We had the East of England show near us for years. We went every year. It was a huge event. Now no longer as they stopped it a few years ago sadly.

I didn’t know the East of England Show had ceased Millie😲 I was sent there by work one year (free tickets& hospitality) on a reconnaissance mission, and it was a huge show, very well supported and attended. I know the Royal Show ceased a long time ago, we were at an event at Stoneleigh showground last year, and it was very sad seeing all the breed HQs and show rings looking the worse for wear. We love Great Yorkshire, but it’s not like it used to be. One of best we ever went to was Royal Highland Show just outside Edinburgh.
Love the online show Goldie👍

Badly organised day as we'd double booked the motorhome repair and a visit to Hestercombe Gardens on the edge of the Quantocks. So six journeys and a dent in the finances. Anyway nice to walk round the gardens as it was a lovely sunny day. Someone was getting married in part of the formal gardens and orangery, seeing how small the number of guests were made me realise how things have changed. Hope they enjoyed their day, a lovely setting.

Serious case of outfit envy here on Site tonight.........😍
Nope, it’s not the 8 metre Bailey Autograph next door. Nor is it the very nice VW camper across the way. Not even the very very nice Eriba Touring undercover in storage......
First time I have seen one in the flesh, deeply impressed, but oh, the price tag......😲

We've moved to a CL on the edge of North Yorks Moors after a slight change of plan, (don't ask, long story).
Had a smashing day. Drove to pretty Little Ayton, parked up and walked to and up Roseberry Topping then down and up again over to Captain Cook Monument. Somewhere between 7-8 miles but very pleased with breathing and lungs as they had a good stretch. Hope for bigger things to come.
A couple of shots from the Topping.

We tried to get in on Monday for a 5 night stay starting on Wednesday but they couldn't accommodate us, presumably as it included a weekend. That would have ruined your peace and quiet!

Edit - Mrs WN agrees that the drive over to Powburn from the coast is one of the best. I always agree with Mrs WN.

Some fine photos there! It is a fair pull up Roseberry Topping and onto the monument, well done WNs. Hope the new CL is up to scratch.
Tda, there a similar sort of caravan in a driveway near us, a GoPod, not as smart as that in your picture though.
Did your M/H get sorted brue, I sure hope so and that you'll be able to get away shortly. Hestercombe Gardens will have to be added to our list of places to visit.
Hope that your OH is able to have the Presidency for next year, so that you both don't miss out on the honour, Goldie. Well done with the virtual 2nd place.
It was a good day yesterday for me as the car sailed through it's MOT and the service, and then last night round a new non facility site at Kendal, Spital Caravans, with vacancies from 18th for 4 nights so we can start our trip earlier than originally planned, all jobs being done at home by then. Thank you Peedee & Searchforsites.co.uk!😁

Great photos WN.It certainly sounds as though you gave the lungs a good work out. Good news about your car nellie. I hope your MH is now ready for your NE trip brue. Our mechanic rang us today with the news that my little car needs a new starter motor £££!!
We had a lovely visit to Houghton Hall walled garden (HHA) today. The gardens were beautiful but the cafe was a bit sterile. However they are doing there best under very difficult circumstances

WN, Roseberry Topping brings back memories. OH went to Teesside Uni, I went up to see him and we walked up Topping. He proposed up there💓😁 Which CL are you on at NYMoors?
LH is full tonight, but plenty of room. It’s a beautiful site, in a beautiful location. Thriving since it left the CL network, (interesting story to relate there😉) Demand for pitches is beyond belief up here. Had a chat with a couple of other MH owners, they have been trying for anything on Coast, but full. Not so bad inland if you aren’t choosy. We have had a lovely break, well away from crowds, walking, cycling, swimming. Off to final site tomorrow, Hexham Racecourse. We went there on our honeymoon tour a long time ago, back when it was a Trax Site.
Great to hear car passed MOT Nellie, and you are off shortly. 👍
Nice Photos Millie, we might get to Houghton in October hopefully. If you fancy an interesting church visit, and it’s open, Binham Priory, not far from Wells is very interesting. Simon Schama featured it as part of his History of Britain.
Some more photos, we have had lovely weather most of time.

Ttda, we're on Greenfields Farm, Hilton. Spacious, grass, sloping gently, open skies, pigs, chickens, lambs and goats to look at.

Does anyone else's other half always ask you a question when you've got a toothbrush stuck in your mouth? Then tell you off for dribbling? Just wondered.

Thanks WN, looked it up. An interesting place, might suit us for another tour. Anything with animals around I find attractive.😁

Thanks TDA. That certainly looks our type of place. If we dont have time this trip we will definitely visit another time.

That sounds Wonderful, WN, it really does
Pig, chicken, lamb goat to look at, and some peas, beans, carrots, parsnip and a sprout or three ~~ all this and it's just 6:30 pm
. Really must get the cooker warmed up & some gravy worked on
Earlier I was in receipt of an e-mail from my Optician of choice, reminding me of the Booking I made yesterday ( Well I suppose in 24 - hours I might have forgotten all about booking it !
} At least I've had a good long session checking out the different frames, types of lenses, as well as the treatment of those lenses. So I think I'll just have a light meal ( Of peas, beans and p p parsnips of course ) then go and lie my weary memory down

Had an enjoyable couple of hours at a local RSPB nature reserve on a windy but sunny morning.
The cafe was eclectic and the conversation a bit wooden but with social distancing being practiced it wasn't too bad.😁 See photo.

Coo..... Hexham Racecourse Site has changed a bit in 36 years😂 Swish new loo, shower and laundry block, and some very nice statics going in around edge of touring site. Fabulous views all around, found a Trig Point up by Racecourse Stand entrance, so certainly one of highest points in area. Nicely spaced pitches, most grass, but some HS as well. Quite a few here tonight, some first timers out in new vans and MHs.
We stopped off at Aydon Castle on way, nice hour spent wandering around. Might do something Roman tomorrow.......

That sounds a grand site TDA.
It was Pensthorpe Nature Reserve for us today followed by a bracing walk along Hunstanton sea front

It was Pensthorpe Nature Reserve for us today followed by a bracing walk along Hunstanton sea front. I can remember playing beach cricket on that beach when I was in my teens. Not so much sand there these days.

Sorry double post. This site is so slow to post this evening

We have a similar photo of the cliffs from our trip at just before the lockdown, millie. Did you get as far along the showcase the remains of the sunken boat?
That looks a grand site, tda, and good value too looking on the web site. Bet it catches the weather though when it blows.
A nothing sort of a day here, but an expensive one! Received the dreaded TV license demand, as well as my car tax reminder, and the renewal note for the caravan insurance. Guess I'll just have to pay up with a grimace, needs must I suppose.

Glad to see everyone who is away are enjoying themselves.
Good news about the car the issue with the handbrake turned out to be just the cable (I hate these electronic handbrakes) anyway easy enough job and while they had it I just decided to get it MOT’d as it was due at the end of the month anyway. Luckily it passed first time so our trip to the Lakes next week should be on so happy days. Couldn’t make it up to the Volvo garage in Glasgow to pick the car up and they aren’t open tomorrow so will need to wait until Monday before so can go and collect it but they did say they would give it a wash so that will be one less job for me next week.

After two days of canal walking, we headed into Chelmsford on the bus for some retail therapy - can of WD40 and a pair of bicycle clips. Last of the big spenders. A pleasant lunch followed by a meander round Central Park. Quite a pleasant town.

Not quite as "Dear a Day" for me Nellie, but still dear enough ! I got my TV licence money grabbing letter and saw the prices of all those nice new spectacle frames
.Those chairs and table could be stars on Bargain Hunt , WN but I don't think they would fit into many caravans tho'

Drive across from Mablethorpe to Kingsbury Water park, near Tamworth.
Roads busy but arrived just after 1pm, early enough to beat the weekenders so got a choice of pitches.
Site staff really nice all seem to be enjoying what they are doing. How they stay so cheerful is a credit to them in normal times but now it's fantastic to see.
They are so busy, all sites we've been are full every night. Haven't had a walk around this site yet but it looks to be a nice one. There is noise though from the motorway and the occasional aircraft.
Going out for a cycle in the morning along the canal. Meeting up with my nephew (he lives in Tamworth) on Sunday for a walk. He is the one that came to us a few weeks ago, while up in Scotland bagging more Munro's.
We've been helping the couple next to us, they are new to the hobby, a bit unsure of how to do some things so asked for advice.
Looks like we are going to get some warm weather over the next few days☺️
Francis, glad the car is sorted and your trip to the lakes will go ahead.
WN your CL sounds nice, enjoy. OH has the same problem as you always dribbling😀😀
Photos look lovely Millie glad you are having a good time.
Have a good weekend folks. Sorry if I've missed anyone.

It’s certainly blowy😁 But we knew that, it’s right on the brow of a big hill. I have been here and seen awnings shredded, years ago. It’s one of those sites where you would need to choose your visit date carefully, a family Site, so can imagine it being “lively” at certain times of the year. Close to Tyne and Wear conurbations, about an hour possibly. Once down into Hexham, you have the whole of the Tyne Valley to explore, as local trains go from Newcastle right through to Carlisle. Great for Hadrian’s Wall of course.
Seems very well managed though, strict policy around alcohol, and everyone walks dogs away off site. Huge dog walking field close by, so no reason not to, with no access to racecourse itself. Haven’t been inside new facility block, but it’s brand new and if rest of place is anything to go by, standards will be good. Plenty of cleaning going on. Will get some view photos later.

How are you getting on in your part of the world KJ, are the new Covid19 measures affecting you and your family? I'm keeping a close watch on some of the areas we're heading for soon...fingers crossed!
A nice sunny day here, looking forward to some warmer weather next week. We have a family visitor from Cumbria staying with daughter and partner and hope to meet up tomorrow, our first meal in the local pub where we've had some good take aways...just hoping we feel ok about it! (Slightly apprehensive I suppose as so far we've only done outdoor eating.)
Enjoy your weekend everyone, hope the warmth reaches all parts.
