CS can't remember ever doing that route, maybe because we never had anyone to drop us off! Interesting.

Didn't get down the Waskerley Way today as there was rain on top with a fair 20mph wind from the west when we drove to Consett so we headed west towards Durham. Enjoyed it. Will get around to WW before we leave, maybe even tomorrow but as you know so well there are lots of others in the area. We think we'll be back soon, hopefully. The weather did improve but the wind didn't abate.

Had a decent drive across to Barnard Castle apart from the A66 traffic jam.

We are on the C&CC site here this time, approach road a bit narrow and bumpy but site is nice.

Weather was sunny but windy on arrival, however we are out of the wind so decided to try our porch awning, had it for years so wasn't sure if it was still ok ( last used 4years ago) managed to remember how it goes up, all went well and still looks ok.

    Weather now rainingfrown

Yes it's an exhilarating route (to quote Wainwright) but not too steep. After White side we cut off Hopegill head (did it Monday) to the Coldale hause path to Wandope, then Eel Crag to Sail. Apart from Whiteside It was Wandope and Sail we wanted to bag. Now we have all that part.

Shame about your day, hope you'll get it soon. Lots of old railway lines, and each pit would have had it's own line,  up there have been converted into cycle paths .

Some benches found on cycle route today to brighten the day up. Used one of them for lunch stop.

Spent the day removing part of the front doorstep to facilitate fitting the new MH on the drive more easily as it's just under half a metre longer. You wouldn't think that rearranging a few block paviors would take so long. Of course the last brick needed a bit of trimming so the angle grinder got a good workout. Definitely feeling my age now though.

Ha! Our overnight stop was a lovely little gem. Sheltered, quiet, views to die for and £7, with free apples and a great dog walk thrown in as well. Up and off into Rothbury, swapped a gas bottle (cheaper than Club👍) an hour’s look around lovely little town, which was quiet. Stopped off at Edlingham Castle for lunch and a stroll. Pitched up on our CL now, top of Site on our own, looking over Tweed Valley to The Cheviot. Glorious if breezy morning😁 Nice to be away again. Bike riding later........

I did not think the club did gas bottles surprised,

Did you mean to say "cheaper" than this clubs site managers can supply, when they have to buy from a calor dealer to give (in normal times)a service at minimal  gain to the members at the prices that calor instruct (or they will not supply)wink

I was under the impression that gas bottle prices were regulated?  I can't remember ever getting a cut price deal,  though I can remember paying a whacking great supplement at Sandy Balls when we ran out on a nearby CL! surprised

I've got one of those "which day of the week is it" daylag feelings. As we should have been away, I'm all out of sync!

Apples TDA we have a real glut here. Pleased to hear your tour has got off to a good start. OH and daughter's partner are doing some more apple pressing today...at some point. A neighbour had some of our damsons so brought round a jar of damson chutney this morning...My sympathy with CY as OH can hardly move due to various outside tasks this week, so he'll be more of an onlooker when the cider enthusiast arrives!

Another neighbour put out some free spare plants in buckets, not recognising the plant name I nipped round and took a couple only to find they are a giant six foot version of some I've already got and they're a real pest for spreading around...my sister can have them as a surprise. wink🌼🌻🌼

They are calor give all outlets their price list that must not be undercut

There is some anomalies as Calor prices are "different" in some areas of the country when looking at price listsundecided

Our local Club Centre (East Yorkshire) did a deal with Jewsons in Beverley and up to just over a year ago, before I went down the Safefill route, I was paying about £14 for a 6kg refill.  I don't know if it's still available, but it was certainly a saving.

Just got back from our GP Practice after having our 'flu' jabs.  Most impressed with the 'production line' they had got going.  Didn't have to wait - straight into one of the available rooms - needle in - and out of the surgery via the back door and a one way system.  I was actually back out in the car park two minutes before my appointment time!

We have had two texts from our surgery saying please don't contact us to make appointments for flu jabs, we will contact you when stocks have arrived. All the other surgeries around here seem to be starting appointments so it's a bit of a concern. Our surgery, which we've been with for 20+ years now really seems to have lost its way lately - absolutely no chance of seeing a named doctor even before the pandemic was declared. We would change but it's all but impossible to find another local surgery registering new patients. frown

Another week gone, the days seem to be passing quickly at the moment!

Spanner in works as DD is not allowed visitors due to the temporary restrictions In Glasgow, so we can only go there on the days we are looking after Callum.  Laying the boards in the loft is therefore going very slowly as I need someone to help get them up through the hatchway.  At this rate it will not be finished before we are due to go on holiday, though the holiday is in doubt now.

Unless the restrictions are lifted, DD and Callum will not be able to come with us, so we either start out later and  cut out the first stop, or try to change our site bookings, which it seems will be difficult this near to departure.  And with virus spikes in many more places in England, should we go away at all?

Today I have been back at the Guide Hall putting up more new lights, if the weather stays decent I should be finished by tomorrow.  Maybe then we can do a few things in our own house on Monday.

Car service on Tuesday, they have stopped the collect and deliver service, so I will have to take it myself and presumably be able to wait for it to be ready.  No prospect of getting a bus home from there, so not much choice.  I suppose I could walk up to DD's place and work in her garage.  Outside is fine, just not allowed in the house.

Do you mean flu jabs, Kj?

Mrs M met one of her friends who is a receptionist in one of the other surgeries in town and apparently they are being encouraged to start early with flu jabs because they are rolling them out to more people this year, all over 50s I believe rather than just over 65s. And they want to get ahead of the game just in case a Covid vaccine should become available.

I rang our surgery a few days ago, just to ask what was happening with flu jabs; we hadn't had any communication from them about it.  We were both offered an appointment for the 25th of this month, those were the next available appointments, so I booked them.

They are not being done at the surgery, but on the carpark of the nearby Social Centre!  Our surgery is quite small, carpark also very small, so presumably not possible to do there safely.

We had a lovely afternoon took a drive up to Carron reservoir only 25 mins from the site but we had never been before. What a lovely place the damn is nice to look at The water is so powerful. We took a walk around the forest area we will go back at some point it’s amazing what you find even in an area we have visited many times and close to home. Just staying in the van tonight it’s a bit chilly outside so pizza for dinner and a few beers.

Hope everyone else has had a nice day.

M, our surgery is the same. I contacted them about 2 weeks ago to find out what this year's format will be. The answer was who knows, we have no idea, we don't even know if we will be doing them.

My sister's surgery usually on the ball with flu jags hasn't started them yet either. I can see them being later than normal this year despite what the government says. Will have to ask my niece she's a receptionist at a practice, she will at least give us the truth.

Francis, were are you just now?

Lovely couple of hours with the WN's, was lovely to meet another CT'er. Thanks for the drink, our shout next time, have a good trip north.

The wind was quite cutting first thing, especially as it was funnelled down the valley. So we picked up a leaflet from the site and decided on a walk from the site itself. Blew the cobwebs away.

    Back for a late lunch.

Then off mid afternoon to meet up with Tammy and her OH at an accomodating Hotel/Pub near Barnard Castle. We enjoyed a "where did those 2 hours go?" natter. Lovely to meet them and hope to do so again. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

The drive back over the moors to Stanhope was spectacular with sun shining. Ttda would like it up here on the moor.😁

Our surgery has contacted us to say 'don't ring us  we will contact you' about flu jabs so we have booked to have ours at our local Lloyds chemist the week after next. I just wonder how 'on the ball' our surgery is going to be if and when we get a Covid jab 🤔

Nice to hear that everyone away is having a good time

Cheers Francis, couldn't work out where you were, nosy aren't I 😀 Balbirnie is nice, bit close to us but we have used it on occasion.

We can't get our flu jabs at the pharmacy in Scotland if you are over 65, I asked last year but they don't get supplied with the over 65 serum or the under 18 one either, just the normal one frown would make so much sense if they did lots more pharmacies than GPs, would help the GPs to especially if/when we get a Covid vaccine.

I've just booked a flu jab on line at Boots. Our surgery has taken the details off their web site so I've given up on that one, I also read there'll be a 70% supply to local surgeries and 50% for younger people/children. Earliest booking available for our Boots was 23/9.
