Nice one Triky.
Goodness, where did the day go? Both brown bins now full. Operation Berberis Haircut coming along slowly. Lawns mowed again. Car and Caravan packed. Meals cooked for MiL for the freezer.
Hope those heading off or already ensconced enjoy(ing) it.

So sorry to hear that you have had to cancel your trip brue. I hope you get your MH sorted out for your trip to the NE. Everything seems to take so long at the moment.
We had a great visit to Anglesey Abbey with eldest son, DIL and grandson today. (Eldest grandson was out with his friends). The house was closed but we had a lovely time wandering around the gardens and had a picnic. The shop was ooen as well 😁

Nice pics there millie, is that the mill I see? We were there last year, well I think it was then. I tend to get all those sort of places mixed up as we visit that many!!😁
Another fine day here, and quite warm again, definitely better than forecast. Got much of the inside of the van cleaned this afternoon, as well as our usual walks.
Hope all who are heading off had a safe journey, and those that are already at their destinations are having a good time. Stay safe one and all.

Busy few days here, weather not bad. Saturday at DD's house, laying floorboards in her garage loft, Sunday at the Guide Hall starting to install some additional lighting, and today phase 1 was completed. Will be interesting to see how it looks in the dark, just worried we may need an additional light.
Tomorrow, phase 2, new car park lights. Can run some wiring and hang up lights, but need more conduit to finish it all, which has been ordered but will not come tomorrow.
Wednesday we are back at DD 's to look after Callum. Not a lot of work done when he is around as he just wants to be with me all the time.

Yes Nellie. Thats the mill. Unfortunately not open at the moment and neither is the house. It was lovely to have a walk round the grounds and gardens though. When are you off on your travels again?

Bank Holiday Weekend? It seemed like any other weekend here. Cows don’t knock off for a few days rest .
On Saturday night we went to a Zoom concert from the comfort of our own home. Chris Difford (Squeeze) has been doing them fortnightly during lockdown . With different guest singers each time. All tickets by donation, and all going a different charity each time.
Its an easy way to have a night out. No need to travel or dress up so much - just make sure the background looks tidy. And this week my husband was near enough home to nip out and calve a cow in the middle.
Thats enough time wasted on here- dinner for six in the oven, but paperwork and bills await.

Just back from a night at Poolsbrook. As our van is kept in storage, we wanted to check out all the systems before we go away for a longer tour. We have taken it for a regular monthly run since restrictions were lifted but not had any of the equipment operating.
It is surprising what you forget in 6 months. Like the two hidden away valves at the lowest point of the plumbing, that had to be left open when we put the van away before lockdown, as there was still a risk of frost. I couldn't understand why the hot tank was taking so long to fill, the valve on that was shut.🤔 Until OH reported a swimming pool outside.😂
Anyway all sorted now, everything working on gas and electric. Although the gas things took a bit of getting going, the water heater initially throwing up a no gas code before lighting. I presume because it was so long since they were used, it took a bit of time to get the gas through. Fridge also ignited / went out a couple of times before finally working. Things just don't like not to be used and that includes my memory. Hopefully there won't be so long between any future trips.

I think a lot of people have found the same Steve and the need to do a check out trip. Unfortunately we are really stuck now as our van can't be repaired for another week (could have had it done this week if we hadn't delayed and hoped it would be ok...
) I'd booked a garden visit at Trebah and they've kindly kept the pre-paid booking until we can attempt another trip. Like wise the cattery know we'll probably be back soon...it's been very quiet for the cattery owner, a lot of business comes from people taking trips abroad etc. but she has kept going with essential workers needing help with pets.
Millie, nice to see you all on the photo. I'm thinking of our grandson today, off to senior school for the first time. Hope all the grandchildren and children on here are getting back to school safely, I know Scotland has got going already. Wonder what will happen to the student population, the next group to sort out in these changed times.
Late lunch now, wish I was on our little trip but the weather's good at home, take care all.

Arrived at Dunbar a few minutes early yesterday, no problem though as vans ahead were already going to their pitches.
We have a front pitch so nice views over the firth of forth and out to Isle of May.
Got all set up then spot of lunch before taking a bike ride out to the light house. Nice site pretty sprawling with lots of grassy open areas, has a nice feeling of space☺️
There is a bit of distant traffic noise from the A1 but none at night.
We have had a lazy morning sitting in the sun, going for ride into Dunbar shortly, clouds have built up but it's still very pleasant.
Tomorrow we are going to Old Hartley for a couple of nights. More nice seaviews ☺️

Up early this morning, a case of “flapping lug”. (Pooch owners will know it well🙄) Managed to get into vets, just a bit of infection, nothing to worry about, that will be £100 thank you......kerrching. I queried a bill we had for some repeat medication as well, something that is monthly. The price for the same tablets, same number, same wrapper etc... had more than doubled in a month. So not best pleased😡
Our vets has gone from being absolutely fantastic, to “search for another practice” in seven months. It was originally an independent partnership, with the same vets there for a very long time. Superb at what they did, very caring, animal lovers. It became part of a big group middle of last year, with a number of the original vets staying on, under the new organisation. One by one they have become disillusioned, and two have actually given up practising. Now it’s all about making money for shareholders, selling drugs etc.... at huge mark up. Some of the products are four times the price if bought online, and that includes paying for a written prescription. The vets are nice, very thorough, the staff are nice, very helpful, but everything revolves around the Administrator and decisions she makes, and the prices the company think customers will pay. Turnover of vets and staff is monthly, you never get to see the same vet now.☹️
So, we are close to walking away, have found an independent vet practice RCVS registered, good reviews, around 15 minutes further from home. A sad decision, we have used this practice for nearly thirty years.

Didn’t know dentists were playing the same game☹️ All the hype says it’s about buying power for drugs, but it’s a load of tosh. Our vets want £90 for a tiny tube of canine eye treatment. The specialist eye vet we use, his practice charge £60 for same drug. I get it via a reputable online vet drug company for £29 including delivery. Blatant profiteering, they are pandering to shareholders, loading the costs onto pet owners whose first priority is the health and welfare of their pets. I have nothing but praise for the vets, wonderful people, but working under strict orders to push as much of the companies products onto owners as they can. The ultimate indignity for me, is that this huge Vet group run their own pet insurance, which is also promoted heavily to owners. Top whack for premiums, top prices for drugs. Win, win for company shareholders☹️

Well a totally fantastic day. I think I have done what WN advised and have done better.
Scafell Pike, great End, and Esk Pike. Although the last one was a navigational error. A lovely warm day.
Now in the old Keswickian having fish and chips.

Our vet is fortunately very happy to supply a prescription (£13) and has advised us which online service to use. We get the medication that our elderly cat needs at a third of the price. Our lovely vet agrees that it is ridiculous as she isnt allowed to buy them for the online price.
I wrote to our dentist at the weekend (no email address provided on their website😡) expressing my extreme displeasure at their proposed extra charge for PPE. They say on their website that it was a difficult decision but when our payment plan was calculated they didnt take covid into consideration. Our dentist was off ill since the middle of last year and has now retired so we havent had access to a dentist since then. I asked if that had been taken into consideration when calculating our denplan payments. I am not holding my breath for a favourable reply! I am seriously considering cancelling my denplan and just paying as I go with a small extra payment for emergency treatment like OH does.

Well done CS. A*
What a corker of a day. I'm not jealous as I don't think my lungs would cope this year. Vicarious pleasure indeed.
Quiet drive over the Pennines to a one night stop near Harrogate. Had time for a 3 hour stroll around the backlanes above the CL. Wonderful views of Lower Wharfedale.

I read up the Covid details on the Denplan site....I'm now wavering about our payments Millie, it has been worthwhile for us but not if we can't have the treatments included in the plan. (The dentist recieves the Denplan payments on behalf of the patients but the patients don't see the dentist...?!) 🙄

Checked our overnight stop location was still on, closed at moment due to unforeseen circumstances, so plan B goes into effect tomorrow. A phone call should solve it.......😁

It doesnt seem to go in favour of the patients does it brue. I also mentioned that they have been closed for some months with reduced overheads (I expect their ancilliary staff were furloughed). I dont suppose that will go down very well. I will probably be struck off their list of patients!

I sympathise with you Millie, our problem is very few dentists around taking on NHS work and no-one near us except our present one who has retained a few original NHS patients but won't take on any more.
I'm just hoping my teeth will last!
Hope you get the overnight stop sorted TDA.

In about 3 weeks time, unless of course we decide to go a few days earlier!!😁 The trip is booked up to the 1st week in November, and we'll see what the weather is doing then before deciding how long to extend it for. When do you head off to Sandringham, and are you looking forward to it? Using CLs and our own facilities we've not had any problems social distancing, but guess it will be harder on club sites. We have booked one for the next trip but by the time we get there hopefully the site will be quiet.

We will thanks brue. Not worried to be honest, we know of some other spots related to first that are still available, but my nasty reaction to midges is putting us off those. Going for a quiet no facility/ no hook up CL, just need to check out they are open. It’s an old fashioned set up, you phone, they say see you later, we roll in and pay a tiny amount😂
We have got all organised for a predominantly no hook up holiday, and biggest challenge might be recharging toothbrush to be honest. As we go offsite nearly every day, we charge up phones and iPads on the road, no TV (we never bother). We enjoy posh camping, we shall be up early and breakfast on beach some days. Our kind of fun. Fingers crossed for some sunshine, forecast is looking quite good. Mr Flappy Lugs is fine, thankfully. All we need to do now is make sure there’s no repeat of the rancid crab incident of last year! He leaves a trail of vet bills country wide😬

I believe that, in actual fact, Vets are required by law to supply a prescription if they are asked for one and what's more, there should be a notice in the Vets to this effect - but, of course, none of them display it.
I pay £8.50 for a script for our dogs flea/tick treatment and four months supply costs me £24 online (including the cost of the script) as opposed to over £40 if I buy the same product from the Vet.

Same problem here brue. Very few NHS dentists. Our DIL always took our 2 grandsons to a local dentist for their NHS (free) treatment and when she took them a few weeks ago was told that they are now a fully private practice and charged her £25 each for a check up for them. Totally unacceptable for children. She contacted the NHS dentistry dept who were very sympathetic but say they have no jurisdiction over practices once they go fully private. After ringing about 10 or 15 practices within a 20 mile radius she finally found a practice about 15 miles away who will take on our 2 grandsons as their patients. She assumes that the money is gong to the dentist who owns the top of the range new BMW with a customised number plate parked in the car park

Agree with your last paragraph Millie. OH is always scathing about Dentists and charges! A money grabbing lot. Personally I’ve never had a hard up dentist, they always have top of the range cars etc, it gets him fuming! We are, at present, lucky enough (?) to have an NHS practice although they aren’t seeing patients either unless you have emergency. Our April check up was postponed until November and OH has been struggling with a lost filling for months, the temporary filling stuff from the chemist lasts about 4 days!!

Overnight stop sorted, Site is open. We roll up, pitch up, put payment through letterbox if Farmer is busy. That’ll do for us. Right on Hadrian’s Wall as well😁

Arrived on site at Old Hartley at the new time of 13.00, one van in front of us.
Managed to get a decent pitch down at the front of the site, so great view out to the lighthouse.
Not so great (for the owner) is the burnt out caravan 6 pitches to the left of us
it went up on Saturday while the owners were out at the lighthouse, poor souls saw it go up. Thankfully no one injured but it's a right off. All the right hand side completely gone, left wall front and back still in place. Looks to be the 'cooker' according to the fire brigade. All info via warden.
Typical managed to get set up, spot of lunch, late. Then heavens opened, no bike ride this afternoon then
OH now sat feet up catching flies 😂
WN, TDA, hope you get away ok.
MillieH, dentists are not my favourite people at the moment, really can't understand how some practices are working fine while others are refusing to do so. That was shocking treatment your grandchildren had, they should have been told beforehand. OH has written to our MP in complaint of what is happening, according to Nicola all dentists are now able to carry out normal work. OH even mentioned that the GP wasn't sure if flu vaccinations were going ahead this year as they had not received any guidance from the Scottish parliament. Not sure it will have any effect but if you don't try ---------.

Thanks TG, we are all sorted. Awful story about van. We liked OH, it’s a very different little Club Site, good cycling around. We are heading North via inland route, staying on Border, then will probably come back down coast. No ideas on Sites yet, but we’ll find something. It’s just started raining here as well, but we are all packed bar fresh food. Even managed a haircut for lawn, and mowed Other Half’s bonce this morning in sunshine. Just house to tidy now....
