Bet you're glad to be home now brue, doesn't sound much fun.

Hope the MH problem isn't to expensive.

We have a booking on grass next weekend so hoping it will be a bit dryer by then.

Francis, we were at Barnard Castle CAMC site about 9 years ago, this time we are on the CCC site there. Hoping the weather will be ok and we can get out and about in the car.

JV, we've had rain all day thankfully not that heavy, will be glad when it stops though. Will yours drain away ok?

    Hi TG.

We're not going to the Borders. Wanted to but couldn't get the dates we wanted so we are actually heading to Durham ourselves to start the ball rolling before heading further into Scotland. Don't know how long you'll be there but we'll be staying just north of Bishop Auckland. We won't get there until Thursday next week.

If you are still around I'll buy you and OH a drink somewhere twixt and between. Drop me a line at wn216@btinternet.com. Mind you there is a nice 10 mile walk we've got our eye on at Staindrop so if you've got your boots.surprisedsmile

Gosh there are some names from OH's past there! His uncle and family lived near Bishop Auckland and his father and a another uncle were in the Masons in Staindrop. Lots of memories. Hopefully we will get back up there sometime next year for his uncle's memorial service.

Woke up to nice sunshine this morning smile glad to see its not totally deserted us.

Trip into town (well industrial estate) took the MH into the workshop to have a Satellite dish fitted while we are away.

The fitter doing the work will have to move the solar panel to another position at the front of the van first, to gain the much bigger area in the middle of the roof to fit the dish.

Why the manufacturers of PVC's don't think about the layout of the roof when designing the van is a mystery.

When researching getting an 85cm dish fitted the info we kept getting from the dealers is "oh you can only have a dome or 65cm dish fitted because there isn't enough room at the front of the van"

Which is correct because they used all that space to plonk a solar panel in it yell thankfully there are fitters out there that think out of the box and are willing to put in a bit more effort when doing the job.

Off out again soon this time to take my car back to the dealer for some work to be done on it (under warranty) getting all the jobs done while we are away, thankfully both places are happy to keep the vehicles until we return. smile

Grey skies again frown think we might have a shower.

Up date on our moat ,found it was caused by water from the storm (monsoon) being to much for the road drains (not cleared?) and in coming down the footpath, which then ran  down our footpath we are lower than the public footpath, and made the moat round the house ,it drained away in a couple of hourssurprised

We have had a similar problem with very heavy rain this morning (that is how i found out why) this morningfrown so i have dug a channel from our front garden back out onto the public path lower down as a temp measure ,it seems to work as water went quickly

Borough  council and County highways have been "advisedundecided"

Well at least you've fixed the problem for now JVB, our local drains get overwhelmed on a frequent basis, silt in various forms makes it a continuous clearing out task. Hope you stay dry now!

Showers and thunder storms here, nice sunshine in between. Trying to do a turnaround for our short break next week, going to risk the grass ABM! surprised  Have booked Trebah Gardens in advance, all this searching and booking, pubs, gardens etc makes going away less spontaneous. Will now have to rise and shine from the site early next week to get our Trebah fix, looked at Trelissick etc and Sept. bookings open today.

Hope all the holiday plans for others are going well...our nice little no spend bank balance is dwindling....but after September I doubt we'll be wandering very far.

Yet another ‘book reading day’ today, thanks to the rain that doesn’t seem to have stopped all week! It’s certainly making up for the near drought conditions we had at the beginning of the month. Due to leave on Tuesday after two weeks on our favourite CS in North Yorkshire. Perhaps the weather will be better in time for our trip next month 🤨

We mirrored you RandR for weather again. Rain, rain and more rain.

Decided to get stuck into clearing some of our excess reference books and leaflets. Why are we keeping a 2004 Road Map of Europe? Some of the countries no longer exist!!! We always pick up leaflets of things to do, walks to be walked, rides to be had on bikes etc whenever we're in a new area. Thrown quite a lot away today and a few walking books will be going to charity shops (with teardrop stains). Well, we might go to the Auvergne again but I doubt we'll need 4 walking books.

I haven't tackled the language books we've accumulated, some of which refer to Francs, Pesetas and Deutschmarks.😱 You can have too much excitement in one day.

Luckily the good weather seems to be returning tomorrow.

    Thank you 😀

I am delighted to say that despite my pessimistic feelings the house sale did complete. Exchange and completion. We heard at 1450. Phew.

As you say one huge thing off my mind. I'm delighted to report that I have been able to sleep all night since Tuesday!

Sadly we had to break up my parents beautiful bedroom furniture as we were unable to get it downstairs. I do remember dad saying they had to remove the windows to get it in. We filled 2 skips ensuring that there was nothing for the buyers to quibble about. 😡😤

We drove up to our son and DIL this afternoon - traffic voice advised heavy traffic on the M11 as we approached on the Stansted roundabout, reduce speed to 40mph. If only I go get to that 🤣. I only got 36mph for most of the way. When the traffic did lessen we had a monsoon and i had to reduce speed to less than 30mph 😱😱. However we arrived safely and DIL hasn't been able to combine so every cloud has a silver lining and we've enjoyed a lovely meal.

Dogs are settling well. So looking forward to a few nice days REGARDLESS of the weather.

Good to read your news, stay safe and dry. I must now stop being antisocial 🤣🤣🤣

Good to hear things have moved on Bakers, and I hope you enjoy your time with family now. Triky, hope you get things sorted as well.

Puzzled here at the moment. I got an email from Club yesterday reminding us about our booking at Marazion next Saturday (😢) so went into profile to cancel it........but apparently we have no current bookings! Will be a glitch from our rejoining, so I will just phone Site to make sure it is cancelled.

Keeping an eye on weather at moment up and down country, not looking great anywhere except East Anglia for later in week. Do I want a week away in MH in rain🤔 We have nothing booked, so could head off in any direction, although having seen standing traffic on M1 yesterday, going South doesn’t look inviting☹️ We are off to EA in late September, so don’t really fancy there at moment either. Might just have to set sail and pack the waterproofs for NE.....

Had a good day yesterday though. Got most of bathroom redecorated, just some finishing touches now, new lights, paint outside of 🛁, chivvy OH along with some shelving. Not sure what to do around window........🤔

OH has taken the M/H to the garage to sort out why the engine light is on and off...RAC proving to be a bit busy. Daughter and partner also needed RAC on way home from Cornwall. Broke down near Penzance, relayed to Cornwall Services car park at 3am and left there for the night!! Given an old rental car to continue in the morning. Glad I'm not away for the Bank Holiday...

Good to hear your news Bakers2, hope you are enjoying your family get together. Dora must have grown a lot by now!

Hope you get the wiring fixed TrikyP.

We have jobs to do here but will save them for the winter months.

Wondering if we'll get away too TDA, first the van and now the weather. wink

There’s a lot of folks rightly cautious JV, for one reason and another. No point in going somewhere if you can’t enjoy it. I’ve booked a cottage for us two and Mum and Sister for late September, just for a change of scenery for us all. Big place, with a big garden, and we have a few ideas for afternoons out, but we are taking MH I think to be self sufficient for meals out and a loo, no intentions of hitting shops or busy tourist attractions. We might pre book the odd NT visit, but only if weather is good.

Surprised at your weather forecast Ttda. Both BBC and WeatherBug show Durham area (where we are heading) as being mostly dry for the week, certainly on the Thursday through to Monday. Tuesday shows a 30% chance of rain. I think I misinformed TG about our arrival. It's Wednesday. This BH messes me up. As we'll be away for about 3½ weeks I'm taking the whole "Kit and Caboodle", everything from trunks to Ski wear.smile Might try both on the same day.

Nice dry day today. We call it Summer here. Off to the tip, then out with the slashing machine to tackle the Holly Bush and Berberis. Still need more taking off but battery on charge. Probably do it tomorrow.

    Caravan packing, very slowly.

We have only two further trips booked, one in September and one in October both of four days each. For that length of time we can be pretty self sufficient. Mind you if the situation deteriorates we have the option to cancel. I can't get really enthusiastic about going away at the moment, something about it seems a bit strange. Let's hope it improves for next year otherwise it may be a decision on whether we carry on which ironically will be our 40th year in the Club!!!

We had plans for a November trip but I've swapped the deposit over and added a couple of sites to our late September trip. Meanwhile our very short Cornish birthday trip now hangs on whether the M/H will get there...sensor playing up. OH, garage and RAC all know what it is and we'll probably manage the visit so have booked the van in for when we get back...fingers crossed.

I did look at alternatives, I could only find one holiday cottage available and at a £220 a night compared to a £22 site fee the cottage lost our vote (not in a particularly enviable spot anyway.)

During my searches I discoverd a nice coastal place down in Cornwall which I'm going to bear in mind for future visits. (English Heritage.)

It does indeed all seem a bit strange and I understand how some feel about venturing forth.

It's currently very gusty here, overcast and while dry it does feel damp. Coolish too.

We're off tomorrow to the Lakes for 8 days, where it is supposed to be dry and bright, Monday looks good for a decent fell bagging somewhere.

We're staying on a club site but in one of these new glamping pods! Long story we had one booked as we would be there in the caravan but things had to change so we'll use it.

No wifi there and poor signal but will try and look in when I can.
