Not a happy chappy as I've lost this post twice already tonight, and both time to my own error!😡
Cloudy day with occasional showers, and although it has been breezy it's not been as wild as some have had. Visited 3 EH properties today, a Thomas Telford approved cast iron road bridge at Cantlop, the 13C Acton Burnell castle, with the adjoining St Mary's Church from a similar date, with it's 3 monuments to Sir Nicholas Burnell, Sir Richard and Sir Humphrey Lee, and then onto Langley Chapel, built in 1601 and is notable for having a complete set of original 17th-century wooden furniture. Returned by way of Salop Leisure, firstly stopping to view the 1771 bridge over the R.Severn at Atcham, and then onto Lidl and Tesco to fill up with food and fuel for the last stage of our trip.
Happy Birthday to Ros, and look after your knees Richard.

Really nice day, our eldest daughter and partner drove down from the Midlands for a surprise visit...we spent a windy day mostly outside and then had a pub take away before they set off for home.
Their journey down was a bit of a battle with holiday traffic so I'm hoping the return was easier.
Off for our short break soon so some hasty packing this weekend!

Heavy rain yesterday morning, a bit better in the afternoon.
Down at DD's just after 10 to continue hanging old cupboards in her garage for storage, before picking up Callum at lunch time. DD has a half day on a Friday, so treated us to M&S gastropub fish and chips, followed by chocolate cake, so no need for an evening meal!
Loft flooring for garage arriving this coming Tuesday, so that will be my task next week, plus Monday and Tuesday will be fitting the new handrail at the guide hall.....weather permitting.
Today started wet too, but sunny now, so I will be spending this afternoon washing the caravan roof, which is extremely dirty now. If I still have the energy, I might even do the rest of the van.
Our new shower unit has arrived, so that will have to be installed sometime. Should be a direct swap for the old unit. OH is trying to choose shower tray etc and is sending for tile samples, plus it sounds like a visit to some tile showrooms is on the cards. We will not however be ordering anything else before our September/October trip, already too much stuff lying around in the house!

OH has the Club handbook and map out at the moment, looking at CLs. I think it’s slipped his memory we are no longer Members🤣
I’ll remind him gently in a while. 😬

It sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday brue. What a wonderful surprise
I was doing some gardening this afternoon and it appears that one of our neigjbours has a trumpet. They were very good so a nice sound to accompany my afternoon's gardening.
I have just realised that it is only 2 weeks before our trip to Sandringham so all systems go as all the caravan stuff is either in the garage or shed. The caravan finally goes in this week for the dealer to look at our cracked (again!) front window. We are resigned to the fact that it wont be fixed before we go away. It is only a small crack in only one of the skins so something we can live with but very much hope that they accept responsibility for either a faulty window or faulty workmanship when they fitted it last year.
Tda how did your OH react when you (gently) reminded him that you are no longer C&MC members so therefore no more CLs?

Well.......he’s found some cracking CLs, so we might just search out the cards that the Club sent us, get them activated, and it gives us lots more options. I need to call some of them, make sure they are open this year. One has some rather nice holiday cottages as well, so been a fruitful bit of research.
I have been in garden all day today. Started off just wanting to cut the lawns before it rained, got that done, but after a few spits it stopped and sun came out, so I made the most of it. We decided to eat lunch outside, as soon as we sat down, it set off drizzling again. Gave up, went inside and sun came out again. After that it was lovely again. Quite cool tonight though.
Hope your window is ok Millie. Our roof vent repair seems to be fine. Going to be strange hitting the road again. I don’t think we have had such a long break between holidays for decades.

We now nave a sparkling white Caravan roof, well, apart from a few very awkward bits round the air con unit. Even did the rest of the van as the weather was so good, arms now exhausted.
The list of things to be done here is gradually getting shorter......meantime

I haven’t posted for a while but tried to keep up with everybody’s news. Hope all is well and you’re all out and about enjoying the countryside. We celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday. As we didn’t fancy being inside a crowed restaurant for a meal, we found our local farm shop was advertising “afternoon tea” to collect. We ordered and collected and throughly enjoyed sandwiches, cakes, sausage rolls and quiche at home. We couldn’t eat it all, so afternoon tea merged into “early evenings” leftovers. I will try to post a photograph.
Today we’re collecting the caravan from storage and parking it on our drive to give it a good clean inside and out. our storage yard is close to some pine trees so the top heiki collects pine needles.
Have a good day.4 -
Congratulations to you both ADD46. The afternoon tea looks delicious, and huge! Well done for posting a picture too, I find it so difficult. Glad you had a good day. For our Golden Wedding in June we did something similar but ordered online delivery of an afternoon cream tea hamper for our family, sent to Scotland for my sister and BIL, to Hertfordshire for our son and family, oh, and one for us! It wasn’t the same as the big get together we had planned but well done these online companies.

Mixed weather here at Rosemarkie, we arrived in sunshine yesterday but within minutes the heavens opened. Thankfully we are in the MH so just sat it out until it passed. The poor chap that arrived at the same time in a caravan got a right soaking.
The views are lovely as we have an uninterrupted view of the sea across to Nairn. We went to see the dolphins this morning at Chanonry point and was not disappointed, an adult and baby plus a few more adults. The road down was ok when we went but on our return it was gridlocked. Thankfully we were on bikes.
Not sure what we are doing this afternoon probably a cycle the other way. Spot of lunch now though.

ADD66, Heddlo { and any others who might be in celebratory mood }
Congratulations to you all but PLEASE don't post pictures of those boxes of calories
'cos I'm sitting here listening to aged repeats of TMS as the rain pours down and thinking of my lunch not helped by the commentator being the late John Arlott, a noted Bon Vivant. For obvious reasons I am suffering from Sunday Tummy Rumbles

Just home after a nice weekend at Strathclyde Park club site. Surprisingly the weather was very nice Friday and yesterday we sat out both nights until after 9 even managed to cook on the Cadac last night. Never done much just went out a cycle yesterday and then went a drive in the afternoon but really just relaxed. Got a bit wet this morning packing up and it rained all the way home But brightened up now. Not away next weekend which will be strange as we haven’t had a weekend at home since the beginning of July but SWMBO has a list of jobs needing done so will get them done next weekend. We are then planning on going away mid week the following week for 5-6 nights. Hope everyone else has had an enjoyable relaxing weekend

Just for ABM - this is from our holiday last year, but we had a similar Afternoon Tea this year . There’s two teas here - one savoury, one sweet.
Sorry!
We are looking forward to returning next year . We’re creatures of habit.

Congrats on the celebrations, nice looking tea’s. We have found a few places doing something similar in our area, and it’s a very nice compromise.
Good to hear folks tales of being away, all being well, we hope to hit the road as the English schools go back. Meantime more house and garden jobs being undertaken.
Apologies for not liking posts, but it’s taking upwards of 30 seconds for the page to refresh each time I try to do it, so take it that I have enjoyed your post!😁

Glad you had a good weekend Francis. You've had much better weather than us for the last 2 days. I'm going rusty.
High Teas? Once upon a time I might have salivated but nowadays they are off limit due to their wheat content so I never cry over spilt milk. But they do look the bees knees.
A lot of paperwork done today after our soaking on the lanes this morning. Was alright when we left home but 20 minutes later....
Must admit this website today has been awful. So many server errors then soooooo long to post anything. I'm like Ttda. I've liked every single post, figuratively speaking.

Goldie, oh, how very could you
I'm that upset now I've even "right clicked " to bring them up a couple of sizes so that I can see the name on the mini-tables they are standing on (The Old Colfin Creamery I think
) But despite every thing they do look exceedingly good as somebody { James Hayter / Friar Tuck to Richard Greenes Robin Hood } used to say !!1 -
We're down at Steamer Quay now, not a bad evening, site busy but because pitches are out of action we've got some space around us. Totnes is much quieter than usual, hope to get a walk in before the weather changes in the week.
Solar panels working well!
Love the cream teas photos, nice to have a treat!
Apologies for limited post.

Just got back to Thornthorpe CS after spending the morning in Helmsley - which we know well and is one of our favourite spots in N Yorkshire. However, it was heaving and whilst some attempt was being made at social distancing, we felt quite uncomfortable and didn’t stay long. At least the sun is now shining and it’s a beautiful day so afternoon to be spent in the relative safety of the site. Might even feel a BBQ coming on later!🥩

Happy Anniversary to both ADD46 and heddlo. Your celebrations sound wonderful.
I hope you have a lovely holiday brue and that the weather is kind to you. How long are you away for? It is a beautiful day here today. It is difficult to think that the weather is going to change so dramatically overnight and we are going to have high winds and torrential rain tomorrow.
We took the caravan over to the dealers this afternoon for them to have a look at our cracked again front window. The guy wouldn't commit to anything at the moment and said 'it is something we can have a look at for you'
. At least it was a little practice run with the new tow car and gave us a chance to test out the new tow bar and electrics. All went well. Although we didn't need to use it we tested the motor mover as it hasn't been used for a year, and all was well with that as well thank goodness.Stay safe in the high winds folks.

Walked out to Dartington from Totnes, good path and cycleway. OH wanted to see the Archimedes screw on the Dart which generates power for about 400 homes. There is a fish ladder too. Onwards to Dartington to find nothing open, so back to Totnes, switched to the old river path to get a view of Bridgetown from under the newer bridge. Very quiet locally but lots of walkers heading for a similar fate...no coffee or loos! Swimmers in the river, every dog known to man out for a walk. 🐶🏃🤽

Heading home tomorrow after an extraordinary fortnight of weather contrasts! When we left home the car display was showing 34° and it had been uncomfortably hot. By the time we got here it was showing 24° and the coast was shrouded in fog. This morning, though still humid, it was down to 17°. We've had brilliant sunshine, strong winds and one or two downpours while we've been here but, although we've walked every day we've only got really wet once. Cornwall in August, eh?

More stormy weather forecast for the next 2 or 3 days our niece and family are coming down to use the van this week - 2 young children hoping for their first experience of Cornish beach life - rather them than me! But they are both key workers and have been having a really stressful time so I'm sure they'll enjoy the break.

Back home again after our 5 nights away on the Moray coast, really enjoyed it. Mixed weather but we never got wet once.
brue, we did the Fairy glen walk yesterday afternoon that you suggested, thanks we enjoyed it. Lots of others out doing the same all behaving
think we will use the site again, it was busy, full infact but didn't feel crowded due to the layout. Fell asleep both nights to the sound of the sea
perfect.Hope your dealer does the right thing MillieH.
Got to go food shopping tomorrow, hope we don't get blown away.

Been keeping up with folks "doings" . Glad to read of holidays, breaks etc.
After a few weeks of mum's house buyers claiming issues and wanting reductions they said no reduction required last week 😱😤 but completion by 28th - this Friday! We signed our papers last Thursday all in a rush - now filling skips with contents that couldn't find new homes and the contents of 2 sheds one summer house and a greenhouse. Somewhat tired I think describes my current state! Heard today they want exchange and completion this Friday! We have an exchange if skip.tomorrow and hopefully last lot to be loaded on Wednesday. Thank goodness for great friends and helpful neighbours.
Only consolation is it focused the mind! And whether they complete or not the house will be emptied and clean by Friday so it'll be ready if we have to remarket it. Despite it all coinciding with my brother having new windows fitted 🤣 and my just coping with living!
Absolutely shattered so off up the wooden hill very soon.
Edit forgot to include OH ICD kicked in 3 times in last 4 weeks, a week apart and 2 on the first hot day! doing its job thankfully. Been fitted for 16 months and only times its happened. Med's adjusted and fingers crossed. He hasn't known about any of them - folks say its like being kicked in the chest by a horse! So stressful is not quite a strong enough word to describe life chez Baker at the mo!
And breathe............

Lovely to hear from you Bakers2. You must be be shattered both emotionally and physically. Hopefully if all goes well you can have a lovely time with your son, DIL and grandog. (I seem to remember you saying that you were going to see them over the BH?)..A small celebration with them might be in order. Take care. Best wishes.
