I'm also awaiting the latest 'letter' from whoever now is responsible for them, Millie BUT having been told not to do anything before it comes, I will be hanging on to my shekels with a grip like R2B on his tree cutting power tools  wink

Busy day so far, cut lawns and long hedge this morning

OH  called out that washing machine was "leaking"as water was coming from beneath, turned out to be stop cock in utility room had sprung a leak,so rest of hedges on hold

Water off at main stop cock, found that utility room stop cock had small crack (plastic) fitted new when condensing boiler fitted fifteen years ago

Off to B&Q new brass stop cock bought and fitted ,still a leak?dismantled it and found that the washer was missing, back to B&Q,replacement fitted , leak gone,

Good job it was today it happened as boiler service in the morning

And while out at B&Q,  window cleaner came but unable to get to bedroom window as had Sun canopy out and OH could not remember how to retract it, got back just as he was leaving but bless him finished job after I retracted canopy (its an omnistore caravan canopy)put it up when we had the motor cavans

Moving on from Whitby tomorrow. It's been the most hazardous stop on this trip. Social distancing is about the width of a greasy chip and further impaired by the dimensions of a lot of the visitors! Escaped down to Ruswarp today and hired a rowing boat for an hour on the Esk. Haven't done any rowing since I sold the yacht nine years ago. Meeting up with No 1 daughter and family at Fountains Abbey tomorrow en route to the first of our one nighters before hitting the Derbyshire Dales.

We took a drive in to Whitby today and it was certainly the busiest place we have been to so far on this trip. SWMBO wasn’t comfortable walking around the narrow streets so we parked up near the whale bone arch and took a nice walk along the pier/harbour wall which was fine plenty of room and great views. Stayed there about two hours and then took a drive to Robin Hoods bay but couldn’t get a parking space so ended up coming back to the van. Scarborough town isn’t much better regarding socially distancing we have drove through a few times since we arrived and it’s always very crowded.

And funnily enough I did remark to SWMBO that a lot of the people walking around Whitby today were of a larger size :)

That's us back home after our 5 nights away testing the MH.

Everything went well, even the weather wasn't to bad.

Cruden Bay was fine, nice cycle from the CL. Had a nice ice cream at the harbour, lots of families out on the beach some even braving the freezing sea. Had a drive up to Peterhead, what a sad place that is these days. Then onto Fraserburgh, parked up for free at the esplanade had a nice picnic lunch in the van then a walk into town. smile

Then next stop was near Buckie, another CL with fantastic views over the Moray Firth. Both CL owners were very nice and friendly, both CL's were full.

The TV saga is still on going, Currys/PC World did not call us as we had requested (and you can't call them) so on return we drove into town to see how things are progressing with our claim. A big fat nothing is the answer, they say as we will not accept another replacement Sony they will not do anything and that we have to accept a replacement. We have pointed out that is not what the consumer act says but they are refusing to budge. OH has now raised a complaint with them and also contacted our CC company.yell

Couple of things to sort out before we are off again at the end of the week.

WN, have a great time on your trip, I saw your post about your OH going to the dentist and no extra charge for PPE thanks for posting that.

Francis sounds like you are having a good time in Yorkshire.

Had a lift to Shotley Bridge then a glorious ride out over to Stanhope via Blanchland and home via the Waskerley Way which is part of the C2C.

It felt like I was the only man out and about at times.

Note the three course breakfast and why are those wellington boots there - did you spot them? I didn't till I got back!

Had a lovely time at Dunham Massey today. Stayed dry and we even saw the sun. Nice to see everyone out enjoying themselves especially as they all seemed to understand the rules of non-engagement.

Good to see your new van had a good spin TG.

Great piccies again Corners. Ever tried a health bar.🚴😂

Gosh you are brave. Whitby is usually heaving at this time of year. Nice down at Ruswarp though. Did you row up to Perry’s Nursery? The gardens and tea rooms are lovely there, great place to buy plants as well. Have a nice time at Fountains👍

I wish we still had a B&Q, even if the odd purchase wasn’t perfect first time round. Don’t half miss it, nearest one is miles away now.

Cloudy but dry here today, and warm. We are off for a day out, somewhere...........

Out walking at 6am this morning.  Found a live debit card by the beach so made a detour to Lloyd’s bank to post through their letter box.  Just been subject to a couple of tornadoes visiting as the grandtwins came to stay while daughter and SIL went to a funeral.  What a joy to have them back in the house.
Although dry with occasional sun it’s a lot cooler today

I fitted some new bathroom doors for DD, the handles she had, with the thumbturns for the lock, did not include the actual latch and lock set, that had to be purchased separately.
Purchasing all the correct bits, and making sure they all fit together correctly, is quite a minefield.  So many variables!   Does not help if bits are missing either.

We may be heading that way come mid September, trying to make plans, we have 4 weeks to fill.

    Where are you heading next?

Nice, sunny day here, been out doing some shrub massacre.

I decided to give in to advancing years and see if we could get a man in to treat the very high up woodwork on the house, now waiting to hear the price, and hoping there will not be any bits that need replaced!

Meantime,  I need to clear some growth to allow his ladder to get in place round the side of the house, there is not a lot of width there out to the boundary wall.

That bit is closed off with a narrow gate that has seen better days, so that will be another project.  The wood is rotting after 32 years,  but  amazingly the hinges are still OK, I had thought I would need to cut them away to get access.

We have had a look at the windows, they were done more recently, most look fine, only a few sills that may need some treatment, which I will do myself, either from a small ladder (ground floor) or from inside, as the windows open wide and can be turned all the way round for cleaning and painting.

Painter has requested 10 litres of woodstain, so that  has been ordered and will hopefully come this week, it has really shot up in price since last time we needed any.   surprised

We are being overwhelmed by cucumbers!    We have 2 plants that DD gave us and they are doing exceptionally well, better than the ones she kept for herself.  So far we have eaten one and have one in the fridge, but there are another 3 almost ready to pick, and at least another 10 coming on.  May have to set up a stall on the driveway.

KjellNN with the cucumber you could make a cucumber and lettuce soup and it can be eaten hot or cold and very easy to make a BBC recipe, have made it quite a few times now even a friend of our likes it and he is a good soup maker also he was a chef many years ago.

Very hot here today 36.4C on our weather station today  a bit to hot for us so chores are done early outside and then inside, the local forecast is for storms in the new few days so will saving watering the garden.

Been a dull but warm day here today although the sun is shining at the moment. We have had a very enjoyable day visiting Eden Camp the first time we have been for a few years. Booked online this morning very easy process and everyone distancing as they should. Excellent displays and some interesting stories from people who were actually at the camp during the war the exhibitions were well laid out and informative well worth a visit we were there until just before 5.On the way back to the van we went in to Morrison’s to get some steak go put on the Cadac so we are now sitting out in the sun with a drink steaks should be ready in a few minutes. Gods own country right enough wonderful area we love it done here glad we changed our original plans and came here instead.

I was going to ask TG the same question, and for a full appraisal of Cruden Bay site too. We too hope to be heading up to the East of Scotland towards the end of September and through October. Have to sort out the trip from next Monday first though, so will be trying for sites in D & G in the morning. Wish me luck!!

OH has had a successful couple of days at the dentist, and is back with a full set once again. She had 3 injections today and an extraction, and although lots of PPE was used there was no charge for it. All she had to pay for was the modification and repair to her plate, and that was less than she had expected.

Has been a fine couple of days weather wise here. I'd found a new walking route while out on the bike last week so we did that yesterday, and hopefully if it's fine we'll head off to the beach tomorrow.

Had a lovely day walking straight from site today, picking wild raspberries en route. About 8 quite easy miles as on the flat. Back for a shower and a cold beer.

Got dropped off just at the start of the military road at a charmingly named place called Walbottle, then rode out to Chester's Roman fort just past Chollerford. Then back into Newcastle for my lift home.

Lovely sunshine, great day out, oh and WN I took your advice about a healthier breakfast had a scone jam and cream in the tearoom when I arrived.

Yes we did stay at Sunnybrae CL, have you been there? We also stayed at Bridge house at Cruden bay.

Next trip is 2 nights at Moffat, 2 at a CL near Stranraer then 2 nights at Culzean Castle C&CC site. Heading off this Friday.

Made a few mods to it today, nothing big just making it the way we want it.

Busy day today, popped out to the dealers first to pick up a few things, then a bit of food shopping.

Home and got stuck into the garden while OH did a few more mods to the MH. This afternoon I made a few cloth bags for the pots and pans to stop them rattling. smile

Nellie the CL at Cruden Bay was fine, each pitch has a grass strip next to it for sitting out on nice days, they are a good size for car/caravan/awning, pitches are small gravel and almost flat. Each pitch has its own water tap and EHU point. There is a bit of traffic noise in the morning and around teatime as folk drive to work/home, didn't bother us. The owner is a friendly chap and very helpful, he has a small business which he runs from a garage the other side of the CL. This means he is always on hand and walks back and forth from his house to the garage through the CL.

Thanks, TG. Is there anywhere by the site where I can take Flyte for a walk first and last thing without going on a busy road?

We've stopped on Sunnybrae a couple of times, and enjoyed it, although it is a bit tight with 5 vans on. Nice friendly owners.

We hope to heading up that way next week, but will be well behind you. We've used Low Glengyre Fm,  but not greatly enamoured with it......very rough drive with a caravan..
