Yes, we liked it Helen, I've left a review today. The only down side are the pitches near the road, they're well screened and have good views but the traffic noise really echoes back on them from the hillside...so go for lower down pitches, we had a nice spacious grass pitch. I think it's a good site for a short break.

The people next to us at Slapton had buckets and crab lines stored under their van....OAPS having fun! laughing

Brue  Thanks for the site update, I have just read your review.  Like you we have stayed at Dulverton but have always liked the look of Exebridge. It was probably a better choice of site at the moment as Dulverton can be really busy.

We are packed and ready to leave later this morning, only Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean, trip postponed from Easter!

Busy few days, looking after grandtwins, hospital appointment etc. Booked 2 sites for early August, one more to go

Finally got to see the hedgehog in our garden. We've seen plenty of signs it's/they are around.  Years ago we used to have a resident family

WE have are having a problem with a cat that is coming into our garden and using the veg plot as a toilet ,and have found several dead frogs,if we see it Rosa soon clears it off over one of our 6ft fences,

Anyone got any ideas to keep it away  ,one of our neighbours has suggested i borrow his shotgun surprised i would get one of these ultrasonic scarers  but it would probably affect Rosa as wellundecided

Try used teabags.  Just dry them and spread  around The affected area.  We still get the occasional drop but by and large they do leave us alone

We have just got back from a lovely 2 week break at our static van, I stepped outside our back door onto our decking to have to hold my breath, a Tom cat, probably next doors, has been spaying everywhere, leaving the most awful smell. I shoo it away when we are here. I can't use a scarer because of our own dear old female cat. My friend has suggested cut lemon slices placed around, she says they work, shopping later so will try it. Might just have to wear my mask out there in the meantime!

A hectic time here. Earlier in the week before the rain we managed to get our 2nd cut silage, and then just before the rain a lot of  bales of wonderful hay. So now it's well rotted FYM onto the fields.

Meanwhile I've been busy in the house. I've dug out our best crystal glasses, including the very best champagne flutes. What's the point of saving things for best and not using them? They're now washed and sparkling on a trolley in the corner.

I've taken a moment out on here, while some shrimps are very very gently simmering in butter. Then they'll go in small ramekins and into the fridge. Meringue shells were made yesterday and hastily put away before anyone was tempted to try one.

    Back to the grindstone!

We ventured out to IKEA today. A certain little person will be two in August and she is having an IKEA Kitchen, the toy sort, for her birthday. ( a bit of gender stereotyping therewink) It was suggested that we buy some accessories for her little kitchen. We haven't been in many shops since lockdown but IKEA was by far the worst. Far too busy for my liking and it's only when you are trying to keep a distance that you realise how narrow IKEA walkways are! As far as I could see face coverings seemed to be 100% compiled with which was good.

An unexpectedly warm and sunny day. Took a ride along the northern Tyne cycle path to Prudhoe then back along the southern shore and founds some gems along the way.

For example, Hagg Bank bridge, one of the first suspension bridges built in 1876, then the castle and, best of all, the railway station still has working semaphore signalling (yes I was in rapture too) and the sign across the bridge, I do think they need to reword that sign or at least put a comma in there to get the right meaning across.

While on the above I took a detour off the cycle path and went Gannin' alang the Scotswood Road, (not) to see the Blaydon Races but to do another then and now photograph.

Someone did the homework for me this time see here but it really is the actual same place.

Our neighbours in Cornwall have two cats, but both females - they could wander across our decking and Harry and Lady wouldn't bat and eyelid. Ralph, however .............! surprised

Just finished packing for our trip to Grassington tomorrow - we booked a cottage for the week just when we thought the lockdown would be over - have emailed to ask about the VAT situation but not expecting to hear anything positive! Weather looks a bit iffy but we've got plenty of walks sorted and it'll be good to get back to God's own (second) county! smile

Lovely dry day today. Our weather can drive you mad at times. However today was great so a long time with our boots on and very pleasant walking. A Magnums Ice cream well earned.

Back for a refreshing glass of cider.

Can't believe the "Carter" photo difference. Mind you I paid a visit at the beginning of the year to a place in Liverpool I know well. At least I used to know it well but I was lost. Nobody asked my permission to alter things.😠

It’s me! 😁 I was held hostage for a day, but on the promise of being a good little poster, I am allowed out to play again. Thanks to DK for letting me know what was going on, and to Ro for taking off the shackles.👍

I used to quite enjoy an occasional visit to Ikea until OH dropped me off in one whilst he went off to a business meeting. X hours later after he was delayed I had explored and experienced every inch of Ikea, going round and round on the famous one way system and even the wrong way round, resisting the meat balls several times en route...I am cured!! laughing

MiL had never been to an IKEA so last year we took her to the one at Warrington. Never, ever, ever again was the request.😀 Fortunately the M&S almost next door saved her day.

Ikea isn’t for me. It gets embarrassing having to ask the same person 5 times for the way out😂 I have never been in a shop like it.

Been an enjoyable day here today I got up early and headed out on the bike for a 20mile cycle in to Scarborough and along the coast a bit nice views and even although it was dull it was very warm. In the afternoon we headed up to Grosmont for a walk around and a look at the trains the workers were getting things ready as I believe they are planning on opening next weekend so they all looked busy. On the way back we called in at The Fox and Rabbit for a pint and ended up staying for a meal which was lovely the pub was very busy though. Steak pie was excellent as were the home made chips. Back at the van now Cadac all washed and away and the awning will be coming down tomorrow ready for us moving on to Blackpool on Sunday where we are meeting up with my sister and her family who are already there with their caravan. Don’t think next week will be as relaxing as the last two weeks have been.

Normally I quite like a wander around IKEA, usually starting with a coffee and a slice of apple cinnamon cake!!! Today just seemed very pressurised plus no cinnamon cake!!! In order to get into the shop you had to walk the long way round and then you had to queue. Little social distancing. Whether we are currently more aware of that I am not sure but I don't recall being so close to people in the past. Not really on our list for a return visit in the foreseeable!!!

We went to the one in Warrington for the first time last year.  Never been so lost for a long time, we seemed to go round in circles all the time!  Thinking we'd got to a different part of it, we seemed to end up in the same area, but got there via a different route somehow.  Totally baffled, maybe it's an age thing?

Not in any hurry to go back surprised

Noooo....the boys love the kitchen too!    When we are at Ikea, there Re as many boys as girls playing in the kitchen in the restaurant.

We bought Callum one for his second birthday and he just loves it, makes all sorts of things for us and his Mum and Dad to try!

He loves to do real baking with Mum, and Dad, in fact loves to take part in anything the grown ups are doing.

We had brunch with them today, and got the news that grandchild number 4 is in the making.  It is still a bit of a secret as they want to complete all the tests to make sure all is OK before telling the rest of the family.  That will be in a few weeks, and they will then also know the sex of the baby.

All being well, the arrival date will be around 21/02/21.

Not been to Ikea for months, but we need to make a trip there within the next couple of months.   DS was there a few weeks back, said it was quiet and well organised, but they went about an hour before closing time.

They had to walk all the way round, no short cuts allowed, and no direct access to the market hall, so not ideal.

Restaurant closed, but Bistro open for takeaway hot dogs.

I think the mistake we made was going in the morning and should have perhaps considered our normal time of mid afternoon.

Such lovely news for your family Kjnn. You are going to be busy in the future. I hope all goes well.

You sound as though you are having a lovely time away WN.

I hope you have a good weekend Helen and Trevor.

Francis, we went to Eden Camp when we were staying at West Ayton with some friends a few years ago and had a thoroughly good day out. I would really recommend it.

It has been a mixed bag of weather this week here.  Warm but grey for much of the time with odd spells of rain. A friend popped round on Wednesday morning and the sun came out so we had a cuppa in the garden and a nice catch up.  We also did a book swap. I have done 2 mornings on duty at the Cathedral. We have now been told that we (and the visitors) have to wear masks when on duty and also for the services - interesting!? We all found it difficult wearing masks yesterday morning as everytime we spoke to anyone our glasses steamed up and we went momentarily blind! The visitors were all great though and either had a mask on when they came in or put one on when requested.  There were a couple who didn't have masks but luckily we have a secret stash of them in the drawer.wink

Eden Camp used to be on Club’s Great Days Out scheme. It really is a good visit, a full day if you visit each hut. Not sure if it is open at the moment, a lot of places in Yorkshire are looking at 1st August re open.

Good to hear things at Cathedral are going well Millie👍

OH has sent off for some face shields Millie, they are much more comfortable to wear and see through...once you remember to remove the protective plastic film on both sides!! (Which took me a couple of minutes to find out. wink)

Trouble is you feel as though you're on a space mission...
