Lovely day here in North Yorkshire dull but very warm. My brother called me last night to say he was in the area on business so we met in Thornton le Dale for a walk around nice to see him as he stays in Edinburgh and we haven’t saw him since January. After my brother left we took a drive up to Levisham for a walk around and then called in at The Fox and Rabbit on the way back and had a pint outside which was nice great views and they have a CL which looked nice think we will stay there next time we are in the area. Back at the van now Cadac on and burgers just about to go on just getting h my beer out the cool box.

Had an interesting visit to the dentist in Chester today.
Mrs WN had a temporary filling put in in early March before our supposed trip to Spain and France and an appointment in early May to have a crown fitted. Obviously the May appointment went by the wayside. The dentist said that it is her intention to complete the work but after taking out the temporary filling and taking a cast for the crown her surgery area would have to be closed for an hour to perform a deep clean. So Mrs WN asked to make an appointment for the hour before lunch time to enable things to be done without disrupting the surgery too much. No mention on any additional fees above and beyond the normal.
Back home to a home made Smoked Haddock Mornay with home made potato croquettes. Yum. Nice and easy on the teeth.🦷😁

So pleased to hear that all away or just back have had or are having a good time. It is nice to know that things seem to be working well on the sites. I have a routine check up at the dentist booked for October so it is going to be interesting to know whether that will take place. It was said on TV (The One Show) this evening that it could be next year before they take place
. I am still waiting to hear about my cataract op. I had the initial appt back in Feb and was put on the list and told it would be about 2 months and no more than 3 months. Goodness knows when it will take place now.I have had a busy week. Tuesday morning at the Cathedral and yesterday morning I finally went to see my close friend with her birthday present. Her birthday was 3rd April - better late than never! It was so good to see her at last. OH and I visited 2 garden centres in the afternoon and manged to get some nice plants and some gas for the gas weed killer at long last. Gardening today, putting in the new plants and general tidying after all the rain. Back at the Cathedral tomorrow morning. I am not sure I can cope with all this busyness after so long taking each day as it comes

Stay safe all those away.

Bi~vocals JVB ?? Are you accusing me of speaking with 'forked tongue' ?? or even speaking out of ' both sides of my face' perhaps ??

I tried varifocals but just could not get on with them, so I went back to my old specs and had the v/fs in the van for a while, till I got a fresh script.

Can highly recommend the Fox and Rabbit. CL is nice, two pitching areas, pub is lovely. They have some nice holiday cottages as well. If you drove into Levisham, you might have seen The Horseshoe pub? This is sister pub to F&R, owned by another brother, equally as nice. We used F&R in Winter as it has HS pitches, but if you are out that way again, turn down into Lockton, avoid the route that goes to Levisham, but carry straight on, to end of village, and you will find another lovely CL, called Ashfield Caravan Site. Very quiet, tucked away, lovely owners. Weather is picking up nicely, hope it stays warm for you👍
Bike ride for me today, out with OH. I am a bit wary of some of his rides, but we had a lovely afternoon today, including a nice picnic half way round. Can’t believe some of hills we climbed, but I and my little motor managed ok. I have started taking photos of some of the shocking cycle paths around us, hoping to embarrass our local authority into sorting a few things out. Some parts of what we did today were bordering on inaccessible. Left leg nettled riding out, right leg to match going home!😂

I have had a quiet day, doing more rummaging through stuff in my tool room, trying to tidy a bit. OH was out for a little shopping and picked up prescriptions. Hers was ordered last week, but I only put in my request late last night, so she was amazed when the pharmacist asked if she was to get my prescription too. Less than 15 hours, must be a record!
Yesterday we had an unexpected visit to DD and Callum, she had the afternoon off and wanted some company. Callum was very excited to see us and spent the whole afternoon either running around or jumping up and down, he will have slept well last night. I was certainly exhausted afterwards!
Mixed weather today, some sun and some rain, what I need is some dry and warm, but not too sunny, weather, so I can get on with treating the woodwork on the house.
Meantime we are trying to decide where to go for our 30 days away in September/October. Had thought to head north, but many sites, of both clubs, are closed, and CLs/CSs are very thin on the ground, and weather can be uncertain, so perhaps we should head south this autumn, then north next spring.

TtDA,
can you not do a Boudicca / Boadicea modification to the wheels on your bikes ?? You know ~~ the one with scythe like blades to cut back the weeds in general and ensure that those super-energetic runners keep a "Social" { & sociable } distance of course

Blimey, it is quiet on here today -- 12 hours since Kj's post now me oh 'eck

As it seems most people lurk or post on this thread ,i cannot find where JK posted about the now 1300 arrival times for sites ,
For everyone's info ,it is just a temporary measure while sites are having to do deep cleans of the facilities blocks and will revert to normall arrival times at a future date?
When ever that might be if what some experts are saying

I have asked why it has not been notified officialy to members? unless I cannot find it

I can't find any notification either JVB. Clumber site page still shows 12:00. When we went past the turn to the site yesterday at 12:30 there were caravans back to Lime Tree Avenue. So perhaps not that many are aware. Might be even more interesting today.

The reason we were passing Clumber site entrance yesterday was we were taking a slightly more scenic route to Brodsworth Hall, instead of straight up the A 614. We did join the A1 after Clumber though and that didn't look much different to normal times, so I fear the easier drives are over. Brodsworth was by a timed booking and was exceptionally good, everything very well trimmed and flower beds planted up. They have been open a while though and at least yesterday seemed to have volunteers back working.
Just back from shopping and giving the masks a trial run. The ones the OH had made that hooked over my ears kept falling off as the elastic was a bit thick and there wasn't room for my glasses as well. The bought ones with the narrower elastic stayed on OK. However, the best was one OH had made with elastic that went around your neck and head and was easy to pull down between shops.
I suppose with increased use my opinion might change but at the moment I can't see us visiting any museums or stately homes, if they should be required there. They are OK for a quick shop but I would prefer not to wear one for an extended period.

On the front page (there's also a list for Scotland and Wales). Someone posted the link on a Facebook Group.

Very busy day again. Packing the caravan, which always brings an extra spring in the step to me. Then packed the car and decided to edge the lawns and mow them again as we will be away for a week. Nice warm day with plenty of sunshine.
MiL happy bunny as she had a haircut today and also came back on a bus, only 3 of them on it. So she is beginning to reintegrate back into her normal routine. Doesn't help though that she has read of various lockdowns in Spain.
Booked couple of NT places for next week, Dunham Massey and Quarry Bank. Looking forward to a relaxing week.
Ttda, there is mention of Ashfield in the CL section, being the one with a minimum of 7 night booking, so anyone wishing to book that site need be aware of the T&Cs. Daresay it's not a problem if you are booking a weeks cottage at the same time.

Managed to contact Cycle Saviours (charity) yesterday about the old mountain bikes. They had only just reopened and were happy to take them. Apparently they either do them up and sell on or cannibalise for spare parts and if neither of those options work they use them to train new people in the skills of rebuilding a bike so one way or another they will be of use. Managed to get them in the car, minus front wheels, and delivered them today.
Even managed to sell my old Aquaroll to my neighbours son for £15, just a shame he didn't want the Wastemaster as then I would have had even more spare room!!!

As part of my services to CT and to you all I went and had breakfast in North Shields this morning, and I can confirm that yes the price I paid was 12.5% cheaper than last time. No need to thank me, it's a service I willingly will provide over the last few weeks.
It was a little harder cycling after that but a pleasant ride through some back streets and sights I hadn't seen before.

But most interestingly of all is that North Tyneside council have spent some money for the greater good, (ie me) and taken up half the seafront road from Tynemouth to Whitley Bay and given it to cyclists! The road for cars is now a one way system
Well done North Tyneside!
It will useful for anyone at Old Hartley.

It's been very warm and sunny today, had a surprise visit from our eldest son and his girlfriend, it was lovely to see them. Apart from that it's been a fairly busy week at work, so looking forward to the weekend now.
Hope you have a lovely week Wherenext, our youngest son visited Dunham Massey last weekend he said because of the booking system it was the quietest he had ever known it. We visited in February when staying with them and it was really busy even on a cold winter day, lovely place though.
Brue: enjoy you break Devon, and Cornersteady your breakfast looks good.

It was brilliant for cycling up there when we stayed Corners, shows what can be done.👏👏👏
This is what passes for a cycle path in our town. Very dodgy surface, badly overgrown and a couple of feet from 60mph (and more) traffic. I am taking some very interesting photos.....😡

That cycle way leaves a lot to be desired, Tda, but pleased to read that you've been out on the bike. Vinegar is good for stopping nettle stings from irritating, or so I'm led to believe.
Have a good trip away, WN. We may find out early next week if we can get away, it still nothing booked yet. Good to read that MIL is finding that things are getting back to normal for her.
Weather has been miserable here since after the weekend, with low cloud and drizzle or rain each day. Not done an awful lot, although I'm managing to do my 20,000+ steps every day, mostly out walking with Flyte.

Not been at all bad down here in Cheshire, I've even had the urge to get the toys out & [ savagely ] trim the bushes, shrubs and taller weeds then settling down to watch the Crikkit on BBC2 before the rains arrive later tonight. Probably spoil a promising day at Old Trafford but I will at least get the w/end papers puzzles done & probably finish my book on 'Kindle' !!
TtDA, I could turn up & hack back those bushes etc but a) I would need somebody to tidy up after me and b ) I'm a very expensive bush-hacker !!

It’s possible there will be further lockdowns so today I decided I needed to stockpile some stuff so ordered 8 crates of Adnams for delivery next week🍺🍺🍺
Lovely day here in East Norfolk morning walk along the river/harbour and watched the heavy lift ship lift a 1500 ton redundant platform topside on to the quay for recycling.
Afternoon walk to beach and a paddle In the sea. Quite a few folk around and most acting sensibly by distancing.

I am almost impervious to all but the worst stings Nellie, years of gardening😁 Cycling is going well, I am a lot more confident, but still find it scary on our roads. Town traffic takes no prisoners☹️ Hope you manage to get away, but I’d choose carefully, SIL came back from Lakes yesterday, and said social distancing on sites and in towns none existent. (Not Club Sites, they aren’t members)
I hope you get away as well WN. I am sure your MIL will be fine.
ABM, we pay our Council tax for the local roads and paths to be looked after, but it getting worse year on year. Even the ring fenced funding for cycling is ill spent, they haven’t a clue really.
Its actually been a glorious sunny, hot day here. Bit of cloud come in now, and I think it’s starting to rain. Saves me watering though. Picnic with Mum and Sister planned for tomorrow, all being well.
Finally, I know not every one likes football, but fantastic news that Leeds United will finally be back up into the PL next season, after 16 long years in the lower leagues. My Dad was a big LU supporter, regular at Elland Road in the 1960/70s, back when they were at their best. Well done at long last Leeds👏

Not of particular of personal interest, although well done them. However one of my stockeepers was a great Leeds fan and was often keen to point out the shortcomings of Southampton!!! His dad drew my avatar! Funnily enough his wife also worked with me when I moved onto the financial side of the business. Only time I have interviewed someone accompanied by a baby in a pram!!! She was returning from maternity leave.

Been a lovely warm day here hottest day of our holiday so far. I got up early and went a 18 mile cycle very enjoyable on roads all the way but fairly quiet country ones so not too bad and some lovely countryside scenery. After getting back SWMBO went online and booked us a visit to Scarborough castle you now need to book on line and they give you a time slot to arrive but it worked well. The castle was very good it had been a few years since we visited we were there for over 3 hours and had a nice Walk around the grounds and admired the views across the town and out to sea. Popped in to Morrison’s on the way back to the van for some essentials (beer and wine) and the. Cooked pizzas on the Cadac lovely as usual. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours sitting out chatting in the awning the rain. Has just started now forecast not great for tomorrow so not sure what we will be doing.

Francis I feel the need to pick your brains. Your post couldn’t have come at a better time.......we cooked pizzas on our cadac for the first time last night. Having watched some you tube videos during the week on what to do and not do.
I prepared them inside the van while the pizza stone warmed up with the cadac. We managed the tricky transfer from the prep board to the pizza stone. 😬 but after giving them 8mins of cooking time, the topping was only just cooked but the base was burnt. 😠 Please advise. Do you cook homemade pizzas or shop bought ready ones? We need more practice on this.☺️0 -
Beautiful weather here yesterday. I was at the Cathedral in the morning and the sun seemed to have brought people out. It was lovely to see some more people around, although it is a shame that some don't want to fill in their contact details for track and trace. We try to assure them that all is kept safely under lock and key and shredded after 3 weeks. Their details are not sent anywhere it is just so we can contact them should anyone let us know they have since got Covid. I feel that I am turning people away but I have to follow the rules sadly.
I fear that we in this area are at threat of another lockdown as we are in the top 10 for the infection rate. While most of us followed the strict lockdown and didn't go anywhere or meet up with family and friends for a long 4 months, which we found difficult, there is one area here where people have absolutely not adhered to lockdown in anyway at all since day 1 and have just led their normal lives and even visited friends and family in other towns. I am SO angry.
How lovely to have a surprise visit from your son and his girlfriend Helen. It lifts the spirits doesn't it. I hope you have a good trip away WN and that MIL will be OK. If she manages fine it might well give her more confidence for the future. I have never visited Scarborough Castle Francis. I must put that on my iist.
Sadly eldest grand-daughter's fiance was told last week that he is not going to be taken back after his furlough and is to be made redundant. His department of 9 people were all furloughed and only 2 taken back. He was the most expensive so wasn't one of those 2. Very worrying times as they have a young baby and a mortgage to pay. As grand-daughter is now back teaching after her maternity leave he is full time Daddy to our lovely great-grandson at the moment but will have to try and find another job soon.
Has anyone heard from Bakers2 recently?
