Sarcasm over !!
Now I'm taking a short break from up-dating my piccies, so on here & listening to TMS chat about Cream Slices, Eclairs, wooden tea trollies with china cups, proper 3 litre stainless tea pots, all cups on saucers each with it's own spoon. Now I cannot hear the radio due to the rumblings of the ABM Tum !!
Think I'll get back to the 'up-dates'
Tara for now

So am I, any hint of rain and that’s me done. It was more the breeze that I was wary of today, but it was fine. I have only stayed local, but I am exploring localities I had no idea existed, and having a nosy at peoples gardens. There are a lot of private roads, with beautiful big houses, and if you took a car down alarm bells would be ringing, but you can get away with it on a bike!😁
It has highlighted to me though just how pathetic our Council has been in terms of cycle path provision, and keeping cyclists safe. I would say 80% of my ride today was on pedestrian roadside paths, some shared with pedestrians, but they are in an appalling condition, lots of damage, lots of road furniture, overhanging greenery etc..... I need to start taking some photos and creating a stink really, see if it stirs our pathetic Council up a bit. A lot would feature in “worst cycle lanes ever”. This lockdown has been my first cycling activity for years in my local area, and it really highlights just how good some places are now, when we go away.

Managed two visits today and some nice walks. First Montacute House, the normally neat formal grass had been cut into Elizabethan garden shapes and families with children were enjoying picnics amongst the designs. A good idea, looked attractive and it must save on mowing just now. Spotted some vandalism.
Then up to Ham Hill for some great views across Somerset to the Quantocks. The monument is a popular viewpoint.

Can't understand these dentist charges for PPE. All of these extra costs can be written down as Amortization and can be written down as tax relief in the annual accounts.
If our dentist tries it with us then we're moving dentist.
The MiL went in for an eye test about 10 days ago and the independent opticians that we all use has purchased a new machine that costs £40,000. This replaces the old fashioned way of replacing the lense in the old machine that meant they sat quite close to the patient and the new machine means they can all socially distance even in the inspection aspect. The only time the optician came close was when they use that puffer in the eye for whatever reason. Daresay thebells could tell us if she still looks in. However there was NO additional cost to MiL. Optician needed 3 of these machines plus extra PPE equipment. Charging patients is a bit of a rip off in my opinion.
Caravan in for service today. Using Independent engineers who are Coachman approved so no need for long trip up the M6. Will need to return in late October for a minor matter.
Actually saw sun all day long today. Not breaking any temperature records but after 3 days of rain it was good to see.

Oh that’s nicer than York😁 Further from us, you might not get the rain🤞
Corners, I have to by psyched up for a bike ride. Check out this climbing profile, everywhere around us goes up, then down. First three and a half miles today, an unrelenting climb. These are pussy cat hills as well, OH does the mean stuff. You have to have your wits about you downhill as well....😱 I do have a motor, but I try not to use it it much, but climb out, roll down back is by far the best policy😂

Brue, £50 each visit for invasive treatment is a bit rich. I though our dentist was having a laugh at £39. Didn't get round to calling other Denplan dentist in the area today but will get on to it on Monday. I know now is a bad time to move dentists but I am not going to pay their over inflated prices.
Busy day today, food shopping first thing, then visit to sister and BIL to have a look at their new kitchen.
Then went to collect my new (to me) Picanto
love it, great to have my own little run around again. This afternoon we gave the PVC a really good clean and polish its looking like new now

Francis have a great holiday in Scarborough.

🤷♀️Well, not sure what the heck is going on in South Yorks re C19.
Some residents have had an email urging that they get tested even if not showing any symptoms, other residents have had nothing, and there is nothing in either local or National news. I checked source, and yes, there it is on our Council website, along with information that one company has shut down part of its site due to 35 testing positive. Not named. Yet Govt website has cases falling rapidly this week, no longer such a risk. It’s all as clear as mud.
I am really fed up, as I managed a first meet up with my Mum and Sister in three months, and we had planned a couple of hours out together on Sunday, our first since 14th March. Our little two household bubble. All in masks, car disinfected, take a picnic. Absolutely gutted to be honest☹️ 😢

Could be the same down in England shortly, by all accounts.
Hope you and the family are staying safe, Robsail.

Glad that you managed a ride out today, Tda, and without mishap too.
Good to hear that the service went ok, WN. Hope that the guys are able to sort out the minor problem when you next take it in.
Your day outspoken grand, brue. Good that you have such nice places to visit sexist hand.
It has been fine and dry here with plenty of sunshine this afternoon.

With those sort of additional charges, brue, people will stop visiting their dentist. I heard today that quite a large number of dentist will not be able to continue financially and will be closing their practices, and are asking the Government for help. This virus is causing a lot of unexpected problems over and above the purely medical ones.

Yes I know what you mean about cycle paths. Some are very good, and Newcastle and North Tyneside are excellent, tarmac all the way, but as you say some are terrible and not fit to be called cycle paths.
The other week I did the 'commuter' path from Ryhope into Sunderland and it was awful, a full suspension mountain bike was needed as it was so muddy and rocky. Worst of all it had these vertical metal bar things every mile to stop motorcycles using it, not vertical but sloping inwards and you couldn't get your handlebars through them unless you twisted one end in first then the other.
The sustrans routes are generally very good though. Just got a new book from them called Traffic Free Cylcle Rides 150 great days out, it is really good, covers the whole of England, Scotland and Wales but has quite a few to each area. Give details of the sights along the way, where to eat and drink, B&Bs, gradient, and local cycle shops.

Yep North Tyneside was excellent when we stayed up there. It’s the commuter stuff that’s very poor and unsafe, we have TPT and lots of Sustrans stuff, that’s very good. But it’s getting there safely to link up that’s the issue. One of our major highways, mainly dual carriageway, linking a big township to town centre is a fabulous potential commute, all down hill, a good cyclist could do it if around 15 minutes flying on a safe protected cycle path. But instead there’s either nothing, or bits with cars parked over the cycle lane.

Woke up here to a lovely sunny day the sun is away just now but still warm and it’s showing nice weather today on the weather app. Just a relaxing day after driving for the last couple of days so we had breakfast out in the awning and just heading out soon not too sure where we are going yet SWMBO wants to find an Aldi for some supplies.

Not sure how long you are there for, but this is a lovely visit, mainly outdoors, in a very pretty village. Good food at the pub as well, we last ate outdoors.....Not too far from Scarborough

C~c~cool here in South Cheshire, not due to wind or anything like that, but in this morning's post there came two (2) different envelopes each with a nice, polite request for me to buy their Christmas Cards !
R S P B is one of 'em ~~ Must have risen to the top of the " Mail Him Today " list due to buying from them a load of suet treats for the birds to gorge themselves on
.T'other one is the charity card from B T Benevolent Fund ~~ one of my regular customers
. So now I'll have to get my C/card list out & count up how many folks I'll grace with my autograph, check how many I've still got left over from previous years -- must not waste any cards, wraps, etc in these modern "ecologically sound" days { Another way of saying ABM is following the family trait of carefulness with the pennies }

Just got back from Thornthorpe CS, near Malton, after a lovely week away. How wonderful it is to be away in the van again.
Unloaded the car and started to clean the inside of the van - quick turnaround because we are off to High Breame CL, at Flamborough for 10 days from Wednesday. I think all the kit that has come out of the car will be getting dizzy because it will be back in again on Tuesday!
These sites could have safely been opened weeks ago - we have not come into close contact with anyone and with the use of disposable gloves for water taps / emptying the loo etc and a modicum of common sense we have managed to have a much needed holiday without putting ourselves or anyone else at risk.
That said, we're definitely making the most of it for the time being. I have a strong suspicion that come the colder weather on which this virus supposedly thrives, we will probably be in lockdown again before the end of the year.

Enjoy your stay at Scarborough Francis.
A lovely day here in North Wales, making a nice change.😀 Had an enjoyable walk this morning then started to repack the caravan. It's beginning to feel more like our 'van now. Taken a while. Have to say we were very impressed at the way the servicing company left the caravan. It was spotless and they told us they had wiped every single surface down, which we could believe as we'd taken the squabs and backrests out. Basically, the caravan was empty.
Finish packing tomorrow. If this weather keeps up we'll wander down to the local during the week. They have a large beer garden.

Busy day again today. OH doing little MODS to the new MH. I was once again at the sewing machine making 'things' for the MH. Plus the usual housework type stuff.
Had lots of interruptions, folk stopping to chat as they pass by. OH's friends calling by to borrow tools, some just wanting to be nosy
The this afternoon by BIL and sister came out to borrow tools, of course she had to have a look at my new car and what had we been doing in the MH.Weather started out a bit iffy but as the day went on it got better and better, by late afternoon we had lovely blue skies and nice sunshine, quite warm to.
Tomorrow I will have to spend some time in the garden again as the front grass requires cutting, didn't get the chance to do it when I did the back grass as the rain came on and I had to abandon it. There is also a couple of bushes that need a trim as they have now finished flowering, OH has the front hedge to cut to so both busy again tomorrow.
I have searched high and low for the covers for the memory foam toppers to go in the MH, I know I took them off to wash them but can I find them not on your nelly. We have both checked the boxes in the attic, the laundry room, the linen cupboard, drawers under the beds. Everywhere that they might have been put until needed again, I'm at a loss as to where they have gone. If I can't find them tomorrow I'll have to make some more.
Glad you had a good trip R&R, we had a few days away and like you fully enjoyed it. We are off again on Wednesday

It’s a very interesting place, we love it. Unfortunately, most of the best Yorkshire attractions open in August (Abbeys, Castles, NYMoors Railway, Helmsley Walled Garden, Etc...) but just walking on NY Moors, or having a drive around if you get a damp day is nice. With luck, some of the moorland churches might be open, if you like things like that.

Gosh, it's quiet on here today. Nearly 4 o'clock before anyone posts. Have I missed an announcement?
Francis, if you've taken your bike you could drive to Ravenscar, park by the NT kiosk/cafe and cycle to Robin Hoods Bay along the old railway line. The former Alum works at Ravenscar is worth a meander around and if fit you could always walk along the coast path down to RHB for a pint in one of the many pleasant pubs there.
A busy day today. After a good quiet walk around the lanes then we got stuck into repacking the caravan and doing some gardening. Also did most of the prep work for a Lasagne for tonight. Mowed the lawn, had a coffee and popped on here only to find I'm Billy-no-mates.
Hope those away have a good day and those at home have enjoyed the weather.
Ttda, did you get to have your picnic with your mum and sis?

An early start today, OH off solo fishing on the river Parrett and visiting dog here for an overnight stop. His" parents" can take up their musical instruments again and they had an outdoors get together with others last night.
So a nice quiet dog walk, both dogs walk together quite well and good day spent mostly outside.
When the wanderers returned we had an ice-cream and cup of tea in the garden. All quiet now.

So you're not Billy No-mates Wherenext!
