Had a great ride out along the Durham to Bishop Auckland cycle path.
To my shame we've only passed Bishop Auckland in the car when travelling to the Lakes using the main road next to it and never ventured nearer. It is worth a visit if anyone is the area or is passing that, perhaps a MH wanting a rest and tearoom stop?
There is also a statue of Arthur Stanley Jefferson, I'm sure you all know who that is. Bonus points anyone?
On the way a quick stop at Brancepeth a lovely little village outside Durham, lovely church and its own castle.
And a visit to my favourite CL which appear to be doing well.

Another miserable drizzly day here.Wales is living down to its reputation this week.
Had copious vials of blood taken from me today, never to be seen again. We had a brief respite just after lunch so we moved the caravan around from the side of the house to the front so we can empty it tomorrow before the service on Friday. Easier emptying from the front plus it allows us an easier start.

It’s our Golden Wedding in a couple of weeks, and all plans are in abeyance. I couldn’t think what to buy my husband, so we have agreed to wait and buy something together for both of us. That may well have happened today. Our ancient (10 - 15 years?) washer gave up the ghost with some very ominous clunks. It has a hard life - normal washing, plus filthy farm work clothes and calf jackets, so it doesn’t owe us anything. After much research I’ve ordered a new one (Samsung) - based on 5 year guarantee, large capacity and fast spin. I think my phone will do the washing for me. It seems to be all touch screen now.
Surprisingly it will arrive tomorrow , but it may be some time before the men in my life get it installed.
Please, no one tell me that Samsung are rubbish!

No, not rubbish Goldie ~~ Indeed I carry one around with me most of the day.!! Not a washing mne I admit but I could not hold one of them to my ear, Honest

Any way Might I be permitted to tender my , rather early but still heart-felt, Congratulations & Very Best Wishes to You & Yours from the lodgers in the County Palatine

The Bishops Palace is well worth a visit Corners. They were busy doing up the Walled Garden area last time we were there, not sure how well that is going. We found the town a bit depressing.
Another interesting stop off is Staindrop Church, not far from a Raby Castle. Has some famous Beaufort tombs.

Thanks one and all for you kind words. The really sad thing is that she died alone, as her son could not visit her in the care home. This virus is a killer not only for those that catch it, but has obviously resulted in other deaths too.

Please, no one tell me that Samsung are rubbish!
A bit late now

All I can say is that my Samsung phone is very good so fingers crossed that the same applies to washing machines. I seem to have an idea one of my son's has a Samsung and never heard him complain.
Perhaps bourne out from the time I was in the Large Electrical trade we have stuck with Bosch but in fairness Samsung at the time did not have any representation in the large electricals. The South Koreans make good cars so why not good washing machines!!!

Goldie, Samsung is a good choice. We’ve had one for a few years now and it’s much better than any other make of washing machine we’ve had. Big load capacity, fast spin and the daily wash program only takes an hour. And it plays a little tune to tell you it’s finished......🙂
Off to work for us now. Just a short walk into the dining room for me....

Groan , Groan, Groan

Rain, rain, rain....but tomorrow and the next two weeks sunny I hope?!
On Friday, have booked a walk around the gardens at NT Montacute, can take the dog, only managed to get a late slot but it will be good to see the things once more. A friend who volunteers in the gardens said the formal grass areas where knee high a couple of weeks ago so I expect the mowers have been busy.

Take heart Nellie, my Aunt 98 recently died in a Care Home, we were told that she was going. For 3 days and nights someone from the Home was with her or very near by. At the end there were two members of staff, they put photos of her late husband all around her and held her hand until the end. We were told we could see her briefly through the window but it is a 6 hour round journey and they didn't think she would know us. Her friend did visit each day, through the window. The Home went to great lengths to allow her Minister to visit, which would have meant everything to her. The Home arranged for us to Skype her but I'm not sure she recognised us.I'm sure your cousins Home did similar and would have cared for your cousin in the absence of family. I can't praise my Aunts Care enough and the dedication of the staff. Such a difficult time for them. We did however go to the funeral, some places are relaying funerals over the internet for families who can't attend.

Back home again after our 3 nights away at Tarland by Deeside. Really enjoyed being away again, feel so much more relaxed.
The site didn't have the facilities open and that will be the case for the rest of the year as the block isn't big enough to allow social distancing.
There was hand sanitisers at all the water points, the bins and chemical toilet point. Not bottles but the proper fixed hand sanitiser dispensers. Site staff came round every couple of hours and cleaned and sanitised the equipment. All visitors observing distancing rules. Feel confident now about going away again.
First time to the site and would use again. Weather was a bit mixed but we never got wet once so can't complain. We managed 3 cycle rides out and one day driving around the area taking in Banchory and Alford.
Some folk out and about in Banchory but a lot of the shops not yet open, some are doing so this weekend.
At Alford we went into the country park at Haughton house to look at the campsite there. What a sorry sight it was, very run down. The pitches were all but taken over by weeds and grass. Looks like no one has been in to maintain the grounds at all. Some of the mobile homes had owners in them but they didn't look any better either. Such a shame as it was a lovely site the last time we used it. Hope they get back into working condition soon.
Doctors, our Dr's surgery have no pre bookable appointments we have to call at 8 am to ask for a telephone consult, the Dr will then call you back at some point, once spoken to, the Dr will then decide if you need to go to the surgery for a face to face. The only problem is getting through at 8 am.

NTH sorry to hear your sad news. Thank you for giving feed back about the dentist, will need to make a call tomorrow to see what the story is as not happy.

Just got off the phone to my dentist, the 'small' charge that they are implementing for PPE is to be £5.30 for check ups and hand descaling and £39 for fillings etc. I have advised them that if that is the case I will be moving my Denplan to another dental practice or cancelling it altogether. No charge for NHS patients.

Big day today, first haircut since the beginning of March, hairdresser actually asked if I wanted to keep it long!!
Weather has been cloudy with some rain but very humid. Have packed the caravan and car, ready for our weekend away tomorrow. Have arranged to meet youngest son over the weekend, hopefully for a walk and picnic. Having worked all through the lockdown I think I deserve a couple of days away .

Tammygirl glad you enjoyed your short break.

Enjoy the trip Helen. We're not away for another 9 days yet. Just a week on a fairly local CL.
Interesting to read Tammys account. Did you buy the Picanto TG?
Another filthy day of continuous drizzle. Had to unpack the caravan as service day tomorrow. Everything taken out. Boy, why do we have so much stuff?
Had to laugh as Mrs WN got aFB message giving her a date for haircut. We're away at the CL that week.😱😂 Awaiting new appointment.

Hope you have a good well earned break H&T, we certainly enjoyed ours.

WN, Yes I did buy the Picanto, or should I say I will tomorrow, as I'm going to pick it up then

It will be interesting to see if the Dentist concerned phones me (the person on reception said she would ask him to) I've been with him at least 20 years on Denplan and 10 years prior to that as NHS. I've already made note of other Denplan dentists in our area so will try and find out if they are charging for PPE and if they are taking on new patients. Failing that I've also got a short list of NHS dentist that are still taking on new patients. This flipping Covid is causing all kinds of problems, on the news it said that some dentist will probably go out of business altogether.

Weather started out rainy but cleared up about lunchtime, so only a short ride into Durham centre this afternoon. Nice coffee sitting outside just before the green.

Sorry to hear that about your dentist, and don't blame you for your actions. As it happens OH received a phone call from ours yesterday, when I was out on a bike ride, and they have been given the go ahead to take impressions etc, so she has a couple of appointments for the 20th & 21st, and no mention of any additional charges. So if all goes well we can be looking to get away before the end of the month.
Glad you liked Tarland, we have used it a couple of times and enjoyed the area. Good dog walk in the wood just up the road from the site. There used to be CL up there too but it must have closed, unfortunately.

We've had 2 dry days on the trot!
went for a walk on Birkrigg Common Yesterday morning...super clear views all round, from Blackpool Tower, over Bowland Fell, then Ingleborough, the Howgills, the full expanse of the Southern Fells round to Blackcombe, and on the far western horizon the Isle of Man. After lunch my first bike ride for over a week, so legs are feeling it a bit today.Lots of tidying up done in the house, airing cupboard and small store room, so plenty stuff for the next charity bag.

TG
That is a hefty additional charge when having a filling!!! It looks as if the private patients will be subsidising the NHS ones as the NHS won't pay more than the contracted fees. I looked on our dentist website no mention of extra costs. They charge in increments of five minutes, each five minutes costing £22.50 with a minimum of £45.00. Previously our dentist would often do a minor repair when you were having a checkup but I don't suppose that can happen any longer?

Just heard today our dentist is charging £50 towards PPE, on a temporary basis, ha ha. Having read it cost him £10000 to set the PPE up that's a lot of £50s...a neighbour had 3 appointments booked, £50 for each one!!
(Thinks, must try not to crunch my teeth on anything for as long as possible.)0 -
Frustrating day here, once minute bright warm sunshine, then overcast, then rain, then repeat.

We’ll that’s us arrived in sunny Yorkshire. Left home yesterday and stopped off at Barnard Castle club site (needed ay eye test lol) the site was very busy only 4 or 5 pitches free but everyone seems to be following the new rules so felt fine. Left there just before 11 today and made our way down the A1 started raining heavily as we approached York but by the time we arrived here on site the sun was out so we are now set up for the next couple of weeks awning up Cadac built and now sitting out having a cup of coffee enjoying the sun. A66-A1 wasn’t too busy yesterday or today but lots of caravans out.

Had a bit of a windfall today, trying to think of what to spend it on.

Are you on BG or YRP Francis? Not that it matters, just me being nosy😂 Weather forecast for coming weekend is good, although I suspect you may well have just had a torrential downpour, or it’s heading up to you as I type🤣
I have done a Corners today. Left pooch sitting to OH, and been out on my bike exploring again. Lovely sunny ride, and just got back as the heavens opened.....timing!👍🚴♂️

Wish I'd been able to go out, every time I got ready it started to rain, yes I know I'm a wimp but I'm a dry weather cyclist
Glad to hear you a good ride out.
