Had a ride to Houseteads roman fort site, by car though, we had to pre-book our entry time but otherwise it was the same. Warm day and had a picnic in the grounds.

Also noticed they had dedicated parking for Motor homes and caravans.

A very busy day here. We’ve finally got the decking replaced, cleaned and repainted. It looks lovely. We spent today replanting the pond plants.....no waders required....thankfully. Lots of frogs jumped out at us and the fish went into hiding. All cleaned and settled now though. Time to enjoy the results with a glass of fizz.

Lovely weather here for most of the day so we have had a relaxing day. We didn’t leave site until about 1ish and we headed up to Flanborough Head for a walk aroundwe hadn’t been up there for years It was a nice walk along the cliff with nice views out to sea. Came back via Bridlington which looked really busy so we plan to visit there on a week day. Got back to the van about half 5 and cooked chops on the Cadac which was lovey now just sitting outside with a beer enjoying the sun.

WN - I do have my bike so will take your recommendation and do that route Many Thanks

Another fine day, and the most sun we've had for a while. A slightly different walk with Flyte in the morning and the I went for a 3 hrs bike ride this afternoon. The air was so clear at even from sea level I was able to see some of the Welsh hills, I guess the Clwydian range and The Great Orme. It was still warm enough after dinner to sit out for a while with my shirt off....it's been a while since I could do that.

We have had a good weekend😁 Sat/Sun, lovely weather, so dog walking nice, bit of house and car cleaning Saturday, had a look at the testing station erected to encourage locals to get a test. Army run, not a soul there when we drove past, but 200m on, pub was heaving. If they tried test and a free pint it would work better🤷‍♀️ However, there are other drive through testing stations, so hope they had more business. Be interesting to see what take up rate, and results are. We had glorious sight of a Spitfire overhead, thanking our local hospital.

Sunday, glorious sunshine, so this household did something it’s been wanting to do for the last four months. OH took himself out on the road for a proper bike ride, his first in over three months. I picked up Mum and Sister, and we had our first day out together since 14th March. Picnic at a lovely little spot on the Chesterfield Canal, saw a few other walkers and cyclists, but all social distancing. Mum did a long walk for her, along canal, it was lovely watching birds, dragon flies, fish, saying hello to bargees (fabulous way to be in lockdown👍) Dropped them off back at home, and then OH and I sat outside having a meal in the garden. Two hours reading a book and watching sun go down on garden swing, rounded off a lovely day😁

Awaiting any more news on how testing has gone now in town. If all is ok, hoping to get out with Mum again later in week.🤞But it will be well away from others, scenery viewing, our own food, no shopping. Masks we ordered have just arrived, great quality, and nice designs. Washable and with removable filter pocket. Colours to match various outfits.......

    😁

TDA. Sounds great for you all to have got out in your different ways. Our visits out have made us feel a bit more "normal" I don't suppose things will be as they were before this Covid outbreak, it's like a new world out there just now, strange but do-able with care.

Just thinking about getting the van ready for our two short follow on trips. OH is cleaning the outside of the van, covered in dust after a previous clean. Trying to plan some food as I don't want to do food shopping when away but might use a couple of pub take aways if available, have been looking at the "locals" in advance and all seem to be offering this service.

First holiday in the van for the dog, although having been rescued from a tent originally she'll be used to the outdoor life. wink

Not a great deal going on today. MiL was taken into town to pick up her glasses. All very proper at the Opticians.

We're trying to figure out what we want to do in September. It's becoming clear that MiL is getting a bit more agitated, not at the thought of us going away (which she does as a matter of course) but the thought of us going abroad as we are seeing an increase in "What if...?" questions.

I really do wish Tesco's and the like had kept their restrictions in place as she was beginning to come around to actually going shopping again. Now that it's back to allowing more people in and no distancing or one way system she's back to square one. Perceptions of being safe is so important to the vulnerable.

So we are no nearer to coming to a decision. We are away next week and we are hoping to have a better understanding of what we can expect after that.

Another busy day  here again, been busy on the sewing machine making things for the new MH. smile

OH been busy doing little mods to, its starting to look like ours now. smile

Getting ready to head off again for 6 days this time, 2 different CL's. It should give us time to sort out anything else that we might need to do. Hope the weather plays ball so we can get out on the bikes and enjoy the area.

brue, I'm the same taking food with us, rather than buy as we go along. Hope you have a good trip.

    TTDA, your weekend sounds lovely.

Pleased to see / hear you've all been enjoying yourselves, as I was 'til I came on herefrown  Tonight it's slower than usual and that's not good !

Delighted to hear that your MiL is getting a few trips out WN even if she is fretting about your  time away.  Think I might, I did say might, contemplate taking the 'van out for something other than a visit to supermarkets round Crewe undecided But it'll take a stick of dynamite to shake me out of my present lethargy I think.  Still I'll just pretend it's mid February and there's clear skies and crisp grass under foot  laughingcool.

Take care, plan well and be kind to the world  !!

Had a bit of a clear out today of the shed. Two mountain bikes, probably 20 years old. Obviously tyres and inner tubes shot and some rust. I am going to offer them to Cycle Saviours which is a charity that does up old bikes and either sells them or gives them away to somebody not in a position to buy a bike. They have been closed all through Lockdown and open again this week. If they don't want them I might offer them on a local Facebook Group for anyone willing to take them, otherwise they go to the dump!!!

A bit of a grey day today but dry. Sat waiting for a call from John Lewis to say they are 30 minutes away with our new washing machine. We have needed a new one for the last 3 months but until recently firms would only deliver / collect from the front door. The weight of a washing machine is just beyond my capabilities to manhandle, so we crossed our fingers and hoped it would last. Yesterday it was so noisy when spinning you really needed ear defenders. I went on the JL website and they are now delivering and collecting from indoors, (unless you live in certain Leicester post codes) so I ordered one on next day delivery. We haven't done bad with our washers, this is the fourth one in about 36 years. We've always had Hotpoint's but they seem to have kept prices down at the expense of quality. Therefore have gone for a Bosch, hopefully that will last as long. We are please with the dishwasher and tumble drier, which are also Bosch.

The 2 hour slot JL have given us, overlaps with our Tesco.com order. Hope the law of sod is not in operation and they turn up at the same time.😂

Hope someone takes them off your hands. Be aware that there is a second hand market for older bikes, depending on what they are, someone may take them on just for the frame. Charity is a good idea though.

Yorkshire is heaven for old bikes. They are usually painted yellow and adorn the towns and villages that feature every year on the cycle races. Some are used very creatively, some are used as floral art. All shapes and sizes.😁

    Steve

We have always been pleased with our Bosch Appliances. When we had the kitchen done earlier in the year we toyed with the idea of changing our Bosch washing machine as I think it's 11 years old now but it still seems to be running OK. Doesn't quite get the use it used to when the boys were home!!! Even your Hotpoint's must have given pretty good service? It is an unfortunate truth that UK made appliances tend not to be so well made as their German eqivielents but that has generally because the British market has, in the main, been price driven. Interestingly over the years the price gap does seem to have narrowed.

    Don't forget the transit packing!!!

We have noticed that when we have been in Yorkshire, it must have left the County with a shortage of bikessmile If all else fails perhaps I can paint mine yellow and hang them on the side of the house!!!

The bikes are, in a way, the first stage of decluttering. I have a perfectly good extending ladder in the garage which it is unlikely that I will use again. Even if I did it would be under much protest from Margaret!!! I also have a cement mixer in the garage just gathering dust. Can't really see me using it again but number one son did mention he wants to extend his patio so it might come in useful for that? That is also not to mention all the caravan/motorhome bits and pieces that litter not only the garage but the house as well. I was determined to make an effort this year to advertise them but then COVID got in the way!!!

There are some good bike charities/recycling in Yorkshire, but alternative festive uses have become popular because of all the bike racing. I have seen some wonderful craft uses as well for bike bits! There are competitions now allied to the TdeY for best village, best town, best land art......

We are mainly Bosch here too, other than AEG oven, cooker hood and tumble dryer.

We bought our son and DIL a Bosch washing machine when they got married in 1998, it is still going strong, despite 2 children.

Our washing machine does not get so much use these days, so hoping it will last a good time.  Since 1969 we are only on our 4th machine.

As it was raining yesterday my new Samsung washer got installed. Menfolk have been too busy silaging. The old one was manoeuvred out onto the porch step then taken away in the loader bucket, until we get to the tip. The new one is now in place, looking far too posh to wash dirty farm clothes. It seems to have features I’ll never use. I only want a normal general wash and a hotter one.

Perhaps it will play music Goldie?!

May the autowash go with you all, I've done so much washing today I'm surprised my machine puts up with it all. wink

Very blustery and overcast, but warm so good drying weather.

Trying to explain the ins and outs of Bristol Harbouside to some neighbours who have never been but are having a family meet up there this week. The cafes are opening up now and many have outside spaces so I think they'll enjoy it.

They were there normal efficient self. Asked if we wanted packaging removed. Did that in the van, then carried the machine in between them and carried old one out. Total time about 10 minutes. Tesco.com pulled up 5 mins after they left, so no queuing. I connected it up this afternoon and all working. Had to go and check it was still going as it's so quiet up to the old one. No tune when ours finished, just three very loud beeps, although they are disabled if you put it into night mode.

The hotpoints certainly owed us little, the first lasted about 13 years, the last two 11 years.

What was interesting is the difference in efficiency between the two. OH was throwing the old booklet out and it still had the coloured efficiency chart tucked inside. It was the top rating on it, an A and coloured green. On the new one A is four down and coloured  yellow and this one is rated A+++.

Busy day again here smile all sewing done for now and the MH is now packed up ready for the off tomorrow.

Really impressed with the storage in it, thought to start with we might have to scale back on what we take but I've put in most of the things we take on a long holiday barring some more clothes and there is plenty of space left over smile Bathroom could be a bit of a challenge on a CL but we will be fine.

Its OH's birthday today and his phone has been going non stop, his elder brother (who passed away a year ago) family have kind of adopted him as their stand in Dad/granddad. Its not been long since he passed, I think they are still missing having a father figure around.

Cloudy grey day but warm and dry smile

Had to pay a visit to Currys PC World as the TV has gone on the blink, same problem as we had with the previous one (Sony) this one has only lasted a little over 3 months. Sony have acknowledge that it is a known problem and offered us another replacement tv. We don't want another Sony and they are not offering a full refund. So a visit to the shop tonight to sort it out, Manager not in so details left for him to call us back.

We have a bike place that we have given a few bikes to over the years, they strip them and do them up and sell on or donate to those that can't afford to buy.

Tammy, if you paid by credit card then speak to the CC company and ask if you claim on a section 75 as getting only 3 months out of a new TV should be grounds for a full rebate. If they say it's most likely you could use that as a bargaining chip with Currys. Full refund and we'll buy a new TV from you or full refund from CC company and we buy elsewhere.

Hope you enjoy your new MH and it's first outing. We're off on Sunday, staying at a CL that Brue used last year in Cheshire. Having a week there and then home.

Had a fight with a Berberis today and lost. I feel like a mad Phlebotomist has attacked me. What's more it's only a quarter done. Things could get ugly. Acted as chauffeur this morning as MiL had to take coat back to Go Outdoors, then we had to call in at Garden Centre for another Cat scarer for the rear garden as the front one we bought a few weeks ago seems to be working.

Annoyingly had our gas boiler appointment cancelled by BG at the last minute but we are off to the dentist on Thursday. No mention of any additional money required but no promise of any invasive treatment yet.

Found out these that my cousin's funeral is tomorrow, up in Fife. We won't be going but her son has arranged for live streaming of the service, so will watch that and be there in spirit at least.

OH had a text from our doctor's asking her to arrange an appointment for a Shingles vaccination, so a quick phone call and that's all fixed up for next Wednesday. We may be able to get away after that's done.

It's no wonder high street shops are struggling. She's in Wrexham for the next 3 weeks closing down 3 of their shops, including a small one in a smart newish but nearly empty shopping mall, all of which are in rented properties, and opening a new one in an old BHS or Littlewoods store which they have purchased. The rent on the 3 properties for one year is greater than the price they paid for the building they are going into.
