Natural selection will always play a part B2. The ones who social distance, clean/antibac their hands, wear masks & disposable gloves will inevitably survive because they take all precautions. The chancers will always cut corners, the arrogant & selfish will ignore it all. As in everything-worry about you, let others choose their own way. The sad part is those that can’t make the choices like the elderly & infirm as we’ve seen in care homes. I have a friend who said to me-‘if we don’t get back to normal soon i’d rather be dead as I’ve got no life’, this person is immuno-compromised yet continues to work as a trucker. I have expected a phone call to say he’s in Hospital for weeks now🤷🏻♂️☹️.

Totally agree Rocky. If you or yours are in the vunerable category it is down to you to make your own risk assessments about every situation and take the best precautions you can.
Now I think it's about living with the virus - I fear it will be years before an effective vaccine and unless you don't want to join in activities,, such as days out or family visits it's a case of self management and responsibility.
I don't think you can blame any generation, each have their own flaws and selfish individuals. You only have to look around at those that drop litter, don't pick up after their dogs, speed etc. The easing of the lockdown of pubs will inevitably be grasped by the younger members of our society, but the high street it 's definitely all age groups....

Sounds like you'll be busy then, good luck with the "project."

TDA. I read your post last night about the dentist's charges. So I looked up ours on line and the latest updates (we are Denplan so are casting money to the wind just now.) It was an interesting read about not getting enough help and advice (familiar story) a lot of new equipment to prevent micro viruses in air the escaping etc. It was quite a funny description about recent events as he has a sense of humour but the punchline was it had cost an extra £10,000 to set up the safety equipment etc. They do NHS as well but are not asking for extra money from anyone. We can only go for emergency treatment.
Hope the house sale goes along well B2, sounds like a nice home for someone.

Very windy here today, glad I haven't got an awning up anywhere, over the years we've lost two at St Agnes...but I bet the coast looks lovely just now.

London or parts will go the same way as Leicester I’m betting, not only London but other major conurbations around the country. The Govt no doubt as we speak will be crunching numbers from councils & PH England to work out the next move. It may take the loss of Pubs to actually save lives. What a crazy decision-Pubs🤷🏻♂️human life. . .Geez that it’s come to this is just crazy☹️

I agree B2, personally I’m finding getting back to some sort of socially distanced normal very difficult, in fact frightening. We are visiting our family in a park for a picnic later this month, which will be the first time we’ve seen them all since March. I’m desperate to see the grandchildren and am fairly happy about the outside get together. Our son has suggested, if we would like it, that come to visit us for August Bank Holiday and stay with us a couple of days. They live in Hertfordshire so not local, any other time we would be thrilled of course, at present I’m unsure how comfortable I feel with the suggestion. However do we get comfortable again with our own family?!!

The "street" parties that make the news with some that will always be looking to cause trouble
are just one or two of the very many "quiet parties" that have been going on in many parts of the UK for weeks.that the scarce police turn a "blind eye" to,

Bakers, Rocky, couldn't agree more with your posts.
In our area of Scotland we have had little to no new infections for a couple of weeks now and very few deaths. Folk are getting very forgetful about distancing, wearing masks, cleaning hands etc. because local figures are good they forget that others from outside our area will now be coming into play/visit.
Given that we can now all move about freely there is bound to be an increase in cases. Then throw into the mix the pubs, restaurants and the leisure industry starting up again now is the time to be even more careful with personal hygiene and distancing.
Bakers our practice was like that last year but is now owned by this firm from England. Will be speaking to them during the week to see how things are, if NHS patients are not having an extra charge added to their costs then I don't see why others should have to or are we the ones having to cover the costs for ALL patients.
Nice sunny day so far, blue skies, windy and some clouds but dry though rain is in the forecast.
Getting little jobs finished for the off tomorrow, it will be the furthest we've been since 19th March.
Had a bit of an issue getting the fridge to work, tried all settings but nothing, then light bulb moment we had turned everything off at the end of last year. Re set all trip switches fridge worked

Must get on, got a bit of ironing to do and must take the hoover for a walk around the house

Hope you enjoy the trip TG. I'm looking forward to a break from home, if we feel unhappy about it on site we'll come home but I feel things will be ok...we're not heading for crowded beaches or pubs in central London. It is a strange feeling being able to go out but not as we knew it so will just have to test the water.
We caught our intruder last night, I heard the humane trap go in the early hours, a healthy field mouse who is now back in a field! Setting the trap once more tonight just in case he had a wife and family but we think he was a solo traveller courtesy of the cat. After that will clean out the cupboards he might have visited...

Brue, it’s Tammy with the teeth, I have the Rat😂
Aw, a lucky little field mouse. It’s wait and see here. All traps are baited, next door is on alert as well. Turns out new neighbour who used to be in Army is a bit of a specialist in terms of pest control. So he has been advising. We are covered for snakes, mosquitoes, scorpions, crocodiles and lions as well. All part of the service🤣 I did ask him about two legged nuisances, but sadly it’s not legal in this country.......😂😂

Windy night but no rain. Had a great walk from the little known Burnham Norton so apart from a couple of local dog walkers no one else around. Then onto a small unofficial car park South of Burnham Overy Staithe, walked along a footpath and as we approached the sea wall there were several groups of between 20 and 30 people walking towards the beach. An immediate U Turn and back to the van. Will try again as there are some Cattle Egrets with youngsters (bred at Holkham)
Called into the real ale shop n the Fakenham/Wells next Sea to replenish supplies. Unfortunately no draught available🍺🍺

Trip to the hairdresser this morning, I wasn't desperate, been trimming it myself and quite pleased with the results but took the opportunity as offered appointment. Nice to catch up on the gossip with hairdresser, but if anyone else has an appointment just a tip, I would dress for the height of summer! Plastic gown, plastic type towel around neck, hot breathing behind the mask, and then the blow drying! Cut hair fell down the front of mask, so itchy. So pleased to leave and breathe fresh air. Not the usual experience, but is anything these days. Spoke to a beekeeper on the way home, he was about to capture a very large swarm from a tree in his front garden. Said he gets his hives/bees from Buckfast Abbey as they are more docile. I'm a coward, I left him to it, but interesting.

Sounds nice OP. North Norfolk might very well be a choice for us later in year. We like the Burnhams area as well, all those lovely churches. And as you say, some very nice quiet walks.

Lovely sunny but very windy day on the north Cornish coast and, despite all the reports of traffic yesterday it still seems very quiet. Most of the big commercial sites aren't opening until tomorrow apparently, so it'll be interesting to see how that changes things.
Walked across the dunes to St Piran's cross this morning and then round the coastal path past Holwell Bay (fans of Poldark will recognise the scene) which must be the quietest it's ever been on a July Sunday!
Dogs are sleeping it off now - might be joining them shortly!

VERY windy here at Thornthorpe CS near Malton. Gusts probably not far off 50mph. Fortunately, the awning - which I hesitated about putting up yesterday, is OK since it’s on the lee side of the van . Just waiting for 7pm when the winds are forecast to subside. Despite all of that it’s so wonderful to have a different view from that at home!
Tammygirl - have a look at Thornthorpe - you won’t be disappointed. The owners are the loveliest of people and go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We have been coming here for 5 years now - ever since they opened. One of our visitors once said that their toilet block was better than in many of the hotels he had stayed in!
Long way for you, I suppose but you have the whole of North Yorkshire to explore.
A week here - three days at home and then off to High Breame CL at Flamborough. Just great to get out and do our little bit to help our friends get their businesses back on their feet😀

A quite windy but dry and warm day here,
One of our dog walking fraternity as with the rest of us are having "problems with litter left by groups of youngsters (and we do know as they are noted on our evening walks),so has done some posters and we have put them in strategic places on the entrances to all the local open areas wording is"If you bring food to eat in this area ,can you please put the packaging and bottles etc in the many litter bins available close by "

then in capital letters at the bottom
" if this is beyond your capabilities what sort of a s..t hole do you live in at home"

On a lighter note we are going to have a fly past by a spitfire leaving Duxford at 1620 then 1628 us, with thankyou NHS painted on its underwings, over Hospitals in Cambs ,Herts and Beds back at Duxford at 1700

DEBSC Thanks for the tips re the hairdresser, I have an appointment on Thursday. I am a bit apprehensive as it will be the first time I will have been that close to someone, except OH.

We collected the caravan from storage this morning, after a quick trip into town. I am now in the middle of airing, checking and cleaning. It was emptied and cleaned back in March but it has been in storage and been serviced since so taking a few extra precautions.
Really looking forward to a change of scenery, and well stocked up now with disinfectant, wipes and sanitizer, I also found some disinfectant spray in Aldi which I thought might be useful.
Moulesy have a lovely time in Cornwall hope it doesn't get too busy. Remember the lovely walks in the dunes and Holywell Bay from a few years ago.

We visited Easton Walled Garden today to see their sweet peas. Such a treat! It was very breezy but a lovely bright sunny day.

Talking of hairdressers I've got another 11 days before my appointment! Didnt want OH to go to Turkish barbers so rang my hairdresser to see if they could fit him in, expecting him to still have a long wait. He goes on Friday - how rude 😱. Mind you I'll be please to see him looking tidy!
Milliehull I've added those gardens to my list 😀 just need to be able to get out 🤣🤣. Did you have to book?

Been raining here on and off most of the day but I did manage to get the car washed and cleaned the inside out, got the awning out the shed and put it in the boot and put a couple of boxes of beer in the boot too ready for the off at the end of the week down to Yorkshire so looking forward to it now. SWMBO started packing the caravan and then we got visitors so that will need to finish that tomorrow. Talking about hair my brothers partner is due to come round and cut mine tonight should be easy enough just a 1 all over I’ve not had a hair cut since December and at the moment have quite a resemblance to the PM so will need that sorted before the off lol.
Photos look great Mille, enjoy Cornwall M and nice to hear from H&T hopefully you get away at the weekend too. Enjoy

No Bakers2 we didnt have to book. It is never over busy there so no problem with keeping our distance. The tea room wasnt open though so we took our own supplies which we had in the car. I think I might have gone overboard on buying sweet pea seeds 😁. I am sure DIL will like some for her birthday though.
We have a hair appointment on Tuesday. As she comes to us I might suggest she cuts our hair in the garden. I have been cutting it myself so she will have a bit of work to do 🤣.
Helen TG and Moulesy enjoy your trips away. Our next trip is not until September. Still a bit nervous about going anytime soon.
We had a few of our college course friends to ours for socially distanced coffee in our garden on Friday. As you say we have to assess the risks for ourselves if we want to see friends and family. We are being very cautious at the moment but do feel the need to see a few people and carefully go out.
I think I will have to investigate our dentist's charges. As we have been paying into Denplan with absolutely no treatment for months I would feel the need to have a few strong words if they charged a surcharge for PPE 😡

Lovely photos Millie, glad you enjoyed the visit. We are only heading to a CL near Ashbourne so not to far from home, we are self sufficient in the van and should only have 4 neighbours max.
Enjoy your holiday Francis, we have also started to fill the car boot with " essentials "

Thanks Millie, a place I didn't know about, it looks lovely. Hope you all enjoy growing the sweetpeas!
That was interesting about the hairdressers Debsc, I've had several goes at mine so I'm going to let the bad haircut grow out a bit before I book an appointment.
Best wishes for the next holiday trips, got to wait a bit longer for ours but starting to think about it.
(Had a good clear out of holiday leaflets and booklets last week, I tend to collect them!)1 -
B.2 ,thanks for that. The past few days I've been loading up the car & trailer with 'stuff' from the boatyard that i've been storing ,from various property moves.(this makes 24 in 43 years !! !! ) including 4 in Spain & one South of France !! !! and taking to the new location for storage. My aching bones are screaming ,,NO More No More !!
.But it's better in property i think ,than the pathetic thieving interest rates that banks are offering !!

Shall have to put Easton onto our list as well Millie. Looks a lovely place.
Just looking at news, see Spain has locked down another area. At least they are being careful.
Just a bit of gardening for me today, and a stroll with the pooch. It’s been very very windy here, can’t recall such strong winds in Summer months.Nice when sun was out, but dropped chilly now. I don’t think we will get out for day in MH this week, weather looking not so good, but might be ok for week after.

Haven't been on here that much over the last few days as I've been caught up in a book during my spare time and only popped in every so often. Mrs WN can read one in one sitting and quickly as well. She doesn't notice anything else and wouldn't know if the house caught fire unless the book started to burn. Mind you I've had some wonderful conversations with her during those times and she has always agreed with me.😂
A 3 hour walk this morning on a breezy but dry day. Cyclists were particularly "nowty" today for some reason. Big release day for us tomorrow. Yahoo. Probably won't go anywhere!🤔
Hope those away enjoying their new hobby.

Looks a fine place, millie, thanks for mentioning it. Guess it will be a while before we're down that way again.
Guess that the back ache has eased thankfully, tda.
Enjoy your days of release, WN, you never know when they might be stopped again.
We've had high winds for much of the day but at least have managed to get 3 walks in without getting wet. This "damp" weather has meant there's been no need to water the garden, and has also resulted in a fine crop of wild mushrooms too. Have just had a very heavy shower of rain and the lowerng sky is making it look more like April than July.

OH did some digging for me today Nellie, so my back survived. It wasn’t much, just planting a sapling in beech hedge, to replace one not doing as well.
Sadly Easton doesn’t allow dogs, but they do say it’s because they have had problems. Might be a quick sprint round on a cooler day when pooch has had a walk. Looks very nice.

Well, the work never stops does it ??
.Sport to watch or listen to while trying to get stuck into the new Register of Traction Engines and bring MY list up to date when aged Sister called with amazing news. Having forgotten that I'm asking every fortnight for the ages & birthdays etc of all the delightful children in the family she staggered me by remembering that I had mentioned I've got a tiny leak of fresh water on the input to the toilet tank. and, not only that, she had told her youngest son that It is to be fixed by lunchtime tomorrow 'cos he fitted it so he can cure it !!
Not only that, but she recalled that he had fitted it nigh on 20 years ago and he should have done a better and proper job. Poor lad has been left speechless 'cos he is " Furloughed " and of course should not be doing foreigners as such, so he will, of course, be relying on his aged uncles open-handed generosity.
That being the case, I'd better get a few zzzz's in so I'm in a better mood at 07:30 !! So Good Night , Sleep tight ( and I Don't mean inebriated thank you !!
