'Breaking News'
We've done it.

What I hear you ask.
Only gone and bought a PVC

Hadn't planned to do it for at least another year or 2 but hey ho its only money (ISA's have taken the hit)
Its the one we have been looking for and it came up at our local dealers. Not new, 4 years old but only has 8k on the clock, very clean inside and out so well looked after. Collected it this morning. Its an Autotrail 635 V Line.
Grey day and mizzle but who cares

This site is sooooooooo slow. Still nice bright blue large cursor so that's an improvement.
Painter cracking on with the outside, despite heavy showers this afternoon, they dried very quickly. He was able to rub down the front door and side window in the porch so timing was all.
Puppy had her first visit to the groomer today. Wash and blow dry, smelt like a baby when I picked her up. She enjoyed it and fell asleep during the drying! Fluffiness didn't last over long as a sharp shower on our evening walk, but a sweet wet dog smell - as if she'd smell 😇.
Love the new avatar brue.
Good to read of others news. I'm enjoying reading but rather tired - puppies are harder work than I remember 🤣🤣. She's grown plenty and can now jump onto the sofas or garden chairs and looks like she's the queen. Then turns, can't find a reason/cause, into a biting machine, just like you've fed her a bunch of e numbers! We're trying time out now 😱. She acts like an angel in puppy class, and loves learning. Decided she doesn't like our road to walk - difficult as to get anywhere it involves going up or down our road! We are the street entertainment as she sits and I play Hansel and Gretel in reverse, I throw the treat forward 😱. Once we've decided to cooperate she's fine. She had a right turn about traffic last week, which has really increased, whining etc so we've spent the last couple of early walks sitting in the pedestrian bridge whilst the traffic builds and she has nice things to chew. Can you be arrested for it?? Definitely curing it she walks nicely beside the road now, but noisy motorbikes make us both jump 🤣.
Right time to tidy up the dog toys and water the pots before retiring. It's nice to retire whilst it's still light reminds me of childhood. Plenty to keep me entertained sorting mums too!

So TG how are you going to decide between the two? Or will it be caravan/motorhome - motorhome/caravan has Tommy Cooper was heard to say

We liked the V Line but I just felt using the bunks as singles was not really going to suit me as they are a bit narrow for my, what should we say, my proportions!!!

I was wondering about the surprise too.. have fun TG, I wouldn't mind a PVC again, now we have such a tiny dog we would all fit in easily!
Puppy tales/tails B2 they do turn into terrible teenagers, ours is eleven months now and still a whirlwind! She had to re-learn confidence in road walking as it was so quiet in the first bit of lockdown, then the traffic re-appeared. We do a stop and look and an "it's ok chat," things have improved.
New avatar! Yes, except it's my original one, it has made a comeback.

Failed to get a CL booking in place of a site booking July...will try again in September.
TDA. Don't worry about the Americans, if they can get a rocket to the moon there are some brains out there somewhere!

Congrats TG. My advice........keep both😁
Brains.......America...........🤔 There are some very clever Americans indeed. But Trump keeps firing them.....😂
1 -
TDA, We are intending to keep both for the time being
each has its uses. DK, beds fine for us, only slightly narrower than the caravan and can always be used across the van which would make a massive bed.
WN my days of babies is long gone thankfully

Bakers, its not a big van Autotrail 635 V Line only 6.36m so should be fine for parking it most places in the UK.
Really looking forward to having days out in it over the summer months + we have a few 2 nighter's planned. Might get to the islands at some stage.

Tammygirl sounds fabulous. Now more jealous 😱. If you spot anything similar - I've got my eye on the Warwick but open to others. Too much going on here to look about let alone travel 😢
Brue I thought you avatar looked familiar but couldn't be sure. This site does amazing things 🤣. I saw it had some more maintenance overnight. Sorry you didn't get the CL hopefully you will find one.
Had a lie in until almost 7am, dog still didn't want out! That was nice but now I'm only just breakfasting and feel all over behind, which I am by nearly 2 hours 🤣. Just can't win!
I have to go into town this morning, hopefully it'll be good, wanted to be early - see above 😉. Wilko on the edge of precinct and open air market.
Milliehull delighted to read about the cathedral and that you enjoyed your time there must be fabulous to do something almost as it was pre-lockdown!
Enjoy your day folks

It’s still showing me your old avatar brue. Took weeks for mine to alter though.
TG, we did some fantastic 3-4 night tours away when we first got our MH. Find it brilliant for touring round, and visiting places of interest. We travel very light most trips, so it’s a 10 minute set up, 10 minute pack up.
I hope all those heading off tomorrow have got a woolly jumper and a brolly packed. It’s chilly and damp here today. And windy.

Brue's avatar has changed on this MacBook but I haven't cleared my cache on the android so still getting the older version. She seems just as nice on both though.

At least Tammy, you've had some experience of the Darker Side.
A wet morning here. Just had to go to town to collect some items that were left off the prescription. Too, too many people about for my liking. However, I had my best evil glare on my face so everyone avoided me. Didn't help with Mrs WN laughing at it though. They probably thought we'd been at the hand gel.
1 -
TG, unless I'm mistaken haven't you only fairly recently left "the dark side"? I suppose having both fulfils Boris's exhortation to "spend, spend, spend"

Brue & TtDA,
I recall the comment about why the USA got men to the moon before the Russians did was because the German Scientists that America got were better than the German Scientists that the Russians got.
Sadly WE only got a few old half retired office workers !

After a nice day yesterday, back to cold, wet and miserable today. I don't think we have ever had to turn on heating in July before! We had it on for a few hours on Wednesday, and just turned it on now today. Quite a change from all the warm, sunny weather we have had in the previous few months.
Yesterday we took stuff to DD and spent an hour or so in theIr garden, just as well we did not wait till today.
OH has just been telling me that it is time we spent some money.......not however on anything as interesting as a new MH or caravan.......just 3 new bathrooms! One of the big drawbacks of starting with everything new at the same time is that it all needs to be replaced at the same time.
Normally I do most stuff around the house myself, but a whole bathroom is probably a bit more than I feel confident to tackle, never mind 3 of them!
In 2 of them we would want the baths removed and large walk in showers installed instead, new toilet and basin, new heated towel rails, and all new tiling, some of this I could tackle once all the old stuff was removed and the walls prepared. The floors I would do myself.
In the third one we would keep a bath, one of the ones designed for having a shower over.Wall requirements in bathrooms are very different from that required 32 years back.....special plasterboard, waterproofing of joints etc.......so I think most of the walls would need to be replaced. In fact the tiles are so well attached (by me) that I am pretty sure the damage to the plasterboard walls to remove them would mean all the boards would need to be replaced anyway.
It is all rather daunting, so we will have to measure up and give it a lot of thought before making any decisions.

Little doubt here, KjellNN, that You & Yours will measure up AOK !! No doubt, either, that it would be darned hard work for you, and really much more fun doing the " Supervisory Duties " and checking on the latest materials / methods used

WN & CY, what's all this about the 'Dark Side'
Yes you are right its 2 years since we sold the the Bailey sieve, Oops I mean MH. We still love the caravan and have full intentions of using it as often as we can, in fact we are going away in it on Monday for 3 nights and to France in September.
Shine taken off the MH this morning, we had booked a mobile fitter to come and fit a tow bar to it 2 weeks ago. Should have been with us at 09.00 at 09.30 we gave him a call to see if he was having trouble finding us. No, he was on his way to Edinburgh to do another job.
Wasn't sure if he would make it to us and wasn't sure if he had the right wiring for the MH. That's not all, he didn't have the means to work outdoors if its raining, living in Scotland I find that unbelievable. Oh and could we take photos of 'things' in the van as he wasn't familiar with it.
Guess he won't be coming back. We are in the process of re arranging fitting. Not easy as many of the fitting centres are very busy. Rained on and off most of the day here, typical its nice now.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

OH decided we were going to have a day out today, to my suprise she said we will go in the MH,'where' I said, how about Trago Mills Newton Abbot came the reply.
So that's were we went, a journey of about 80 miles. I emptied the MH of most of the camping gear and charged the loo ready for use, started up the fridge on 12v for some water and milk in case we wanted to stop for a cuppa at some point. Bramble jumped into his spot to put his seat-belt on without being told. The journey went well, although it was a bit gusty. there were plenty of parking spots on arrival and after walking Bramble we found the outside food kiosks open so bought some pasties (finally) and had a cuppa, we didn't go around to the animal park this time though. bramble returned to the MH with some water and skylights open, we went into the main shop, arrows and no entry signs with sanitation stations in evident, everyone seemed to be practicing distancing etc so we felt comfortable wondering around. It is a large warehouse kind of shop that sells everything, oh bought some jewelry, curtains and books. i bought a blind for the front upper window on the MH and a container to keep charcol in for the new barbie.
The journey home was as quiet as the journey out. Before leaving we topped up with cheap petrol from the onsite garage (Shell) on the way out, a quick calculation showed 18mpg, which is average for my MH, good considering most of the journey was against the wind.
The wind was gusting more on the way home and it started raining, at one point a heavy gust pushed the van to one side
, which must have concerned the cars and lorry behind me, as we reached a dual carriageway I sat at 45mph expecting everyone to overtake, but they stayed happily on my tail. All in all a good day out and the MH got a nice long run, anyone travelling tonight or in the morning, watch those winds!
I hope your day went well

Ha Ha, I think they got some Russian scientists too, we got ballet dancers!

Good luck with your new abode Pete, sounds like you'll be busy!
KJ, one thing at a time!
During lock down our kitchen needed painting and our bathroom needed replacing....neither have been done but the garden looks good!

OH had a long chat with DD today on how she was feeling about Callum going back to nursery when Daddy has to go to school on 11/08.
The outcome was that she does not want us to go away in August/September as it will be a big change time for Callum, so she would like us to be here to look after hIm, which is fine with us.
Apparently she does not trust the In-laws to behave or keep to the rules as they have not been doing so so far. Seems SIL has fallen out with them multiple times as they are not complying with the rules!
They will only be allowed to look after him if they agree to bring him directly to his home from nursery and stay there. No shopping, no park, no soft play, no meals out, no going to their house!
It seems we however are totally trustworthy! We are happy to do what she wants, we just love to be with Callum.
She will of course be working from home so can check up on all of us.So we have cancelled our August/September trip up north meantime.
She is happy for us to go away September/October.0 -
Had a call from my neighbour today, Now her hubby as gone she has had somebody take the fish, pump and filter from her garden pond, emptied it, refilled it and replanted. She phoned to say that she had a lot of little tadpoles in the garden pond. I said that if there were a lot they could not be frog tadpoles as she would have seen a mass of eggs. I could just about believe that might get an odd one survive on a plant brought in. I said that I could also just about believe a few newt eggs stuck on some submerged oxygenating plants as knowing where she bought them there are often newts in the plant troughs. She was relieved when I went round and told her that they were gnat larva or similar

Reminded me of many years ago when her hubby had said that he had an infestation of baby wasps under his cover over. I laughed and said no such thing as a baby wasp it would be a larva and then hatch to a wasp. I went round and there were a lot of hover flies.

Horrible day here today, with only one period of dry weather all day, but it was when we were out by the beach, although the wind was nearly strong enough to blow us over. Son and DIL drove up again today to see us and to give Mollie another walk along the tideline, so it was chips again for lunch, sat in our respective cars. My other 3 walks out with Flyte have all been in the rain, and the prospect doesn't look any better for our final walk either.

OH has finally had contact from our dentist and she has an appointment for midday Monday. Following that we may know a bit more about when we can get away, but we're in no mad rush to do so yet.

And the same here too. Rain intermingled with drizzle, and a strong gusty wind. Thing is it's been like this since Wednesday and won't get better till Monday or Tuesday

Us neither Nellie. Forecast isn’t good this coming weekend, wet and windy.
I have had sciatica last few days, so have been taking things steady. Only standing up straight gardening allowed. And, horror of horrors, saw a rat today. War has been declared.........😡 Plan A, the poison is in situ. Plan B, need to check if BIL still has a gun! At times like this, Labrador’s are useless, give me a nice wicked little terrier.......🤔🐀😈

Have you called him Basil? It could have a Siberian Hamster?
