Bit of a disaster tonight!
OH was loading the dishwasher and dropped a wine glass on the floor as she had managed to get olive oil on her fingers. Glass broke and the shards went everywhere, and then, while moving away to call me for help, she managed to stand on a small bit of glass.
When I went through to the kitchen, there was blood everywhere, which she had not realised as the cork floor tiles have red bits (just like blood) running through them. A shard of glass was sticking into her foot.
Pulled the shard out carefully and put a wad of paper towels under her foot and had her press down on them, blood did not take too long to clot. Meantime I swept up all the glass bits, then vacuumed the floor, though no doubt we will be finding tiny bits for days now.
Then made a thick pad of gauze and taped it firmly to her foot. Should be fine now, she is a quick healer. She has no pain in the foot now, so seems it was only the one piece of glass she had in her foot.
Excitement over for this evening!!

Oh well if things are in threes I burnt my finger getting another lockdown banana loaf out of the oven yesterday!

Hope the others feel better soon. Wine glass shards are nasty things.
And TDA hope the sciatica eases.
Not a lot to do today. Weather stops play. Hoping my sister and BIL will visit next week.

Nope, definitely a rat. I did have a hamster called Basil. He was my office pet at work, he lived in a huge glass fish tank. He was rescued. I did a Risk Assessment for him. Staff used to call in to say hello😂 He was one spoilt hamster.
Back is easing a bit, thankfully. No idea what set it off. Might test it out with a bike ride later.
Hope Mrs K is ok K! Nasty accident. And your burn brue. (Sounds like a bit of a stutter, but you both have my best wishes)

Some folks are a tad naive about the animal world. We once had to explain to a visiting builder what those huge strange birds were at the bottom of our garden. He had never seen a live chicken before🤪

Checked out the damaged foot this morning, no pain and no bleeding overnight, so all looks good, other than for the wine glass!
Not one of our best ones fortunately, so no great loss.
Sunny here at 7am, but now wet and misty, will be another day of tidying in my room I expect.

That must have been quite some obedience classes he went to, to put his own seat belt on.

Woo Hoo! Back down in Cornwall for the first time since you-know-who said you-know-what!

Left slightly earlier than normal expecting heavy traffic but, in fact, it wasn't much busier than most normal morning runs. Lots of units parked up in lay bys all the way down the A30, some clearly overnighting and waiting for their appointed arrival slots.
Good to be back here but unfortunately we appear to have brought some wet weather with us - neighbour's are not going to be pleased to see us!

A very grey day here, although not currently wet. Except for the temperature one could be fooled into thinking we are heading into autumn. A BBQ is out, so resorted to autumnal food and put a couple of lamb shanks in the slow cooker in a wine and port sauce.😋 At least I've the GP qualifying to watch this afternoon.
Just this minute received a text supposedly from O2. It hasn't been possible to collect your payment, please use this link to update details. As our bill is coincidentally due in a couple of days, you can see folk being fooled by this sort of thing. Me I just ignore them, if one happens to be genuine, they will just have to resort to good old snail mail with account number data etc to satisfy me.

It's been a rather mixed couple of weeks, some highs and some lows, think we are getting through it now. I have managed to meet up with a few friends that I've not seen since before lockdown.
Been nice to catch up with everyone's news, good to hear people are starting to get out and about. We had a trip out last weekend to the NT Sherborne Estate, it was very quiet, weather was dry but windy so may have kept a few people away.
OH has been making a wooden gate for our youngest son, just not sure how or when we will get it to them.

Today we should have been setting off on our summer holiday to North Wales, have provisionally re booked it for next year. Oh well I have got an appointment at the hairdresser instead next week.
All being well we have booked a few days away next weekend, just to see how things are. Caravan was serviced a couple of weeks ago, all ok, so we are good to go, just got to put everything back in the van if I can remember where I put everything!

A friend dropped of lots of rhubarb so this morning have made a Rhubarb and Ginger cake, the rest will be frozen. Taking a break and then will head out with the dog for a walk, just hoping it stays dry.
Enjoy the weekend everyone, home or away, & Stay Safe.

Yes, if only they'd take out what they bring in, just discovered we have a mouse behind our kitchen units...I have been telling OH we have a possible visitor, shredded kitchen roll proved it this morning.
(There is a gap behind our units so this will be fun but we have a humane trap or two that will now be deployed. 🐭)Good luck with your intruder TDA.
Helen, sorry your holiday in Wales was cancelled but hope the new plans work out well.

Like many people we are missing going to live gigs. We’ve watched some live on Facebook, and some streamed ones later ( when they clashed). I’ve also bought more CD’s than usual as a way of supporting musicians, and donated to charities that artists are supporting.
Tonight it’s our first Zoom gig - Chris Difford (lyricist and founder member of Squeeze). I’ve made a donation and got the emailed link. Just need to move the settee into place in front of the desktop computer. At least the drinks will be cheaper than at a venue.

I would normally use humane trap and let mice go, but this rat is mean. It was catching our frogs yesterday. Obviously hungry, poor thing. But it’s got to go......

Sitting here at Thornthorpe CS, near Malton. My favourite site in this country! In an old orchard - 2 acres - with a stream running through it. Absolute peace and tranquility. How lovely it is to be away again and have a change of scenery. Weather is rubbish and looks like getting worse tomorrow - but who cares😎
What is sad is that the owner tells us that loads of people who had booked have cancelled just because they’ve closed the toilet block - what whimps At the moment - just us and a Motorhome here - so perfect social distancing.
Feel sorry for the owners - I think they were expecting some semblance of normality but it doesn’t seem as if that’s going to happen.
We really need to support our CLs and CS’s - otherwise we may loose them.

Not too much traffic on our way to North Norfolk so arrived at predicted time. Few other vanners on the road. A couple of showers but nothing to spoil our enjoyment. Been to Cley and Stifkey and plenty of wild life about. Pubs looked fairly busy but folk seem to be observing distancing but no desire on my part to join them so raising a glass to you all from the comfort of our van. Have a good weekend all

Oneputt and R&R hope you both enjoy your breaks away, we will be supporting the CL network next weekend.
Goldie hope you enjoy your Zoom gig, at least you won't have far to get home afterwards, no driving

The rain held off so we had a nice walk with the dog this afternoon, on the way home we walked past the pub on our estate, didn't look very busy. They have a fairly large garden but no one was "braving " it outside. Still quite a few caravans sat on driveways on the estate so not everyone away yet.
Brue & Ttda good luck catching your intruders.

Surprisingly we have not had a bad day weather wise. We did get a bit of rain when we were out this morning but as we were in the car no issue. The forecast was for heavy and persistent rain most of the day. This afternoon we even had sunshine for a couple of hours.
Been sorting out the caravan for our trip away on Monday. Also went and played with the MH for a while. Couldn't get the tv antennae to pick up a signal, so took it for a drive to the top of the village, as we suspected it was where the van was sat the signal gets blocked. Starting to put things in the van that will stay there, not going to be moving everything from one to the other, though some items will have to.
Got a letter this morning from my Dental practice, seems they are going to charge patients an extra fee for the additional PPE they have had to buy due to Covid. All depends on what treatment you have as to how much extra you will be charged. Any treatment like fillings, crowns and ultra-sonic scaling will be charged more as the PPE required costs more, inspections and hand scaling will be at a lower cost as only normal PPE will be required. I'm on Denplan so being charged not sure about NHS patients though. Has anyone else been told they are to pay more due to the PPE?
richarandros your CS sounds lovely will have to look it up.
moulsey, enjoy your trip to Cornwall
TTDA hope the back eases up soon
brue no mice or rats here just lots of bird feathers all over the grass, guess one of the cats got a blackie

Tammygirl I've been to the dentist since the easing of restrictions, routine check up but I do have sensitive tooth and have done throughout 😱, cracks in the tooth, crown required, another routine check up September but can have done before if needed. No extra charge for PPE, I'm Denplan too. I get to have a check up every 3 months 😀🤐
Read on fb local group someone saying their dentist want £40 for PPE was this right? Various replies saying ask for breakdown of cost but no one said it was wrong, so far 😉.
Our dentist has been doing emergencies throughout, but my aunt - another Denplan dental practice told to call 111 NHS if she had issues. I wonder if it is practice dependant?
My brother has had 3 teeth out over the last week - NHS and he made no mention of PPE charge and he would mention it - loudly!

Mums house went on the market yesterday, 2 viewings today 2 on Monday 😱. Still lots of sorting to do. Looks very good in the photos! It's a lovely Victorian cottage with 3 big bedrooms and great open views. But needs serious work, but liveable in whilst you do.
So busy week getting it ready and then approving brochure details, all seemed rather rushed but sorted in the end. Estate agents very busy they said and prices holding up - time will tell............
The headstone is back on the mum and dad's grave, looks very nice and we judged making the floral cross of geraniums very well 😀😇. Only taken about 4 weeks in total, including getting church's permission for the additional wording for mum. So feel they're tidy now. There was a wooden cross for mum, put there on the day she was buried, dad had one too when he was buried 18 years ago, no idea where that is now. (Theres every chance we will find it somewhere at mum's 😉) So he wasn't acknowledged for 6 months. Whether we find his or not we have the dilemma of what to do with them..........
Feeling extremely tired, plenty going on and I expect emotions playing a big part too even if I'm not overly aware of them and our lovely current situation doesn't help 😉. Still onwards and upwards.
Those lucky enough to be availing themselves of a change of scenery, have a great time, and likewise those of us doing the same old same old 🤣. Stay safe.

Hope that the sale goes through quickly, B2, and you can finally get some well earned rest. I'm sure it has been a harrowing time for you over the last couple of years. Take care of yourselves and stay safe.

TG, my OH has an appointment with our dentist on Monday, but there was no mention of a charge for PPE, when the receptionist made the appointment, and we too are on Denplan, so perhaps it is practice dependent.

Hope everyone's injuries, aches and pains are soon cleared up. To all that have brave it, enjoy your trips away and stay safe.
Tda, Wherenext is the one to go to for the latest info on getting rid of rats,as he's had a similar experience to yourself lately and has lived to tell the tale.
Yet another wet and miserable day here, with steady drizzle all day long. Just glad that we're not away in the van at the moment. I do feel a bit sorry for those that had booked to go to the C&CC's Keswick site today as they've been stopped from going because the site is flooded again. Not a great surprise seeing the amount of rain that's fallen over the Lakes this last week.

Thanks Bakers & Nellie, I think its the practice rather than Denplan that is making this charge, bit of a cheek IMO given that they have had their money for the last 3 months but not seen any patients at all even Denplan ones.
The charge for invasive treatment starts on the 1st August and non invasive the end of September no details yet as to how much. Non invasive treatments will have no more PPE than usual so don't see why there should be a charge. Invasive, yes a higher level will be required. Wonder if they will charge NHS patients, OH is NHS so should find out soon enough, can't see that going down well.
The practice was taken over last year by a company called 'Portman dental care in Cheltnham.
Think it might just be time to change Dental practice and drop Denplan

Bakers, I get 2 check ups and 2 hygienist appointments per year, all fillings (don't need any) x rays, crowns are covered but not the Technician fee. Cost me around £265 per year.

Tammygirl our practice is self owned, he's rather a workaholic in lots of ways but very lovely chap! Been with him for over 30 years. NHS then moved to Denplan when he no longer did NHS adults, OH very feared of dentists but not this one, he saw the children NHS until the end of uni. He always has at least one NHS dentist and his nurses have been there as long as us. He's very highly thought of.
KjNelln hope your wife is healing well, nasty stuff broken glass! Sorry I omitted to comment before.
Similar apologies to others I've omitted too. Brain overload

Tricky good to hear from you, sorry IoW fell through but glad you've got something now.
HelenandTrevor nice to hear from you, I expect you've been flat out at work and not really noticed any 'idle' time? I feel sorry for the key workers, and grateful too, others have been furloughed and had time to play whilst key workers have still had to earn their keep with added pressures and stress from the uncertainty. I'd like to thank you and your company for keeping supplies coming through. Likewise to Goldie and others who've kept us fed watered and as safe as we can be.
Not looked at any news re easing, it would just make me want to scream! We walked past a pub on the common yesterday, lots of folk, some being sensible others from from it........... A visit to our high street was sufficient to put me off. KEEP LEFT signs everywhere, but not adhered to by so many. Whilst I'm scared for the herd immunity approach I'm wondering if natural selection would play apart but I fear not, they'd probably be the ones to survive 😱

Mostly youngsters who, in this group, are sadly very selfish and self centered. If infected they may only get the virus mildly, but what of their parents, grandparents and other at risk people they may come into contact with. I think my own 6 grandchildren and many other youngsters are thoughtful caring people. But then you see Bournemouth beaches, marches, raves and this photo and it makes me despair about the thoughtlessnes of some people. Have they already forgotten about those so tired NHS workers trying to keep people alive.
