We have been trying lots of new recipes these last few weeks, things that take a bit more time. I will be ice cream making tonight hopefully.

Dry here, chilly this morning, so I got well wrapped up for my bike ride. I did a Corners, off to explore local roads and places I haven’t seen before. (Nothing like his distance or places of interest though). I had fun scoping out gardens. Some are very nice, some are very interesting, most were too bland for my taste, and sadly, a huge number are nothing more than a car park, devoid of anything living. And, a small minority I would not want to live next door😱 Takes all sorts😂

I have been polishing as well, found an old tin of Brasso buried deep. My Sis bought me some lovely French vintage kitchen containers last year, gave them a good fettling, look nice now. High as a kite on fumes though.....🤪😂

The Mcdonald's drive thru in Weymouth opened Wednesday, the queue's were that long it blocked the main roads through the town, apparently it was at least a 2 hours wait, why are people so desperate for such tripe?

Still no rain, but there is a definite chill in the air, a shame really as my new portable bbq has just arrived! (another toy for when we get away in the MH).

Took Bramble for a walk this morning as he hadn't been out, apart from the gardens, for a couple of days, he must have enjoyed the walk because when we got back he got his favourite old shoe of mine and pulled out...………

Spent the day wiring in and sorting out the Ring video doorbell I was bought for Christmas. I was waiting for better weather and sort of forgot about it. Wiring it in was the easy part. Linking it to the App somewhat more difficult and getting it to communicate with the Alexa video gismo we have, fraught. All up and running now though and works very well. Just have to ask Alexa to show me the front door and you get a picture on the little screen. Just got to sort out the sensitivity of the movement sensor. If I turn it on, it alarms for stray cats.😂 It will also be useful when we can eventually get away in the MH, as it shows all of the front garden and the cars on the drive.

Grey here and chilly first thing. Brightened a bit late morning, so managed a cuppa with friend and her daughter in the garden who bought some lovely fresh rolls - great for lunch 😀. Puppy enjoyed a good play only managed half her lunch and slept most of the afternoon.

Did some washing and gardening this morning. But sort of joined the puppy, me on the sofa her on the floor in the conservatory, snoozing as I didn't feel great. Each time I lost myself the phone, new lenses on their way and the doorbell OH shirts arrival I assume not checked contents but says M&S on packaging 😉 so not quite as restful as it could have been. But feel better for chilling and much cosier!

Some damp stuff falling so went out and made sure everything away in the garden before resuming the position with a cuppa and CT. What arrived was very mizzly and seems to have stopped already! Hopefully we can have a reasonable amount and freshen things up before it clears off to make way for the sun to return.

Will have to pull yet another meal together - I'm another who longs not have to cook but won't be venturing out anytime soon! Hadn't thought of fish and chips I'll investigate our nice local shop. Did try a takeaway after a neighbour praised them, disappointed so I guess I'll stick with cooking. At least we have the ingredients now, but like Wherenext I'd love to eat an impulse choice made from what I'd seen. Ho hum if that's the worst of woes I'm a lucky bunny.

    Rajohno.......I laughed!! 😂😂

Just a working day here. Had to complete a survey about working from home via email. 🤗 I like it. No need to comment further.

Reference fish & chips....our local to us chip shop is not very nice and I wouldn’t queue for it. There is a much nicer chippy about 10 miles away that has just reopened with collection pick up times. I’m tempted but not until the excitement has subsided.

Not so warm today and rather dull this morning but it was dry. Did the shopping as usual then delivered it. Met up with SIL in town to collect some items she wanted us to take to the care home for MIL.  It would be 2 bus rides for her as she doesn't drive.

Back home by 10.30 a nice cuppa after putting our shopping away.

OH then went outside to do some work while I tackled indoors.

This afternoon we got some of the wet stuff on and off.

Our local chip shop we don't like, much prefer one in town 7 miles away, they are not open just now. When coming home the other day from our afternoon cycle into town we passed the Kebab house smile it was open, couldn't resist it so popped in and bought 2 of them. Found a nice place to sit and eat them, they were delicious.

Rajohno glad you/dog found the keys.

Nice to read your posts. Fingers crossed I'm feeling a lot better this evening and have got my sense of taste and smell back, I went into the greenhouse and could smell the tomato plants, it was lovely!

The keys, that was a good discovery! Someone once said to me nothing gets lost in a house, probably right even if you can't find what you've lost.

Meals. It's like a version of "ready, steady, cook" here thanks to the random veg, salad and fruit arriving each week from the farm shop and my orders from Waitrose that never seem to go exactly as expected. Our local pub has been doing take away meals for several weeks, still haven't tried one, but at least it's there. Miss walking down for their lunches, nice menu...🥧🧀🌮

Good to read that brue. Fingers crossed. It's the loss of taste and smell that worries.

Felt engeryless yesterday afternoon myself dozed on sofa in conservatory and bed soon after 9pm. Slept well and sore throat much less. Mentioned it, in text, to daughter in NZ she joked about COVID easy when your country has had no new cases for 12 days!

Had some of the wet stuff overnight, 1st waterbutt in the chain half full, ground looks fresher, sun trying to come out. Pup's early morning garden visit and my sit out there dry, my have to introduce a new routine 😱. Few spots since we've come in but sun peeking out now. Cooler but not cold, so no excuse about ironing or vacuuming 🤔

    Stay safe

Edit more maintenance off about 9pm back at 0530  wonder if we'll notice? And I was delighted to see the banner scrolling over the pages giving advance notice 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I settled down last night to have a catch up on here ........ essential maintenance yell

So glad that you are beginning to feel better brue. Take it easy.

I had to laugh about the key Rojohno laughing. At least you have a spare set.  As long as you remember what you have done with them.undecided

We went OUT yesterday. OH needed to get his glasses repaired so rang Specsavers and they made an appointment for him yesterday afternoon. I decided that he couldn't have all the fun and went with him.  We parked the car just outside town so that we could have a good walk in.  Specsavers were very well prepared. We were met at the door by a young man fully equiped with mask, apron and gloves (we also hand our masks on) and we had to use the hand sanitiser before we could go in. We were the only customers in the store.  As we started our walk back to the car the long awaited rain arrived and we got soaked yell. It rained overnight and is still raining.  The garden looks better already and the water butts are filling nicely. Millie's rose arrived yesterday so we can hopefully get that planted after a few more day's of rain. Oh well no excuse now for not doing the pile of ironing that has been staring me in the face for a while now.

Thanks Millie, I was just looking in last night, posted and the site went off.

Hope the rose grows well for Millie, we planted one for our little terrier last year, we found one with her name and I'm pleased to say it's doing well.

Hope B2 is feeling more energised, although I think the responsibilities of a new pet can be hard work however lovely they are!

I am being cautious about going out just in case I've got the virus but hopefully will plan some visits out soon. I've noticed more NT places are opening up for bookings and some of the other gardens. Hoping to take a picnic down to Abbotsbury Sub Tropical gardens as the dog can go too. Booking in advance for that and the entry prices are reduced. Simple pleasures just now!

Like many people the site crashed just as I was trying to post a goodwill message to Brue at 10.00 last night. Still, glad to see she's up and about.

Had a walk in squally April weather, cold as well. A first for 10 weeks today was some rubbish from McDonalds strewn in a lane. Some things I haven't missed.yell

I think the Swannery at Abbotsbury is planning to open tomorrow (6th June) as well not sure if the pooch would be welcome though!

I don't think tomorrow would be a good time to visit considering the summer storm heading down the country.

    hope you get better soon

We had rain yesterday, some heavy, but mainly not too bad.  Managed between showers to take stuff to the bins, my tidying had found lots of empty boxes from various computer bits, so they are now all flattened and in the recycling for collection in a few days.  As are a big pile of old CAMC and NT magazines.

Today is sunny again so I have done some more hedge trimming, but my petrol trimmer is starting to misbehave again.  At least we now have plenty of space in the garden bins.

FaceTime with DD and Callum this morning, they were potting up peppers, cucumbers and courgettes.  She has too many cucumbers so will give us a couple to grow in our sun room next time we see them.

Rumbling thunder around but no decent rain. Mind you we don't want it just at the mo! Getting harder as I type and check this over 😱

I asked OH to dig out the hinges he reckoned he has so I could change the ones on the shed opening door, we have double doors at the front, as the door keeps catching at the bottom. The result of being caught in a strong wind and wrenched from my hand - so not recently 😤😤. It seems crazy but the drier it is the more it grates on the step. Well he's removed 2 of the 3 hinges, but hinges he had aren't the same 🤐 so trying to straighten bent ones 🤐🤐🤐. Now the door is wedged shut, our dinner is in the freezer in there 😀 and we have a dog trainer coming round on 1-2-1 training as theres no puppy parties and training.

The trainer had a space today so we'll be in the back garden, possibly in the rain and the shed door will still be wedged shut at dinner time 😡. Shes busy because many folk are getting lockdown puppies. Just been advised of 2 female retired working  cocker spaniels looking for homes! Wouldn't you know it almost a year of looking............. Don't think we'd swop Dora, but shes turning into a nipper ouch!

I have tried to movitive him before without success, but I don't own a cattle prod, nice idea takethedogalong 😉 next online buy! When I don't want it to work it does 🤣🤣. But I'll still look for a prod 😉

Just had lunch and now need to get him moving again in the rain 😀. Don't know whether to curse or celebrate it 😱. Better look for my wet gear. Wonder what Dora will make of it as it's completely new to her 🤣🤣

Anyone read the Farmers Guardian? 😉😉. Our daughter in law features in an article. Got to ask her for a focused photo of it so I can read it 😂😂.

Right must get moving. Nice to read others posts

Whoops heavier and heavier, oh deep joy, maybe we can do it all indoors, oh no trainer not allowed in 🤣🤣

My husband has a couple of virtual meetings coming up so I've splashed out on a webcam for the desktop PC. I tried using our laptop (which has a built in camera), but it's too slow and clunky, and the screen on the Ipad is too small for what is likely to be a long meeting.

It was easy to setup - plug and play at it's simplest. We had a test Zoom session with our son, who advised Henry to wear earphones so I couldn't hear the meeting. So more wires dangling round the desk. I thought I was going to hear some juicy gossip. I will have to tidy up the view behind him. Unfortunately despite large book cases in every room, there will be none in shot (to show off our taste in reading).

Welcome showers these last couple of days - and a lot cooler. I may light the fire tonight.

Goldie it's an article about her, published last week, from physio to farming. Seems to be 3 page spread, not page 3 spread 😉, she farms under her maiden name Hannah Darby. I only learned if it on fb today! Sadly I think in her excitement to photo the article she forgot to focus properly 🤣🤣. So I can't make it all out! I've asked for a decent copy but shes passed to her mum, so hope I can read it soon!

Backgrounds to reporters on things these days are interesting. I wonder how  many are staged 😉? On BBC east Stuart White does an article every evening and we've seen his kitchen, dining room, lounge and garden 😉.

Shame about the headphones and no earwiging 😇

Just had a message dog trainer running half hour late, so door maybe fixed 😀. Suns out again fingers crossed, after she leaves I'll be as happy as for rain.

Milliehull I hope our DIL got some of what you've had I know the crops are desparate. Shame you got caught in it yesterday and it wasn't so warm. Quite a novelty 🤣🤣. I've put my ironing in a cupboard 😇 but I do see it when I go there!

Was to be my wet weather job but after shooting into town for more suet balls and other bits from Wilko as a slight detour to the chemist - still well organised in there and I wanted to do it before the other shops in the precinct reopen next week, I chucked as much as I thought I I could carry - think blackhorse! into my basket. I'm so lucky that I don't have an immediate money issue 😉. I've decided I need more masks! So that'll be my first treat of a job. I change masks and gloves with shops, I believe they reckon 20 minutes wear and then the moisture from your breath holds the virus 😱.

As I drove past Farm Foods it was quiet so I popped in, won't again (I'll pay a bit more), only wanted blueberries and their toilet rolls, no screens for the tills - signs but no adherence to social distancing. I was able to go past an empty checkout to freezer I wanted and loo rolls, straight out without encountering anyone other than checkout lad. Also shot into Lidl nextdoor for muesli and OH breakfast cereal he prefers theirs, reasonable in there 1st in 12 weeks 😂. Thence to my real reason for being out the chemist, all good in there, apparently it's becoming normal now they even have calpol in stock 😱

Having trouble accessing the web site, seems to have gone awry again.

B2, hope the chat with the dog trainer goes well. Puppies do get very nippy, a lot of teething going on. We've got through a lot of hide chews and sawn up deer horn recently. We used to boil up marrow bones but I think they'd be too big for our latest addition. She is a mad teenager at the moment...a light cable chewed this week, amongst other things. 🐶🐕

I expect you'll be pleased to see the magazine article.

I had one last go at getting a covid test. I would have been interested to know but there you go, I tried! wink

Had a great day out and here's a quiz for you. Try and work out where you have seen these locations before, and I can safely say that most, if not all of you, have seen them before.

In the first a man tries to catch a bus, in the second a man comes out of his house and smugly slightly polishes his car.

You really have seen them, a lot though sometimes in the opposite order.

Btw the couple who own the house are happy and proud that people come to photograph it.

Thought I'd be first in the queue for when the site reopens.

After the above photos I went along to the coast then down over the Tyne along that one to Sunderland then inland home. A record 55.4 miles.

Had it all today, sun, rain hailstones. Good fun though
