Tammygirl similar posts 😃 great minds etc 😉.

I had to order material online cost was as I'd expect but the elastic was more!

I'm a sewer, using a needle and thread not wc 😂, and a 10 minute mask took me a good half hour with pressing etc. I have found a pattern I prefer now which has permanent inner layers and use a pipe cleaner,  forgotten we had them as OH gave up his pipe. I and will make some for friends if they'd like some, if the weather turns 😉 but they will a thank you for shopping etc they've done for us..  Was going to make some for son and DIL  but ran out of time before we went - they're using dust masks from farm tasks so guilt aswaged😃

Yay!!  Got to see our caravan today (not stored with CAMC!) first time since early March.  All fine fortunately, and phew it was hot in there!  At least it’s staying aired.  Opened some windows and roof vents and sat in it for a while 😢😀.  Hope we get away, maybe, in September.

Blimey! Just watching the farcical voting procedure in the Commons - "all line up", "come on, come on, hurry up" and oh, half of them don't seem to understand the instructions - come to the dispatch box,  state your name and say "aye" or "no". Is this really the way we are going to be governed for the foreseeable future? You really couldn't make it up - although apparently they have done! surprised

Thanks for asking about me earlier on here. I'm a bit groggy and decided to bite the bullet and arrange a covid test. HA HA! No postal tests available...but "keep trying" and nearest test centres too far away (didn't realise there were so few after all these weeks.)

Anyway I will keep trying now I've started, so that's my mission for the rest of the day.frown

Be warned if you have to do it have your NHS number etc to hand.

Just hoping this goes away. Grrrrr

Fingers crossed you secure a test. Get the results quickly. And that you feel better.

Crazy isn't it - all this hype about how many tests etc then none available! Test centres few and far between sought of contridicts the government guidance 😉. I'm looking forward to reading, not had time yet and only half an ear on the radio news, ONS chap in Matt Hancock. My dad always said figures can't lie and liars can't figure, but you can present them in certain lights 😉.

Must admit I was rather surprised as he is very close to his parents and usually spends a long time there.  Unfortunately (IMO) they stay only a 5 minute walk away, and normally, according to DD, he cannot even drive past on his way home without calling in!

However, he is a worrier over health matters, and other than when he has had to go to school, or has brought supplies here or to his parents,  or gone to pick up their click and collect, neither he nor DD have been out other than to take Callum in his pushchair for his midday nap.

They had agreed that they would be sticking to the rules rigorously, and way back at the start of lockdown he had chastised his mother for going out several times per week for shopping, as she was bored!

It is DD's birthday on Sunday, so we had hoped to be allowed a short lunch time visit for a small celebration, even offered to bring disinfected pre-packed sandwiches from M&S.  But, with a 2 year old who of course does not understand social distancing, they have apparently agreed that they will only have visitors after he goes to bed at night, so that knocked that plan on the head.

They do have a large garden, and a raised terrace by the house which is gated, so they could be up there and us on the grass, well apart, but they say they are worried that Callum will be upset if he cannot come and hug us.  OH reckons that if we are allowed to visit then the other grandparents would need to also be allowed, and that they are not trusted to "behave" !

So, instead, as we are delivering nappies and bread flour, and returning the borrowed hedge trimmer tomorrow while Callum is napping, we have pulled together a few things to wrap as her present, we already had the card, and will leave them to be opened on Sunday.

Despite being mainly overcast today, it is still very warm, and not even a breeze.  22.5 in the shade, 27.4 in the north facing kitchen, and 28 in the sitting room, even with windows wide open and 3 fans going.

This morning I did some more hedge trimming now all 3 of our garden bins have been emptied, as our garden man has got my petrol trimmer going again, he is great with the garden machines.  So now we have 1 garden bin filled up again.  This afternoon I have been tidying one of my rooms, slow progress, but at least SOME progress, keep finding things I have not seen for years!

So far I've got through 35 mtrs of elastic and another 20 mtrs on order. The elastic comes from NI, this lot (20 mtrs) cost just over £10 including postage.

The first 2 packs of fat squares I got from Aldi when in getting food, they very quickly went though and the next lot I ordered online from Aldi. That has now all gone, another order in for more but from another company and costs more £8.99 + PP that's for a pack of 6 fat squares 50 x 50cm.

Aldi and other companies still have packs of children's character material, I haven't bought any as most of the orders are for adults who want them for the buses/shops or going back to work.

I've got 2 patterns that I use now, I think I like making the second one best as its quicker, both take around the same amount of material though.

    Hi all,

my trip to work was not as bad as I was expecting, I left at 6 this morning, it was cool clear and crisp with very little traffic even as the clock turned 8am there was no sign of a 'rush hour'

all went well at work apart from one aspect were something was  supposed to have been done at lockdown and then  reminded to check last week. I was a bit infuriated to find a bit of buck passing going on. (out of sight out of mind) I had to get a bit grumpy with some as it delayed me for another 2 hours to sort the problem out. Visited the office block which was completely empty, so stuck a4 paper across the computer screens with rajohno was 'ere and a  Kilroy sketch on them, made me giggle anyway, one day I will grow up!

the ride back was similar to the ride down, a bit hotter though! there were a fair few speed traps around which maybe why everyone was driving sensibly for change. I realise I am not 'bike fit' my shoulders ache my knees are killing me and so is the unmentionable, maybe 5 hours on the bike for the first ride wasn't such a good idea!

    But it was nice.

The last really hot day for a little while here I feel.  Colder and wetter tomorrow - can't say we don't need the rain - our front lawn is looking like some of those pictures folk post of pitches "over there"!  wink

Too hot for Lady this afternoon but took Ralph across the fields and lanes we rediscovered at the start of the lockdown. But, horror of horrors, his regular watering hole  (it's really just a fieldside ditch with a stream running through it) has dried up since the last time we did the walk. So it was a bucketful of the cooling stuff for him on our return and a modest bottle of the Amber nectar for me (on a Tuesday too!) surprised

Still warm here. I am sat on garden swing watching the bees and birds, and the sun going down, pooch in attendance. We blitzed the garden this afternoon. Lawns done, weeded, deadheaded, OH took top off hedge gently to stop it getting away, careful of birds. It will be all sitting out stuff inside tonight, rain forecast early in morning. We need it but I shall miss the sunshine. Had an hour on Mums front lawn this lunchtime, they are fine. Came home with some lovely bread my sister had made. Good to see roads still very quiet here. Not many folks around, all seem to be being very wary.
Rain forecast all day tomorrow. I may have to become a Domestic Goddess and do some cleaning🙁

Dropped off the paperwork for the inscription and reinstating mum and dad's headstone. Well posted it through their door. Was going to post but felt it would be beneficial to have a run out, only a couple or three miles, but felt a bit like freedom!

Sat OH and puppy, attached to seatbelt via a harness, on the backseat. She was great 😀.

Took a very slight detour and checked out the farm shop. Few folk socially distancing so decided to join in. No one inside, served as in the old days 😀.  Lovely fresh produce, as usual. Bit of an impulse shop for me as I hadn't checked what we had as I only thought about it as I popped paperwork through the stone masons letter box 😂. Fabulous local strawberries and Jersey royals amongst other bits, left £22 lighter in the bank account 😱. Now I know I'll continue as it's the fresh things I find most difficult but next time I'll make a list and hand it over, makes it easier too! Probably cheaper 😂

We are forecast rain tomorrow but I think we could be a little too far south but Thursday it seems we will catch it. I fear that like takethedogalong I may have to resort to housework 😱😱😇 when it arrives. Meantime I'm making the most of the warm evening and giving everything a good drink to keep it going!

Edit has anyone else had lots of infernal server errors again today? Or is it just me?

Our market haberdashery is due to open very soon 😀. Our council is getting outdoor stalls for the indoor market 🤣🤣🤣. They are right on the open edge so maybe that could be isolated so can browse, else that will be 'old fashioned' service.

Fine day, warm with a light breeze this morning but it did cloud up during the afternoon. Out a little earlier this morning for our walk, so playing fields were less busy, then I went out on the bike around some of the local lanes and then back along by the coast for over 2 1/2 hrs this afternoon.

Glad that you are feeling a little better brue, and hope that you are successful in getting a test sent tomorrow.

Hope that we get some rain tonight, and not during the day tomorrow.

Oneputt that's great news. Life is so much easier when it's warm and dry 😉. Are they to go every day?

If children are lucky enough to come from a good home where they learn, often without knowing, their biggest miss has to be the social interaction.

Our daughter's class child returned to school yesterday,  2 weeks after they went back. She said she got the biggest hug and all his classmates were pleased to see him. He's deaf so she is employed mainly to assist him ( she has sign language qualification but sign language isn't universal 😲) and a few children with English as their 2nd language as well as a teacher aid - it's not just here that they want everything from you! She was sad to learn he didn't know he'd had a birthday and is now 8 😢😢.

Greyer this morning but certainly not cold!

    Enjoy your day folks.

Ps lots of neighbours beginning to get return to work details and dates. Not all will be as full time as they were as social distancing not possible, so 4 days, shifts etc with reduction in pay. Hopefully less tax and NI won't make it too bad.

Are they to go every day?

Yes B2, and they are happy with that.  There are 4 sets of twins in their year and I think they are all in the same class which obviously mitigates a little more of the risk.  Daughter has 4 tons of topsoil to move to the back garden as they are trying to make it more suitable for 21st century living with a young family.  The rear extension is totally finished and after the garden sorted the front extension will startsurprised

Busy busy busy. Sounds like lockdown for them was useful 🤣

Each school coping in their own way, not sure what's happening locally. The local junior school is the biggest in the county! They have 6 class intakes each year 😱. The site hasn't expanded since ours went there a few years back😉 so no idea how they'll cope if they all return!

I have had so many server error notices on here in the past few days that I lost the will to live and gave up!

Going back to a previous discussion - we have never insureed any of our cats or dog. We got caught out when Millie was 4 as she was hit by a car and her back leg was broken. Very expensive, but we just cancelled all our holidays that year - she was worth it and made a wonderful recovery. I still think we made the right decision as we would have paid out far more in insurance premiums than we did on that one operation.

We have had a lovely few days with socially distanced family visits either in their gardens or ours. Eldest grand-daughter, her partner and great-grandson had a socially distanced afternoon in our garden yesterday. The last time we had seen him he was 6 weeks old, now he is nearly 5 months. Gosh what a change.  He is very smiley and sociable. So lovely to see them. None of our grandchildren are back at school - they are all the wrong age. A couple of them might go back at the end of the month if all goes according to plan and people behave themselves. I just despair when I see all the photos and news footage of crowds of people on beaches and in parks, and that gathering in Trafalgar Square makes me want to bang all their stupid heads together.

I hope you manage to get a test soon brue and that is comes back clear.  Take care and hope you feel better soon.

OP, Well done to your daughter ad SIL. What an achievement and they will end up with a lovely family home when it is all done.

WE have not had insurance for our last two rescue dogs ,but there is a Nationwide account that we £25 pound into each month, it is quite healthy now,  and is not a lost amount of money ,as with insurance premiums even though it was used fro our last collie, but even with insurance there is normally a payment before they pay out,,

Woke to a strange sensation. Hark, what's that I hear? Gentle Rain spreading it's goodness into the soil and grass. Well, it started out as gentle but soon became a bit heavier. Just beginning to ease a little now so we may be able to get out and about soon.

Nothing much planned for today. Have quite a bit of paperwork that's been ignored due to the good weather so might get around to doing that. Feels like a day for a stew so I'll probably do a Chicken Tagine with Quinoa. Same thing only different as MiL likes to say.

I think the younger children will be a lot better at the social distancing so it's good to see Op's Grandkids back at school. There are 2 young ones opposite us, one is 4 and the other has just started walking. The 4 y.o. told me the other day that she has to keep away from people. She's like a coiled spring when Grandparents call around. Dying to jump and hug but can't. I just wonder what sort of lasting image it will leave. I hope they'll be able to act like normal young children soon before the idea of distancing becomes too entrenched.

I didn't know whether to be annoyed at the constant sunshine and good weather when we first started "lockdown". The thought of what we could have been doing making me feel that way. But I quickly switched to thinking how much worse it would have been not getting out and having rain all the time. It really would have been a lockdown then so one of the pluses about this whole thing has been the decent weather.

Of course my view might be different if I was in one of the groups in the Shielded sector or someone who didn't have access to a lovely piece of countryside to enjoy or even a garden to work on and sit out in.

    Lucky in some many ways.

    Still raining quite hard.

It’s been raining all day here (thankfully) nice and steady. The front lawn is sighing. It was beginning to look quite brown, as we’ve not had rain even if it was forecast. We seem to have our own dry little microclimate here and clay soil 😣.
I’m still working from home with no (intention 😉) sign of us all being called back into the office. I’m on a day off today. As I can’t get in the garden, I’m sat enjoying looking at it. I have a white iceberg rose that’s drooping under the weight of all its flowers.
Just had a thank you text from my brother in law. We ordered some Fat Rascal cakes from Betty’s in York to be delivered for his birthday. Being locked down has certainly given us the initiative to find other ways of sending gifts. I may continue with this sort of “shopping”. I’m already planning for the next family birthday by looking at The Pie Company website. And the one good thing is, you know the recipient will be at home to take the delivery. 🤗

ADD46. We had some Betty's Fat Rascals in the post a few weeks ago, a nice treat!

Still trying to book a Covid19 home test kit. The main gist appears to be that the website say kits are available and when you get to the end of the application and you're given a code number no tests are available. Looking a bit further into things it says " Even if you are successful in your application you might not get a test !! " (Who thought that one up?) Someone has told me to keep going but I think ten goes is enough?

I might try late at night, rather like a supermarket delivery slot application...

Meanwhile I feel a bit better than I did on Monday. smile

    Keep clean and carry on!
