I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of it as it goes over. Assuming it's the same as it would have been. Forgot to check it out earlier 😲

You haven't by any chance dropped them into one of the carrier bags you used for your shopping and have now stored away for till the next time, have you?

I was just looking through Wainwright's Outlying Fells book and he has that top listed as Beacon Fell, although it's not actually named as such on the OS map. There are a few other tops in the area that will not have many visitors so we could well be doing some of them later. The ones I'd like to do are Stickle Pike  and Caw above Dunnerdale, but fear that OH may not be up to it.

Yes it was! Just the thought that I could watch something from NASA on a smart phone was quite something too. Will try to see the ISS around 10 pm. smile

Did one of our regular walks this morning, great views as the air is so clear. Then after lunch I went for 1 3/4 hrs ride on my bike. It certainly feels as if my legs, and a*se, are getting used to riding again. It was very busy at a small sea side car park but people were well spread out on the sands in small groups.

A very impressive launch. A shame they lost the pictures of stage 1 landing back on that barge. Hope to see that later. The ISS will pass over 22:11 to 22:16 of course going west to east at a medium altitude from the southern horizon. The dragon will be behind but lower in the sky 22:16 to 22:18.

The ISS will be easy to see. The dragon much more difficult.

Half the street out here. 😂 We easily spotted the ISS . There was a brief flash lower down a couple of minutes behind, although we weren't convinced it wasn't  a plane, as it seemed to be moving the wrong way.

Mrs WN didn't see the Dragon at first until I tracked it for her. It was very faint. I have lousy smell, bad taste ( especially in clothes), wonky hearing (except for bird song) but my long distance eyesight is excellent.

Finished the jobs on the roof and up the ladder. The ridge tiles didn't need doing once I had a good look at them. Just a bit of loose mortar. The Western facing brickwork now weatherproofed. All ladder work safely negotiated.smile

Talking to our local chicken keeping neighbour yesterday and I mentioned that I was having to chase the Crows and Magpies away from the woods and garden as they were after the fledglings of the Sparrows and Blue Tits etc. He said that his Chickens had taken exception to a Crow trying to steal their food and three of them attacked it and killed the Crow.surprised So don't mess with them there Chickens.

Nice break yesterday from CT. (Good job I checked that as I put CY first time. Oops.embarassed)

I wondered what was going on.😁

30c here today, sweltering in the sun, but I did a bike ride round our park, and stuck to quite a few shady areas. Park a lot quieter than it has been, I am guessing a lot of folks are getting back to a bit more normality, although our roads are still very quiet. Not sure how many schools have opened, but still quite a few families with children sat picnicking in the shade. Too hot to do much in garden until later, so I am trying to find a new ice cream recipe, one without eggs......

Wherenext I delighted to read that ladder work has been safely completed.

Didn't see SpaceX or ISS, forgot 😱.

Milliehull yes I expect it will be strange for your great grandson to be around people other than his parents when the time comes. Have they managed to go out for walks etc with him?

I took myself to M&S and Wilko this morning, suitably masked and gloved separately for each shop. Waited for them both to open 😱, that's unheard of 🤣. Felt safe in both, few folk about a little eyrie walking the high street. Nice to choose my own shopping or an alternative if the stock wasn't there! M&S do a lovely tin of butternut soup great standby. My neighbour offers and gets me bits when she's in there, but she got me fresh soup, which I've frozen, as I didn't specify tinned so much harder to write a list for someone else! Plus she's vegan so don't like to ask for meat and dairy. Still freezer has some luxury bits now. (Must go tidy it properly as bits just popped in) Surprised to have shopped packed and loaded at a self checkout 🤨 they hate me 🤣 by 0820, they opened at 0800. Managed to get in Wilko after they opened at 0830. Got basics including suet balls, our birds will eat as many as I put  out a day 😱. They'd got lots but couldn't carry more than one container full, as it was I had 4 bags plus container of them. Luckily I parked very close to the subway meaning a shortish walk to the car before driving home. Usual wipedown ritual, stripped off clothes in the wash shower and hairwash. I usually walk to and from but knew there'd be heavy stuff 😉

Nice cuppa in the garden. Sitting out there now, suns moved and someones put another log or 2 on the fire!

Conservatory door had a turn and wouldn't close, just hitting the step by mm's, phone the folk who built it 20 years ago, guy out with 30 minutes and it's fixed. Great service. Wasnt sure how to secure tonight - now not an issue. Yesterday anheuser in a road about 10 mins walk away had a guy try to get in, luckily she managed to close the door  and lock herself in. Police suspect homeless guy as there was another incident 😢

Going to chill in the shade for another hour or so and then apply for some premium bonds online. Wish me luck! I accidentally opened another current account with Metro whilst trying to purchase a fixed rate bond, not an easy website. But I succeeded with the bond yesterday. Spent 40 minutes on the phone cancelling unwanted current account this morning 😤. Took moments to complete the task but the messages about covid19 and which button to choose then tinny music took forever. Still sorted now. Also had to phone LV for pet insurance quote, 3 attempts at the weekend ended in something went wrong please call, similarly with  Tesco pet insurance except they thought I was a colleague 😱 left 19 years ago 😂😂, no issues for grocery shop who knows? Guy said just put club card number in, I didn't think about that - doh! Lost the will then so it can wait, we have 4 weeks, well 2 left from the breeder and 3 from the vet - slightly better cover from vet's freebie, so no rush thankfully.

    Stay safe folks.

Friends granddaughter,  year 1, got school 1 day a week starting tomorrow. As she has a vunerable father advise is come in, all clothes in the wash, shower and hairwash BEFORE seeing daddy 😱. It's that safe 😉. She's just 5 is it worth it?

Another friend on the list for transplant - nice sticker in her car "not all disabilities are visible" after much abuse - why? Isn't letting her 5 year go for the same reason as above, in fact her school advised against her return.

Takethedogalong don't know our current temperature but in the deep shade its 23.3c phew!

Ttda, Here's a recipe from an allergy free cook book I use. This one is without eggs. Never used it so can't vouch for it.

    Chocolate Ice Cream

450ml Full fat milk or Almond or Rice Milk

    15g Cornflour

    75g Golden Caster Sugar

    50g Cocoa Powder

In a small bowl add 100 ml of milk to the cornflour and stir until smooth.
Place the sugar and cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl. Pour remaining milk into a saucepan and heat gently until just simmering. Take pan off heat and pour over sugar and cocoa powder, whisking to dissolve sugar and keep the mixture smooth.
Return the mixture to the pan and place back on hob, then this in the cornflour mix and simmer to about 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.Pour the mix into a clean bowl and leave to cool for about an hour at room temperature. After an hour whisk the mixture, cover with cling film and chill in fridge for anything between 2 and 24 hours. The longer the better.

Once chilled, freeze and churn in an ice cream maker per instructions. You need at least a 1 litre capacity.

B2, we have never insured any of our pets before but decided to insure are latest little arrival. She had a month's free insurance from the RSPCA but we decided to go with Boughtbymany money back policy, the vets also advised us which type to go for which was helpful although this didn't influence our choice.

Bakers - regarding pet insurance, we've always insured ours up to the age of 8 then the premiums skyrocket so we end the policy and put the money aside for them "just in case" - thankfully never needed it (fingers crossed).

If you sign up for Dogs Trust at  £12 a year you automatically get cover for 3rd party expenses so that is what we do now. smile

Brue weve never insured a pet before - even when the children were little and life was constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul 😱. Well maybe not constantly 😀. I'll look at that one thanks.

Moulsey that's really what I'd prefer to do and always told our son that for granddog but he continues to insure and always ends up paying without claiming if she needs the vets. Money's better in my pocket if theres' no claim. These days we do have a cushion too. That Dogs Trust sounds good too.

Breeder suggested 1st year as a just in case, I'm still contemplating. Vet reckons lifetime cover if you can afford it. But only £10k ish for all vet fees for a year huge monthly fee, by my standards anyway, even with a large voluntary excess. Although it starts again for next premium year. Then a further 20% of vet bill on top of chosen excess when they reach 8 😱😱😱.

I can feel my dad spinning, you paid what for a mongrel? Insure a dog etc etc.

Edit might need that insurance fee for shoes, she adores them and knows it's wrong without being told, she grabs and runs faster than usual and they're as big as her 😂 or dresses as she does love a tug of war as you walk 😱

Pet Insurance is a nightmare. To access the “lifetime cover” you have to stick with the same insurer, who then whack up the premium payments every year. Change insurer, and the new one won’t cover you for ‘existing conditions” 😡 We tend to do as M does, join something for 3rd party cover, and just use your savings for anything that crops up, praying it won’t be anything much. Hence, we have done Labradors, he’s cost more than every other dog we have ever owned put together😱 But we love him........

Top dogs tip from me. Don’t walk a puppy longer than 5 minutes for every month of age in first six months (helps avoid joint problems) and if you can get them to eat fresh carrot sticks once they are off puppy food, the carrots really help keep teeth plaque free. Easier than getting your fingers munched trying to clean them😂

Now then, back to that Airedale website.......🤔

Takethedogalong the reason I'm backpack training her is so that she can ride when i/we are out walking without being restricted. So easy to over walk and they just keep going!

I knew about carrots but didnt know when we could start so that'll be 12 months ish.

Glad I put it out there I'll do much more thinking 😉

Yep that backpack is a great idea. What sort of size is she, doesn’t look that small. One of our Airedale pups was a monster at 3 months, and no way on this Earth could we carry the Chocolate lump!😂

    I still have our Airedale’s baby teeth.....😢

Depending on breeding, I would insure for first year, then look at premiums for second. They can get into a lot of mischief in first year....😱

Noticed how mucky the solar panels on the house were yesterday, so clambered up on the garage roof armed with step ladder and extending hose brush. Only managed just past the first row of panels. Had a rummage in the "come in handy box"(garage) and fabricated an extending handle with a couple of bits of plastic pipe. Up there again this morning but still couldn't quite reach the top foot or so. Should improve things a bit though. It's the first time I've cleaned them in eight years although I'm wondering if it's the prolonged dry spell that's caused the accumulation. May's output has been the highest in all that time.

    Orange Ice Cream

Equal quantities of orange juice and double cream.

Whip the cream to softish peaks.

    Add orange juice. Whip.

Add sugar to taste, making it slightly  sweeter than you want as it changes when frozen.

Freeze - giving a extra beat or two now and then, if you can be bothered. I never do.

Yep you're echoing the breeder's and my thoughts on insurance.
