It's good to hear of inivitative ways of making things 'better' in the current situation. Sounds like it will be lovely and your OH will be appropriately dressed for the ocassion.

I hope silaging will finish tonight for you. Then it can start growing again ready for a second cut - if you get some moisture. I take it you don't irrigate these fields?

I'm wary of picking up litter these days. Not too bad here but apparently the parks are full of it 🤬🤐

Until drive-thru's got the green light, we had 4 McDonald's in our town open for delivery - what does that say about our dietary habits?, during lockdown now they're open as drive throughs, why we need so many McDonald's in one small city, we have at least one that isn't drive through so that's 5 😱, it's been unpicked up dog poo that's been the issue. Only noticed 1 lot whilst out this morning, but that was 1 too many 🤐

Someone posted on fb that a group of youngsters got up and were about to walk away leaving rubbish - she spoke to them and they disposed of it in the bin right next to them! Are they used to someone cleaning up behind them at home?? Another said she'd had to ask a smoker to desist whilst in a queue outside the post office. The person did, but the abusive comments on fb were unbelievable.........

We have noticed more unpicked up dog poo recently,  Also it has come with what seems to be a quite large increase in dog ownership since the "advise?" about only essential exercise ,

Just recently a "family?"in front of Rosa and I, with a dog did not pick up,  so i offered them a poo bag, they were suprised  they had to pick up in the country side? then wondered how they were to dispose of ityell

As is now said  "A dog is for life not just corvid 19undecidedsurprised"

Bakers - no irrigating, except the rain, which will hopefully wash the slurry in which we’ll be spreading next week. In the right conditions 2nd Cut will be in about 6 weeks.

No rest for the wicked! Wicked? Chance would be a fine thing,

A beautiful day here, off for a walk in the forest shortly. This week has seen a pick up in numbers. Mostly due to the fact they have reopened the car park. Some possibly as it is half term and the kids aren't home schooling. Lunch time always seems a bit quieter, so that is when we tend to go.

Got a few admin tasks out the way this morning. Renewed the roadfund tax on the XTrail so the credit card has got a bit more on it this month. It accepted that the MOT was extended OK. They even have a statement there now, that this does not happen until 3 days before the current one expires.

Also sent yet another email to dobbies. We ordered some seeds through them, that were to be dispatched from Thomson and Morgan, on the 25th March. We have never received any notice of dispatch or any seeds. Only an email on the 15th April saying there was a delay. Sent an email to dobbies asking for money back but no response, so a further one sent today. Tried phoning, but judging by the speed the queue was going down, the wait would have been over an hour.☹️ Even in the current crisis it is a very poor show. We have order loads of stuff online, all has arrived on / before time or with minimal delay. Even my boxes of wine from Provence only took 6 days.😀

Yet another glorious day here.  Went for a walk along the river to the beach at about 10 this morning.  Lots of people on the beach already and cars pouring in.  Will probably go out again about 5.30 this afternoon when the multitudes have left 🏖🌞

Lovely warm sunny day here again too apparently it is to get even warmer at the weekend. Today is the day that we come more in to line with lockdown easing as the rest of UK which is a welcome boost we are getting really fed up now and have been using our own common sense regarding going out etc for a while now. Interestingly listening to a Q and A with the deputy first minister this morning and he suggested that campsites May be amongst the first tourism sectors to open and possibly sooner than the original time scale he even mentioned about how easy it is to self isolate etc in your own accommodation. We shall wait and see

Ice cream van just gone up our road playing its happy tune. It's the one that's been trying to muscle in on our long established family run round 😡🤐

Not sure if its allowed to trade but we won't be using that company on principle.

Wasn't it Dawn French who said her Mum used to tell the children the ice cream van only played its tune to let people know it had sold out? Cruel, eh? wink

I think lots of parents have tried that one. Growing up in a lane in a village even if the ice cream van came to the village it rarely came up our lane even though it joins the main road both ends 😢. My brother and I were the only children for as long as I can remember. I still feel excited when I hear an ice cream van chimes 😂. Our 'proper' ice cream van has the most awful tinny tune and I'm missing it. Certainly wont be buying from yankee doodle van, off key greensleeves it is 🤣

Still hot with clear skies down this way,

Spent yesterday getting my main Motorbike out of storage (my shed!) only to find the brakes rusted up with road salt and condensation from the last ride (in February!) So spent the day stripping it down freeing off cleaning and polishing, then went for a test spin around the Isle to fill the tank with fuel. Its now ready for that 'call back to work'

Last night was a sleepless night, I think the Navy (Queen Elizabeth) are playing, it was nonstop with gunfire and aircraft flying around constantly, sounds we havn't heard since the air station closed down in 1998.

Today I have mowed the front lawn, whilst waiting a delivery of a portable satellite system for the MH (for OH!). once it arrives I will be down to my garage 1/4 mile away to bring my Royal Enfield out and get it ready for the road as well.

    Enjoy Your day laughing

Busy morning. Tip visiting day. Started out well, after reducing black bin levels so I could manage them by myself, I arrived at the tip and got instant access. All neatly laid out and I was told that they were accepting all normal waste as well, which is different from the councils web page that I checked yesterday. Not checked it today though.

However I got back and loaded up a second lot including all of the non garden waste and set off again, only this time hit a 30 minute queue. Nevertheless, it's all gone now. Good social distancing at site and only a few cars at a time. Everyone behaving themselves.

Mrs WN currently getting to grips with new iPad. Setting things up. I'm keeping out of the way until called on to remember passwords etc.

A beautiful day out there. Just about to go and do an hours gardening. Got brown bins to fill.smile

I've spent the last couple of hours slicing and caramelizing some onions ready for a cheese and onion loaf I've found a recipe for. I never realised what a long drawn out process that was, although I have to say the results look (and taste) well worth it! smile

A beatiful day, left the house at 7 and cycled up to Newcastle then westwards to the Derwent valley walk to Consett then along the Lanchester valley walk to Durham and northwards home.

The idyllic photograph is the site of Lintz Green station on the Derwent valley path. However this little station was made nationally famous in 1911 as it was the site of an unsolved murder. On the night of Saturday 7th October 1911 the stationmaster after seeing off the last train at 10.42 walked from the platform to his house behind it and was shot in his doorway. His assailant was never found.

It is said that on dark and stormy nights a ghostly train still passes through the trackless station and of a ghostly figure with a lantern waking back to the house...

Phew!   Really far too hot here for doing much,  29 degrees out front on the balcony.

Thought I would move the caravan and trim our neighbour's Leylandii hedge, moved the van then discovered not only that my hop-up is down at DD's house, but that my petrol hedge cutter would not start.

Cut some bits I could reach, by hand, then managed to get the machine going, only to run out of fuel.  Walked down to the nearby garage to fill up my can, walked back, all uphill, and now need a rest!

May go out later once it is cooler and do a bit more, otherwise I need to go out there early on before the sun comes round.

On second walk of the day went and tidied up and replanted the war memorial before heading down to the beach.  Despite it still being warm and only just gone 5 the beach was practically deserted.  Watched 4 of the wind farm work boats return from their days graft before heading home.  Just read that it’s possible caravan sites will open shortly so just written to a favourite in case they get any cancellations 🌞

What a scorcher it's been today! I have very fetching v-shaped sunburn on my chest and back😂

On a positive note I purchased a beautiful pale green pot for my plum tree and it's now looking very pretty. I remembered to put some bone meal in with the compost but completely forgot to put the tree feed in that I'd bought especially (can I just sprinkle it on top and water it in or do I need to start again?).

Where did you read that, One? I ask because I got in touch with the site where we have our van this afternoon to ask if it was allowed to go down, do a bit of sorting out and stay for a couple of days. The reply was that we're definitely not allowed to stay overnight until they reopen (hopefully) in July. frown

No, it is not a dense enough hedge to give enough shelter for nesting, more just a line of trees that most unreasonably keep growing over our side!

Been a lovely day here to.

Shopping first thing this morning, as usual we did our next door neighbour's, my sister and ours. Aldi was not to busy until you got to the veg section, were it had all ground to a halt, as 2 ladies were having a good old chinwag surprised I stood waiting patiently for awhile then said "excuse me ladies but you are holding everyone up" neither of them had masks on, didn't give a hoot about 2 mtrs etc. Covid what Covid yell

Managed to get past them only to meet them coming head on the wrong way a few minutes later. One of the staff members said I think they are new we've never seen them here  before. Then onto Asda for a few things that Aldi don't do, managed to get in before the rush, back out in less than 10 mins, huge queue forming outside.

Back home and a bit of pottering in the garden, washing machine finished so hung the washing out.

Lunch then off out for a cycle ride, this time we put the bikes in the car and drove down to my sisters, she lives near the river Tay where there is a cycle path all the way into town. Everywhere much busier than before, new relaxing comes in tomorrow will it be worse undecided

Other than possibly seeing our daughter "in the flesh", I don't think we will be going out any more than before, most things we need can be ordered on line.  Only place I really want to open is the local timber merchant as DD has a project for me......toy storage for Callum.

We have a pile of stuff building up in the hall for DD, so trying to arrange either to drop it off or she collects.

Long chat with our son the other evening, their building work is almost complete ( 2 new dormers and a new Velux, additional shower room etc) but they have come across the same problem as DD.....glaziers are all closed.  They have window frames, but no glazing units for the dormers,  just plywood instead.  The painters are finishing off, but he is reluctant to get carpets fitted before the glazing is in place.

It will be nice to see our daughter in the garden instead of over the gate! I think we've seen her just a few times since lock down, dropping things off etc.

I think we're now in a risky phase so will proceed with caution. smile

It's going to be another scorcher today I think. Already very warm, clear blue skies and barely a breath of breeze.

I took the dogs out early for a riverside walk this morning and was rewarded by renewing acquaintance with this family of swans. When I saw them a couple of months ago the 6 youngsters still had their brown cygnet plumage - not any more, a fine looking group now, not an ugly duckling amongst them!  smile

Seeing Spring evolve daily before our eyes has been one of the best bits about having to stay put M, and this weather has been fantastic. Even up here in Yorkshire, plants in my garden are a good three-four weeks ahead, in fact I am starting to wonder what might fill July and August! Lots of feathered babies fluttering around, learning how to fly, have a bath, etc....magical😁

I feel I have been watching my garden grow in slow motion! Like many we are often away at this time of year and only at home for limited periods so miss a lot that happens. As, in the words of a song, always look on the bright side of life, chorus pleasesmile

Interesting walk down the beach this morning, firstly watched a St Bernard (?) isolating in the yacht pond then watched the heavy lift ship Bokolift 1 prepare and leave our outer harbour.  Amazing ship of 48000 DWT and the crane can lift 1200 tons.  She has just delivered 2 x gas platform topside of out 400 tons each.  These topsides will be thoroughly cleaned and broken up for recycling.  They have probably been pumping and processing gas for 50+ years
