Been a lovely sunny warm day here today so we haven’t ventured out just spent the day in the garden. Just sitting out in the deck just now got the chops and burgers sizzling away on the BBQ just now.

Been a lovely day here to.

This morning I decided to give the inside of the caravan a good clean. All lockers and cupboards cleaned out, under beds and shoe cupboard done. Kitchen area and cooker had a good clean as did the whole of the bathroom. All now looking bright and smelling lovely. I haven't touched it since coming back at the end of November.

After lunch we went for a cycle ride, 15 miles through lovely countryside. Some parts of the road had fair bit of traffic on them but most were quiet. As usual we got the idiots that like to give you just enough room as they overtake you and then cut back in right in front of you yell

Back home and OH was back in his shed tinkering. I decided that we probably won't get anymore frost now so ok to reseed the back grass. smile Where we made the raised bed I needed to seed that area as it is smaller than the flower bed I had there. We were still outside working at 18.30 so a late meal tonight.

I had a lovely surprise when we got back from out cycle, a box on the back deck with flowers and a birthday card in it from our eldest son. Its my birthday on Thursday, we are usually away for it so this is the first time in 9 years that I've had a card and flowers from him smile

Happy birthday from me as well!

Great afternoon in garden. Pond area is now finished at long last, space for a few more plants nowlaughing Planted a new tree as well, a Gingko, so hope it does ok. some new solar lights put up, will be unveiling these tonight. Couple of nice strolls with the pooch. I am awaiting some new walking shoes ordered online, hoping these will help with foot issues.

Got a bike ride planned for tomorrow, both of us going out together. Will be OH's first proper ride out for six weeks! This weather has been absolutely lovely, such a bonus.

We must have had some welcome rain in the night as the ground was still damp when we got up, however the day turned into a fine one with only a light wind. Did one of our regular 3 ml walks over the old playing fields before lunch then I had  bike ride for 2.5 hrs this afternoon down by the docks and then over to the gate to the Nature Reserve.

On 3 of the last 5 nights when out for our last word of the day we've passed a hedgehog in roughly the same place each time. It's obviously his/her usual route too. Wonder if I spot it again, in about 15 mins time?

Very sunny and warm here all day, and yesterday afternoon was lovely too.
OH was out front yesterday doing some weeding before it got out of hand, when suddenly a bird shot out of the raised bed.  As she pulled out a clump of grassy weeds and went for the next clump, she saw there was a nest with at least 4 tiny birds in it tucked in the corner of the bed, so carefully closed the grass over them and moved away.

We managed to gather up all the debris, keeping away from the nest, and later saw one parent return, so all was well.  Apart from the fact that  we still have a lot of weeds in there!

I set up my camera and later found that it was a Robin's nest.  We will wait till the babies fly off and then remove it.  They will have to find somewhere else next year.

FaceTime with Callum as he ate his lunch, we were left to distract him while Mummy did some work.  They have just heard that Daddy is now expected to be back at school full time in 2 weeks time to prepare for August, although the teachers are not sure what exactly they are to be doing for the 3 weeks they will be there before the summer break.

This also leaves Mummy without anyone to share the childcare for 3 weeks,  while still working 3 days each week.  Nurseries are not open yet, though should be by the start of next term.  She has informed her employer, and they are going to try to work something out, and she is hoping that Daddy may not be in school as much as he thinks.

Another lovely, warm, sunny day here.  Spent most of the day in the garden.  Went for our walk around 5pm and took the usual route through the park and down to the river.  Watched 3 wind farm workboats return to port then watched a heavy lift vessel offload a 400 ton redundant Gas platform topside.  This will be cleaned up of all the residue hydrocarbons and then broken up for recycling.  On the way back from the harbours mouth I spotted a £5 note on the ground, after a squirt of sanitizer I recovered it.  Guess it’s a trip to the local police station tomorrow, I& they are open

Glorious day here yesterday and almost finished in garden. Just about to head to Wickes again as it turns out ten 17kg bags of pebbles weren't enough for our border, so off to buy another ten.

Also after a bird bath and a few more plants so will be making our first visit to our local nursery. Their website advises everyone to wear a mask, so I've found a pack of dust masks in shed leftover from when we sanded the internal doors 😊

It's all go with silaging here, and apart from a breakdown on the second load (quote from our son " big stone went into the knives of the forage wagon and did a bit of metal bending. An hour with the gas bottles and everything was straight and back to normal.") it's going well.

A photo from last night. The building is a Valve House for the Thirlmere Viaduct which goes right through our land. Loads of information on the web e.g. here for a start - Thirlmere Viaduct on Wikipedia.

Quiet on here and the forum generally today.

Finished the re-concreting of the flags this morning. Went for a stroll to unkink everything afterwards but not far as lunch beckoned. Caught up with some gardening duties this afternoon then cooked dinner. Singapore Noodles tonight.

Just off to water the bushes and grass. Delicates were done before the sun got on them.

Edit - Hope Ttda gets better. Nasty rash on the face.😁😷

😁 I am getting prepared. Lockdown appears to to be on the wane here sadly. The difference in two days is remarkable. A lot more traffic.
We did a nice bike ride today, out together for first time since end of March. We have decided to use pedestrian walkways where there are no dedicated cycle lanes, as are most others as it turns out. It’s just too dangerous out in the road with huge trucks and amateur racing drivers not taking any prisoners. We had a lovely ride until the last mile, came out of woodland and parkland down a quiet little narrow residential road, and today’s nasty person drove straight at me, at speed. He then did a handbrake turn and wanted to know why I questioned his legitimacy. He got short shrift from all those who had seen what he did, but I think investing in a Go Pro camera is going to be the only way forward. It’s my first week out on our local roads, I usually only cycle when we go away, but OH says he faces it every ride out.
Stunning weather here, and it looks set for a good while longer yet. 😁

Well we went to the garden centre and wore our face masks but it wasn't enforced and there were quite a few people wandering about without them. We have done a fair few miles in the car today (our local Wickes had sold out of river pebbles so we ended up at the Sunderland branch) and the A19 was as busy as any normal pre-lockdown day and it really felt like no one was "staying alert".

I have used so much antibacterial gel today that my hands are dry and sore but it was worth it. I am now the proud owner of a bird bath and a small plum tree (2 things ticked off my wish list). I now need a large container for the plum tree as I've decided not to plant it in the ground and then I can take it with me when we move to the country😊

According to OH no-one with face masks in local chemist the other day including himself but he did wear gloves.

I took the dog out early this morning and could hear a lot of bees in a tree 200 yards away. A bit later on, sitting in our garden, there was a loud noise overhead and a swarm of bees passed over, I like bees but when they swarm it can be a bit scary.. I ducked under the sun umbrella!

Thebells. We replaced a dead plum tree with a small new one early in the year, it has sat in the ground looking as though it was dead. OH kept watering it and only now have new leaves started to bud. We don't normally water things for months but this has paid off. 🌿

    Question for Ttda.

Have you or haven't you changed your Avatar? This MacBook shows a very attentive Labrador ( biscuits must in front of him) and the Android shows, well I'm not sure how to describe it/him/her/it. A helmet in place of a face I suppose. Or even worse explanation, am I losing it?

I've had a lovely day today. Nice late start followed by breakfast and then a nice birthday present from OH. My friend called mid morning and we had a lovely long chat.

A bit of pottering in the garden then lunch followed by more pottering and a bike ride, new to us this one,  it was very pleasant so will do that one again.

More pottering in the garden on return after a cup of tea of course. Then half an hour spend giving the reseeded grass a light spray with the hose.

Just about to start dinner, BBQ sirloin steak when son number 2 called to wish me happy birthday. Managed to cook and eat dinner before son number 2 called. First birthday I've spent at home in 9 years, it was a good one despite Covid.

You can see people have had enough of not being able to do normal things and the fabric of the last 8 weeks is beginning to unravel. We have seen more breaking of the "guidelines" over this last week than in the previous 8 weeks combined. Just small things like families driving to visit, even though some of them have kept their 2 metres apart, but others don't seem to bother.

Waiting in the car park of Tesco early this morning I noticed more than half of the shoppers not wearing a mask and very few with gloves.I fear that a second wave may appear in a few weeks time.

We had a plumber call yesterday on an emergency and we opened the door, he touched nothing apart from the appliance itself and I left the envelope with the money in near the door on his exit. All surfaces wiped down that he was anywhere near.

Hope I'm wrong about a new wave but.....

Edit - Happy "Lasting out another year" TG.smile

And a happy birthday from me too, TG. Good to hear that you've had a grand day.

House work for us both this morning and washing out on the line before our morning walk. So warm and very little wind that it was just t-shirt, shorts and sandals. Not too many about but we were a lot later than normal getting back as we encounter quite a few acquaintances enough route. Found a small job in the house that I'd forgotten to do so that passed part of the afternoon before our second long walk of the day. It was quite productive as I came home with the 3rd part of Hillary Mantel's Wolf Hall trilogy, picked up at a charity table set up outside a house locally. Shopping this evening, and the only time we had to queue was when paying for our goods in B&M and Tesco.

Spotted the Hedgehog again last night during our last walk out, wonder if so again tonight. I'll find out shortly. Saw a couple of large bats flying above our garden last night, and am at present being serenaded by a male Blackbird.laughing

Thanks all for the birthday wishes, It was a very nice day.

A shame we couldn't go out for a meal at a nice country pub but hey ho these things happen. A nice BBQ steak and a glass of cider, in warm sunny weather so can't grumble. smile

Off shopping tomorrow wonder if we see many more folk, now Nicola has relaxed things a little. undecided

No, you are not losing it😁 I did indeed change my avatar to the Gladiator mask, rather than the pooch. I can only change it on our Mac Book, impossible to do on ipad🤷‍♀️ Usually, once I have changed it, if I refresh the page on my iPad, the new avatar does come up. However, this time it hasn’t. So on the Mac Book and my iPhone I am Maximus, on the iPad, I remain the pooch! It’s something to do with the Club’s weird software I think.

No idea what will happen on Sunday. I become a non member.......😂

Our little dog has missed out on the usual socialising and traffic confidence B2. We got off to a good start and now we're starting again, she has got to used to quiet and isn't keen on noisy vehicles.

Yes it's hard especially if you are lucky enough to live in a quiet area. Ours isn't noisy, certainly not at the mo 😉, but easy access to busy roads - even in lock down!

The newish puppy a couple of doors away continually yaps, some neighbours have shouted 😯, but that and other dogs barking phases her not - think she has OH's laid back gene's 🤣🤣. Shes certainly got his activity ones at the mo! Shes sound asleep after her walk this morning 😂. Hes not come out of the bedroom yet!

It's like everything else these days finding new ways of working. Oh I hate that phrase - work 🤬. No puppy parties or classes. However brazen Dora has written to a couple of dogs she knows about asking for play dates in a few weeks for an unsociable walk 😉🤔

Today my husband is going to a funeral - well, to a part of it. A well loved and respected  local farmer died last week (not Covid 19). He has always said he wanted a big funeral. So there will be a sort of guard of honour down his farm lane - tractors and rally cars - which will then follow the hearse the few miles to the crematorium. Other farmers will be parked and lined up (2 metres apart) along the road. Only 10 in the Crematorium, but the service is being live streamed.

I asked Henry if I should lift his suit out. No, he's wearing a boiler suit.

Meanwhile silaging is expected to finish tonight.  So I had better get on with the lunch boxes.

I got up early to see if the bread machine had worked on the timer, all OK. smile
