Adorable Dora, and she certainly looks it B2.  It’s making me ‘dog broody’ if that’s a thing? 😂

A couple of photos from my niece Pauline.  She's a seamstress by profession but as her business is currently closed she has been cutting out hundreds of scrubs.  Having the weekend off so trying out various things using off cuts of material.  Come up with these retro type Aprons (photo 1)

Taking Bobby dog (9 months old) out to meet Poppy (a first for him)

Good to see some creativity Oneputt, at least we've been given some time to do these things but I hope your niece can be back to her "proper" seamstress work soon. smile

It's hot here, I was going to do some early morning gardening, I've got plants to go in and weeds to take out but the soil is like concrete and I've given up and will leave the new plants in the shade for a bit longer. The birdsong is lovely outside. We moved down from Scotland at this time of the year and we were struck by the birdsong then, it was much quieter/different in the highlands and we'd forgotten what it was like!

Good luck with the silage Goldie. I had my first Saturday paper in weeks due to a delivery on that day and got one for my neighbours too.

    Two wonderful events today !!

First --  I've managed to kick this blooming P.C. back into life ( Hurrah  surprised )

Second --  Just read the info about a certain Gentleman being released from his cage and, thus, giving much pleasure to some ex-member of our digital acquaintance  (  laughinglaughing )

Keep on enjoying this weather whilst it lasts  wink

Those are lovely aprons OP, very retro😁

The pooch is a grand looking lad, they don’t half love to have a sniff. Our vet told us that it’s vital for a dog’s well being to have a good old sniff around, keeps them interested in things and motivated.

After breakfast decided to try Tescos for a delivery date, this being 8.15 this morning.Never tried at that time before. They had quite a few to choose from which was a big surprise as they had none yesterday.

So our walk was a bit delayed as I sorted out a provisional order and paid and then we headed off to walk the long way to town to drop off a prescription for MiL and back a different way. Back just in time for lunch.

Ordered a new Laptop as Mrs WNs getting very slow so settled on an iPad Air.

Hope it does't take too long for the foot to heal Oneputt as I know you like a stroll.

A lovely warm day, perhaps even hot at times. Did a lovely ride today, first to Newcastle then to South Shields along a fantastic cycle path, lunch on the seafront then along to Sunderland, again all on a cycle path then back home along another.

My real aim in going to South Shields (apart from the chips) was to get these then and now pictures of St Hilda's colliery. The then picture was from 1910 and probably shows one of the most striking different pictures between then and now I've taken.

The day started off lovely blue skies and very little wind. By the time this afternoon came and we wanted to go for a cycle ride it had clouded over and the wind had got up. Should have gone first thing yell

OH been busy manufacturing in his shed, he's also mended my windmill ornament for the garden. The terrible winds at the weekend blew it over and broke 2 of the sails. Now mended and going round like the clappers.

I've had a slow day today, making more masks, can't finish them as still waiting for more elastic. However I've managed to mark, cut out  and press a few ready to sew once it comes. The last of the ones already made were collected this afternoon. Still have 11 on order but had to put a note on the village FB to say I was out of elastic so not taking anymore until it comes.

So many folk wanting them so they can go back to work, all getting ready for the relaxation of restrictions come Thursday.

We had a lovely long chat with our youngest son today, we called him to wish our youngest granddaughter happy birthday (11) but she was to busy to talk to us, as she got a mobile phone from Mum and Dad and so was busy calling all her friends surprised guess we now know our place in her life laughing

Went for a walk this afternoon but needed a top on as it has gone a bit chilly. Hope tomorrow is better.

I had to laugh at this bit of your post Tammygirl.  I’m glad it’s not just us!!  Our grandchildren often seem ‘busy’ when we call, I think it’s payback for me as I remember doing similar things to my grandparents. 🥴😱

The second one had me scratching my head too, but obvious now.embarassed Definitely worth celebrating.

Lovely warm sunny day here too. Drove over the hill all of 1.5 mls for our walk this morning, around by Sandscale Haws onto the beach as the tide was well out. Flyte had a great run round on the sand. We saw perhaps 30 people all told on our 5+ ml walk, so social distancing was easily achieved. Spent the early part of the afternoon digging up more mares tails, before another gentle 3 mile or so stroll before dinner. It was still warm enough after that for a sit out in the sun reading for an hour..

Watched the ISS zoom across the sky just before 11pm, really bright. Amazing to think that when it winked out, as it entered earth shadow, it had almost reached overhead in Italy.

Earlier today cleaned out the guttering at the front of the house, it really needed doing. Then wiped it off, along with the plastic soffit boards, so they are nice and white again. Followed by a cleaning of the windows. My intention was to do the back as well. However the front of the house faces south and I was well cooked.😎 To much up and down the ladder.😂 Decided the back could wait until tomorrow.

Red hot here as well yesterday. Nice woodland dog walk, then back to garden for us. I have nearly every Rose in bud or full flower now, and it’s only May. Forecast for next ten days is good, warm, so I have redone our Summer pots and they are looking good.

We are still keeping to ourselves here, as are neighbours. Our only change is that we are now doing a short drive to find a less populated dog walk. It’s still very very quiet locally on the roads. The shops that are open seem less busy as well.

Today is again nice. So a walk as usual, then more gardening for me. Catch up with friends and family. 😁

No walk as yet for me as I've been chipping out broken and crumbling concrete that sit between our flags. Decided to wait until we got an overcast day, which it is today. My back is a bit like Steve's now. Will put the new concrete in tomorrow, I think. Need to take up a few of the flags as the Japanese Anemone have lifted some of them so need to get rid of the darned plants first.

Had to laugh after reading Martin Lewis's MSE email. There's an article which mentions inappropriate substitutions for online delivery items. One responder said the supplier subbed a Chicken for 6 Eggs. Dinner might be delayed whilst they grew.smile It was suggested by Tesco that instead of Gluten Free Breadcrumbs I could have Non GF Beef Gravy Stock instead and a friend had some After Shave replaced by a deodorant stick. Anymore?

Can't find which email it was in as I've "trashed" everything and losing the will to live going through them to try to find it so no link I'm afraid.

We have just finalised order for Thursday's delivery. We now think carefully about the lines that we allow subs on and untick the box if we don't want subs. Can't say we have had any daft substitutions although Cannellini beans which were ordered but we got Butter beans, I suppose they do look the same!!! We have had ordinary paracetamol tablets replaced by ones with caffeine in which we are supposed to avoid so had to give them away. Perhaps we need to pay a bit more attention when we get the list of subs on the day of delivery as they will refund them but won't take them back!!!

Some cracking substitutions there😂 I usually opt out of substitutes at the ordering stage for most things.

I used to supermarket shop online all the time when I was working, wasn’t prepared to give up half a day to the mindless in the trolley, out the trolley, back into the trolley, load the car, empty the car routine. But we evolved our shopping habits when we both left work, and of course the handsets make it so much quicker nowadays. But, we are in a nice shopping comfort zone at the moment, and we certainly won’t be going back to the supermarkets, it can come to us again. We aren’t into retail browsing at all, other than bike shops and plant nurseries. OH has daily parcels from bike shops all over country at the moment, and as long as I get a weekly fix at a nursery I am fine.

Lovely aprons Oneputt, I love the stripes, I recall those as sheets. Does that date me? 🤣

Was beautiful this morning very warm, clouded over now and feels a bit stormy. Watered with the hosepipe last evening for the 5th night in a row, not making any difference as plants are still wilting 😢 not been able to plant out my seedlings or geraniums yet.

Taking it easy today as energy levels are low so just essentials. Had a Tesco delivery arrived a little earlier, all wiped and stored. 14 bags for life for 50 items. 4 bags with one item each 3 with 2 each and 1 with 10 😂. So far no silly substitutes! Do recall 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue quoting cocktail sticks for tampons 😱.

Started sorting our Santander 123 accounts should have been done earlier but not easy in lockdown! Also want to simplify number of accounts etc, so started with my own account and if all goes well we'll do himself's next. That took so much time and energy I think that's where I lost the impetus 😱. Was able to incorporate the santander account into joint NW one on the phone, but with automated messages, button pressing, transferring etc it was 55 minutes!

Ordered new contact lenses, different folk from usual on the desk, another task not as simple as it was heyho!

Puppy seems to be settling well, I'm getting used to 5am starts 😱. Birds are being fed much earlier and starlings haven't caught up 😂 but rest of our birds have and getting a better share!

My brain has obviously been working subconsciously as I've come up with a plan for the legs on new bench whilst on the grass, haven't put our table and chairs out because of this. Mind you it's so dry I'm not sure itll be necessary 😀. But as you know Murphy's law is always ahead of you! So I've found the damp proof course roll, put the screwdriver on charge, another 1st for me. I need to find some screws - not plucked up the courage to search yet 😱😱.

We've had an Iceland order last week, and offers of more. Not having any trouble getting priority slots with Tesco, so hopefully things are really settling down. Only item missing today, again, disposable gloves they're there the night before but not on the shelf when my order is picked 😂

Discussion of Brideshead Revisited - it's currently on Radio4 extra 2 episodes so far so check it out on iPlayer if you're interested.

To be honest it works both ways, the neighbours had some top price meat substituted for their order and double the quantity. Also in the same order we had an expensive bottle of rose substituted for our "bargain" bottle. smile

Our farmshop is opening it's doors next week, we'll carry on with the deliveries for now.

On the Tesco site theres a place for notes for substitute things. We had frosted shreddies 🤮 substituted for frosties so I now qualify only frosties of any make.

I've found it works especially with my Lindt chocolate, if they dont have your 'flavour' you get none 😱 so I list them in order of preference if they need to substitute 🤣

We always tick the no Substitutions box. No exceptions. Can't trust anyone to know my needs.

Had an enjoyable walk and the plumber called to do a job. Only called him this morning so great service. Now £50 poorer but quite happy. That £50 has been siting in my wallet since early March.
