Bakers - Goldie you might be able to make a profit on flour 😉 several folk on here have had trouble with supplies. I'm ok with a decent stock, its icing sugar I have a surfeit of. Couldn't get any mentioned it to a couple of folk, both tracked it down so now I have more than I'm likely to need but it should keep!
Someone in our village WhatsApp group got hold of a 3 kg of icing sugar and was offering bags. I don't know how (luck?) but I have plenty of that as well (for now). What my husband misses are Magnums (or similar) from the freezer. I seem to have been remiss in not adding them to an online grocery order!

Hi all, it has been a while since I checked in, due to the lock down my days all seem very much the same, even the weather doesn't seem to change, warm dry and sunny. I have kept working through, the drivers have been out delivering essential food to supermarket distribution centre's along with medical supplies and foam for hospital mattresses so I have been kept busy on my own in my little office.
We have been following the progress of our pair of Blue tits over the lock down from nest building in our box back at the end of March, to finally fledging yesterday, of course I missed it due to being at work, but Trevor managed to get a few photo's and a bit of video. Posted a couple of the pictures of the last one just plucking up the courage to make the jump to freedom.
I am really going to miss watching them.
they have really helped me cope through the lock down. The other photo is of our resident hedgehog. Not been able to catch up with all the posts, but did see the photo of your new puppy Bakers, she looks adorable.

Good to hear from you helenandtrevor. Thanks to you and your drivers for keeping shops etc stocked. I'm most grateful.
Sad you missed the bluetits fledging but at least you saw photos. Lots of babies here all sorts of varieties.
Enjoy your 'free time'. It seems tough that those furloughed get 80% and I know of several being topped up to 100% whilst those working only get 100% and have to earn it 😲 plus pay commuting costs. Thus I feel for you. You'll get your reward - one day 😉 and meanwhile accept our thanks for your toil.
Our puppy is great isn't she? I'll try and post some more in sniffers diary thread.
Not read a post from milliehull in several days - hope she and hers are ok?

Have you looked by the cooker.
I'm saying that because OH lost both the main key and the spare on the same day this week due to fixing the battery in one of them. Total drama followed till he looked by the cooker!!
Hope you find them.Good to hear from you Helen and to hear you have been busy at work. Our little bluetits have fledged but they're around in the trees, it's quite noisy. The bird sounds and good weather have been quite a solace. You must be one of the few people who know which day of the week it is! Enjoy your weekend off!

Goldie I'm remembering them but they don't always come! I've had to take to hiding treats and things as in when the children were little 😀 otherwise they disappear and I miss out 😤. He can't/won't seem grasp shopping comes every 10 days or so and they have to last 😂. Tried Iceland's own when we had a deliver they were ok but not the real thing, I didnt hide my 2nd one 😉, mind you about a third of the magnum price.

As it happens I pulled the cooker out last night with the same thoughts.
At least its now clean back there! This is the second key I have lost in the same circumstance. Went shopping, locked car carried everything in placed shopping down then realised the keys were missing about 3 hours later, I have back tracked all I can remember doing, even walking the streets to my garage, but no luck so far.
looks like another visit to a locksmith on Monday and a few quid lighter!
Its still sunny though and my Enfield is looking good but needs a new ignition switch.....of all things!

We have had a difficult week here (thanks for asking Bakers2). Our beautiful little female cat (the real Millie) has been failing for quite a while but still happy and pottering but became very unwell at the weekend. We watched and nursed for a few days and then rang the vet. OH had quite a job bypassing the officious receptionist ('emergencies only'
) but eventually spoke to our lovely vet who told us to bring her in. Unfortunately it was the news we didn't want to hear - she had a tumour so we had to make the terrible decision. Holly, our vet, couldn't have been kinder and bypassed the rules to let us both be with her. She had been our gentle, sweet natured loving friend and companion for nearly 18 years and we are heartbroken. Her twin brother is a little lost soul at the moment but is getting lots of fuss and attention so hopefully time will heal. Our eldest grand-daughter arranged an online bingo session yesterday evening which was great fun and cheered me up. I really enjoyed it even though I didn't win. Daughter won both the first to get a full line and also the first to get a full house - fix!!
Good to hear from you Helen and Trevor. Such lovely photos of your bluetits. How lucky. They inspected our boxes but we didn't pass the grade unfortunately.
So sorry to hear of your difficult situation Robsail. I do feel for you. I am surprised that they cannot make safe arrangements to help you out, especially as the schools are gradually going back.
Belated happy birthday Tammygirl. It sounds like you had a good day.
Your puppy is so adorable Bakers2. Such a good idea to take her out in a backpack to get her used to the big outside world.

So sorry about your little cat Millie, it's so difficult to say goodbye even during better times.
The bingo session sounded good fun.
I've been putting some plants in but the sun has got too fierce so I'm inside. The dog has flaked out and OH is sorting out yet more fishing licences for club members. Better get some lunch!

We have a blue tit nest - inside a tipped over basket ball net stand. We've been watching the parents go in and out more and more frequently, and today a little head appeared at the entrance. They won't venture out, maybe because of Queenie the cat keeping an eye out. Wrath will descend if she nabs one.
A poor photo.

Good afternoon folks. Nice to hear from Helen and Millie as well. 18 years? No wonder you are heartbroken M but just think of all those glorious memories and I'm sure that Millie would be thinking the same.
We've been watching the baby Blue Tits as well. The noise is amazing in the Silver Birch trees at the bottom of the garden. Had to chase the Magpies and Crows away a few times but eventually they'll have to look after themselves.
Magnums?? Yes please. In fact we had one today as we called into a village shop halfway around a walk that we had this morning. Lovely quiet lanes and roads for a 3 hour walk. 2 Dogwalkers, 3 Cyclists and a couple of cars. When crossing the road into the village we saw a Police car pulling over a motorist. They were still having a long chat when we exited the village, eating our Magnums and she was writing a nice ticket for him. Magnums were lovely🍦
Bakers - I will be doing it myself. The ladder has been told off and anyway I didn't fall off the thing just over it so I might get Mrs.WN to put it in place.

Robsail - I saw an article in local council website asking for "Micro Carers". Those people who could offer respite for just 1 or 2 specific households. Any chance there's something like that in your area. Good luck.

OH milliehull I'm so sad to read your news. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Vet trips aren't easy at the mo and I'm delighted your vet used her common sense so you could be with her. Never ever easy 😢
Yes I thought as well we get our puppy acclimatised as soon as possible as there wont be puppy parties run by our vets or training classes for her to join in. Our vet, new young lady to us, but lovely, reckons there could well be lots of behavioural issues coming soon. We had to have a conversation, by phone in the car park, before vet came to collect Dora at the door, I put down stood back, she walked forward and picked up pet carrier - shell out grow that pretty quickly so hope it'll last until she can walk on 'dirty' ground 😱. I'd like to walk her in her backpack, it's only round the corner but too dicey to social distance! And 3kg in a pet carrier appears much more! Our grand dog loves the vets and even though it's not been her vets for 5 years or so will look to go up the drive if we pass. Wanted this relationship with Dora, and I think we could well get it as she's pretty laid back but it's nice to reassure them. At least they are spaying now so we should be ok when the time comes!
Wherenext I think you'll need supervision - and I don't mean the eyesight sort!!
Robsail my friend's brother has live in carers who swop alternative weeks, he's passed 65 now but damaged at birth and luckily its continued. Should one of them go down with it it'll be her to stand in. I hope you can get some assistance, however little, that you're comfortable with.

forgot to mention, my portable satellite kit turned up from Satgear,
It comes with 4 mounting options, sucker for roof/horizontal mounting, table top mount, pole mount and sucker for vertical mount, I set it up in the back garden for testing and connected to main TV, I tried aligning it but couldn't get a picture or signal, got a bit frustrating to be honest.
OH lent me her Smart phone so downloaded an app which gave exact instructions etc. 30 seconds later and voila a perfect signal

At least OH will be happy as she can watch her soaps when away in the MH if there is no aerial socket on the bollard..
maybe I should get myself one of these smart phones...…..

Only get a smart phone if you want to join 21st century. Might even come in handy for track and trace! I'd give it much thought 1st, the government may offer you a free one! Possibly done a deal as part of 5g with an Asian country 😉. Yep defo keep your hand in your pocket, one between two is adequate!

Another day of "too hot to do anything" weather, just thinking we could go and sit in the caravan with the air con on, would be cooler than in the house!
Had to give up on the hedge trimming as the carburettor on my little machine is not in a good state, now looking to see if I can get a new part .
Cut some more branches that I could reach with the loppers, then put the caravan back in place. A little tidying inside in the afternoon, but now resting my sore back.
FaceTime with Mummy and Callum, he is enjoying his paddling pool and making good use of his uncle's old toys we brought out of our loft, particularly a tipper truck and a Tonka double ended digger.
We are planning a small BBQ for dinner, not so much fun when only the two of us, we have lamb and apricot burgers, some asparagus and red peppers on the side, might do some potato slices too, and a nice bottle of white. Pineapple and ice cream, with chocolate sauce, for afters.
Best news of the day is that our garden waste collection will finally resume this coming week.

Noooo! Nobody gets to share my smartphone. It’s precious and mine, all mine. 😂😂😂😂

We have just had dinner on the BBQ too KJ was lovely. Been a lovely day here today hotter than yesterday we popped down to my sisters this morning and had a couple of hours with them out in their garden. Since we got home we haven’t done much just Sat out the back garden enjoying the weather caught up with two Practical Caravan Mags I have had lying around for about 2 months still in the wrapper. I must say they were two of the best editors I have read for a while I’m thinking there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with regard to getting away in the van in the not too distant future so nice to read and plan places to visit.

Yes, the BBQ was excellent. We had the potatoes, first microwaved then cut in slices and browned on the grill.
This is an Aldi electric grill/BBQ, we have given our fairly new big gas BBQ to DD as we were not using it much, and said we expect regular invites to a weekend BBQ. Sadly not an option right now.
Just letting the first course go down before tackling the ice cream etc

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments. I am sure that a number of you on here have been through the same with their much loved pets. Yes we have some lovely memories of Millie so onwards and upwards and keeping busy is the best morale booster. Not easy under the current conditions but we are managing. We did quite a bit of gardening until it got too warm. We thought we might visit a garden centre this morning but changed our minds when we saw the queues (!!) so came home again. Apparently the car parks at Ferry Meadows have been closed again because of he crowds
. Your BBQ sounds wonderful Kj. Our youngest son and his family rang us this afternoon to tell us that they were having a BBQ. They had just finished their first course and were then going to put some marshmallows on the BBQ. Your comments about socialising Dora are interesting Bakers2. I had been saying to eldest grand-daughter the other day the same thing about our nearly 5 month old great grandson. Since the end of February he has only been with his Mummy and Daddy apart from a very few social distanced visits to family. He is going to find it very strange when we are allowed to socialise properly an give him a cuddle. I think we are all going to have to take it very slowly.
Take care with that ladder WN

Goldie, I don't know if you ever go into Iceland, but they do their own equivalent to Magnums, in both White and Belgium Chocolate, in boxes of 4 for £1, which we think is a real bargain.

Good to hear from Helen and Millie, although very sorry to hear the sad news about the cat.
Rodsail, hope that you all manage to stick it out safely, and are able to get out and about in the not too distant future.
