Good to read others news.
On the insurance front I've decided 1st year, just in case, and unless there's anything untoward that'll be it. Like you milliehull we've never insured our cats, a hit and run broken pelvis, and growth on an ear were expensive at the time, especially as 2 children one wage, but our rainy day money covered it and could slowly be trickled back. The benefits of a credit card, Access I think in those days 😉, delayed it for another few weeks.
Milliehull I bet you did see a vast change in your great grandson - must have been a tough task not to hug him 😢😢. And yes is knocking heads together sufficient? 😤😤
Mad morning here, made chocolate brownies and cup cakes - great recipe KjNelln best I've ever made 😀 both made and iced by 8am 🤣🤣
My brother and SIL called in after checking in mums and grass cutting, grave watering 😂, planned, he bought me 2 beefsteak tomato plants and asked if I would like a butternut squash plant, yes I said. There were 4 in the pot. He reattached out weather vane and finial to the apex of the shed, apparently the wood is soft, so will need replacing and probably the reason it blew down. I do miss a man who could 😢.
Whilst they were here, knew it would be a flying visit the guy came to check the conservatory roof, supposed to be early afternoon 2.30 onwards 😱. We had moisture inbetween the layers - could I find the photo? No! Could I find the email with said photo? No! Of course its dried now and anyway today is the first day we've pulled the blinds back on the roof and windows! He did some resealing and now we wait to see.
He left brother left very soon after but not before I'd got him to remove a screw on a handle I want to change that neither I nor OH could shift.
Mad planting, first find big enough pots 😱. So very late lunch. Now letting it go down but I can feel the odd spot so must just finish tidying up plants, plenty to keep me occupied inside if we get the forecast wet stuff. Grey, warm a tad muggy, here but rain will be welcome. Agree with Wherenext it would/will be so much harder if we can't get outside.
ADD46 I know what you mean about creative presents, my aunt and uncle celebrate their diamond wedding wedding anniversary in the 25th, I was the young bridesmaid 😀. Sadly my granddaughters won't be here to wear my dress 😢 even assuming freedom to mix 😉, as my daughter did on their 30th as she was the same age and right size! Because we have no idea of what can/cant happened I've ordered a gift card for posh afternoon tea to be delivered to them when they choose and a floral arrangement from a local lady round the corner who I discovered because of lockdown. It's an ill wind...........
Damp spots have stopped but must crack on!

Brue madness 😱. You really couldnt make it up! Yet there they stand and tell you they have the capacity........ 😤. Drink and brewery spring to mind!
More or Less radio4 was interesting again this morning on the subject. When they have analysed what's out there I can completely understand the ONS guy was making his point. That is of course if the figures they obtained are correct 😉. Similarly over number of deaths. 😤😢Still think there's lots of material for study for years to come.
Tidied pots of plants, gave everything another good soaking - the pots were really light and dry and yet I soaked them last evening and the every evening recently. Well I think I did 😂😂.
Sitting in the garden again now, still warm but slightly fresher and a slight breeze still a very odd damp spot.
Found home for the 2 surplus to requirements, butternut squash plants, all's right with my world for the mo.

I was looking forward to some rain too, but apart from the ground being slightly damp first thing this morning, its been dry so far if a bit overcast and cooler. The rose bush has some new buds as the first 2 flowers are starting to lose petals.
A couple of bits came through the mail, a new Satnav for the MH, I went for the Aguri 720 with dashcam, quite impressed with it as it acts like tablet as well, also Tile key finders, another impressive gadget that you can ping with your phone to find lost keys or use the Tile to ping your phone if you lose that! works by Bluetooth but if out of range the app records last contact position of the Tile. hopefully won't lose the car keys again!
The new ignition switch turned up for my Royal Enfield as well, so used the lack of rain as an opportunity to fit it.
.All back up and running now, where has that sun gone, I need to take the Bullet for a cruise....1 -
Just had a thunderstorm here and 6.3mm of rain just what the ground needs, it did knock the electric out but soon restored, our friends who live near the Cele river had a huge storm on Monday evening and water running down their drive and garden at least all their water containers are all full and we only had about 1.3 mm rain then.
OH liked the motorbike rajohno used to have a BSA bantam and it ended up going to New Zealand and the man who bought it used to live in our village in Somerset many years ago.
Take care brue and hope you can get a test.

Good to hear you got good cupcakes B2, DD uses that recipe all the time and gets a lot of praise for her cakes! She makes wedding and birthday cakes, for far too little money, for her friends and work colleagues, always using ghe same recipe, it has never failed yet.
Today we delivered stuff to DD and picked up stuff she had for us, then had a 30 minute chat while she ate her lunch, she on the back doorstep, we on our camping chairs on the driveway.
Just before we left, Callum woke from his nap, so we got to see how tall he has grown and have a little chat. He had lots to tell us, but did not seem at all upset that he could not come and hug us, so that was good.
Maybe we will be allowed to visit again and sit in the garden. He was very enthusiastic at waving goodbye, and throwing us kisses.
On the way home we stopped off at M&S to buy a treat for lunch, and a few bits that are now in the freezer.

None of the wet stuff here today but we did get a nice long slow soaking overnight.
Decided to tackle one of the holly bushes, (no nesting birds) I've let it get out of hand over the last 5 years so this morning it got cut down by almost half. The brown lidded bin is now full of it and it will get shredded when OH has time.
OH is making one part of the front garden into a driveway for the caravan to go in, he has made the gates
really nice job I have to admit. Today he started removing the fence that is currently there. He has had to secure our next door neighbours, as the chain link bit runs right across both properties. Big job will be to remove all the bushes that are growing in that area
I've made more masks today, I've had to work out another design as the material the person gave me was rather thin and flimsy but she wanted them made from it. Its lovely material but oh boy not easy to work with. Anyway now all done and I think they look great.
Tomorrow is shopping day so up and out early

We had rain over night but the pavement was dry when I went out just after 8:30, and no more rain during the day. In fact the sun came out in the late afternoon and it's still shining now. We could certainly do with another good downpour tonight..
The usual midmorning and afternoon walks, and then shopping this evening. No queues for us, except at the tills, however there was a queue of about 50 cars snaking round the car park waiting to get served at the McDonald's drive through!!!

We had a good long chat with our daughter last evening, and she's all ready for their shops to open. In fact they've had people banging on the doors thinking that they've opened already, having seen lights and people working inside, and many phone calls asking about them opening. They will be limiting numbers into the shops, and restricting access to certain areas, and no unaccompanied 16yr olds or under. I think that she is looking forward to the experience as she may be the one on the door!!

Brue
Might be an idea to email your MP re the lack of a test?

Had our first hiccup with Waitrose online today as we tried to amend tomorrows delivery (normally permissible up to midday) Website kept going off line, sounds familiar!!! So we won't be getting the half dozen extra items we added today. We always do our main amendment two days before delivery and not had problems before! Was concerned at one stage we had lost the lot!!!

I had thought of that but our local MP is a dyed in the wool something or other and during the recent "debacle" gave his full support to the decisions made...he was probably up all night reading emails to the contrary but wasn't swayed!

On second thoughts I might give it a try but fear I'll get a standard response about how well things are going or try booking a test in Exeter...have a nice day out?! (Apparently people get through to some of the test centre bookings but don't get appointments.) The mantra appears to be "we are very busy" no more tests available in your area.
I had no idea I'd be trying to book a test so this has been an eye opener.
I hope I get better soon.

When questioned on the subject of the number of tests today at PMQ's boris was categorical tapping the despatch telling us they were available 🤔🤔
Hopefully if you're feeling up to booking the test and contemplating contacting your MP theres plenty of hope for you 😉. Hopefully a good night's sleep will assist.

We had a treat last night - FISH and CHIPS! From a proper Chip Shop.
A few chip shops have been opening with reduced days and hours - order/pay by phone or online, and collect at designated time slot. I was supposed to be cooking scrambled eggs for supper, but on the off chance rang the chip shop - yes a slot available!
We don't get chips very often (maybe every couple of months if we've been onto town to Currys etc in the evening), but somehow was missing them (because we couldn't have them).
They were wonderful , and best of all - no washing up! Eat with fingers out of the packaging.
Sometimes it feels as if my days are like that line in The Love Song of Alfred J Prufrock by T.S. Elliot -
"Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;"My days are measured out by pots and pans.

We did the same last Friday. Same sort of process except that when we got there the card reader had broken and we had to pay cash, just as well we had taken some!!! Can't remember the last time I used cash, certainly more than three months ago! We did take them home to eat but I suspect that was a much shorter distance than you had to go Goldie?

Our local chippy never closed but they have introduced new measures such as having only 2 people in the shop at a time so there is often a que outside especially on a Friday and Saturday night also they have a Perspex screen up at the counter. We have only been 2-3 times since this all started but you are right it’s nice to have a treat now and again.

We have had F&C twice now. Phone, order, pay, pick up. Very well organised. It did feel a real treat😋

Managed to get a walk in this morning and just got back before some rain arrived.
We passed our closed local but it had a sign up outside saying they were going to start a Takeaway service from this Weekend. They are going to do a restricted menu but the good news is that the 6 Main course dishes are all Wheat Free so I could be joining you in the Fish and Chip suppers soon. It's one of the main things I miss when away in the caravan. I can sometimes find somewhere if I'm lucky but 9/10 I can't. I can also trust the local as I've been using it for years now, mainly as a treat. The only problem I have is they use local Beers and guest ones and once again I find that the allergy stops me having a pint of best. GF Beers just don't cut the mustard. They do serve other things that I can drink and it's not the end of the world if I can't.
Hope Brue got her test or feels miles better now.

Just 4 miles each way - still hot when we got home.
Our last meal out was 8th February (and I didn't enjoy it!). We cancelled going out mid March, as by then we didn't feel comfortable being in crowded places. I can't imagine how restaurants will cope with the spacing restrictions. We'll wait and see for a long time yet.

Our local pub has been doing a Takeaway menu for a few weeks now. We have had their roast dinner a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I was concerned how a roast dinner would be dealt with but was pleasantly surprised - and it was SO nice not to have to cook one!

"SO nice not to have to cook one!"
Exactly what I'm hoping for Heddlo. I'm the cook in the house, self preservation reasons mainly, and our shopping habits have changed. BC (Before Covid) we used to shop on a 3 day eating cycle as I always like to cook fresh ingredients when at home. Now we are on a 7 or 8 day cycle I'm frazzled trying to keep a weeks menu going. Quite often we used to just wing it and buy whatever we fancied for that night but now I feel like I'm stuck in a rut trying to keep the meals varied and seasonal. So a nice Takeaway would be like a present at the moment, and even better is that MiL has volunteered to pay as a thank you. Probably leave it though for a week to let the rush die down.
Had to drop something off in town at lunchtime. McDs opened today. The queues were horrendous!
We won't be able to tell how busy Aldi is now as they share the same car park.1
