Had a splendid drive out this morning, got a few amps into the starter motor's battery. Not being naughty, honest, it was just  a trip out to stock the larder again but got myself some exercise.  Well  the Bird food I ordered this w/end turned up while I was out, so "Birds Larder" also got stocked  laughing. Lots of tweeting going on so I assume the current weather is good news for the nesters but I'm having to clean and then top up the bird baths every day at present so I assume they can tolerate Chlorinated tap water ok.

Take care, stay safe please  sealed

    A trip out this morning!

A 5 mile round trip (by car - I'm not that fit!) to pick up some medication from the doctors on the edge of town. Then we called in at a wholesaler near the station, who has opened to the public. We were running low on bananas (OH has one every morning as he walks down the yard to the milking parlour), so now restocked. Plus some plain and SR flour (he has split up his big sacks into kilos). I've plenty of bread flour, but would have had to go careful on baking and puddings.

Both places "one in one out" and short (2 persons) queues.

All sorted with food now for a few weeks. Till the bananas run low again.

Off to make some meringues now. A treat to take with us on our weekend away.

I posted the time, it was correct and I saw nothing either frown

Apparently after much anger from astronomers, Musks satellites solar panels were turned slightly to remove the suns reflection to earth, therefore no sighting of those particular ones.

    Topsy turvy day today.

Got up and after a shower started painting one of several inside doors we have that need a new lick of paint. Why did we buy ones with lots of grooves in?

Mrs WN and MiL went for a stroll around the village. MiL very pleased and asked if I was doing more painting tomorrow? Yep and for a few more days. She's delighted.smile Glad someone is.

Then after lunch went for a stroll myself in the hazy sunshine.

    Enjoyed the piccies CS.

Ah, now I understand rather better than I did last night --  the solar panels on these mini sats are actually reflecting sunlight and thats why we could see 'em --  pity we were not told before they used the remote control to turn them round a bit cool

Sorry Millie only just seen this I've been out in the garden all morning.

I decided not to put a lining in, as reading on another site they said the more layers you add the more difficult it can be to breath easy.

If you wish to add a lining, again on one site they said that just a piece of kitchen roll or a piece of J cloth type material is fine. Remove once home, wash mask and then replace with another 'liner' for next outing.

I've made us and rest of family 2 masks each (waiting on elastic to finish them) we both were glasses and find that inside a building your glasses can steam up a bit if you have the mask to high on your nose. Outside though they seem to be ok.

I'm hoping that we don't have to get into the habit of wearing them as they do in parts of Asia but if we have to do so for a short while at least we will be prepared. Could play havoc with my tan thoughlaughinglaughinglaughing

Before they make the final decision wearing masks I hope they do tests and get loads of accurate, up to date information on mask type and efficacy when the wearer has a moustache and/or a beard. Dammit I have already been known to start growing small apple pips in mine  embarassed

We managed to see one and whilst I was looking that way OH spotted Lyrid meteor behind us! We were also supposed to catch a glimpse of the latest sattelite launch rocket. I can see why astronomers are getting fed up with too much "junk" in the sky.

TG I'm hoping we don't have to make face masks, especially in warm weather, they feel suffocating. So I haven't attempted to make any yet and would rather wear on of those stretchy neck scarves that can be pulled up double over a nose and mouth.

I've had a nice break in the garden, doing nothing. I noticed a neighbour's cat going along the adjoining footpath complete with lifeless bunny in it's mouth, I thought they're going to love him when he gets home with that trophy. 🐰

We went out for a look see. Think we might have seen 3? Certainly in a straight line if it wasn't them. We assumed bit of cloud obscuring the rest? Who knows? Miss being with friends hubby, he knows his way round the night sky! Upside was we saw shooting stars/meteors. Had to wait for our security lights to go out and then  it move 🀣 and we live in a town. Could see lots of stars but not as many as when the street lights go off at 1am πŸ˜€.

Blackbird distraught, magpie raided its nest 😒😒.

Brue maybe the bunny wont make it indoors πŸ€”πŸ˜―

Trying to read but cant actually settle to it, good book so it's me! Remembered I found the ice lolly moulds when I tidied kitchen - dug them out and made some fresh orange ones hmmmm nice.

Not just you when it comes to reading at the moment, B! Normally I can read for a couple of hours at a time especially when we're away (or locked down wink) but at the moment I find it hard to get into anything. Might be because with the library closed I've been working through the backlog on my kindle. It's just not the same as a real book, I find.

I'm like that. The only thing I really lose myself in is gardening and that's primped to within an inch of its life 🀣.

Put the new bench together doesn't stand level anywhere in the garden. Measured the length of the legs they seem within a smidgeon. Asked my brother, no good asking OH these days 😒. He got technical, I had to ask dumb blonde questions, well dark now highlights are fading 🀣🀣. Did find set square all appears ok. Emailed with photo, I have a piece of clay flower pot under front right leg. Our existing bench stands level wherever. Even marked the leg positions to ensure same position! This bench about 2 inches longer than new one. Not amused as it wasn't cheap. Well that fiver cheaper than the garden centre.

Must finish the watering OH given up before last bed done 😒

B2, re an earlier post, I must have missed the arrival of a dog in your life, what sort is it? I hope everything goes well even if the family have to do the first bit of puppy love!

    More saucepan banging tonight?

My cousin in Canada and a friend in London say they all have a social drink outside with the neighbours (suitably apart) but some of our neighbours have never joined in so we're a bit disjointed along our street. Anyway another nice evening to stand outside and say a noisy thankyou. smile 🎺🎺🎺

We have no choice Brue, not that we would not choose to go and clap, but we have 2 not long retired Nurses living nearby. One sends a rocket up and the other comes outside with a whistle, and believe me, you would not want to get on the wrong side of either. We occupy a corner plot in an L shaped cul-de-sac and last week we were accosted by one of the Valkyre asking, no demanding, why we weren't outside. We explained we were around the other side of the house, a blind side for her. We were only just spared! We've decided to split our appreciation tonight.😁

Brue yes we are expecting a puppy, cockerpoo - been trying for a rescue dog for ages, but unless there's a sad reason for them needing a home, like illness or death 😒. They seem to come with problems, BIG problems in some cases, guarding, fighting and some that bite 😱. Son not to mention us reckoned they'd be as hard work as a puppy! Friend of DIL's mum's dog had puppies, we were offered a puppy late last year from the friend's dog. Resisted, by DIL sent photo of these pups as new borns, cruel thing to do!

Expressed an interest, know the puppies parents etc via DIL. Much thought given and no pressure from dog owner we have said yes. They're 4 weeks old today and just had their first real food. Choosing will be by watching videos - we get plenty but 3 of the 5 are hard for owner to identify individually 2 boys and one girl, one girl quite small and the other girl a bit different but all same red colour. She has a waiting list so glad we got in early - I think πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. We'll have a girl.

We're too defined around here for saucepan banging, but I might lower the tone tonight 🀣. There's talk about a front garden street party for VE Day here, decorating red white and blue too.

Seems like star link is on again tonight same time.

So much excitement for one evening!

Wherenext I was too late to edit!

We've been asked to refrain from fireworks, not that we do, locally as it causes animal stress and key workers are having to deal with stressed pets on top of everything else.

    Worth running past your neighbours???

It's only the one rocket B2 and that at 8 on the dot. Like an alarm clock going off.

Nearly missed it tonight. I was outside watering the garden and didn't hear anything as Rocket lady misfired. Only when Mrs WN poked her head into the garden did she realise I was singing so couldn't hear anything. I must have thought the clapping was for me.laughing

Good luck with the pending new arrival B2 and you are right, rescues can be a risk, I,m lucky to have a good one right now.smile

If I can give you any advice it would be to lay down the ground rules from day one, otherwise the dog trains you instead of the other way round.undecided

Having said that, just looking into their eyes sends the best plans out of the window.laughing

It’s absolutely stunning close up isn’t it? We stopped off heading South coming back from a Hadrians Wall Tour, and had a good look around. It’s time they cut back some of the trees a bit, not such a good view heading North as it used to be. I would have loved seeing it in the Shearer No9 shirt!😁

Thanks for the info TG.  I will have to experiment and see how it goes. Wearing a mask doesn't sound like a pleasant experience.  I really feel for the NHS staff having to wear full PPE gear.  If we do  have to wear masks I would prefer to make my own.

Good news about your puppy Bakers2.  I am sure you will have a lot of fun. Your life is certainly going to be different.  Looking forward to hearing all about her and seeing some photos when she does arrive at yours.
