Better get on with my day, the floors need a clean ! wink

Again, brue ?? surprised,  you will wear them out if you carry on 'til isolation rules end  sealed

I've just printed off an e-mail that shews some of the hilarious items being worn in U.S. of A supermarkets - they should raise a giggle or three amongst my neighbours smile

I've just been watching the programme about Eliud Kipchoge's sub 2 hour marathon run. It would have been the London Marathon tomorrow and I feel really sad for all those folk who had been training so hard throughout the winter. But this was an inspiring reminder of the human race's ability to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles - very timely in the present situation.  smile

I removed my post as Steve had mentioned donating to other groups, which was the point of my post.

Tammy, have you been to El Rocio before? Fascinating place.

An early walk for us before I got stuck into some painting of doors. I'm in no rush to finish them. Why would I be as I'm not going anywhere?

We have just had a delivery of coffee whitener, and have swapped that for fruit pouches for Callum and 4 jigsaw puzzles......2 for the adults and 2 for Callum.

We had a box packed up for DD, kitchen stuff of hers, but she refused to have it until she gets on top of tidying the house and going through all the other boxes we have sent!

OH has set a 2 week deadline for it being removed.

Not up to the last gutter today, my arms are still  too sore, so just doing the shredding instead.

Shouldn't the car be on the non door side of the van though, given that it looks a big enough pitch!  wink

The last time I spent a night or two that close to running water, on a CL in Keswick, I spent more time during the night on the toilet than I did in bed!smile

Looks just about as perfect a photo as you could wish for Goldie.

Shredding done, and spread as mulch up in the garden.  Now I have to put back all the stuff I had to drag out of the shed to get to the shredder.

Lovely warm sunny day here today. Not done much spent most of the day in the conservatory reading its amazing how many mags I have managed to get through recently had about 3 copies of Practical Caravan sitting read all them and the CC club mags and a few cycling ones they were all just sitting in a pile and over the past week that’s them all read cover to cover. Sitting up in the summer house out the back garden got the BBQ on with the steak burgers sizzling away just about to open a beer.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend.

Don't often sit down with a glass of wine, but we were outside tonight, enjoying a glass of rose courtesy of Waitrose, one of those upgrades due to the original not being in stock. So we were remarking that we don't often choose something expensive, then I threw a toy penguin for the dog and knocked the whole lot over...yell 🐕

Anyway, it's not been too bad today, managed a chat with some neighbours from a distance and met some more locals on a walk. Made some cheese scones and sorted out a few more plants.

Good to hear what you've all been up to, Goldie wins the prize this weekend! wink

Dug out another load of weeds and moss from the driveway. Just have to move OH's car and do the last bit. I have scrubbed some of the area with a stiff yard broom to loosen the grime. Perhaps finish that on Monday and give the whole lot a quick squirt with the pressure washer. It's hard work, this lockdown business.

Goldie ..... I’m totally jealous, but hope you enjoy your weekend 😊🍹. Have you taken enough gin?

We drove to my office this morning to get my office chair. I’ve given up trying to use the dining room chairs. Just not comfortable to sit on for seven hours a day. OH helped me to lift it into the car. You don’t realise how heavy they are until circumstances like this happen.
We’ve had a lovely meal this evening made from the farm shop delivery. I made a spaghetti bolognese which turned out to the best one ever. It must have been a combination of the good farm shop mince and the glass of Prosecco whilst cooking it. 😊

brue, the face shields that the Men's shed are/have been making are not the cloth face masks (I've made them for the family and friends).

The Men's shed have made the full visor type face shields that fit over face masks and goggles/glasses. Its a band that fits around the top of the head with an acetate sheet attached to it, it covers from forehead to just below the chin, from side to side of the face, so fully protected against vapour droplets. They use them on the Covid wards and in ICU, we had also heard that Paramedics would like them as they are the first point of contact in many cases.

Steve, Moulesy, heddlo, thanks for your comments, its frustrating to think that some are holding back because they are afraid of missing out from other avenues.   The Men's shed are not the only ones who have made a great effort to make these items, I'm sure there are many who are feeling a bit miffed just now. They will keep them just in case there is another appeal for them.

Snap, OH has done 2 days of shredding so I've got 2 big bags full ready to spread once the ground has had a good soaking. Our shredder lives in the greenhouse, right in the very back corner OH had to fight to get it out laughing

Goldie,  very jealous, but hope you have a lovely weekend.

Brue, like you, we were enjoying sitting out in the garden the other night, OH left his tablet on the chair went inside,  came back sat down, then realised he had sat on his tablet,  broke the screen!! surprised

Day started off a bit cloudy but cleared by lunchtime and then another lovely day. Only did a few jobs this morning, went for a walk round the estate this afternoon, and then sat out in the garden. I am missing the bbq which is still in the caravan.

Bakers,  nice picture of your Hedgehog,  we seem to have 3 at the moment and according to our neighbour a couple of them were getting very amorous the other night, very noisy apparently. embarassed

The day started very grey and chilly thought we were in for an indoors day. How wrong we have had a great day once the sun came out to play.

Went to get a few bits and bobs from Asda this morning (I know I said I wouldn't go back there) big sis wanted stuff from there so I kindly obliged (aren't I good) while there I noticed they had some flour in so gave her a quick call, yes please 2 bags smile

I managed to pick up some plants for the garden and some for my hanging mangers. Haven't done any for years as we are usually away. Got them planted up this afternoon now sat in the greenhouse with the door slightly ajar. Cleared the back deck and gave it a good clean, brought round some of the pots and containers from the side of the house, back of house now warm enough for them. smile

Another BBQ for dinner tonight this time Lamb chops Mmmm they smelt and tasted lovely.

BIL had some great news this week, his scans are both clear, the oncologist is very happy that the chemo has done its work smile great news as it was his 75th birthday yesterday. More scans in 3 months time so fingers crossed for him it stays that way.

Just popped outside here to see if the sky had cleared over after a lot of dark and heavy clouds earlier to see the Starlink satellites go over all of 40 of them got OH to see them as well what a sight and then 1 satellite go over on its own also a lovely new moon with Venus above it great end to  a very warm day 29.5C on weather station phew.

Did our 1 hour walk via the poubelles and down by the local Lavoir to spot a small grass snake in the water after the small fish, it was very hot so glad to get back for a cold drink.

Having a break in the caravan again but only 20 metres from our front door so not as far as Goldie but a different view across the garden but we did have a heavy storm last night just before we went to the caravan yuk but it did stop after about 10 minutes, thought we were going to have more again tonight it is in the forecast for Sunday and Monday we really need it and today I have sown a lot of wildflower seeds on a patch of ground which took awhile to clear near the kitchen window so hopefully should look good  in a few months 6x3 metres so a good size.

    Take care folks.

Hopefully we should know more on Tuesday as to relaxing the regulations of the lockdown but it seems it will be gradually not all at the same time.

We have the caravan on the driveway, but unfortunately it is quite sloping, so the bed is lower at the head than the deer, which is not good, otherwise we could holiday there.

However, the view would not be any better, worse in fact as we live upstairs and have great views over the city.

That is great news TG, hope it continues.

Like you, the day started dull, but soon brightened up, and we have had a very good day on the solar panels.

Spoke on Skype with Callum, he has grown a lot in the last 5 weeks, we are missing him a lot, and missing so much of his growing up, really sad.

Spoke to sons of two neighbours yesterday (at a distance👍) they are both turning out the visors using 3D printers for the headbands and then attaching the shields. They are going to our local NHS, one of them is son of an Anaesthetist at our local hospital. He said I can have a couple of the not quite up to NHS standard if I want, so that will be good for Mum once she can get out a little bit more, and for my OH. Good to hear your BIL has come through the chemo well TG.

I have actually had a lovely productive day today. Thought it might be a tad cool and overcast when I peered out at 6am this morning, but by 9am, it was gloriously sunny, and has been very warm all day, so I spent all day outside. Re stained our wooden garden gate, a job that has been on my list for the last couple of years. And then hit another patch of garden that needed a hands and knees careful weed. Half done, wasn’t quite the horrible job I thought it would be, tied up our raspberry canes, cleaned out the pond fountain, stirred up the tadpoles, took the pooch for his evening walk, and then enjoyed a lovely baked sweet potato and salad from our veg box!

Everything’s going well in the middle of nowhere. The battery and gas holding up.

On Friday night we cooked outside then came in and watched a Show of Hands concert, from the Minack theatre, on my IPad.

Last night when it went cool we came in and watched an old episode of Silent Witness that I had downloaded to the IPad.

Photos from Friday night looking towards the Helm. And this morning, looking out of the window towards Manchester Waterworks valve house. Built c 1875.

P.S. Plenty of gin and wine left.

And we can stay after midday!

Great pictures, Goldie - glad you're enjoying your weekend "away"! smile

Last night we had fireworks from across the way at about 10 o'clock! yell According to the local FB group (which had lots of, let's say, less than complimentary comments) it was a family 50th birthday gathering. Difficult to understand some folks' thinking right now.

Mrs M's turn with the dogs this morning, I'll be on the afternoon shift. Looks like it might be the last really warm dry day for a while. Took the opportunity to get another loaf on the go - it'll be finished in 10 minutes or so and smells delicious! smile
