Just an update, the next door neighbour came home this morning and speaking to his wife she is obviously very pleased to have him back but was not impressed by some of his care. Apparently yesterday afternoon while he was recovering in a small ward of just four patients, he was suddenly approached by two staff in full PPE who said they were going to move him. He asked where to and they said to the Covid 19 ward. While out in the corridor he protested he didn’t want to go but they said he must as he had not been tested, but he said I have been tested when I was first admitted I’m not going to that ward stop and check he insisted. One of them eventually went to check and apparently they were taking the wrong patient. He was taken back to the ward but says he received no apology for the mix-up.
I am a big supporter of the NHS and they are under great strain at the moment but this could have been a life threatening situation for a man with his heart condition.
Sorry for the uncharacteristic gloomy post.

And so am I neveramsure, but I had a similar experience a few years ago when I was taken to hospital by ambulance after an accident felling a tree. I am allergic to codeine - having once had a frightening anaphylactic reaction to it. It was on my notes and I was wearing a red ID band, indicating an allergy. A Doctor came into the cubicle with a syringe and was about to stick it in me until I asked him what it was. "Co-codamol", said he "for the pain". "No thank you", said I (or something like that), "haven't you read my notes?" It was a good job I was fully conscious, otherwise I probably wouldn't be writing this now

Long, long time ago now, but I had to have my right shoulder pinned and all associated tendony bits put back together (bloody horse🤬) and back in those days surgeon came around and drew on the bit to be sorted. He got a bit stroppy when I stopped him drawing a nice long black line in felt tip on my LEFT shoulder😱 This was back in days when smoking was still allowed on wards, you just can’t imagine it nowadays can you. As soon as I came round from anaesthetic I was off out of bed ASAP, old dear next bed puffed away like some kind of oven,😱

Smoking on a hospital ward does sound unbelievable now TDA.
I thought the walls were painted brown back then but maybe they were just smoke stained.

Neveramsure glad your neighbour back home. You really do need your wits about you, or someone looking at for you, if you're in hospital. Even before these great pressures, they were hard pressed!
As I know from last year when OH was hospitalized for months. Great service and care at specialist heart and thoracic centre, not a step wrong. Can't say the same of our local hospital where he went from and returned too. He was awaiting transfer on return to local hospital from heart ward to stroke ward. Lots of false starts it was suppose to happen soon after I left at 8pm once porter free. I rang next morning, to find out visiting times on new ward and see how he'd been overnight, delusions after intensive care as well as stroke. Told he was fine, had a headache in the morning - I questioned this as not something he usually has. Arrived at visiting time, no he's not here but...... I tracked him down as they couldnt! He hadn't been moved 😱, but lost to hospital records! Thank goodness there wasnt a fire or roll call.......
Hadn't changed from my late mums last visit many years back. Ambulance in, history of stroke very poorly, next day told some sort of enchaphlitis. My brother rang later that day, get up here, why? They trying to discharge her. Where are you? In the grounds, if they cant find me they cant make me take her home! She was fine when discharged 5 days later and lived well for a further 9 years!
Still raining here, rather chilly, heating cutting in and coming on. Garden looking good, waterbutts full 😀.
OH wardrobe sorted, big cull but can't part with a shoe box full of floppy discs or computer CD's but much better stored.
Still not started in the masks - maybe tomorrow. I do have elastic and all I need to do them so just need time and inclination.
Still got low grade headache, earache etc from this morning, did start coughing, but gave myself a good talking too 😂😂🤣. Still have smell and taste!
EDIT just had a phone call from the club! To see if we received membership renewal? That's despite sendingcancelling email and stopping DD. No point as we don't have motorhome at the mo! Tough times??

It's been a decent day here today, sun out for most of it, not as warm as previously but nice and dry.
Had to make a trip to A&E this morning as I've damaged my ring finger on my right hand. Turns out I've torn my tendon, making the bed of all things. Tucked in the sheet under the mattress, finger got caught up and bent backwards, hurt at the time but not so much now.
I've to wear a finger splint for the next 8 weeks 24/7 then at night time for 4 weeks after that. It may heal it may not, time will tell. Who knew making a bed could be so fraught with danger
Managed to cut the grass this afternoon and weed out the dandelions in the front grass. will have to buy a weed killer for grass once we can get to a decent shop.
Face masks all made and sent off to children and Gchildren, SIL now asked for a couple so back to the machine, she had ordered a couple off line but nothing has turned up yet.
Well done to Mrs Oneputt, so many folk doing everything they can for the NHS. When I was up at the hospital today I asked how things were going, were they alright for PPE and face shields. The Dr said they were fine in Tayside they had plenty of stocks and numbers were coming down, only 1% in ICU across the whole of Scotland.
Bakers2 hope the headache clears up soon, thankfully mine went after a couple of days but it was worrying at the time.

Persisted down all day, but a nice gentle soak for the garden.
Finished painting all of the doors. Skirting boards can wait until my knees return to normal. Might go with the Two tone colour. White doors, "cigarette smoke" skirting boards. Just like olden days.
After being admitted to A&E last year I had to inform doctor that I wasn't allowed an MRI with contrast, just the MRI, due to the state of my kidneys. Good job you're here to tell us said the doctor! They all looked totally cooked. Too much work.
I do hope those people who have stayed away from A&E in the last 6 weeks realise what the A&E is really for. I know we'll have more accidents when work, play and transport starts again but some people turn up at hospital for colds or other non urgent ailments.

Heard yesterday that the wife of an old army chum had died of the Wuhan virus. She had a fall and broke her ankle so was taken to hospital. What isn’t clear is if she already had the symptoms or whether she picked it up in the hospital.

I know someone who most likely has broken a finger whilst doing some DIY. He point blank refuses to go to hospital. His wife has put a make do splint on it and he's taken some Ibuprofen. He says hospital is too dangerous to be near at the moment.

I do so agree with your last paragraph WN. Too many folks use A&E as a first resort, not last. However, that’s partly down to state of trying to get an on the day Docs appointment, and too many elderly folks not getting proper care. Fingers crossed this changes as well🤞

Here's a heads up! Did you know that during lockdown the National Archives are offering free downloadable access to some of their files eg Naval, Military, Wills etc. You just register and sign up and can look up some of your family or historical interests for free.

We reduced the insurance on our little classic car, still properly insured except for on the road, around £33 to pay now until we decide it might go on the road again. We're keeping the M/H as an emergency vehicle although I wouldn't really want to use it anywhere locally just now.

Funnily enough I do quite a bit of sewing etc but unless I have to I don't want to make masks at the moment...haven't got any elastic, another excuse!
The local Somerset and Dorset Family History Soc. passed on the news to me via email.

Thank You for the info, RedKite -- Sadly I had decided last September that it was too much of a struggle for old bones to cope with now. So I was going to do as much on line as possible and get round some of those shows I often over-looked, or discounted as being too small to be worthy of my attention
.
To Bakers 2 and { I think } Tammy girl :-- I apologise for neglecting to wake up with your headaches
, most remiss of me so I'll write myself a note & hang it over my specs tonight.

Well theres another great improvement NOT 😱. Apart from today's posts, nothing since early March. AND a delightful brown colour for the top of the page 🤪.
Another great success 🤣🤣🤣
Not raining here, but seems it continued overnight, a little brighter at the mo too. Garden is nicely wet thank you nature 😀
Must do some sewing jobs and masks, they won't take long ! I just want them to hand when we are able to mix for just in case situations. However since brue said about free National Archive access, I have played in there! Taking myself firmly in hand, in a moment 😉.
Need to check best suitable cards I have in stock for 3 May birthdays. I have been out and done as instructed, loosened the bolts and screws and sat on, our wobbly bench. I'd done it before but hadn't been told to sit on it! It's made no difference, neither has the fact that it's been rained on. Back to the suppliers......... so that's another email before I start, you can see why I don't get far 😤, cos by the time I go to start I'm right off the idea.
New video of the puppies so excited, they're getting quite lovely, solid food too. So I really should get routine stuff sorted!!,
Stay safe.
Just heard BoJo and partner have a baby boy. Life's a bit full on for him at the mo! Congratulations to them all.

I didn't realise that Dr Who was a forum member. Clearly used their time machine to travel back three months!!! Not been downstairs yet but I suppose my new kitchen hasn't been installed yet!!!

If we’ve gone back three months, does that mean there is no lockdown?
Sorry TDA crossed posts.
