Just finished watch Bob Ross the painter, haven't seen his series for many a year. Youngest son used to watch him years ago when he was studying art at Uni. OH has never seen his way of painting so we have been following this series on BBC four.
WN has your OH seen it she may not be interested of course, just find it so relaxing and amazing.
Nothing on tv tonight so will catch up on some of the recordings we have.
Not been a very productive day today, been looking at new vans (virtually of course) seen a few we like but can't make our mind up should we go bigger to fixed bed again or stay small and keep making them up at night.

Thanks, a bit of both really In September 1984 I started my first teaching post and I became firm friends with a geography teacher as we had a shared interest in railways. Slowly I found out that he was a rather famous (well up here) railway photographer and had been for many years. He gave me one of his books of photos which I now use to find the old locations. We kept up our friendship till he sadly passed away. He was a very gentle man and he was very kind to me and I often took him about on his travels. His collection of photographs is often on exhibition around the region.

We've been watching again, I think the series was first shown in the 80’s. There’s a happy little cloud above us unfortunately it’s chucking watery substance at us. Bob died around 1995 at quite a young age

No problem WN, yes it would be about 20 years ago I used to watch it our youngest (42 this year) not his style of painting either but I like to watch it
We've been looking online at caravans, trying to decide, do we go for same size but a better payload, or a bit bigger with fixed bed and better payload. Think it would likely be our last van purchase so want to get it right.
We have been talking for days about van conversions or caravans, having had a MH before we are not convinced that its for us, we missed not having a car to go off and see more when away.
We do like the ease of travel with a MH especially in winter months. If we were to go off to Spain for the winter I would feel better driving there in a MH but once there I know we would miss having a car.
Decisions, decisions, still its kept us busy for the last coupe of days. Who knows, when all this is over if going anywhere will ever be the same.

Our thoughts about caravans versus motorhomes too TG. We had motorhomes (3) for years and loved them. We liked the ease of packing up quickly and the ease of travelling but eventually decided like you that we wanted a car to travel around and see the area so we swapped about 12 years ago and really like the freedom of having the car. I still think a MH is easier for travelling though but we wouldnt swap now.

Jacked up the MH and put it on blocks yesterday to take the load off the tyres. Having SORNed it the other day, I'm well and truly mothballed now. Perhaps I should think about shrink-wrapped plastic like laid up motor cruisers.

Nice sunny morning here, will it last I wonder? It's strange talking about our vans just now. All we can do is sit in ours and look at the views from home. We've hardly used the car either. I suppose we're saving a bit of money not being able to go away, we'd have heading to the Lakes and Northumberland just now.
Got to put my farmshop order in today, have really enjoyed the surprise veg and fruit which arrives.

having fitted a new skylight last week and refreshed another, today I have a new cassette roller-blind/fly-screen to fit in place of a worn out/damaged original
I am also fitting a couple of reading lights that turned up in the post at the same time and wiring in some rear speakers for the cab stereo, having wired in a switched and fused second supply to the stereo from the leisure batteries.
The lawn needs mowing after all the rain, I think I will leave that until tommorow though.

Getting ready for the Post Lockdown World in South Cheshire
.
Well, yours truly took his 'contactless' card out for a paper this morning only to be met with a highish pitched voice saying " You can put that away !! Cash only today bleep bleep bleep reader has packed up again " At least I still pack a coin or six, even if only for the trolley
Few short sharp showers so at least the weather is seasonal again, grass and dandelions all flourishing while the birds are still eating me out of house and home but at least they do their 'alarm for A B M' business at about 4:15 every morning to allow me to start taking the days meds early enough to avoid delaying breakfast
{ Stops for a breath !! } -- and that allows me to do the early morning refill of seed feeders ( gasp). Now I'm off for a cuppa and read of the eagerly awaited Club Magazine.
Take Care, Stay Safe

ABM. When you said "post" lock down I seem to remember there won't be any weekend post until all this is over...or did I dream it?!
Hail showers here now but everywhere looking fresh and green. OH and I have been looking at the clouds and birds going over, lots of swallows arriving, plenty of insects in the air today.

Son keeps sending me photos of plumbing, something I know little about but understand the upheaval! Now a message about some "sound" work too. What a mixture of messages we get from the family!
Better get on with what I was supposed to be doing.
Thanks ABM, I thought that was happening.
Have a good day one and all.

Nice sunny day here today. We were supposed to be on our way down to Knaresburgh Club site today for a week sad as it is one we have never visited before and we’re looking forward to still hopefully get nearer the end of the year. Fingers crossed.

Brue - What date was that you were due to be at a C&CC site we have a 3 night booking with them for the end of June and so far they still haven’t refunded the deposit maybe they are waiting to see if they will be open then as it is the very last weekend in June.

Would that,by any chance,be Moffat for the classic cars.We were going too and I have paid for the whole booking so ,as the show is off,I may cancel anyway!

Yes that’s right we go every year always a good weekend. Haven’t got the deposit back yet but if they do happen to be open (not hopeful) then we will probably still go down for the 3 nights as planned it’s only an hour and a half from home and is a lovely place to spend a few days.

TG - Payload was one of the biggest factors for us and having just over 200kgs suits us fine. Not that we've had much chance of getting to use it, although I shouldn't grumble as at least we've been out in it 4 times this year, if only for 4 or 5 days at a time. Making the bed up every night still isn't a bother and I prefer the extra room not having a fixed bed gives us whilst not having too big a van to tug. It's all compromises isn't it? We'd quite like a little M/H for winter touring. Something that we could easily park and Mrs WN can feel ok driving. We'll leave it a couple of years and then maybe splash out if we're still here.
Got a little damp on our walk this morning but not too bad. Not many people out and about. Keep having quite heavy showers. Lawn will definitely need cutting this weekend.

It's quite a nice site Francis, away from the main road. There's a bar on site but the pub in the local village, about 5 minutes walk, looked better. Too full when we called in. Knaresborough town and Harrogate not far away as is the Moors and places like Skipton and Bolton Abbey. I think you'll enjoy it.

Yes,about the same distance for us.I was going to take my midget and one of my brothers his GT6 plus a family get together for a long weekend with a meal out at Brodies. If the site does open we will probably still go but Brodies have refunded our deposit already and the show is definitely cancelled. We shall see what the next 3 weeks produces and go from there!

Ours were also for May / early June. In fact we should have been leaving this Saturday. I had four sites booked and sent them an email at the begining of April requesting they rebook and carry the deposits over to the same dates next year. I received a reply on Tuesday, apologising for the slow response, saying they had done as requested, plus 4 x 2021 booking confirmations.
Normal Friday walk into the village to butchers and veg shop. First time since lock down began we haven't been queuing in the sun.☹️ After taking the shopping home we went for our walk. Rather than the route straight into the forest, we went back through the village to some parkland on the other side. It was very noticeable how much more traffic was on the roads. Not as much as normal conditions but still significant. The main reason for going in that direction was we had been told the blue bells were spectacular. They were!😀

WN, we will not be doing anything any time soon until we know what our future will look like once we are allowed to travel again.
Making the bed up each night doesn't bother us overly much either when in travelling mode. Its more thinking about IF we decide to go to Spain for the winter, would we be better to have a slightly larger van (we had one before the MH) should we decide to go to one site and stay there, then having a bigger van and fixed beds might be the better option.
The option of a small MH for winter hasn't been totally ruled out, we will look at that again IF and when we have made a decision on Spain.
Payload will be higher on our list next time we buy a caravan, we have found a few we like so will just wait and see how things pan out.

Not a bad day here, warm and sunny this afternoon.
I was sent to do some tidying this morning while OH was tidying the kitchen and putting on some washing. Then we went out for some shopping mid afternoon, OH went in Tesco while I went for a walk in the park next door. Long queue outside Tesco but OH said it moved quite quickly and once inside the store it was well organised and fairly quiet.
Still no flour in Tesco, but we still have plenty, so I have just put on our next loaf.
We are not getting through the contents of the freezer as fast as predicted, so we have delayed our Waitrose C&C for a week.
