Corners, take a little peak at the Strava app! Cycling mode. I have the free version, just basic, but it’s fun looking at where you have been, ground covered, lots of other statistics.

Hi Guys, just this morning I have registered to use the Komoot website/app.

I have Strava and two other apps but saw an advertorial which had a code to download free regional maps' so may be worth a look.

The website, komoot.com, has a decent ride planner and you can send planned routes to your phone as well as record your activity. The free download password is TASPRING.

re electric bikes, I considered one for a while as, due to a prolapsed disc, I have issues with my left leg which affect my cycling ability.

I decided to visit our local bike specialists and was surprised to hear that all the 'cool young guys' staff, well a lot younger than me, are ebike riders.

Most are off road riders and they soon dispelled any notion that having an ebike was a ticket to an easy ride and I was quite taken by their view that for most people it meant riding where you may not have been able to manage and usually spending far more time on the bike than you would normally.

I was also mightily impressed with the staff product knowledge and the time spent explaining the bikes available, their characteristics and suitability to me.

I was also lucky that, after going away to consider things, mainly due to needing to justify to myself the cost, I revisited just before the Black Friday sales to find the model I liked was heavily discounted so I am now the proud, and reinvigorated, owner of a Specialised Turbo Levo.

My old Voodoo Bizango is being used by my Grandson and we usually do a swap for about a third of the ride just so I can convince my self I can still do it without assistance.

The only current downside is that my planned holiday to Lake Annecy, and its miles of traffic free cycle paths, will have to wait.

Grey day here but not cold, no wind either.

Glad I cut the grass late afternoon yesterday as much rain overnight, and a few short showers during the day. Been on the phone, a walk along the Irvine Valley including toddlers paddling in their wellies πŸ˜‰ so good catch up with my friend.

Had time and inclination plus soil at right moisture level, so I've been out tickling the surface and sowing grass. Had a shower but that coincided with a phone call, great timing 🀣 by the caller - OH's cousin. I then went out and finished the biggest area under the top of the garden bench. Then got thinking how nice it all looks, well for another 3 weeks at least. Then remembered we are getting a new family member! Suddenly realised puppy won't understand borders 😱😱😱. Then I tell myself of course she will, grand dog did quite quickly and wasn't a digger, hope this one isn't! Just need to be vigilant, might delegate that task!

KjNelln it's amazing how our offspring learn almost by osmosis πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚. Both our 2 obviously took in more than we thought whilst we DIY'd. Neither close enough to get real practical assistance in person - phew πŸ˜‰. Hope your birthday present is well received. I'm sure it will have been well made! When will you reveal what it is?

Going back to cooking and recipes, sorry Brain, I must be an awful Baker, no pun intended! as my failure sponges have been Mary Berry recipe but it was one from the 1970's. Not tried for years, the family were so rude! Birthday sponges in the 80s and 90s for kids cake, cut and disturbed so never heard comments 🀣. Might have another try but not just yet, OH off cakes and I don't need the inches.......

I've found our bikes, no good for OH, defo would  balance issues if he tried and not a good time to need medical assistance 😱. Too much stuff to move to get them out, and will need takethedogalong OH to check it over. I can do wheels go round? Brakes squeeze? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Daren't ask if they could go, found some grass feed and weed sachets, not enough to do ours and anyway was done by 'a man' recently. Suggested I put on fb neighbour page as may be some use to someone - might have suggested something crazy! It would be free as no idea on age πŸ€”. Some things can be lost others can't!

I have been discovering a bit more about my Smart Phone over the weekend. I was able to transfer some music to the phone and I downloaded the BBC Sounds app so I can listen to Pod Casts and radio programmes. Handy when I am on my static exercise bike in the conservatory! I had a spell of peddling to Gardeners World this afternoon.

Well, B2, if I manage to work out how to resize photos, I just might be able to post a photo of the present!  Apparently the photo I have is too big.

DD is keen to be able to do things herself as she can see how useful and economical it can be, also she realises I will not be around for ever to help her out.

She has been involved in a lot of the stuff I was doing in her houses over the years, so can now do tiling, plumbing, electricals and some woodwork.  I think the woodwork is the most difficult to master.

She asked for an electric drill for her birthday 5 years back, and has acquired various bits and pieces over the years to have basic essentials available should she want me to fix something when I do not have my "mobile workshop" with me.

and I believe West Coast of USA is on the cardsπŸ˜‚

Tda,  I guess that will be The Tour Divide that he's going to try. Didn't know he was into ultra distance rides, or if he's got the bike for it!laughing  Has he been watching , or even competing in, the Virtual Tour design Suisse?

DD also uses an all in one sponge recipe, no idea where she found it, and all her cakes are delicious.

    125g SR flour

    125g caster sugar

mix together and place in bowl

    add  125g baking margarine

    2 eggs

    half teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream it all together for 3 minutes till light and fluffy

(she uses a big Kenwood mixer)

For cupcakes, divide between 12 cases and bake at 160C for 14-16 minutes till well risen and springs back when touched.

For a cake, make a double quantity mix.

Grease and line an 8 inch cake tin.

Bake at 160C initially for 25 minutes then test with a cocktail stick, it should come out clean. Top of cake should be springy when touched. Bake a little longer if necessary, but be careful not to let it get too brown.

Kj - if you're using an android device, download an app called "photo & picture resizer". It just takes a couple of clicks to reduce your photo to the right size  (one click if you're lucky!) smile

117.4 mils which includes about a 64 ml round trip to WGH. So in other 44 days we've been at home we have done 53 mils. How about yourself?

About 30 miles in the tugger and 25ish in t'other. So about 10 miles per week. This last 2 weeks we've probably done a bit less, more at the beginning.

Hope whoever was querying your driving to enjoy yourself is satisfied now. smile Safe biking NTH.

Pretty lazy day today  after all the work yesterday.

ebikes we are on our 3rd set of them now first pair was bought about 12 years ago very basic but we thought they were great at the time.

Then we moved to a pair of folding ebikes, not expensive but they were great new technology, we had 3 speeds and 6 gears wow, we went every where on them but realised that it was far to easy so we eventually, 3 years ago bought a pair of pedelec ebikes  (thanks BB)

Now they were not cheap, Bosch motors, 3 speed and 7 gears. Fantastic bikes we can do 100 miles on one battery charge but they are full size, so since we got rid of the MH, we have had to work out a way of taking them away with us with the caravan.

Went for a walk around the village this afternoon, put 5 bags of 40 teabags in the charity community larder. I moved to decaff a while ago but still had a big box of ordinary teabags in the cupboard so decided to re bag them and donate them. Larder is doing very well lots of folk donating and looking inside, things are being taken but no one appears to be abusing it. smile

We had a sit out on the decking on our return nice cuppa and a piece of banana loaf, not much left laughing that's a Mary Berry recipe turns out great every time, very easy to make. i haven't made scones for years and years, must give it a try, as we likes a scone with cream and jam wink

Thanks Moulesy, I'd not been able to find a resizer to suit me on a new phone, mostly because they came up as free and then wanted card details. However I found I could override it with the app you suggested. Just tried it on the "sniffer" thread, I downsized to 600 x800. smilesmile

Credit where it's due, I think it was DSB who first mentioned it. It's certainly the easiest app I've found for resizing photos. smile

Had a grand walk this morning of about 4 mls and came home with a Debenham's  carrier bag nearly full of freshly picked Rhubarb, courtesy of a lady we chatted to, at a distance of course, on our way round. All stewed now, had some for our sweet at dinner tonight with freshly made scones and (bought) Ice Cream, and a box full in the freezer for future use.

Hi nellie, the hard tail. My preferred riding locations are trails with Lanhydrock and Cardinham Woods, both near Bodmin, the most extreme.

At the moment obviously sticking to local roads and so far no too much traffic.

If it's any help KjellNN, I use an app to resize photos for CT.... 'Photo & Picture Resizer'.  You can download it free from Google Play Store.

Well done on both counts KjNelln πŸ˜€. Once you've got photoresizer it's relatively straight forward to add a photo isn't it?

Very snazzy bottle holder! Is it a  map of Scotland back plate?

Beautiful wood and turning. A very talented man πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks for the reminder DSB and Moulesy too. On my last phone I could resize everything easily without an app. So I've been messing around to see if it was the same on my new phone, which it isn't frown but the free app is fine (ignore requests for your card details.) Good to see Kj has also joined the photo posters too.

Well done brue, I reckoned it would be either you or Tinwheeler who would get it first.

The shelves that hold the bottles are as near as possible to where each distillery is.  The whole thing is about 70cm top to bottom.

It was DIL's idea, she provided the bottles and the instructions as to where they should all go, fitting in the bigger bottles did give me a bit  of a problem
