No OP, perfectly acceptable, but only if you are taking my walk for me
Oh dear, the oldest thingummy, CS marked shortage of them in CREWE now ! You can get a guided tour round Crewe Works tho, especially if you want a new house, or some goodies and are prepared to queue - 'cos the majority of Crewes railway history is long gone now - but Morrisons would just Lurrve to take your pennies off you ,, ,, ,, ,,

Having taken the MH for its MOT and service, I "de-mossed" half of the block paving driveway and gave it a bit of a scrub. I was too knackered to do it all in one go. Looking better already.

Did they MOT it, CY? If so, I wonder why when MOTs have been granted an automatic extension? It was originally for 6 months but Grant Shapps said this evening it was until the end of the lockdown period.

Been washing and cleaning the outside of the motorhome over the last couple of days. Ever since we have had motorhomes I have always reversed them into the garden which always means the side nearest the garage is difficult to clean. Decide on a different approach this time. Washed the roof and the near side and them drove it out onto the road and drove it cab first into the garden to allow me to clean the other side and the back. Not as straight forward driving in but I managed, only hope I can get it out in one piece!!! Almost all done now but a few stubborn marks to clean off with polish and a sort out of the gas locker before I turn it round into it round into its more usual position.

Been wondering what is going to happen when Lockdown ends? Presumably a lot of people will have taken advantage of not having to have an MOT and there is going to be one almighty rush to get them done unless the Govt allow garages to do them by date order or something similar.
My tugger is due for MOT in July so I may have a problem getting in on time.

Our SIL has a contact that can take them straight to the ward(s) that need them. Hopefully that will avoid the bureaucracy of the NHS
. From my experience of the NHS when working there the bureaucracy was so frustrating. You had to put in a request in triplicate for anything. It is even worse now with these new PFI hospitals - which ours is.

An even warmer day than yesterday, with very little cloud. Did some weeding this morning then this afternoon I took my bike out of the garage to give it a "service". I could well have done with the assistance of tda's OH as the front disc brake was locked solid against the front wheel!
When I eventually was able to extract the wheel the brake shoe fell apart. Looking at the state of the assembly I guess that a whole new one is needed. Cleaned and oiled the rest of the bike and all seems well as I was able to ride it round the block with any problems. It would appear that if I want to go for a ride it will be with a back brake only. Been there, done that before.
The views from this afternoon's rather gentler walk than normal, because of the warmth, around the old playing fields, took in, as well as that IOM etc from a previous walk, an airfield, a castle, a gas terminal, nuclear power station and a huge off shore wind farm.

Oops Nellie😂 OH is currently rebuilding niece’s Muddy Foxx, somehow she has managed to bust the derailer, you know, the bit that makes it all work! 🤷♀️
Bike ride for me tomorrow. Rain forecast for next week, so I might just investigate the bike cave up in the attic, see what is going on up there.🤔

I see the Welsh Gov have issued new excercise guidelines which mention cyclists cannot go for longer bike rides than an hours walk! Plus you cannot take the car to the point of your daily excercise unless it is deemed absolutely essential. They give the example of someone who is disabled who might need to drive to a local park.
Did you demolish a Cattery or something similar Nellie?

Warmest day so far here, more work in the garden moving plants around.
OH given the task of more shredding, at least it drowned out the 4 girls screaming at the other side of our Leylandii hedge, wish it was time for them to go back to school
Longer bike ride this afternoon, 10 miles all on country roads, nice breeze (we always seem to get one in the afternoons)
Tonight was a BBQ for dinner, first this year, made it feel a bit more like a holiday day.
Really enjoying the time we have in the garden getting lots of jobs done, in the last 9 years its only been getting the basic work done on it.
We should have been at El Rocio for this weekend if our plans had not changed. Then Monday we would have gone to Saville for a few days.

Rather frustratingly, I had booked it in two days before the announcement. The upside is that I have beaten the rush that will, doubtless, ensure when the lockdown is lifted. My parting comment to the receptionist was " see in a year with it having done about four miles"

Yes, at the moment my towcar is doing about 2 months to the gallon.

That must be so frustrating TG after all your hard work. I gather a lot of people are having the same problem. The wheels of bureaucracy run exceedingly slowly unfortunately. A friend of mine who is a good seamstress has applied to make scrubs and heard nothing. I hope it does work out for our SIL as like you he is very keen to help out.

We had ours booked in, too, but the garage rang and cancelled the MOT in view of the suspension. Fortunately, it's a two year servicing schedule so that's not due.

btw I took your OH's advice about having a +1

Tammygirl - having read that I mentioned it to one of the carers at Dad's care home. The company which runs it ( quite a large one in the sector) has apparently discouraged their homes from accepting such offers for fear that they will rapidly slide down the list of priority deliveries from the government. Which is a very sad reflection on things I think!

I literally can't remember the last time I filled up,

Another glorious sunny morning - at least the weather has behaved itself during the "lockdown". Just a bit cooler so an extra couple of miles with the dogs. Should at least sort the older one (Lady) out for the day, but Ralph will be standing at the door again shortly after his breakfast!

TG,
The First Minister ['FM'] announced that 2 plane loads of PPE had arrived at Prestwick yesterday and she also said that the Scottish Government had 'brokered' [my word, not hers!] the formation of a mini Supply Chain of, IIRC, 4 Scottish companies to produce Face Masks and Gowns because they recognised the need to avoid having to sweat on deliveries from abroad arriving with the correct quantities, types and quality standards at a time when there was a global scramble for supplies. [There was a lot of info being given out at that point so some details of my post may be a wee bit off tune!].
Perhaps the Men's Shed efforts have been overtaken by events? Given that there appears at least weeks, if not months, to go before the infections are under control, there may well be a 'market' for the current stock if another 'pinch point' occurs.
FM was at pains to point out yesterday that we are still very much in uncharted territory and that mistakes will still happen, so if the new PPE arrangements do falter at any stage, a Dentist, GP Surgery or Care Home may well welcome your OH and his colleagues stock of Masks. I really do not want to see another headline '37 year old nurse/porter/care assistant dies from COVID', supported by a quote indicating that staff have struggled without adequate PPE for several days etc.
Thanks to your OH and his colleagues for their work and manufacturing expertise.

Brrrrrrrrr jolly chilly, well compared to what we've been having, here today grey uninspiring 10c. Glad to see you have sun moulsey. We are desparate for rain and that would be better than what we have today!
Really saddened to read that PPE doesn't seem to be required. Very frustrating, wasteful etc after all the effort 😤😤. There was a report on BBC East that was similar where company's had the same response! It certainly seems at odds with the reports we hear, read and see. I too don't want to read of further deaths probably caused by lack of PPE. I certainly hope that they can be stored against a further shortage in the near future, after all the whole world is chasing supplies!
Was looking forward to a virtual blossom walk through local Orchard at 6pm last evening. Eager, it was a beautiful evening, ready and willing. Couldn't join in how ever hard I tried, I wasn't alone 😢, eventually got the 'invite' and got in 22 minutes into it - in the tabletop strawberry polytunnel. Most disappointing 😢. Did get a glimpse of some at the end most underwhelmed. Seems I can't even not go out 🤣🤣
Not sure what to fill my hours with today, plenty to choose from but nothing I fancy. All been a very slow start here today, so in reality there wont be many hours to fill at this rate 😂

Yes I agree very sad as so many people are trying to help the NHS in any way possible. Does the care home (or any PPE dependant place) have to say they have received donations of such equipment? I feel anything that may give these places some ‘back up’ would be welcomed.

It might be that the standard quality of a good surgical face mask isn't met by the cloth types being made at home. The most protective masks which prevent fluids entering are made from other types of materials. Cloth masks don't offer that level of protection but I suppose they offer some, I think I read it's around 30% protection?
We need to stick with the guidelines and stay away from outside sources of infection.
Better get on with my day, the floors need a clean!

The one Mrs One made me is very robust and has a pocket in it so I can insert other cloth pads. Only use it if I happen to go into Morrison’s and is washed after each use. Don’t normally use it when walking as we can get well out of the way of other folk
