Great excitement in the moulesy's garden today - well, OK, just a bit of new interest.
10 years or so ago when we redesigned the garden I planted a tree paeony - a little cutting about 12 inches which I think I bought of eBay for about a fiver.
Every year since it's grown and leafed and then died off again without showing the slightest inclined action to blossom.
But this year it's finally done the business - 3 brilliant yellow blooms at the moment and anot her half dozen buds appearing. So persistence does pay off in the end!

Moulsey it's beautiful and we have to take our pleasures where we find them. Fortunately nature is being kind at the mo, not counting some virus or the other! Under normal circumstances many of us would be missing our garden delights.
Local florist lady came round to get some pittasporum and twisted hazel, she not happy her supplier breaking the law by not delivering - that's another story! She admired my pretty manicured garden - must have too much time on my hands! I dont think it's ever looked so good π
Still awaiting my Tesco delivery between 2-4pm π± I hope I haven't dreamt it all???
Edit quick check, got right day and time on Tesco site and it seems money not available in the bank, so they've taken it. π€

Glad to hear your hard work in gardens various and on keyboards is bearing fruit {
}
Took Aged Sisters magazines and puzzles up this morning and got away with out being attacked by her eldist's demented whippet ( He was at work in the garden dust bowl as was the mutt )
Got home happily and then got a phone call from the pharmacy telling me that the repeat prescription request which only went in on Friday afternoon is ready for collection. Strolled round all of 250 yards to find only two were in the customer side, nobody queuing round the carpark, Big screen over the till area, staff all wearing full face shields and the sun was shining beautifully
.
Had a light lunch, came on here and then got loads of phone calls so all I've actually done is pay the Elektrikery Bill, clear a load of silly teehee--mails and let my coffee go cold -- YEUK !!
So now I'm off for that hot coffee

Congrats on the tree peony M. I wouldnβt have had the patience to be honestπ I learned to be a ruthless gardener with EH, I once had to take some hedge cutters to once only flowering roses in the rose garden at Brodsworth, at the height of flowering time. It fair near broke my heart, our house was festooned in cut roses for ages, I couldnβt bring myself to just put them on the compost heap. I canβt recall the reason why, but I know all the volunteers kicked up a fuss. But the next year the display was stupendous. I am brutal now with my own garden.
Nice acid yellow colour. We are just ending the yellow phase here (daffs, primroses, tulips) Will be pink and purple next........

I ordered "Windrush" flour which is now out of stock, I can't find my original email copy order, I have since had a lot of communications from the flour company. I think deliveries are free over a certain price and there are minimum orders at the moment, I couldn't find delivery details on the web site either. They must be around somewhere, I haven't signed in so if I do, I might spot the costs, it was a bit pricey if I remember. But I expect all the mills are operating much the same just now.

I use Shipton Mill, a similar supplier. So charges may also be similar.
Over Β£30 free. Under Β£30 itβs Β£6.
A 16kg sack of white bread flour is Β£15.50. Itβs been the same price since at least 2008 (as far back as my emails go). Though postage has gone up.
They are releasing delivery slots on and off. I struck lucky about a week ago.

another sunny day and a bike ride along the C2C about 16 miles out and back. Those cows look pretty real when you approach them!
Actually that is the site of Beamish (yes same place as the museum) station, once a two track very tidy station as shown. You can still see the bridge behind the picture with the two cows. Is it me or was removing that lovely station just an act of vandalism?

And another then and now, this time over the A183 at Chester-le-street

I agree with you CS. It reminds me, from this angle, of the one that still exists at Weybourne, on the Sheringham to Holt line.
I can't believe I'm writing this but I need to water the garden! For goodness sake we live in North Wales and it's only April. So after this cuppa I'll be out there.
Lovely day again. Sorted out our repeat prescription. Had to sign up to Practice's website to do it as Surgery shut and entry by appointment only, after clearing it Welsh Government by the sound of it.
Mrs WN popped into Aldi while I took proof of who I am and posted it through Surgery's letterbox. Funny that they want you to sign up on line but can't accept a scanned ID. Anyway Mrs WN said it was very quiet at 4pm and got quite a few bits that we usually get from there. She doesn't like going there as the aisles aren't very wide but with only half a dozen cars in the car park she decided to risk it.

Had a hospital appointment today, the consultant decided to do it over the phone. It really consisted of going over previous treatments when normally itβs a full blown examination. Still I guess it ticked a box.
Wind is just starting to subside. Hopefully be able to see some of the meteor shower for the next couple of days

Nice sunny day again clear sky with no aircraft, trails , wind still from east so a,bit chilly
Queued for just over half an hour to get my repeat prescription at Lloyds chemist (was due last Thursday) when i got in store, max two customers ,"can i come back tomorrow as not ready yet"
, i thought this could be the future? I have now signed up for free home delivery via 48hr royal mail tracked parcel ,,of my repeats

I signed up for our surgery website repeat prescriptions and then found I couldn't get beyond the present Fort Knox set up with proof of identity. So I'm doing it via an email system used for the whole of our area, have to be very careful to put everything on exactly as needed. I will be phoning the chemist first to check whether the prescription is ready and a good time to collect it, this seemed to work last time, fingers crossed for the second time!

2.5% Consols and 3% War Loan those are names that take me back. Good chance for a big capital gain if the interest rates dropped from those double digit days.
Still,"lay not up where moth and rust...."

Yes we had 'The Spanish Inquistion' when applying for our mortgage in 1966. No way was my income taken into account. Some many years later a single female friend of ours had huge problems applying for a mortgage and she eventually got one on the understanding that she never at any time had anyone else living with her, especially male π±

Unfortunately are nearest chemist is part of a small local group, they are delivering to people who are housebound at the moment and our village volunteers are also collecting for others who need help. I will have to sort out something when this crisis is over. Thanks JVB.

I didn't manage a decent walk today as had to wait for Tyre Guy to call about fixing the car, so OH has done the Flyte walks instead. Waiting around this afternoon I decided to remove some of those horrible Mares Tails, and while doing so tripped up and smacked the wrist, damaged when I broke my arm prior to Christmas, against a wall...my goodness it hurt, hope I've not exacerbate the problem. T G arrived mid afternoon with a new battery which he was able to fit into the Volvo, and all worked fine, thankfully. A rather costly day but relieved that it was only a dead battery and nothing worse. At least we can do our essential journey to the shops tomorrow evening.
TG, we completed the task of making a couple of those face masks, as per the video, so all set now to face the world!!π Thanks for the method.

Luckily our SIL came to our rescue and collected our prescriptions as our chemist has only ever delivered to the housebound. I will have to investigate a different solution when the situation improves so we are better set up in the future.
OH washed both cars today and then I read on the internet this afternoon that it is forbidden to wash your car. It is classed as not necessary - ooops! OH says it was his hour of permitted fresh air and exercise. The Police haven't been round yet so I think we got away with it π.
What a lovely peony moulesy. Perseverance pays off. Our garden is transforming from yellows to blues.

Online ordered now treated and stored away. Everything ordered came, substitutes were in my favour too.
One hiccup though - amused myself for the 2 hour slot with drop instantly jobs. Allotted hours passed, checked my order date and time yes right day, date and time, collected. Good I thought driver has it. Three quarters of an hour after latest time I start calling the store, plenty of pre-recorded listening, so I fire up tablet to get the order number and 'fall in' its click and collect π±ππ₯.
Grab car key, OH insists on coming in the car, no time to discuss! Drive less than 5 minutes, right tiswas! Normally rush hour and not worth taking a car out on that route! All ok. Put bag after bag after bag in the boot everyone plastic. 80 items 20 bags, some items singularly in a bag in another bag, so much for saving the planet π€ recycled the lot, I have OCD at the mo!
Dropped off item, dried puppy food for their hedgehog not available on her last order, to a friend as I pass. She thanks me but said I didn't have to drop it off - not quite out yet. Oh boy how amusing did her OH find it?? That's going to take some living down ππ
Anyway I've calmed down now. Next online shop is a delivery on 27th, can order luxury things this time as I put everything on 1st one incase of out of stock as I'd have a 2nd bite next week. No more luck on slots latest date 11 May, but it'll just be fresh I run down on. Might get lucky by June- oh yes that's when they said our time would be up for staying in π€
Hope you all enjoyed your day π.

You are very welcome
I went to Aldi today and managed to pick up a pack of 'Fat squares' so have made some pretty masks for the grandchildren and a couple for me and big sis, seems the men just want plain ones
Very sunny here today but definitely not sitting out weather unless you can hide from the wind. Thankfully the wind has now dropped and the trees are now still.
OH made a few more 'face shields' for the careers, getting elastic is not easy just now, most of the shops that sell it are closed and places like 'The Range' its out of stock. Had to go online to order some, even some of those suppliers are out of stock. Managed in the end to get some, due sometime between Friday and Tuesday. We need 2 different sizes as the masks need thin and shields at least half and inch.
MillieH, didn't know its not allowed to wash cars.

Another lovely sunny day here, and a full day of hard labour in the garden.........not by us thankfully!
Our garden man was here before 8am, and did not leave till after 5pm, and everything is looking much tidier. He will return another day to spray weed killer on the driveway and paths as it was too windy today. The trees that were cut down have been cut into chunks and may end up in our son's log burner, 2 garden bins have been filled up to await eventual collection, and all the branches and prunings have been shredded for mulch. Over to us now to try and keep it tidy over summer.

Nelliethehooker glad the car no more expensive than new battery. Hope your wrist is ok. Good luck with eradicating mares tales π±π±
On the subject of prescriptions the self owned chemist nextdoor to our doctors is our preferred chemist, all set up, phone chemist they sort, pick up few days later. These days I do phone before going to ensure they're ready.
If you're thinking of arranging something do remember your local self owned, if possible, as some companies are taking repeat med handling away from them use them or lose them π
No chance of our car being washed. These days I pay a man, yes usually a man. It is really really dusty, so much so that the wipers came on unprompted ππ.

Margaret has an appointment at the hospital on Thursday but when she phoned yesterday they said it would also be done over the phone. Today she had a text say a new appointment letter was on the hospital portal (no more letters by post!) We opened the letter up and it said your appointment of 23rd April has been cancelled and rebooked for 23rd of April, for the exact same time!!! I think what they meant to say (confirmed by telephone) that the appointment for a visit to the hospital has been cancelled but the Consultant will ring you at around the same time as the original appointment.

OH has had one telephone consultation. Went very well as really discussion of amended tablets prescribed by consultant via GP following an echocardiogram in January and we had seen cardiac care community nurse the week before. The consultant emphasised OH in the very vunerable group. In fact we have had a text with another telephone consultation with community cardiac nurse next Monday, then 2 letters envelope for each same delivery, one saying where and when to go for said appointment and another to say no appointments they'll be by telephone if necessary!
Oneputt knowing your history I presume youd have been happier with a physical exam?
OH dental appointment for May was cancelled by phone today, check up and as we go every months π his August one will stand (for now!)
Good luck to all those with telephone consultations - my advise write down questions and keep to hand cos it is different.

I have seen my Mum today. βWhat virus?βπ was the initial greeting, but she did get her head round it after 5 minutes. She sat in doorway, we sat on lawn, dog wandered wherever he wanted! Just good to say a proper hello. Dropped off meds, some homemade ice cream, a few other necessaries. Mum seems fine thankfully, keeping herself busy, and my Sister on her toes. Garden is looking good, they have lots of veg coming up in greenhouse.
We have discovered a good method of dealing with the post.........

Just catching up, read all the posts re savings, just wish I had some to worry about.
Glad your flour has finally arrived Brue, you will be busy baking now.
Sunny but breezy day I emptied and cleaned the kitchen drawers this morning before work, while OH took up the lounge flooring to replace a bit that had been chipped.
Millie I didn't know car washing isn't allowed, OH has even washed the MG
Pleased you have got a new battery sorted Nellie, hope you haven't done any more damage to your wrist.
Our pair of Bluetits are still really busy, most of the nesting material seems to be coming from my hanging baskets. Resident Hedgehogs in the box are eating their way through lots of food, if will be another visit to the pet shop for their "essential " food soon.
Bakers glad you managed to collect your shopping, I finally had to visit Aldi last night, shop was quiet, just wish people wouldn't get so close.

Not too bothered, and happy to take the pressure off the hospital. I will have another appointment in 3 months. I had a scan a couple of months ago which had a fairly positive result.
No meteors just yet but a very bright Venus.
just seen that Bear Grylls, chief scout, has been awarded the OBE πβΊοΈ
