After reading the paper this morning it seems that if anyone wants to use public transport shortly it may be compulsory to wear a mask.
Its been a lovely day here today sunny and warm. I took the opportunity to give the car a wash it had only done 6 miles since the last time I washed it but itโs amazing the amount of dust that gathers on it, we are only one street back from the beach so it could be small grains of sand. Anyway dinner in the oven now steak pie tonight.
Hope everyone else has had a nice day.0 -
It's strange talking about face masks.
Mrs WN wears a bandana and covers her mouth for about 8 months of the year whenever there is a hint of coldness or a strong wind as she suffers with Neuralgia and gets toothache and/or earache if she doesn't. In early March we were in a shop and I overheard someone saying that she thought the facemask(sic) on that woman was a bit extreme seeing as we hardly had any virus cases! Little did she know eh?
Looks like her Brownie badge for sewing may come in handy.

Thanks TG, have shared that with OH.
I can think if she starts making them, she will need to go into mass production to supply the whole family once they get to hear about it!
Been another lovely day here, fans running again to move the heat on through the house. This morning we made our leek and potato soup, this time with added parsnips as we had a couple that needed to be used up. Had a quick taste and could not taste any difference.
At lunch time we had a visit from our garden man, maintaining distance of course, he will come and make a start on Tuesday while we stay out of the way. Borders to be tidied, shrubs and a few trees to be cut well back, and at least 4 big trees to be removed, then all the slabbed and gravelled areas to have weed killer applied.
Normally I would go out and help him, but he will be on his own this time, almost everything will be shredded and used as mulch in the garden, so will not take up much room in the garden bins. The big trees I will get him to leave round the side of the house and I will cut them up later to either go to DS's log burner, Or be turned into something.
Sent DD our scone recipe as she has never made scones before, much more into cakes of all types, so she and Callum made scones, which apparently tasted excellent but came out a little flat as Callum kept pressing the dough flat! ๐คฃ
Dinner was stir fry beef with veg and noodles, with a nice bottle of red, part of our Waitrose delivery the other week. We were very good and only had one glass each. ๐

Tammygirl thanks for the link, similar to one on fb but this has measurements ๐. Going to check out medience chest, lots of stuff in there from my dad, that's a while back ๐ฏ might have something to make the inners with. Got some cotton material I'm sure and if not there's pillowcases ๐.
Of cause then theres the wire to find! That will probably involve tidying the big shed, I shudder at that thought! Maybe he'll know where it could be in chaos - he often does ๐ฑ.
I understand they should be washed at 60c, reckon I'll have to find an old saucepan and do it the old fashioned way. Loads at mums!! Might need to go over and check out the house anyway, so good excuse, its 20 mile round trip.

brue there are a couple of videos on youtube that have liners in them, can't say I see the need either if you use 2 layers on good quality count cotton. The more layers you add the harder it will be to breath normal.
Don't really fancy having to wear them but if it comes to that at least we will have quite a few so can keep washing them.
If I had some of the 'fat quarters' that quilters use, we could have some nice fancy patterned ones

David, I'm not sure what caused the drainage, and I don't have an electric point in my garage. Should I get it started tomorrow I'll back it out of the garage and turn it around, reversing it down my drive and leave it there for the duration. I've an electric point on the side of the house for connecting up to the caravan.
Helen, please thank Trevor for the advice. I disconnected the battery and had it on charge all day. I'll reconnect to the charger tomorrow for a couple of hours and then see if that's done the trick.....Fingers crossed that it's worked.

Love sunny day again, and not as chilly as yesterday. After setting up the battery charger we has a walk down and around a local woodland reserve. They've inserted a one way system around the narrowest footpaths so as to aid with the separation limits. Lots of Bluebells and Ransom out, plenty of birds singing in the trees, say our first Swallow, and a Kingfisher and heard a couple of Woodpeckers drumming. We had a lovely 4 ml plus walk and will surely it again provided the weather holds.

SIL has dropped off a big bag of compost that he got for us when doing their Morrisons shopping so a day gardening beckons

OH has just done another hop over the wall to our absent holiday home owners garden, the raid this time was for asparagus...
wrong to waste it really so the deed is done. We are in contact with them by the way, so they'll get a full confession.
Just been going through last minute click and collect lists, bank etc and our postman kindly took a stamped birthday card for me which saves a trip to the box and wearing gloves just to post it. As he's in a van he'll take anything that is ready to go, the reverse of that is that if he spots you anywhere in the village you'll be handed your mail so walks can be a little tricky if you've ordered too much stuff....
It's sunny again, hope it's good where you are! ๐

trellis thank your brother on our behalf too. Keep on trucking and stay safe ๐โ๐๐๐๐๐
brue my mum's postperson took her ready to go post too, if even they weren't delivering to her. Again round is in van, she would put her post to go so it could be seen from the road as he/she went past. Saved her the walk, further than she felt comfortable with after her stroke, and saved her having to cross in foot or in the car the main road on a nasty junction, where, despite 30 mph, the vehicle 'flew' through the village.
milliehull delighted to hear you've got a compost delivery enjoy your gardening.
It seems sad that the supermarkets can sell plants compost etc whilst the self owned nursery's are closed. Our local one started deliveries by phone or email quite early on. Then had to close whilst they caught up with orders ๐ as its only father, mother and son doing it all. They said folks we acting very badly whilst they were open not maintaining social distancing before they had to close and they were worried for their staff. They'll be putting their bedding plants on fb soon, I don't know if they'll be able to re-employ some staff to assist? It was a fiver for delivery but I was happy to pay as their prices and 3 for 2 remained whilst other worldwide online traders were upping their prices ๐ค. Several other nursery's are doing similar but some want ยฃ50 minimum order ๐ฑ and they're only listing bedding plants!
Another glorious day here if a little breezy, I am actually planting my pots out as no rain forecast for the foreseeable future. I've got my compost delivery so they're really getting the treatment with transplanting, I hope they repay me well ๐. I'll give them an individual drink when I've planted them all and I've already told OH he'll need to water everywhere late afternoon. Well that's morning tea over so back to it.
Stay safe

Another lovely day here, washing machine on to use the solar power, fans running again.
OH was just saying that this must be the best April Caravanning weather up here for quite a few years......isn't it just typical that we are all stuck at home!

Hope the battery works Nellie. Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday.
Normal routine at the moment for us today. Get up, have shower, go for walk, do an hour's work, have lunch.
Just transferred our cash ISA away from Nationwide who have slashed their rate from 1st.May, to less than 20% of its original rate. Along with doing away with the interest rate on their Flex Plus Account I can't see how they can be promoting themselves as a Society "for members" at the present time.

Has anyone seen this, with regards to basic food deliveries? I know that Aldi deliver non food items and some have mentioned garden products and plants on here. So I had a look at the Aldi web site and this came up.

Out at 8am this morning and drove the car for the first time in a month. Successful shopping trip, got amongst other stuff compost and food shopping got flour so looking forward to homemade cakes again. Whilst in the shop car parks I noticed a mobile CCTV van driving around.
Lovely sunny day here although we have an Easterly wind which makes it a big chilly1 -
On the subject of masks have you seen this?
I must have posted it on here as it's in resize folder! But it might have been on any thread. Who knows?

We are in the process of looking to transfer our ISA's like you we are currently with Nationwide, not only have they cut their ISA's they have cut their Loyalty account rate and the Flex Regular saver.
We've been with them over 35 years but need to find another provider. Would you mind sharing who you found
Lovely sunny day but chilly out until this afternoon. So I've been inside making more washable material face masks, 7 made this morning.
This afternoon after our walk, we set about making face shields. The Men's shed are still working away with theirs but I came up with a quick design using a sheet of acetate, some strips of memory foam, two sided tape and some half inch wide elastic. Works a treat made 9 so far but run out of elastic
that will be 9 happy careers

Hi TG
I transferred ours to Shawbrook Bank. Had and still have a few things with them. As we've been customers for a while we do get a bit more in an Easy Access account that has rainy day money in it. It's a bit better rate than the current best. If necessary I transfer money into that whilst looking around but I wanted to keep a cash ISA going so just did a transfer. We split the years between 1 & 2 so we can have something expiring next year. Always like to know there's something maturing in the next 12 months.
Still undecided what we're going to do with the Flex Plus. At the moment it's still just viable as the additional premium wanted for my health is still reasonable. I'm sure this virus will shake that tree.
Best of luck.

Thanks WN much appreciated, OH looked at Shawbrook but doesn't have any experience of them, good to hear from someone who has.
Know what you mean about the Flex Plus, we keep looking at that to but as you said for know it works. We don't have any extra to pay on holiday insurance other than the extension if going over 31 days. Next year will be the last time for us though as OH is 70 next July and they charge I think ยฃ65 for over 70's we also use their breakdown cover and mobile phone cover which as you know comes with the account.
Post Coronavirus who knows what will happen, not to mention Brexit
