Condolences from me Richardandros too. We've just had a bereavement this morning and our eldest daughter is having to cope with the "non" funeral arrangements etc. So that was my early morning phone call and no doubt a lot more as back up. I'm going to check things now as much has to be done electronically without contact.

Millie you can tune into Sounds on your pc/laptop when you set up a password to sign in.

Another lovely day, even more strange for us, stay well all of you.

Dull here today.  OH contemplating a quick trip to a shop as we are all out of veg and eggs, and getting low on milk and butter.

A beautiful clear blue sky down here this morning. Have been out with the dogs,  but, boy was Madame Kirkwood right when she warned of high levels of tree pollen. So my hay fever is in full "sneezing every few seconds" mode. frown

My Cinnamon Trust walk takes me along a stretch of the river Avon and I managed to take this rather nice view this morning. Does anyone recognise this from the opening credits of a long running BBC programme?

Absolutely, ADD, and thank you.  Under normal circumstances we would have been dashing to Hampshire sometime soon, so that Ros could support her sister, but that's not possible. At least they can talk on the phone.

    Dull here to Kj.

We went out this morning for shopping at  08.45 only 3 different households today. Decided to try Asda for a change, they had most things available lots of items restricted in choice ie only 2 types of apples, 1 choice of lettuce etc.

We didn't have to queue to get in but once inside it was a nightmare, despite the loudspeaker system advising folk to adhere to the guidelines and the one way system.

Folk were wandering around not keeping their distance and even staff members doing the online shopping going the wrong way and then leaning over you to pick items off the shelves yell on one isle while I was waiting for the person in front of me to move on  chap came up behind me  "scuse me" then tried to get to the shelf next to me surprised I explained that I was 'social distancing' as per the advise and he should be doing likewise. His response was "I'm not bothered if I get it I get it"  yell

On coming out the store the chap who is supposed to be controlling the amount of folk going in was so busy chatting to folk in the queue to get in, he didn't see folk coming out as he had his back to them.

We were only in the store about 15 mins but it will be along time before I venture back again.

Kind thoughts to you both R&R, no matter how expected things might be, itโ€™s still a shock, and made doubly distressing by not being able to support loved ones.

Thank you, Bakers2, Brue and TTDA  for your kind words which I will pass on to Ros. And Brue, our thoughts are with you and your daughter at this sad time.  It just seems so much worse given the circumstances we are all living in.  I know we all have to remain positive and we are determined to do so - but things like this make that quite difficult.

Another lovely day here, little or no wind so very warm.  Had morning walk along the river and down to the beach.  Plenty of activity on the quayside.  Supply boat the Vos Patriot had just finished offloading and preparing to load for another trip to offshore drilling rigs. The structures behind the ship are jackets removed from the old Philips Hewett Gas Field.  Two have been dismantled and recycled so 4 more to go.  The white tanks hold drilling liquids

We walked by Morrison's on our way home and the queue was right round the car park.  If we go it's usually about 5.30 pm and there is no one around. I don't understand why people want to go so early and queue?

OH now had  a lovely donation from a local computer shop of the plastic material that is used in 3D printing.

The Men's shed are 3D printing the face shield headbands used by NHS and other front line workers. They only have a small printer but are able to make 5 or 6 headbands a day. Struggled to get the materials but now with a donation its all system go. The acetate fronts are also difficult to get hold of but now managing to get some.

The Men's shed are intending to distribute these locally to the Dr's surgery, pharmacy, local care home and the local carers who are working within the village. Once this is done they will then spread their net wider.

Itโ€™s something to do OP. You go, you queue, you moan about queuing! It used to be quite a common phenomena outside of Post Offices on Thursday mornings, and on what was know as Giro dayโ€™s. I think Pension day used to be Mondayโ€™s. Then the local supermarkets were busy those mornings with folks stocking up, spending their pension and Giro! ๐Ÿ˜

    Interesting photo๐Ÿ‘

Thatโ€™s good news TG. We have seen something about producing face shields using plastic bottles as well. Great community help project.

Very old, and very non-PC joke from that era [it's ok, 'cos it was told tome by an Area Home Care Manager ...]

Q 'What's 100 yards long and smells of pee?'

A 'The Post Office Pension Queue' sealed

Probably explains why the Government switched to direct Bank Transfer ...

Do let us know what you think.

I'd love a day of no cooking, not keen on cooking and 40 plys years bit tiredof thinkibg and shopping then cooking, whoops scrub the middle one ๐Ÿ˜‚and OH only eats certain things sealed. That way we could both have what we like. Local pubs and restaurants are doing deliveries so might consider that. Sadly I'm getting a bit OCD with whose handled and prepared in a factory there are strict protocols.

Meant to enjoy the sun and my book again today, about to start on the 3rd in a trilogy - very good. Robert Gooddard wide world trilogy. However the secateurs called and I'm halfway through another ๐Ÿ˜ฒ shrub Tudy up. Brown bin half full.

Had to put my chair in the shade to eat my lunch, 22c in the shade and a bit mighty for sitting in this early in the year. Cracking blue sky little breeze beautiful blossom and birdsong. I think Easter weather will tease us all and get its own back for the years we've been free to go out and the weather hadn't cooperated๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Edit had another email from the storage place where we kept our motorhome,  it expires end of May and they don't to refunds, we did know when signing up but refuse to give them the opportunity of 'double letting' requesting not to go and to observe social distancing if you have to. Maybe they should just lock it right down?

What a smashing thing to do TG. Give him and the other shed men lots of Brownie points.smile

Lovel;y early morning walk followed by a bit of work on the drive, filling in bits of sand that's missing. Got a bit too hot after a while.

Mrs WN had to drive to town to pick up MiLs meds from Pharmacy. She said that whilst more people were beginning to keep their distance there were some still not bothering, especially a group of 4 teenagers who needed a policeman to sort them out. They thought it a bit of fun.

Condolences to those who have lost loved ones.. There will probably be quite a bit of those unfortunately.frown

OH had a reasonably successful shopping trip to Aldi this morning.

Short 5 minute wait to get in, pretty good stocks on most shelves, no pointy peppers, cauliflowers or regular broccoli, but did get tender stem broccoli, courgettes , green beans, mini peppers and other salad items.

No shortage of milk, cheese, yogurt, or meat of all types.

No hand wash or paracetamol, but plenty of toilet rolls.  The "baking aisle" was rather bare, no flour of any type, and unfortunately no eggs, which is one thing we do need.

She thought of trying Waitrose, across the road, but the queue there was much longer so she just came home instead.

The cashiers now have screens to protect them from the customers and people were mainly following the spacing rules.

Still no sun here, very grey with some drizzle off and on.

Condolences from South Cheshire to both Richardandros and Brue.

Fully understand how tough these times can be. I had the sad trip into Crewe Crematorium this morning for funeral of a nephew. I had told the family I would go in the camper & stay therein in an obvious spot  so I did not need to enter the building but my presence would be obvious. Spoke to another family member after the Service and he told me that there were approximately TWENTY FIVE mourners in there. I was sure that I had seen numbers of five to eight quoted in the usual local publications.  Obviously I am getting more easily confused as I age.

Very best wishes to all, especially anybody who is struggling in these so very upsetting times.

    Brian

This day last year it was the summit of Helvellyn at 3116 feet, today it was Worm Hill at 269 feet. The difference in names and heights says it all reallyundecided

Still at least it was a summitsmile

Btw (for anyone remotely interested) it's called Worm Hill and it is supposedly the burial place of the 'famous' Lambton Worm, a rather large worm that was terrorising local villages but was killed by John Lambton when he returned from the crusades.

Our local Facebook page is getting very excited as the local Co-Op has today started to use these pods for local deliveries. Ordering is done on a third party App. One came through the estate today and I could see a lady waiting for it. Apparently the kids are fascinated by them!

Thanks B2 and others too. Yes it was the poorly Aunt, unexpected but a release from a rapid onset dementia. Sadly our daughter had not been able to finish certain things she was doing for her Aunt, it has all come to an abrupt end. I think it will be more difficult sorting out the paperwork as it won't be done in an office anywhere, no face to face help etc. Anyway she's got us and we can help as much as we can from a long distance.
