What are you all up to

Porridge, sliced banana and walnuts. Every day, irrespective of season. Slight variation if we run out of bananas, or if waiting for them to ripen, is to substitute rasins, one slack handful per serving.

It's all happening with shopping here!
Asda are coming this afternoon with a big shop for my daughter in law and me (slot booked a couple of weeks ago). But no flour available.
And, I registered with Shipton Mill for a delivery slot (their online shop has been closed) and I've had the email with a link to shop! A limited range of flour (they have some very esoteric ones), but we were able to get bread, SR and plain flours. Two happy bakers!
And also - Booths are trialing a "click and collect " service in three stores - one of which is ours at Kirkby Lonsdale. A limited range of 150 items. You select one of two time slots and your car details. It's brought to your boot. Someone will ring tomorrow and take payment details. So I stocked up on fruit and veg and a bit of meat. I hope it works out.
Now, time to sit and read for a bit - I've joined "Borrowbox" and have downloaded some books from the library. Dinner (Chicken Chasseur) is simmering away in the oven.

Grass cut, garden tidied and bird feeders filled. Covers removed from garden furniture and cushions arranged in Egg chair: now just waiting for "breeze" to drop off before hopefully going to sit outside with a book and radio 2π

Delivery from Boots by the postman been wiped over etc. The face cream I queued for a couple of hours to order, at least I'll have no wrinkles and no sun damage π. Actually didnt need it as fast as its come but still it's in the cupboard for now,
.
Beautiful day here πππ. Few more tasks then a chair in the sun and my book beckon π

OH was looking to see if there were any Morrison's or Tesco delivery slots in the next few weeks, nothing at Tesco in the weeks shown (up to 27/04), and their nearest click and collect store is a good distance away.
At Morrison's there were over 25000 people in the queue just to get onto the website!
Looks like she may have to go out herself in a few days.

Mystery items in our farm shop veggie box...covered in mud so will investigate later, two last week were little turnips but these look like sweet potatoes?! ....π₯π₯ Some items are grown on their organic fields. Made a nice big pot of veggie soup this morning and now for thoughts on the carrot glut as more have arrived...π₯π₯π₯( we have to accept random fruit and veg in the boxes) Very nice though, will continue with these if we can.
It's absolutely true what you said yesterday WN, we're all in Labrador world, food and walks.

Sweet potatoes are delicious as Jackets. Scrub, oil, herb outside, they donβt take as long as ordinary spuds, marvellous with blue cheese and tuna. Cut knobby ends off as wellπ Good as wedges as well.π you can stuff them as well.......

Don't know if it's the same where you are K, but here Tesco release there slots on a daily basis at midnight. Tonight's release will be for the 28th April. They usually all seem to be gobbled up in the first hour. If no home deliveries perhaps you can get a click and collect. At our Extra they have a dedicated place at the far side of the car park, so you don't have to enter the store.
Lovely sunny day and blue sky here. Done my bit of DIY for today, so the forest beckons for our hours walk this afternoon.π

The Guardian has a 'filler piece' article on using the lockdown to carry out those repairs/adjustments to household fittings that we never quite get around to doing.
One item is making a draft excluder; the BTL comments are really good and witty [unless you are a pet lover! Think 'Tom & Jerry' cartoon footage ...].
The best BTL comment is:
'On the subject of excluding draughts, another useful tip. Anyone who has a disused cat flap in their house will vouch for the fact that it will often blow open, sending a gale through the kitchen.
Finally fix this annoying problem by firmly wedging a fat old cat into the opening (you'll probably come across one sooner or later on your exercise walk β the fluffy sort work best). If necessary, use a handy frying pan to drive it into place ...'
The reply completed the suggested finishing off routine, by applying caulk to the tiny gaps around the cat to ensure a perfect seal...
Kjell, is this a DIY tip for you?

I've reached the age and condition where a 1kg tub of polyfilla ready mixed paste works better ... If only Oil of Olay was available in a 25 litre drum ...

We have registered and will keep looking. Apparently no reasonably nearby store does click and collect, ours is a fairly small store. However OH just remembered where there is an Extra store within a 10 minute drive, but it did not come up when she tried to find nearby stores.
Will get her to check again

Dropped the week-ends magazines in for an Elderly Female relative of my acquaintance then finished the morning off with a stroll round ASDA !!
Followed the signs to the entrance and got waved straight in by the Commissionaire {
}. Got all the way round the store and added myself to the end of a Queue Then KaBooM read the list again to find only One item missing and that was the very top one ---> EGGS you Muppet EGGS !! So out of the queue and halfway back round the store to find EGGS -- plenty of 'em so back into the queue only to find it had grown markedly. Still I like that part of the shopping experience 'cos I've got the goods and { for a few minutes at least } I've got the money as well !!
A stroll round the carpark since I was not rushing due to the car parks in Crewe being FREE at present, then a gentle drive home and unloading. Cup of coffee and a biscuit (
) only disturbed by the doorbell which was a Visiting Nurse waving meds and a Sharps' Bin at me
. Thankfully She had come to the wrong address so I got back to my guilty biccy cheerfully.
Started doing some serious Fridge n freezer defrosting but too soon in the day to make best use of the ice -- must put a label on the fridge n freezer doors for future reference
Back later, so please look after your selves and stay safe !!

Grand-daughter rang this morning to say she was waiting in a queue outside B&M and she had spotted that they had 20 litre bags of topsoil, did we want one - yes please! She arrived about an hour later. We had put the wheelbarrow in our front drive so she put it in there and stood by the gate and we had a lovely social distanced chat. Double whammy - a bag of topsoil for our potting up and seedlings with the added bonus of seeing our grand-daughter - a good day
As they have only just moved into their new house and have no garden furniture we lent her 2 garden chairs and the outside table from our caravan as we won't be needing them anytime soon.

Sunny day, mainly, again, house nicely warmed up as yesterday, so hopefully will not need the CH on again tonight.
Have helped OH clear out a big cupboard in the other kitchen, so I am now allowed to use it to store my turned wooden items in, which will then release some cupboard space downstairs. OH now threatening consequences if I do not make a start on my tidying!

Beautiful sunny day but certainly not sitting out in the sun type of day, its still far to chilly even out of the persistent wind. Nice and warm in the green house though, so might just clear it out and sit there
as you can tell we don't have a conservatory
Had a lazy day again today, still had a headache this morning when getting up. Not a good night sleep again last night, thankfully it seems to be going now but still feeling tired. I'm upping my water intake as that can help headaches.
We did go for our walk this afternoon, not so many out today.
My sister tells me she has been successful to in getting delivery slots, she has been waiting for one for over 3 weeks now, due on the 14th April, she has now got 3 more lined up with Morrisons, 1 each week from now. I told her to check Iceland, she didn't know they did delivery's so has now registered with them as it seems they do deliver to her address.
While out walking this afternoon we saw a Sainsbury delivery van, delivering in the village, as we don't have a Sainsbury store (just a tiny one in town) it was a surprise to see they deliver here so have told sister to check them out to.
BIL still hasn't had a letter from the Government so I've advised them to ring his Dr's surgery tomorrow to advise them of that. Someone in the village here mentioned on FB that they have not had a letter, yet are in the 'at risk' group according to the Gov website, so they rang the surgery here and got told by the receptionist they are far to busy to be making up lists
don't think the lady was very happy.
Great to hear that Bakers and TDA have managed to get shopping slots and that brue has now won the lottery and has lots of veg
brue I often freeze carrots when I have lots, I also freeze peppers and onions. Saw on TV yesterday that you can freeze cheese.
Well done to millie to for getting soil, my neice told us that you can order it from B&Q and do a click and collect, might give that a try.
Stay safe and well folks

Been a lovely sunny day here today so we have spent time out in the garden. Got the BBQ all cleaned so we cooked on that tonight first time in months and as usual it was wonderful. Now just sitting up in the summer house reading a magazine. Really beginning to feel like spring now.

Had a lovely chat with my friend who lives in East Ayrshire our 3rd whilst she walks, I know where the hills are, her breathing changes ππ. It's really lovely as I know where she's walking so it's very nice. I'm locked in and her husband isn't up to them all these days. Today's took 1.75 hours, not that we chatted that long and was 11400 steps. All that exercise and no effort! We passed highland cattle and lambs views were great too slightly too hazy to see Arran and I have photos to prove it!
Once my exercise was over I pottered, oiling all the hinges on our windows π.
It was so lovely that I gave myself the rest of the day off, sat watching the birds in the bird bath. I'm almost certain we have baby birds from the chripping. Sat in the sun, very little wind today, and read before preparing dinner. π
Tammygirl funny you should say about waking with a headache, I have for the last 3 or 4 days and increasing my water intake, hasn't helped and it does go during the morning. Sometimes my throats a bit dry/sore and have the odd sneeze and I'm beginning to wonder if I have a touch of hayfever??? I'm trying not to be overly concerned as this is day 19 of self isolation π€

No, our two huge Tesco donβt offer it.

If it was, it would refer to our favourite Cornish CLπ Although the choice there was usually, cereal and toast and coffee!
Still warm loaf from little local shop, freshly made lemon curd from a roadside honesty box, PYO fruit on cereal................
All a dream at the moment.π’

Our local mid sized Tescos do a C&C yet on the last 3 or 4 trips (I drive and wait in the car whilst Mrs WN does the virus russian roulette run) I've yet to see a single customer collect anything yet their website says no available slots.
I bet they have cut back to accommodate more Home Deliveries. If they have then the least they should do is advise you on their website. You can't have wall to wall C&C slots unavailable if you actually fulfilling orders and not have anyone turn up in the one hour I'm usually there for. Pre virus days the truck would be waiting before its its alloted time for the customer.
Very happy for Ttda and Bakers btw. Harrumph.π

I got a slot, but getting the goods ordered is an entirely different ball gameπ

We've had another couple of fine warm days in the trot. Yesterday I cleaned all the guttering, barge and fascia boards and then had a 5 ml walk in the afternoon.
Today we drove through to Westmoreland General Hospital for my DEXA scan, which went well with the results positive, although close to the limit on one function. It seems that I'm not getting enough calcium. In my diet, so will have to look to increase that. I don't like milk so am a bit limited in my diary intake. Daughter suggested that I try Lemon flavoured yogurt although I just admit that I don't really fancy it. My BMI was 23 so that was fine too. We then went for a walk over The Helm, and we think that we overlooked Goldie's farm.

Just caught up with all today's post, and thanks for the kind words.
I think I saw Goldie's Asda delivery van as we turned to descend off The Helm at about 1:00 or so!
