What are you all up to

Hi Steve, yes I saw that the other day on FB, one of my DIL's shared it.
It looks to be something that might be of help to some but for those that are not allowed out not a lot of help.
The cynical in me thinks it won't be long before some of the greedy brigade empty them.

OH has a list of folk in the village that has been classed as vulnerable, others on the development trust have similar lists. Each will receive a phone call every other day to make sure they are ok or to ask if they need anything collecting.
In 30 years of living here I've never known so much social good will.

Waitrose shopping arrived early, driver rang at 18.18 to say he was in the area, were we able to accept order early? So that was good.
All stashed away, dates on chilled items were pretty good, so a few things kept out to use, rest in freezer.
Potatoes had a date of tomorrow, but not a problem, we will use them as required, though will take us a good while to get through 3kg!
Cheese and cold meat also had good dates, so all in all an OK experience

Spoke to DD and Callum on FaceTime earlier, he wanted to see "big pappa". Little pappa is a Lego figure, who along with his other figures, lives in his Duplo house, which used to belong to his Mummy.
We had a chat about what he had been doing today, which included seeing some tractors, and the rabbit, which has moved into their back garden. We think it may be an "escapee" as it is quite tame, but despite posting on local FB pages, nobody has claimed it. Come summer, the rabbit poo on the lawn will be a problem!

A newish charity locally, cool to be kind, has had a community bench outside one of the heavily involved guys house. Stuff left by those we want to, I've only learnt this since we've been locked in 😉, as not on my route to the shops or town unless I detour. No issues with greed until the last week. A whole commercial size sack of potatoes taken as an item - previously folk had help themselves to a few a piece 😲 and the day before yesterday the entire contents of the bench stripped. Apparently someone tried it again today but was seen and challenged.

Now that is a good idea, own basket. I still have my lovely wicker basket that we all had to have for our Cookery classes at school! I might just give it a try.👍

I suppose because everything has been rushing off the shelves all the "use by dates" should be quite good as everything is new. Never understood why they put them on fresh veg as I would have thought the eyes were a better guide.

Our eldest son had a tumour removed from his pituatury gland 10 years ago and has been on steroids and thyroxin since. He has just been contacted by his GP surgery to tell him that he is high risk and must self isolate for 12 weeks so we are all feeling a bit worried and concerned.
0 -
Oh dear Millie, worrying for you. But it’s doable, I am sure he will have all the love and support he will need. By self isolate, do they mean totally on his own, or can a family member be there with him through it, sticking to the same stringent living conditions?

OMG milliehull thoughts are with you all.
Life is more than a bit roller coaster again for lots of us isn't it? Delighted you have heating and hot water one moment and this the next.
I'd be interested if he's high risk because of previous tumour or being on Thyroxine, I'm on it 😲 but not because if a tumour.
I hope your OH is OK now or is the anemia still an issue?
Oh takethedogalong I never thought alone I assumed similar to other vulnerable. Mighty tough go do it alone assuming that is possible 🤔

Sorry you have this worry on your mind Millie, do hope your son keeps well.
The latest advice from our medical centre is to sleep alone if possible...well I've been practicing that already. Our new dog wakes in the night if I get up (play time at 2am isn't much fun!
) So OH has the dog and I'm on my own! OH says he never sleeps well but in reality he does, I'm not missing the snoring, so that's one good thing.

Thoughts and prayers with you all.

And the same from me too, Millie. Hope that all turns out well.

Belated Happy Birthday to MIL from us, WM. We were in Aldi this morning and I asked the girl on the till about the change to £45, and was told it won't be till next week for them. There has to be an adjustment made to their computers for it to accept the extra charge.

Thanks everyone for your very kind thoughts. I have just video called him and he is getting his head round it. He has been working from.home for 10 days anyway..He will sleep in the spare room and use a separate bathroom, he will also eat separately.. 10 year old grandson upset as he.likes a kiss and cuddle from.his Dad at bedtime. He will also miss their daily dog walks but needs must and he is resigned to it.
Bakers2 as far as we understand it is because the steroida suppress his immune system. Also I think he ticks too many boxes. OH says it is probably a tick box system
Robsail thoughts and good wishes to you and your family.
Take care and keep safe everyone.

Urology consultant also rang this afternoon and is happy with his latest blood test so appointment for Friday afternoon now cancelled. So relieved. Hope all is OK with you and your OH

Sorry to hear about your son Millie, it must be a worry for you all. He’s taking the right advice so hopefully all will be well. We are trying hard to self isolate as we are both in a higher risk group, fingers crossed is all any of us can do. Our son also has his own problems he was made redundant in January and hasn’t found any other work so far and, of course, he won’t get anything now for heaven knows how long 😢 so he’s finding things very tough and worrying. His wife is self employed too so that’s on a knife edge. If anyone needs an accountant? What a horrible start to 2020 with all these unforeseen problems. Take care everyone.

Kind thoughts to all out there with tough issues. 💕

+1 from me as well, MillieH.
As you say it's almost certainly the Steroids & what they do to the system.
I've been on levothyroxine for some time now along with the diabetes meds etc etc altho Clinic Sister just told me to 'take care' when she did the "Phone call Review" yesterday.
Incidentally Thyroxine replacement is supposed to be one of the most widely prescribed meds in the U S of A with 114 MILLION prescriptions but over what time period I am not aware.
Very Best wishes to your lad, Millie and to all others who are having hard times at present .

That makes sense.
We're doing ok thanks, friends and neighbours are great. Our son repaying it back by doing similar where he lives. What goes around comes around 😉
Glad your OH doing well, after a course of B12 injections my OH has needed no more, in fact I was surprised to learn, at a recent just before the lockdown, from the community cardiac nurse that it is a very good level in the mid range, I can't remember the exact number right now. He says the 'ghe professional's' call my Lazarus - many a true word spoke in jest. Yesterday it was a year since he had an ICD fitted and tomorrow the same from west 😉 discharge. At the last remote check up ICD hadnt been called into any sort of action 😀. Fingers crossed for next consultation which was to be in the flesh but now remote. The monitor for the ICD makes an interesting ornament and the dongle flashes gently and reassuringly.
I echo takethedogalong good wishes for all with additional tough issues in the current situation.
Right time to peg the bedding out and begin the bedroom blitz. Spring cleaning on steroids 😂.
Edit I wasn't aware that we, that's OH and i 😉, should be sleeping separately. Must have missed that bit. He says he'll take his chances and we stay as were are

We did that last week OP, as you say quite a haul!😁
I am steeling myself to empty the bottom of our big bathroom cupboard. It doubles up as towel storage, as well as somewhere to store bath time goodies and beautification stuff! I suspect this might yield some gems too. Couple of first aid kits in there as well.......
Then there is the caravan up at Mums............🤔 That will have some goodies in it if they haven’t fossilised by now!

I have just cleared out the cupboard in our main bathroom this morning TDA and found 4 packets of paracetamol!! What am I bid 😂
2 -
Ah, now I have a good stock of paracetamol. It’s something I always carry, having had an excruciating dental abscess one holiday years ago in Cornwall. Back in the days of quiet Sundays. It took a cottage hospital in Fowey, a small hospital in St Austell, a trip to Treliske Hospital in Truro, and finally across to Newquay to the only Pharmacy open on a Sunday to get my prescription! Since that day, I have come to recognise that if you live close to a big hospital, it takes some getting used to just how different things can be in areas like Cornwall. Hence we always have a first aid kit (probably more extensive than usual) in the car or MH, and I always have Paracetamol in my handbag or rucksack. We carry a decent doggy first aid kit as well.
I love the restrictions on buying paracetamol. It’s one of those crazy ideas that just doesn’t work. 😂

Our mobile first aid kit ['FA'] is 'Traveling Apothecary meets Military Field Hospital' but is spread between different locations and modes of transport! 2 FAs carried on the bikes [mozzie repellent, germolene, plasters, scissors and bandages] spare aspirin carried in the ubiquitous 'ruckie' so that I can take a lunchtime pill if we're ot and about; caravan kit FA same basis but with paracetamol and wider range of plasters, including those large hospital style jobbies that last 3 or 4 days because I am prone to getting bitten by horse flies et al who see my ankle varicose veins site and think it's a mobile BBQ.
FA in car, backed up by one that travels between Scotland and France to top up with ointments, creams etc. And a final FA in the Barn bathroom of our hovel in France, because that's the closest to my woodworking kit so lots of 'Sweeney Todd kit for those chisel cuts or surform grazes. And the head bangs from a couple of low doorways

My wife has a good idea of whether it's a plaster or just an antiseptic wipe job by the volume of my Anglo Saxon vocabulary and the length of its delivery ...

Another shopping trip survived
this time we shopped for 3 others and ourselves.Managed to get everything but SR Flour for my elderly neighbour, I'm on a promise to get some this afternoon though from the village wee store

Aldi had hand sanitiser in
that's the first time I've seen it since being back. Freezer's topped up in Aldi, Asda and Iceland, no social distancing needed in Iceland, I had it ALL to my self (apart from 2 staff members) drove past Morrisons and they were queuing out the door, most appeared to be in the above 50's age range. The Range as we drove past was the same folk queuing up outside. Strange some of the things that are scare on the shelves, cooking oil I noticed was very little stock. Asda had no eggs at all, first time I've seen that, Aldi had plenty though as did Iceland. Things like hand cream and face cream not as plentiful as normal.
Thankfully there was no shortage of fresh meat, poultry, milk, bread, fruit and veg. All the 3 stores I went in had a good stock of these items. Cheese is getting scare, trying to find cheddar that is not Extra Mature is getting to be a challenge.
So that is is us for another week, should find out by then if we are still healthy and able to go out again. These next 2 weeks are seemingly going to be the most dangerous.
Stay safe and well everyone and don't forget to CLAP tonight for the NHS
