Had several emails today, one from Norfolk Wildlife Trust to say that reception buildings at Cley, Weeting Heath, Hickling etc are now closed.   You will still be able to access the reserve

Yes, I’ve received that email, too. Seems all the hides will also be closed.

We can't self isolate and we already "work from home" (albeit outside and in the farm buildings). We have one non family farm worker and have discussed with him  what we can do if one of us is infected.

I did a normal big weekly shop on Sunday, and hope to do the same this coming Sunday. I also have an order coming from Asda next Tuesday and the week after. Is this like "block booking"?

The freezer is full of food, mainly meat and cooked meals. The cupboard is full of dry goods - but all this is normal. I don't like to ever run out.

We also have a very large stock of wine, gin and whisky.

And soap - I'm a hoarder of nice soap. And it lasts longer if it's older. I think.

We've 10 gigs booked from next week to December. Two are definitely cancelled and I expect more will follow.

Just had a lovely WhatsApp phone call with eldest son and grandson. So great to 'see ' them as well as speak to them. Jess the dog was very confused. Every time she heard our voices she ran to their front door as she thought we were there!!

We have been WhatsApping as well!

Glorious Spring day here today. A warm 15c mid day, so a nice isolated stroll with pooch, then afternoon in garden for me. OH has stocked up on DIY materials for his man cave/cycling pit!

    Funny sort of day here!

Late start embarassed. Promised myself I'd garden, finally got out there after 3pm 😱.

Spend yesterday evening researching dishwashers, the seal on ours has gone at the bottom and I noticed a small crack in the ?laminate? Door where water is obviously coming through. Don't know what KjNelln complaining about his towel rail was 32 years old! This one is only just years old. Mind you never been impressed with it! Was going to walk to local store to look at them physically but decided to phone the self owned shop who fitted the kitchen. Fabulous service, told him which I fancied, he discussed them all and called back with prices of supply remove and replace taking away the old. Gave me time to check out what he offered. Made my mind up whilst on our walk, see next paragraph, ordered by phone once we were home. Should be fitted within a week - same kitchen fitter as fitted our kitchen 8 years ago!

We walked to Tesco, milk, porridge still none but evidence that there had been on the shelves! I popped in yesterday and only that quick cook porridge then but just clear shelf. Thought I'd buy some potatoes laugh out loud no old potatoes but I did manage to buy 8 jacket potatoes. Luckily I picked up new potatoes yesterday.

Had lunch dropped my tablet face down on the conservatory floor and had a bad feeling 😱 worse than I feared very little of the screen not crazed. Walked into town, not got one in stock! Ordered and it will be in late morning, he'll ring and I'll take it in and he'll fit it.

Not been a cheap day! Yesterday I booked someone to come and treat the grass for weeds and generally maintain. Best value was to agree to DD he could have treated on the day but OH cut it Sunday rather low so it will be next week now. Can cancel at anytime and if treatments exceed DD's I pay balance and if the other way round they refund. Only looking to get it back in shape so once scarifying and aeration and couple of treatments have been successful I'll review. Sadly too big an area for me in top of everything else and OH not up to it. Still I'm doing my bit for stimulating the economy πŸ˜‚

Enjoyed my couple of hours gardening, but was very butterfly about it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Because I remembered its brown bin day Thursday so I pruned in earnest and filled 2 bins from a standing start. OH a bit horrified as he likes lots of cover - can't stick it back on πŸ˜‰

Whilst cooking dinner I tried to be clever and return a phone call. Used the telephone list but over pressed by one and got OH's cousin in error. Good laugh generally - shes doing WW2 rationing with her year 6 tomorrow, she thinks they'll be one of the first years she taught it too that will have some concept and appreciation πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Sad to read holidays curtailed and of those who can't yet return. It certainly is strange times we're living in. Very surreal, like living a storyline in a book but I don't return to my normal world when I put it down!

Take care and stay safe folks!

Edit we heard today that we lost out on the dog we applied for 😒. Will keep looking - wonder if meeting/collecting constitutes essential travel? That said I need to check mums before too long too.

Scary stuff ain't it? All the jobs you've managed to avoid with decent excuses....... I'm as guilty as the next of this and it's an unpleasant thought that I may just have to knuckle under 😱

I think next shortages will be in DIY stores as we who are confined to barracks panic buy πŸ˜‚

It's on my list of things OH has to do laughing

Hoping DIY outlets don't close before we get chance to do some buying of supplies.

If we are going to stay at home this year then I  think I will be growing some veg smile

Just seen that Tesco and Asda have decided to stop their 24hr shops until further notice, new hours are 6am to 10pm surprised so if we do get home on Thursday night we will now not be able to get shopping on the way home frown can't say I  blame them. At least now they will be able to fill shelves overnight.

Spent a short while with aged sister this morning -- she's more than capable of lying in her teeth about her condition  yell  so F 2 F is necessary since her daughter has gone to her daughters to resume 'Cody A ' sitting { at her advanced age surprised } checked sis is A O K  and departed to Morrisons. Was not quite the oldest  in there tho' probably the greyest embarassed Got all I needed and a few jars for sis. Every till operating but for one which had just closed for comfort break, minimum of 5 big trolleys queuing  per till, but no pasta, tissues, bog rolls to be seen. Took the bits n bobs back to sisters, got rollocked 'cos I did not tell her how much she owed me. So I've got to return on Thursday for the cups of coffee in lieuimage

Trust I've not caught anything and that you all are at least as chirpy as my 89 year old sister is. I feel so sorry for Alfie, her cat --  seems he's going to bear the problems of  the aged grumpy one wink

Careful which dishwasher you choose. Our first was a Neff, only lasted 27 years......replaced with a Smeg, didn’t last a year😑 replaced under guarantee, second one didn’t last 6months🀬Money back, and we promptly bought another Neff. Seven years so far, trouble free and currently rattling nicely. My Coronavirus nightmare in terms of supplies is running out of dishwasher tablets!😱

Fortunately I have DD's house to keep me busy......as long as we are not confined at home!

SIL is a terrible hypochondriac, this morning he woke with a tickly throat and was convinced he had Coronavirus.  DD took his temperature, which was normal, and sent him to work, he is a teacher.

He then had to discuss it with his Mum, who told him much the same.

This evening, on return from school, he looked and sounded fine, but he insisted on having his temperature checked again, you can imagine his panic when it was 38.4!  DD gave him 2 paracetamol and he is back to normal again.

Spent the day installing a new radiator, it was very heavy so had to get DD to help lift it.  Tomorrow I should get both the new radiators connected up.  Having been under the floor, again, I have found a new water leak which I will need to trace the source of, and discovered there is no insulation under the floor of the 4th bedroom.

Before we left to come home OH showed Callum how to elbow bump, which of course he thought was hilarious, and had to try out several times.

Thanks takethedogalong SMEG wasn't offered but I had looked at it. Friend had one of the their built in ovens I recalled and that wasn't great so I discarded that one fairly early on.

Guy at kitchen shop suggested 3 which he says are all the same as regards workings so my choice, he could order cheaper ones if I liked but didn't have same supply chain - I declined and opted for the cheapest for supply, remove, fit and take away. Β£180 max between the 3. Said start with cheaper and go up in price order if they couldn't get it. Now await delivery and fit date.

Daughter in NZ sent photos of her local supermarket never sent so many folk in there at once,  don't forget it's relative too and empty shelves. Samoa has got it courtesy of some from from NZ so I reckon Pacific Islanders will now quarantine too. First tourist who appeared not to have self quarantined spoken to,.arrested and if they don't leave the country immediately after 14 days will be deported. I think they mean business! Also article about a kiwi who has caught and recovered from the virus living in London. Her colleagues and flatmates all got it too, all OK, but she didn't know where she'd caught it. Fell asleep at her desk,  went home BUT still went out to the pub with said folks in the evening....... Her description made it sound like a nasty time and she urged folk to remember it can affect anyone.

Will go to do my normal shopping this morning who knows if they'll be stock?

Had an email from the club a few minutes ago, huge surprise, telling me KjellNN had posted on this thread. Haven't had anything like that for years and years. What an odd site this is πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    Stay safe folks

Got up ready for the cider apple pruners to arrive, now told it's tomorrow but have our other gardening help this morning. She does a couple of hours twice a month and it makes a difference. Don't suppose we'll have the open gardens as planned, but you never know so will carry on...

Made plans for on line prescriptions, so hoping that's sorted. We have mostly elderly neighbours, some in poor health so I think the village community is going to gather help together.

Extra dog arrived early, new dog totally relaxed about him now, new dog has put on weight which is good, she was a bit too thin when she arrived. Sorry about your dog news B2, there will be one for you, we had nearly given up when we had a call. smile

Nice to hear the WNs and the Nellies met up.

I assume for that price it is an integrated appliance? We have just had a Neff fitted in our new kitchen, all our previous dishwashers have been Bosch. Neff,Bosch,Siemens are all the same company of course. What persuaded me towards the Neff was that it had a one hour 60 degree wash which we use for almost everything!

We sent all our family a WhatsApp photo of our four bog rolls found too low on a shelf for those of a certain girth to bend over and find! 😁 Prioritising here at the moment, pooch needs more food, I am stocking up on compost and OH is setting up bikes on rollers up in attic!

Rang local pharmacy ** to see if my insulin pen needles had been sourced. Oh yes ABM I can see them on the shelf now, Fine sez I With you in 5 mins. Err before you go Tell us your fone number, then we will be able to ring you when future prescriptions are filled and ready.

    Toddled in and found two others waiting, pinned back against the shelving, but only Notices on the doors, no Bouncers around, unlike my surgery. Got the goodies and repeat scrip request forms which I never use, nothing to sign surprised Oh no we'll do that she said as she slid the box across the counter -- caught 'em nicely - { ex -- Slip fielder / wicket keeper smile}

Trust that's all the contact any of us have with that industry for a while sealed

**  weird how I, who really detest americanisms have taken to saying Pharmacy in stead of Chemists - could there be something in the water undecided??

P.S. / Edit     Steve No problems with white bread --  just toast the stuff laughing

Just secured, after checking with brother,  3 packets of mansized tissues whilst getting OH prescription - that wasn't ready so back tomorrow, he does MIL shop she 93 and down to 2 toilet rolls none to be had where he lives and shops for ages! That will ensure he'll get some this Friday when he does her shop, he's not get many either. He's since spoken to his neighbour who was stopped by security cos she didn't have toilet rolls??? So bought 48 and gave to her daughter,  my brother now crying πŸ˜‚. We're meeting at mums tomorrow ?essential travel? To do a bit more sorting and heating guy coming to fix pump.

My mum had a good supply of toilet rolls, we divided those up and used them long before this fiasco. We also took back to the chemist 100's of paracetamol,  prescribed by her GP 100 at a time on repeat 😲😲. Could turn out that we squandered a good inheritance which may be worth more than the house πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Spoke to a neighbour who went to do her weekly shop, queued for opening at Aldi because of work commitments, counting in 100 at a time all made for 1st aisle so she thought I'll shop in reverse order.  Got 2 packets of toilet rolls for her mum and MIL. Restricted to 4 packs per customer whether 9 or 18's! Phe also picked up 4 loaves of bread too. Turned back to her trolley in another aisle to see woman taking top one 😲. Not being one to keep quite she just said to her "it's OK take it I've coughed over it". Woman didn't even looked a bashed 😒.  Neighbour has family to feed. Madness, madness, madness!

Dropped of tablet for repair and pick up some eye drops from the opticians very spooky feeling in town. Few folks about odd atmosphere. Got to go back in an hour or so to collect said tablet. Meanwhile accounts to do and more gardening I may be able to squeeze a few more bits in the brown bin πŸ˜‰.

Talking about prescriptions we had to collect Margaret's today. Went to start the car and it refused!!! Fortunately still had the loan car from the motorhome dealer so used that instead. When we got home I put the other car on charge which seemed to do the trick. The car is less than four years old and it was hardly a frosty day, almost balmy. I wonder if one of the courtesy lights had been on? Took it for a run and will check again tomorrow but very strange. Its always been OK when we have been away for three weeks!

Had a good couple of days in the garden, planted a few rows of broad beans and peas.  Brown bin full and sorted out the compost bin.  Just started to rain so that’s helpful.

Won’t be seeing the grandtwins for some time which is really sad but better to be safe

WhatsApp will be my friend with the youngest grandson who still doesn't mind talking to his Gran. wink

Sorted missing grocery with Waitrose, who kindly gave them free when OH went to the shop itself. Then started an on line order with them once more as there are no slots till mid April, finally got to the end, ready to pay and the web site conked out again. Will see how the Morrison delivery works out at the end of next week, have been trying to space them out, not expecting a delivery every week, I presume some are?

Neither of us have managed to get to B&Q yet, our DIY plans are falling behind...

Good luck with all the gardening and DIY everyone!
