What are you all up to

Have been reading about it on the BBC news site TG, hope you get your flight back sooner than later especially if most places shut down. At least you've had a break and some sunshine! Good to hear Millie and OH have got home safely.
Have been with my sister and family today, thought we'd have a get together asap as things will be changing for all of us. Much quieter on the motorway.

Following a 6 ml walk by Rutland Water two days ago and a muddy trudge yesterday OH was feeling the aftereffects, so we only did 3 mils this morning from the van. After lunch Flyte and I did about 5 mls around Exton Park, and Fort Henry Lake. Fortunately the weather stayed dry for most of the day, although the wind has got up again this evening.

We are home as well. I managed to fetch the cottage keys with me, but luckily found them filling up, in Skipton, so we just drove back and handed them over😲 Got my paws on some soap in Tesco, but no loo rolls. I just can’t get my head round folks stockpiling loo rolls....🤷♂️

Thanks WN, resting up for the afternoon has done the trick. You've no need to remind me about forgetting to mention places, I do the same thing frequently.
Glad that you've made it home ok, Tda. Forgetting to leave the keys is easily done. We left our spare set for both the car and caravan at home and only realised when we were in the North Wales, a long drive back to Cumbria to pick them up, as we were heading off on what was supposed to be 9 week trip and dare not be without them for that length of time.

We had planned a meal out last night, in a (usually) busy pub restaurant. But cancelled it (more than 72 hours notice!) and OH's brother and wife came round to our house. I did my best with a printed menu for the three courses (no choices) using food we already had in. We decided to throw caution to the wind and hugged each other. Except my brother in law demonstrated "elbow bumping" almost knocking me over in the process.
Earlier in the day we had a Hedge Planting Day. We are recreating an old hedge and have 2400 saplings to plant. Fourteen (non farming) volunteers came and helped, and fuelled by sausage buns and cake, planted about 1800. The reactions from them were brilliant - they all had a wonderful day. As my son said "ask and they will come"

Hard work Goldie, but worth it! I was listening to someone talking about tree planting on the BBC farming today programme, great to find some volunteers.
We did arm bumping with our family yesterday. The little ones thought it was fun.
We heard about the reduced contact for over 70s on our visit but will keep positive about it.

Nice story Goldie.
We were in Tesco the other day and 2 different lots of friends met each other, obviously not having seen each other for ages and they hugged and they kissed. What virus? We gave them a wide berth.
Just finishing coffee then off to a CL for a week Will try to avoid crowds. I think Nellie might be joining us later in the week so that will be good. I've asked for doctors certificates.
I'm sure he's not going to be very impressed with the advice for over 70s. They're fitter than a lot of people half their age.

Yes I was going to mention that I know a few 70+ Individuals with much greater overall fitness than some 40 year olds.
That is going to be a huge ask. UK culture doesn’t lend itself to self isolating for the elderly. Many are too isolated now as it is, and need to be motivated to eat, to drink, to move. The social interaction and bit of exercise keeps many going.

Just been talking to Daughter, she said she would get essentials if needed ,if we are asked to Isolate, and would knock and leave on step
was saying, that the national company she is transport manager for have issued all their drivers with ant bac wipes, and rubber gloves, for use on all pickups from customers, and on deliveries, must not enter premises if possible, to try to mitigate the chances of infection , leaving them short of drivers and not being able to carry out their contracted work, which as she says is quite likely ,,and will then cascade through the supply chain
She says other transport companies are having the same thoughts, if it gets as bad a some expect , as in other countries,it may mean the military having to help out

That was my concern when I heard it on tv this morning, to many folk are already suffering from loneliness and mental health issues, cutting them off for months isn't going to help.
We ard all in lockdown here, can't leave resort unless yo ho to food shops or pharmacy, its only been for the morning so far but already its causing some issues with some folk.
Can't sit by the pool or swim, can sit on patios and balconies, some are gathering in groups so making a lot of noise which is upsetting others. We are not supposed to be in groups but hey ho, no one takes any notice. Restaurants on site closed for sitting in but happy to do take away food. All restaurants on island closed as is shops other than food shops. Not allowed to go out in car, only 1 person is allowed. Public transport has been cut by 50% and must sit away from each other.
Hope they come and get us as scheduled on Thursday, won't know yet if that is happening but they did fly in yesterday with empty planes to vollect those who were due to go home. Even the sun has deserted us today

Walked to Lidl, met a lady coming back from there, she said gird you loins mad in there all 5 tills open. Wasn't too bad folk wise BUT all 5 tills still open no baskets at the door, not had time to move them from the checkouts. Some shelves empty but others a bit of stock - no one appeared to be buying more than a normal shop, but who knows if they were on 2nd or 3rd time around??😂. Certainly didn't appear to be. Bought our bits and walked home, nothing we needed couldn't be found. I expect once they can close a till or 2 they can restock the shelves!
Heard that the large Tesco just up the road had closed their carpark, the design 20 plus years ago lends itself to gridlock often in the carpark and local roads, staff used to control traffic but one got injured by an impatient driver so they stopped it. Didn't walk that way so dont know how they closed it.
It's all madness............
Our neighbourhood watch WhatsApp is active with offers should anyone have to isolate. We're a neighbourly bunch anyway and sadly only have a couple or 3 really elderly neighbours now - they're in their 80's, those who were in their 90's and 100's, lady opposite was 104 before she moved 😀, have passed away but lots of families moved in.
Grey and breezy here, still too wet to get on the grass or garden and I've run out of jobs that don't require that!
Son's MIL home, she was in Spain golfing until Monday flying into and out of Faro. They were offered chance to leave before lock down. She did and booked flight - lucky, but some stayed in Portagul they got hotel and golf course to continue. Long delay at the airport but DIL collected her and was indoors 0230 Sunday, flight should have left early evening.
Stay safe folks. Enjoy whatever you're doing and adapt to the conditions 😉

Are they each likely to need to sub divide to carry out tasks? Along with all other frontline staff, nurses doctors, police ambulance crews etc.... As we only have a limited number of all of them. They'll be exhausted and the ones isolating will be stir crazy 😂😂🤐🤐.
I'm having to be careful, we're both being sensible but I'm gregarious naturally, OH better with own company, but he needs exercise and walking but round and round the garden gets VERY boring!

We had Callum's party yesterday, about 25 people, but no hugging or kissing.
DD had ordered sausage rolls etc from M&S and sandwich platters from Morrison's, on collection, M&S was as normal, but Morrison's was manic.....car park stuffed, check out queues were half way back down the shop, which is a very large shop, people had trolleys piled high, and shelves were pretty empty in many aisles.
Some staff were in tears as customers were shouting at them demanding toilet rolls etc.......totally incredible. She said it was like Christmas but 10 times worse.
When she went to pick up the sandwiches they told her just to take them and go, no further payment was necessary due to the crowds!

Well ,the journey to the I.o.W was quite easy today, far less traffic on M2/M20/M26/M25/M27,,slow still on the 27 due to 50mpg restrictions though.Mansged to get an earlier ferry crossing, not much traffic on there either !! Took myself up into the "Signature Lounge"(which i had already booked) just me and four other people up there,,quite a change from the thronging hoards in the main areas ,no cooked food ,but complimentary coffee's and drinks ,plus an assortment of pastries,,,VERY NICE !!
.Waverley Park is quiet too but a good Sunday lunch was to be had at the " Lifeboat".
With these plans by the government to ask the over 70s to 'self isolate' ,,will i be marooned here on the I.o.W ??? !!!
.Please text me to receive my shopping orders !!

Triky
Could be a worse place to be marooned!!! I am sure Waitrose at the bottom of the hill would be happy to deliver to you!

Simple cure for that, Freddy !!
I spray a little water on my forehead, start coughing loudly, and wave a big piece of kitchen roll around.
Then Watch 'Em Move
But right now there is a beautiful pale blue evening sky, 99 % cloud free but a decent breeze enough to make me think of a nice salad tea
Take care y'all

Wet start to the morning. Drove over to Burghley House, which only opened for the season yesterday. Had an hour walk round the grounds as the rain had nearly stopped. Plenty of peopld about Including a large party of mixed ages who appeared to be on an organised walk. Rain started again and we decided not to go round the house. Onto Morrisons which was fairly busy but no sign of arguments and apart from the shelves of tinned foodstuffs being quite empty there were plenty of every else including toilet rolls. Filled up with fuel at automatic pump so no interaction with sales staff, and used the disposable gloves provided. Rain eventually stopped and had a walk from the van.

DS was at party yesterday, discussing things, he reported that , as weekly Tesco on line shoppers, normal delivery on Sundays, he was unable to book a slot before this coming Thursday.
They May have to venture to a shop to avoid starving! DIL does not like going shopping (most odd IMO) and they always get their food delivered.
Apparently they have not kept their freezer stocked up either, I despair of them.
Very unwise way of operating!

An easy drive to the CL where it stopped raining before we arrived and set up. Posted a cheque through the letterbox instead of finding owner.
Sun came out after lunch so we ventured out from the caravan by foot for a stroll. A cold wind blowing, in more ways than one.
Tomorrow supposed to be a nice day.

I would stop mollycoddling them K, they need to be taking care of you I think now😁

No problem, as no more folk arriving we have been told we just stay where we are until flights resume.
We are fortunate in that we are on a timeshare resort where the majority of apartments are owned rather than exchanged.
We are in our own apartment for these weeks. If the next weeks owners can't get out here we stay put.
Good sized apartment with everything we need and an amazing team to look after us. Its going to quiet tonight as no entertainment on, will just have to make do with the tv.

No problem TTDA, we live a good way from them and only see them occasionally. They need to get organised!
DD and family are a different matter as we are supposed to look after our grandson 2 afternoons per week. Just because we are "over 70" does not necessarily make us more at risk as we are pretty healthy, and we have been "bug sharing" with them for the last year. We have no underlying conditions.
