Went to Sainsbury’s to try for toilet roll (we’ve only got 2 left ) ,the shelf’s were empty , so might cut the kitchen roll in half to fit the toilet roll holder
, spent the rest of the day in the garden building the first of my raised beds for veg production, buy the end of the year we should be self sufficient, but not in toilet rolls

Called in Lidl and Aldi in Oakham today for our weekly supplies. Aldi had most of everything, apart from noodles and kidney beans, and were limiting customer to 4 of any one item. The wine shelves were rather empty too!! Lidl's shelves were certainly bare in places but we got just about all that we'd gone for.

Our son in N Ireland has just sent a message to say their local village store has lots of loo rolls and have even done a display of them by the counter! He has offered to post us some 😂

😁 we found a pack of four toilet rolls in our local corner shop. I had only called in to set up a parcel collection. I got some Coffee Mate as well. Have agree to share Bog rolls with Mum, and she can definitely have the Coffee Mate🤢
Mum likes to have a few stock items in. She’s on war footing at the moment, Corn Beef and Spam, and strangely loads of dried fruit.🤔 I am thinking a Christmas cake didn’t get made. Great in cereals though.
Off to find a recipe for Snook Pie.......😂 I bet Mum has one somewhere in her hand me down recipe book.

Did I miss something, TG. Have you had your flight home confirmed then?

Is it just me or is everyone getting server error? Website dreadful.
Anyway we had a lovely walk today, parking at Castleton and doing a circular walk up to Mam Tor. More people on the hill than one would expect for a Monday in March. We managed not to hug or kiss anyone. Feel better for the excercise. I'll go mad if I have to stay in for 16 weeks. I mean it. So, sorry BJ, but whilst I shall be staying at home I'll also be doing some local walking on very quiet back lanes.
Looks like the house will get a good going over as well.
Cutting short our trip here and going home Thursday. Told MiL not to worry as virus only affects 86 year old women under 5' tall.😁 Fortunately she laughed then told me she was going to change her will!

You might want to think twice about using that kitchen roll, HD!

Meanwhile back in LV world, I removed the water pump that packed up whilst we were away last week. Stripped it down but no chance of being able to kiss it better. Have to see if I can get one before the "wrinkly curfew" sets in at the end of the week.

It’s interesting seeing how other nations across the world are coping with the virus from a personal point of view....
italians are serenading each other on balconies, and doing keep fit exercises on balconies..💕
Iranians are busy storming closed mosques....🙄
Americans are queuing up to buy guns and ammo....🙄
Australians are brawling over bog rolls......🙄
Brits are thinking of DIY and gardening......😁
I strongly suspect the French will be planning a revolution, or at the very least a bit of rioting....😂
(Tongue in cheek post by the way......😁)

You can't beat gardening and a cup of tea

Just popped down the garden centre and picked up some seed, tomato, sweet peas and rudbeckia. It wasn’t long ago that I wasn’t going to be bothering so much with the garden, given that we intended to get away a lot more. How things can change in such a short time! Time to browse some online catalogues for some fuchsias. Keep washing those hands folks 🙂

Top tip, the mass panic hasn’t extended to fresh pasta or soft noodles yet. Fresh pasta can be frozen, soft noodles have a longggggg shelf life😁
Garden for me today as well. Lots of seeds to sow, plenty of tasks to do.

Spent the last two days pressure washing all the paving in the back garden. Hasn't been done fore a couple of years so pretty mucky I am ashamed to say! Taken the opportunity whilst the motorhome is at the dealers. Hopefully that should be ready for collection in a couple of days, I am sure they will want their loan car at some stage!!! This also presents a dilemma in the light of the recent instructions issued by the Government! I have spoken to White Arches given the current situation and they have say it can be dealt with without coming into contact with staff. They suggest the payment is made over the phone and they will leave the keys in the motorhome in the car park for me. I will do the same with their car. They assure me that all work has been done wearing gloves and they will wipe everything down when they finish.

Not really, I just want to stay positive
Spoke to Tui this morning as it stands just now its going ahead but they say "its fluid so keep checking, we will text you if it changes" managed to get through to them quite easily considering what's happening.
Things here are still the same, swimming pool and area roped off. We are supposed to only be on our patios/balconies, each apartment is supposed to keep to themselves. Its not working, folk are going from one to another sitting having chats and drinks etc. At the moment no one here has the virus that we know of. The cleaners were in this morning after being off since Saturday, we were requested to sit on patio while they came in to clean. They are wearing masks and gloves, yet going from apart to apartment using the same clothes, brushes and mops.
Weather is still not good, never seen it like this in all the years we have been coming here. Overcast most of the day chilly and windy, the first 2 weeks were great thankfully.

Great day yesterday weatherwise , and it started nice today but has now got very cloudy , walks with Rosa have been "re ceduled" and on less well used routes,,to keep contacts? low
Saw one of neighbours doing the same on one walk
, She works at one of local doctors surgery, and said (from a distance)that they have had several requests from people asking if hand cream, can be obtained on prescription, as they had got sore hands from so much washing

Yesterday, despite a dodgy shoulder I started pruning some of our fruit trees as the "promised pruners" had not turned up...of course they phoned today, bless them, and will be here tomorrow.
So this afternoon's exercise has been another on line grocery order campaign. Couldn't get onto Tesco, due to email problem (used to order from them but had to abandon it this time round.) Waitrose failed in their delivery yesterday, bit of a disaster with so many missing paid for goods and their web site was only available around 7am then vanished. Sainsburys had slots about three weeks away, gave up on that one. Morrisons, partial success, signed up, took an hour to wade through order, felt pleased even though a huge amount was out of stock. Checked out and even more became unavailable on check out.....but I have a slot in ten days. A friend has tried Asda, got an earlier slot, awaiting outcome!
Good luck one and all, I suppose if you live within walking distance of a reasonable shop or shops you will find things slightly easier? Perhaps I should have done click and collect? Why do people want so much strong flour and spam I presume to eat with the out of stock potatoes and broccoli?!

Not quite sure whether to be pleased or insulted but our new (young) neighbour has just come round to check up on us and ask if we need any shopping!
I'm feeling my age now all right!
Just been told that Dad's care home is closed to all visitors until further notice so glad that I managed to pop in and see him yesterday after our week away. Rather worried about what happens if he should be taken ill but at least we know he's being looked after.
Also just found out that the planned RNLI quiz night has been called off as has the Setter Rescue walk in May. All my bowls matches cancelled and Mrs M's bridge sessions - we have the "joy" of each other's company full time then! Going to be an interesting few weeks!

Strong flour for bread making? Spam because various Government Ministers keep referring to WWII? Local Co-op has been cleaned out of bread products [first time since the 'crisis' started], still no toilet rolls or pasta, but Lloyds Pharmacy has received fresh stocks of soap so we are OK for handwash regime for just now.
Rain arrived earlier than forecast and bitterly cold wind blowing so daily walk curtailed. Wind strength means that Edinburgh resident coughing 5 seconds earlier could have infected me from across the water!

Brue, my sister said she has never seen so many 'pickers' going around the supermarkets for online shopping. Trouble is with so much of it being done that way, even if you are able to go in person there is nothing left to buy.
Not sure how we are going to fare once we get back, there was no cases in Scotland when we left so never gave a thought to stocking up before coming away. We do have some food in but certainly not enough to do us if we have to isolate.
Ventured out here this afternoon to shops, no problem getting anything but shops only allowing so many in at a time. Plastic gloves provided to wear for your safety, most staff wearing face mask and gloves. Card machines and counters wiped after every customer. Bit strange walking to shops as you are asked to keep a mtr between you, which is fine until someone comes the other way.
