Electrical emergency here tonight.  Noticed yesterday that electric towel rail was not hot when it should have been hot.  Time clock seems to  have failed, only 32 years old.......very poor!!!!

Have swapped it for one of the other two in the house, will see how it goes.

No, but I think 32 years is presumably considerable reasonable these days  They certainly do not make things like they used to!

Ah well, I think we will just have to shell out on a new device.

No doubt we will have to go "digital"

This coming week we should be doing some odds and ends at DD's house in prep for going away for a month, but now we do not know if we will be allowed to go away.

Need to prioritise what needs to be done, she has 2 radiators that need to be changed/connected, so that will take a while.

Reluctant to start anything big in case we really are allowed to go away!

"Allowed"? Who's going to stop you? The advice to isolate us old fogies isn't yet in place and it will be only advice when/if it happens.

Whether it's sensible to go is entirely another matter.

Yes, quite, that is the "problem"

Are we to be allowed to go away , will there be sites to go to?

We were planning a trip "up north", further away from the masses.

We have booked, a while back, and paid deposits, what will happen if we are told we should not go?

    Will it just be advice?

We will be "advised" and "encouraged" (their words) to stay at home. Think about it - it's unenforceable.

As for sites being open, it's anyone's guess.

A four month "confined to barracks" would take us to half way through July. A disconcerting prospect. Whilst my booked ferry may be a casualty, as has previously been suggested, a "minimal contact" trip to a remote CL in the UK would seem not to have any significant increased risk compared to staying at home.

KJ, we bought a digital panel heater for our new extension and I think it works better than our central heating radiators.

Just had my on line grocery delivery. Many items missing, the delivery lad said they'd had more on line orders than the previous Christmas orders...hence missing items, bread and meat etc, the things I really wanted for the freezer. He asked politely why I'd ordered on line, was it the coronavirus? It is partly but my painful shoulder has also played a big part. OH has gone out for some strong bread flour, think I'll make my own machine bread once more. Goldie must be ahead of the game! wink

We noticed there was hardly any bread flour left in the shops here, lots of people must be bringing out their bread machines.

I have just been to our co-op about 200yds, and was listening (no option) to a couple of "young mums" who were discussing that "why should we not be able to go to Spain  at Easter , as we are not part of the vunerable groups, and TUI have stopped all package holidays "surprised

    And they live amongst usundecided

I make bread overnight in a machine, almost every night. I buy the flour online in bulk (Shipton Mill) and have a plentiful stock. But I buy Dove Yeast when I do my normal shopping at Booths.

We shop weekly on Sunday mornings (OH comes with me to bend and stretch for things I can't reach. And to slip things into the trolley without me noticing). Yesterday the carpark at Kirkby Lonsdale Booths was the fullest I've seen it since Christmas. Nobody had big overflowing trolleys (except me buying my usual big batch of fruit and veg), but there were a lot of non-regulars there (re the staff - they didn't have Booths Cards). I got everything I needed except yeast. Trust me to almost run out just as there was a run on it. There were quite a lot of gaps in the flour section - probably Bread Mixes as well as strong flour.

I searched online for dried yeast and it was out of stock everywhere, except Ebay! Some sellers had it at inflated prices, but one was spot on with the normal price. And free delivery. So the bread making continues.

When the apocalypse comes we can live on bread and milk. And those sheep in the field had better watch out!

Have just spent ages trying to contact the delivery service, all the meat and fish orders were missing. OH couldn't get any strong flour on his mission to help, unfortunately he came back with some of the sliced bread I usually avoid but it all helps. Think I've got some yeast but not much bread flour.

I was wondering what we could all live on....?! wink

OH now looking at stored veg seeds...

This morning is one of desperation for some who are trying everything to get home.

Easyjet have informed their passengers flights have been cancelled and they will operate a first come basis at the airport. Totally crazy considering there will be many folk trying to get back and under the 'rules' we are supposed not to gather in groups.  Our friends here are with easyjet they can't get booked on any flights going out this week,  yet they had a booking for Thursday which appears to be cancelled.

We've not heard anything from Tui yet but according to their website we are not to call until 48hrs before flight. Someone else said they had called Tui and was told if you have not been informed your flight will be going ahead.

There are lots of flights leaving and arriving according to the airports information bulleting board.

Whilst having the internet is wonderful in terms of being able to keep in touch with folks, get quality advice if websites are chosen with care, and to help stave off boredom, it’s also feeding what is becoming a panic frenzy.

Mum was in a right old state this morning, a lifelong proclivity to anxiety coupled with memory loss, add in a pulled muscle and suddenly this is it, she’s dying. Reassurance given, two paracetamols for pain and no access to any form of newspaper or news programme, and she is now fine. Something tells me the next three months are going to be very trying, in more ways than one. 🤔

I sympathise with you TDA, very hard with memory loss, no doubt much repetition for you which is very frustrating.

Hope the flight situation improves so that everyone can get home TammyG, fingers crossed for your flight on Thursday.

I'm hoping we all get time to adapt to this ongoing situation.

We have lovely sunshine today after an early frost, visiting dog arrived at 7.30 am, high jinks here. Think I'll do some outside work. smile

Memory loss can affect anybody TDA  embarassed.

Went to Morrisons to fill up with diesel all ok, then popped over to the ATMs on the wall and made a complete B&**£r of the pin . So I've spent a Happy Half Hour on the landline chatting to a nice polite recorded announcement to get it all reset just so I can assist the Cheshire East Council balance it's booksmoney-mouth. I recall somebody on here said they were not a Happy Bunny. Well that goes double or more for Brian right now !!yell

Went to Morrison’s this morning, plenty of fresh meat and veg.  No baked beans, rice or pasta, UHT milk, toilet rolls, tinned meats like spam etc.Didn't seem to be panic buying.

Looks like schools will close this week as teachers are preparing packs to the children so they can continue learning at home.

Got Mum sorted out now, I have set her up with an old iPad. She is now connected to the WWW, has her own email address, and is now happily watching an old film on iplayer. Dementia is dreadful, but between us we muddle through, just get on with things. 😁

OH has been to GP surgery this afternoon for his B12 injection. Said he has never seen it so quiet. The booking in screens have been taken out of action (terrible germ spreaders - I always use hand santiser if I have to use them). A barrier has been put up in front of the reception desk and you have to stand behind it to book in.

We popped into Aldi at Oakham on our way home from the airport on Saturday and I managed to get everything we needed, even loo rolls. They were rationing the sale of both loo rolls and kitchen towel as some people were trying to stockpile.

TDA my Mum had dementia and I sympathise. She could get agitated very quickly if there was a change in her routine. My Dad was a saint looling after her. They lived near where I worked so I could pop in most lunchtimes and also on my way home. They came to us on Sundays  and she got very confused when we moved house. She kept saying what a nice hotel it was. My Dad said she obviously appreciated the service!

I hope you get home without too much hassle Tammygirl.

The sun is out here so gardening this afternoon 😊

Yesterday I brought my caravan home from the storage facility to give it it’s spring clean before being serviced later this week, all in readiness for the first planed trip at Easter.

Where the caravan is stored it backs on to a high conifer hedge and the roof takes a pounding, the gutters soon get blocked with the resultant mess overflowing down the sides. Anyway, all clean and sparkling again. The inside had a good clean and freshen up.

Took out as much unnecessary stuff as I dared but I’m still trying to work out If I can manage with less than the three BBQs normally left in it!

Started sunny here, but by midday it was wet and windy.

Need to change the battery in the car key before I get locked out, and it is also telling me to fill the Adblue ..  Bought  a 10 litre container recently, so should have plenty.

Been under the floor to lay in the new pipes for the new radiator in DD's utility room, so will hopefully get all the work on the CH done tomorrow.

OH has been sorting stuff to move into the new cupboards.....there are a lot of boxes full of "stuff"

I We are planning on going away at the weekend just our local club site. We are a bit apprehensive in the current situation but could really be doing with a break. If we do go we will be using our own facilities in the van and avoiding crowded places just stay in the van most of the time and maybe head out a drive. As anyone been on sites since all this started are there any changes we should be aware of as we haven’t been away since November.

Welcome!
