A lot of organised folk on here! We empty caravan a week before service and rload about a week afterwards. The tow car is always loaded for bear!

It has worked out over last 15 years that the return from service is between a week and 10 days before our next holiday. Only been fully unloaded on half a dozen occasions in that time. Things out of front locker to garage, everything else in my study for a couple of weeks.

We've been discussing this for awhile now, not quite ready to make the move yet but thinking of the future.

Like you we have thought of buy a 2nd hand van, one with a fixed bed so bigger than what we have now. Leaving it 'over there' somewhere in storage.  Find a site that we like enough, in an area we like enough to stay for a couple of months at a time.

We would then look at selling the cars and caravan that we currently have and buy a small MH or PVC. Then still tour while on our way to the stored caravan or here in the UK. With the longer ferry crossing  to Spain we think we could do that for a fair few years. If it then becomes too much we could always fly out smile

Picked up brother this morning to stay with us for the weekend.  Then off to Pick up van, on the way home not a squeak of the brakes so hopefully that’s the way it will now stay.  Just back from a walk along the beach, Sea is really rough and wind is rising by the minutes.

Anyone travelling for the weekend, take care

Glad to hear all went well for you TG. They are very sad occasions, but family and friends help get you through. There are some very kind folks on here, as I found when I lost my Dad a couple of years ago. Kind words go a long way, even if from someone you have never actually met, most of us will have lost a loved one, and it can seem rather lonely at times. All the best, treasure your memories.😊

It certainly does, given the drive we have from here to the ferry to start with.

Although we like having a caravan once again, we are not against having another MH/PVC.

When travelling, especially long distances and over the winter months, when many sites are closing, that is when a MH/PVC can really come into their own, having water on board is great. smile

If we did go down this road a bigger caravan with fixed bed would have to be found, as you say sound and dry is the priority.

I can see that our future trips will be interesting, as we look to our next faze in this wonderful changing hobby.smile

TG, have been thinking about you. Do hope you all enjoy your meal out tonight and hope things go well over the next few weeks. It's not easy writing about loss on here but as TDA says the kind words are a great help. Take care. smile

Tammygirl enjoy your meal tonight. Isn’t it sad that extended families only seem to get together for these sorts of occasions. Nice to see when they do though. They just pick up where they left off.
There’s lots of support on here. We may not know who you are and never met you, but you’re in our thoughts.

Didn't see anything unusual apart from a Snow Bunting but did enjoy the extra clarity that they brought. I'd thought my eyes were getting much worse than they are.smile Had a good session with them today on the River Blyth as the tide was just stating to ebb. Quite pleased with the amount of light coming through them, the depth of field and the closeness they see down to. All in all so well chuffed that I had to celebrate with a Broadside (didn't have Blackshore).

Glad to hear about the results.

I too have had you in my thoughts Tammygirl. If there is a brighter side to such occasions it is the bringing together of extended family. Sadly it takes something like this to MAKE the time to gather together, but the upside, at least in both sides of our family, is the sharing of memories and laughter for the happy times remembered. It at least lightens things for a short while.

I too find that contributors on here are very kind and the support I have had this year from folks I've never met has certainly been very kind and supportive and allowed me to say it as I saw it.  When times were dark it was quite 'nice' to write about what I was going through without having to consider if I was upsetting someone close or those who were 'caring's for OH 😢. I can still feel that support on my more difficult days now. Many thanks to you all.

Sadly such trials are all part of life's rich tapestry - even if the pattern is hard to see at times 😉 and it's nice to know we do not face them alone. Most folks in life are kind and caring but it's not always easy to express feelings, whilst we're all living at a pace and being British 😂

Glad that everything went smoothly, TG, and that you got to see so many of your family.

Have a pleasant, restful weekend, Goldie.

It was a fine sunny, but breezy day today. Drove over to Cragside, took the Carriage Drive and did a couple of walks before going into the house. All H/S pitches are full tonight.

Whilst I used to visit my Aunt on a semi regular basis and send her postcards from our touring, that were were gratefully received, I only ever saw any of my cousins if they happened to be there on the day of my visit. Over the years we accumulated quite a few days and after my Aunts funeral last year a couple of us decided to meet up three or four times a year for an elongated lunch at a hostelry mid-way between us. We now happily keep in touch by email as well. So sometimes these funeral gatherings can lead to further contact rather than waiting for the next unfortunate death in the family.

Hopefully some of TGs relatives will do the same. Glad it passed off as well as can have been expected TG.

We are home again after a very nice week spent with relatives. We seldom holiday with anyone else other than my Mum and Sister, so a very nice change. Plenty of laughs, we share a good few interests and I can happily say I married into a wonderfully loving family, generous and kind.

Plenty to catch up on in garden by the looks of things, hope the weather is kind so we can get stuck in.

Went to Waitrose in Sandbach after Lunch today, not by the direct route but via Council tip then a run round south east Cheshire. Never seen the green areas looking so sodden for many a year,  even the wild fowl on Elton Flashes looked spoiled for choice today.

So if it is anything like that round your garden TDA, I'd ask David DSB if he did get a flotation collar and, if he did, what make and size  !!

Just watched the England match ( AWFUL !! ) so now I'm  off to bed to read a couple of J K Rowling's Best to try to clear my mind.

So Sleep well, sweet dreams everybody,  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

At least you won’t have the shop to worry about as well as caring. It can be hard work rushing around trying to fit everything in. Gardening is one of my favourite things to do as well😁
