A bit of a brighter day here, we've had a few showers but not the dull heavy grey skies we've had over the last week.
My Brother and his wife have now arrived up here, both my sons are on there way up so grateful for the break in the weather.
All those out and about stay safe.
Moulsey, welcome back.
We hate the dark winters, thinking of going back so Spain in a few weeks

Thanks, Yes it will be nice to see the boys again.
With the van, looking at the long ferry there and back saves us a fair bit of driving. OH fancies staying for Christmas but I'm not sure about that.
Will probably start looking around for a 'winter' site for the future, either that or rental properties.

Just started to rain big hard spots.
I had an appointment first thing, bit of food shopping. Then OH and I walked to fireplace shop ๐. Delighted to learn they still make a gas fire to fit our opening. About time our luck changed. Ordered and should be fitted later this month or next month.
Home for lunch, spoke to Virgin re tgeir charhes, not impressed, lots of background noise, couldn't get her to budge unless i upped our package - basically faster broadband ours is more than adequate at 100mg, wouldn't put me on to supervisor! Been with them about 14 years ๐ค๐ค. She suggests I try again in a week or months time! I then I pottered in the garden for a couple of hours - good for the soul and mind. Finished by tidying up garden table and chairs moved bench into its winter ๐ข home on the patio. Just put the dinner on.

The Northern Distributor Road is great, when we go to Barleywood it knocks a good 15 minutes off the journey, more time to enjoy the delights of North Norfolk.
Got a bus in to town this morning for dental appointment, no problem so good for another 6 months.
HD guess that means you have sold the shop so enjoy a long and happy retirement

Thanks DD, don't have a fixed system anymore since going back to a caravan so guess we should be ok
OH has got an electric gizmo that he plug into the LNB that finds, then locks onto the satellite. I'll let him know in case his gizmo needs an update.

Many thanks David
We are of the same opinion re going back to Spain, might not sit well with some but staying here isn't looking a great either.
We've done the Santander crossing once on the Pont Aven, really nice ship. This time I think it will be the Cap Finistere the timings are better as you say. Burgos will be our first stop more than likely.

Tammygirl you do what feels right for you, your pain not another's who may want to do something completely different. Grief is very personal, no rights no wrongs no easy way. Personally I reckon life is for living, a lesson both you and I have had pointed out first hand this year.
In my post I only meant I didn't want you to try again and not make it. Taking the longer crossing maybe the answer. If I recall correctly it's getting out of France into Spain that's been the issue for various reasons on previous attempts.
Life is constantly requires readjustments ๐

Thanks Bakers, I'm sorry if you thought I meant you in my post to David I didn't.
You are right about trying again. The funny (not really funny) thing is, I had this feeling in the pit of my stomach when we set off, that we wouldn't make it. Yet Mum was as well as she could have been when we left.
I truly hope that life for you and OH is now on the up, it has been a very horrible year for you both.

Thanks Tammygirl. I didn't particularly take it that you meant me but wanted to show solidarity with you. Not easy in written form at times ๐.
Good days, not so good days, take each one as it comes. Life's very different to this time last year. He looks so well it's hard for me to realise the differences at times, let alone him and others. People judge so much by their eyes........... including those who should know better ๐ข
I'm doing my best, himself too, to enjoy what we can when we can. I never like the winter and wish we could escape but don't think that's possible at the mo - but never say never ๐๐

My SIL husband has had a bad 3 years firstly prostate cancer then at the end of his treatment he fell and broke his hip which resulted in a hip replacement which has left him pretty much immobile. Anyway last week he flew to Spain surprisingly by Ryan Air and he said they were really good with all arrangements to get him on and off the plane. He had to have some ongoing treatment which was carried out locally in Spain. He said it was one of his best holidays ever.
Hopefully you can get to a stage like that.
