Glad that the Test Match ended a day early so I can do a decent job on loading for a week, starting tomorrow, at Cherry Hinton and only on here for 5 mins while the camera batteries get their much deserved recharge.
OUCH just heard an almighty thump thump from front door -- pretty sure I'm going to have to shift a half hundredweight of bird food before I can move to " Van Loading Stage 2 ".
Now where did I put that truss ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,
Hoping that, as the saying goes, Good things are coming to those who wait, most especially those with new 'vans & / or properties and trips away in the offing
Now what was I doing ,, ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,

Putting on your truss?😂😂😁

I take it then that you’re based in Scotland? We very nearly made it to Scotland in June, but was put off by the midges. We did though make it to The Lakes, love it there🙂 In the past, we’ve pretty much just stuck with the main holiday season, April/May to September, but we’re now thinking about extending into the colder months, now that we have more time on our hands. We’ll be able to just get up and go, if the weather looks set fair🙂

Hi, from a very sunny and hot 29c today here in Pornic, (just south of it) we arrived at 14.30 after 3 very lovely days in Brittany. We stayed just north of Quimper on the coast, really nice stunning coastline. Weather was great at 24c with a light breeze.
As its so good we haven't the need to rush to Spain which is as well reading some of your comments, redkite and cyber. Will have to look at the news to see whats been going on.
Brittany was quiet despite the wonderful weather, seems to be a bit busier here although this site is ok. We've passed lots of MH'S on the road more than we've seen at this time before, lots of French out and about. The aires we've seen over the weekend were very busy. The lady on reception said that at the weekend every pitch and site on Normoutier was 'complete'
Think we might stay for awhile here if the cycling is ok, there is a bit of road noise but not intrusive. The pool is lovely

All those out have safe trips, WN glad you got a car sorted and everything going well for you to get away, do you think you'll manage to get over here?
Wifi free and good here sowill be able to catch up on everything.

Arrived home this afternoon after an uneventful journey home. Had drizzle in places but no real rain. Temperature took a drop to 15C so felt a little chill but we will survive. Started to reconcile the cost of our month away and to be honest I’m stumped 🤔 There are some who tell me they spend three months over there and get change from a fiver, well that’s not my experience 😏🤑
car goes in for its MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed.
TG keep on enjoying

Hi TG. Good to hear that everything going well. We've often stopped just south of Pornic, visiting that lovely place for mussels and walking. However we did loads of cycling in the triangle from Noirmoutier to Machecoul to Bois de Cene and sometimes up the coastal strip towards Pornic itself. Quiet roads.
We p/x the car for a Kia Sportage which fortunately had a towbar fitted. It's just under 3 years old with about 11,000 on the clock so quite happy. Picking up the new caravan tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Won't get across the channel this year now. Will wait for Spring.
Enjoy the rest of your hols.
Same thoughts to you too Millie.
We've had to pack the car with everything for a 2 night stay at a CL. Never had to do this before! New experiences.

We are all aet up at Sandringham and have just had a fish and chip supper from the visiting van 😁. Its been a dull, dreary and damp day with mizzly rain until mid afternoon and then cleared and has been a lovely evening. Decidedly chilly though. Forecast to be much better tomorrow and the rest of the week.
Glad all is going well tammygirl. It sounds great. I would avoid Spain, especially around the Alicante area, for a while. We have friends who live in the area and it sounds pretty grim.
All the best with your new van and car WN
OP our daughter and family went to France in August and found it VERY expensive, especially the fuel which cost more than in the UK!!

Yes, we are just north of Glasgow.
Midges seem to be mainly on the west side of the country, so you should be safe in June if you keep to the east coast.
Been retired 12 years now, able to please ourselves, so we have been doing mainly 3 month trips, mostly abroad, but often with a couple of weeks in UK at the start and end, between March and early July. July and August we were normally home to see to the house and garden, then off again in September for another month or so.
Now, however, we have another grandchild who we help to look after 3 days a week, so are restricted mainly to school holidays and shorter trips, going in the opposite direction to you!

I'm supposed to be winding down now ready for the Cross Country run to Cambridge tomorrow But right now Brian's FUMING
.Noticed a post on BBC red button news service this evening that some time early in 2020 the Red Button Service, which used to be CEEFAX, will be withdrawn

. The only things to remain will be things like Which Stage at some outdoor music festival or which Court at Wimbledon shall we watch. I suppose any savings will just mean more money for the Top Layer to snaffle then.Wonder if the price of crisps will drop at all

.Have you seen a FUMING BUNNY before grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Now that our own WiFi is up and running I can keep up with all the posts daily.....well for the time being anyway.
Moved down today to a new CL near Welshpool and pleased with what we found. We had an uneventful journey yesterday, to collect the sets of keys we'd left at home. which is more than can be said for a Mitsubishi driver as it appeared that he's been overtaken by the glider trailer he was towing. The trailer was sideways across 2 lanes of the M6 at Lancaster while the car was on it's side, facing the wrong way, up against the bridge railing over the Lancaster/Kirby Lonsdale road. It was very fortunate that the vehicle didn't end up on the road below. Heavens knows what the results would have been if it had gone over there.
Glad to hear that the RAC managed to sort out your problem, tricky and that you were able to catch alter ferry and get home safely. Hope that your move goes through, too. Pleased to hear that you've made home safe and sound OP, and that those that are away, including millie, TG, TW and AD are having a good time. Fingers crossed that all's well with the "new" van, WN.

Spent Sunday night at a campsite about 10 minutes walk from the Pont du Gard. Reasonable site but low hanging trees made manovering difficult without scraping them across the roof lites or solar panels ☹️. Now at Avignon for a few nights to meet up with sister and B in L. Although we have been here before, we never went onto the old Pont, so yesterday joined the multinational tourists in the baking sun, before a nice cold beer in front of the Popes Palace.😀 Weather has been very hot for the time of year, 32 yesterday 34 forecast for today. Then it's supposed to cool down, although we could do without the rain forecast for the weekend. Can't complain though, we have seen very little in our 2 weeks away. High fuel costs were mentioned up thread. That certainly applies to petrol in France. Although Diesel isn't to bad. The cheapest we paid has been £1.25 (similar to U.K. when we left) dearest £1.35. All are supermarket prices) Gas, if we want to top up our supply seems about 10 / 20p more expensive. Will give it a go though before we come back, just to try out the adaptor.

A quick break through with the elusive wifi! Lovely little place here at Poolewe, a 10 min stroll to Inverewe Gardens along the sea loch.

Lovely photos brue, bought back nice memories. Are you on the C&CC site? We stayed there as part of our tour of Scotland about 10 years ago, pitch looking down the Loch. Not managed to get back, maybe one day.
Had our gas fire serviced- hasn't been firing up once ignited, we tried it one chilly evening last week. Couldn't get it going so dead. Always looked so real things don't have the longevity these days 😢. It was purchased from a gas board shop so relatively recent.
Lovely weekend with son and DIL came home with apples and plums. Good run back but a14 and m11 slow in places. A couple of times 'the voice'kicked in advising slow traffic ahead reduce your speed to 25mph - joke was only in the late teens both times 😂😂.
Yesterday visited brother and SIL to nose at their new house. It will be nice, previous owners didn't leave overly clean! S eine the amount of unpacking required, not to mention sorting and clearing to reach that stage well stay put!
Glorious day here so having lunched in he garden I'm off to cut the grass. Did food shopping this morning and was almost unpacked when gas chap arrived, 15 mins early.
Oneputt you weren't alone in the temperature drop, delighted to say back to what we had at the weekend.
Milliehull and others starting offend away on trips enjoy.
Enjoy your day folks.

We were looking at heading that way next May. It is many years since we last visited Inverewe Gardens.
Lovely day today, picked up by my sister and BinL. Of for a picnic in the hills 30 km or so south of Avignon. Then on to an exhibition of Vincent van Goghs work, with a difference, at Les Baux de Provence. It was in a limestone quarry, although the quarry was underground. The limestone had been hewn out in blocks, leaving very straight sides and square support pillars. VG's art work was projected onto the stone, constantly changing to a carefully choreographed musical soundtrack. The show lasted an hour and you were free to sit or walk about through the large cavern. The pictures don't really do the show justice.

Sounds good Steve, nice area to visit, years since I was there! Years too since seeing Inverewe Garden, much improved over thirty years plus. We're on the little C&Cc site, v pleasant and peaceful. Poolewe has lots of walks, went to the weekly village hall market today, excellent! Lots of people, stalls, coffee and scotch pancakes. Good place to stay. Hope you get here next year Steve, late May would be perfect for the garden.

Lovely sunny hot day again, thought it wasn't going to happen though when we got up it was dull, windy and chilly. By the time we were ready to go shopping the sun was breaking through, by the time we got back it was blue skies and hot.
Went out on the bikes this afternoon, as usual got lost
got back on track and had a lovely ride right down the coast, tide was out so the mud flats were exposed, a few brave soles were out looking for shell fish. Went back again at 17.00 to see the tide come in, looks a lot nicer
quite a few folk out sitting on the beach temp was still 25c
going opposite way tomorrow. WN, we looked at a Kia Sportage, OH was keen but at the time the Kuga was the better buy. Enjoy your new purchases

Feels good to be sitting in a caravan again sipping a cool beer (or in my case a cuppa Yorkshire). We seem pleased that the initial impression we had of the van has followed through. Home on Thursday for quick planning and getting away.
ADD - They had a new 460 VIP on display. NICE! See why you are tempted, especially liked the new "boot" cupboard.
CL is very nice. Nice big dog walking field as well. Stoneycroft under Preston in book. Toilet and Shower both seem adequate but we're here to try ours out.
ABM - I love Ceefax as well so we'll fume together
Have fun everyone who is away.
How are you and Mr.B coping, Bakers? We may, just may, get down your way in 3-4 weeks time. If we do we'll call in for a cuppa.

Lovely sunny day here in the Marches. Drove over to Montgomery, parking in Broad Street alongside the Georgian house. Walked up to the Castle and then back to view the Grade 1 listed St Nicholas Church with it's hammer-beam roof and magnificent Herbert tomb. After lunch we had a 4 ml circular walk taking in part of Offa's Dyke. It was still warm enough to sit out for a while when we got back to the van.
Glad to hear that you're liking the new van, WN.
We liked the Poolewe site and surrounding area, brue, the time we visited it. Must get back there again some time.
That sounds a very interesting art project, Steve. Hope that the rain holds off for the rest of your trip, and your's too TG.

Early days yet !! Agent coming to value my property tomorrow .0 -
Lovely still morning here at NYM site at Whitby. Just come back from a lovely doggy walk through the bottom woods. Very quiet with no sign of that chilly breeze we have had for the last couple of days. Surprised how busy the site is - almost full - mid-week in September!
Off into Whitby today - will no doubt be sampling F&C at some point😀

Well done WN, hope you continue to enjoy it. We have a heated cupboard beside the entry door so looking forward to warm slippers in the winter months. Have to call my dealer this morning to check where we are with the replacement brake pads.
Car failed its MOT yesterday, a fairly expensive job as it needs a new steering rack. If I had a Honda part, £3k but as the car has over 100k miles on the clock it will be a cheaper version at half the price. Time to think new car
