Great morning in North Norfolk Sun out and breeze warmer than yesterday, had to get hair cut yesterday as getting towards needing to get estimates first, I can highly recommend scissor hands in Sherringham, family run all fully trained men's barbers including the female family members £8 for seniors and not rushed as some do

Filled up with diesel yesterday with fuel card cheaper than Morrisons

Walk into Cromer today will have a snack lunch in the Church very dog friendly

Next time you’re here - try the Hare and Hounds at High Hawsker - especially Friday lunchtime. Their whale and chips is wonderful! Was our ‘local’ a couple of years ago when we stayed at Swan Farm CL just across the road 😀

About to venture out. Heading for a stroll at Lytham St.Annes. Haven't been there for years.
Tough, Oneputt.
Will you look for the same model, obviously updated. Thanks NTH.
If still in the area Steve then have a wander around the area near the sanitorium where Van Gogh spent some time. He used to paint some of the scenes he saw as he took a stroll. It's near the Roman remains just north of St.Remy, Glanum.

We can recommend the Cafe at Perry’s Nursery in Ruswarp, lovely sitting in their beautiful garden overlooking the River. And further afield, the Horseshoe Inn at Levisham does great food. It’s a stunning drive down to the little station at Levisham as well. We are heading back up to North York’s next week, home a few days, and then away in a cottage again with SIL and her OH early October. This time close to Rievaulx Abbey, so Whitby is on the visit list, probably by train.
Been nice weather here since we got home, so busy in garden. Had a break yesterday for little Sis’s birthday. We had a lovely afternoon out with Mum at Normanby Hall, near the Humber Bridge. It’s a really good afternoon out, there’s the Hall, Gardens, Deer Park, Walled Garden and a huge Museum about Farming in Lincolnshire, all for a mere £7 entry. The House has an excellent display of film and TV costumes at the moment, including lots from the Jane Austen dramas.......Mr Darcy’s breeches now dried out after his lakeside dip!😁
More gardening today, bike ride for OH. Packing MH for our next trip.....

WN glad you’re enjoying your new van. Have you found places for everything? The new VIP 460 is nice isn’t it? 🤔😕🤭 We bought our VIP 460 as a two year old van in 2014 and have been very happy with it but I can see big differences and improvements in the design that we like the look of. Especially the bigger square shower and the alde heating which ours hasn’t got.
Lovely and sunny here so I’ve been cutting things back in the garden and filling the green bin before they come and empty them today. I’ve tackled the iris’s in the pond as they’ve become a bit of a thug. The frogs 🐸 aren’t happy with me.
Time for me to get back to work and stop typing messages on here. 😊

OP, WN, as you know we also have a coachman caravan. We have had the brake squeal since we first got it, went in for a fix that lasted less than 400 mls. Went back in for service and brake replacement end of July. Brakes once again squealing, thought I heard it when pulling into site at Malvern. Confirmed when driving through Brittany
once again we will get in touch with dealer, really fed up with it now but know we are not alone having this problem.Lovely day again here, sunny getting warmer but with a stiff breeze. Bit of chores this morning after a very lazy start
got a sore throat and catarrh, hoping not a full blown cold. Will get out on the bikes after a spot of lunch. Moving tomorrow to La Tranche-sur-Mer for the weekend, then not sure will see what the weather is doing.

We’ve been having a bit of a hectic time (even more than usual). Starting with the BBC filming here last week then getting ready for the Westmorland Show. We’ve got two young vet students with us for a fortnight (Belgian and Malaysian) so we have bit of extra help.
My son and grandson stayed on the show field with the cows overnight. I think a lot of “socialising “ goes on. We went to two receptions at the show then back home. OH and I got up at quarter to five and milking was done by 6:30. An hour later we were on the show field ready for him to take up his duties as President Elect. We were driven round in two buggies (one for the President and wife) and visited as many stands and tents as possible. It was an horrendous wet day. Continual downpour. Fortunately along with several new sets of clothes I had bought a Barbour type cape. I found it all a bit hard as I was coming down with some kind of lurgy and had to give up and take refuge in the VIP marquee. I enjoyed the pre lunch reception (amazing canapés) and lunch and managed to slip and slither to the main ring for the Grand Parade.
Meanwhile across the field our cows were collecting some trophies. We stayed on till late evening (another reception and good food) .
The weekend passed in a blur - though I did manage to cook Sunday lunch for the judge for our region’s Herd Competition - even though he missed it and arrived 4 hours late.
Still recovering - cook dinner, urgent paperwork - rest on settee. Repeat till well. And catch up on here.
Next year I hope the show will take place in glorious sunshine and I can wear my new hat.

Called the dealer and our van goes in on 8 Oct for brake pad replacement so fingers crossed.
Goldie you guys are just so busy, where do you find the time.
Warm here this morning, so been out in the garden pottering also mowed the lawn which was only long in places after our months absence.

Goldie, such a shame when weather doesn’t deliver on show days, fingers crossed for you next year. We were totally engrossed by all the agricultural things happening around us up in the Borders. “Yellow” sheep was a hot topic of discussion, but is it done for showing purposes, and to prevent theft? We are still pondering......🤔

Couldn't agree more Steve. One of our favourite areas in the whole of France. I think we've walked along the whole of the range at one point or another, but there are pretty towns and villages to dive into. Glad you're enjoying it all.
Had a lovely stroll along the front at Lytham today. The small town is doing a lot better than some we've seen, especially Southport.
ADD - Not had to find places yet as we only packed for a 2 nighter and have to pack it properly starting tomorrow. First time we've had the Alde heating and getting to know it!
Brue - Nice photos. Like Nellie it's a long time since we've been to Inverewe gardens. Weird seeing Palm Trees so far north. Nice reminder.

Pleasant run out to Queen Elizabeth Country Park with the MH to blow the cobwebs away. A wander round the woods and then back home as OH's son called in with her birthday present. Message on the answerphone when I got back that parts for MH damp repair have arrived so that's going in next week for some TLC. Off for a commemorative meal this evening.

Amazing who you bump into when out and about.
This afternoon we took a cycle up the coast a bit to Pornic. On our way back as we were coming through La Bernerie en Retz I saw a couple on the other side of the road who I thought I recognised, only CT's chasandcath

stopped and had a chat. Lovely isn't it when you meet folk like that
Nice cycle, didn't get lost this time
not so hot today fue yo the stiff breeze. How come we always seem to be cycling into the wind going and the same coming back
surely it should be at our backs on the return
OP hope the brakepads work for you, sadly ours only lasted about 400 mls, been in touch with dealer, seems Alko now want a photo of the brake pads and drums + a photo of the plate on the axle before agreeing to change them again. So that will be another 180 mile round trip again

It’s nice to hear about folks travels, but it’s not always easy to know where they are without asking. A thought occurred to me (no sniggering at the back!). It would be good if there was some facility on CT whereby members could ‘tag’ their (touring) location on a map, if they wanted to. Just a thought...

Sorry to hear of those having problems with their brake pads. Hope that they get fixed the next time round, and that WN doesn't suffer the same problem with the new van.
Goldie, you certainly had a busy few days, and it was such a shame that the weather was miserable for the show. Hope that it's better next year for you and OH.
We have had beautiful weather again today. Went up to Powys Castle, firstly a walk with Flyte, then into the Castle. It must be a while since we last visited as I couldn't remember many of the rooms. After lunch it was a gentle stroll around the beautiful gardens before heading down to Aldi to restock. More sites booked this evening and a couple to see about tomorrow too.

A new one, OP, Glandir, about 3 mls out from Welshpool on the Newtown road. Nice flat grass site, with water & EHU to each pitch, plus good views towards Lord Rodney's Pillar on Breidden Hill. There's a pub just 100m or so along the road, with the canal behind. Although close to the main road it's peaceful at night. Will do a full review after we leave on Friday.

How come we always seem to be cycling into the wind going and the same coming back
There's an old sailors adage " If the wind goes round against the sun, trust it not for back it will run" As a rough rule of thumb, in coastal areas in high pressure, any wind tends to be south easterly in the mornings and south westerly in the afternoon. If possible try cycling with the sun on your back.

Had a decent run back from Preston to home. Car and caravan seemed to behave well. Had to unpack over half the stuff we'd taken only to repack some of it as we put the remainder of the stuff in the caravan that we'd left at home. Still following?

A few jobs done this afternoon and 3 CLs booked for our next sortie. Just waiting for 1 more to return a call and then we'll play it by ear for most of October.
NTH - Good to see you enjoyed the day at Powys. Hard not to though.
Oneputt, Have you decided what you are going to do with regard to your car?

Lovely sunny day in Pitlochry. We walked up to the Tummel Dam and salmon ladder. Viewing the salmon via the underground windows has been stopped. You now have to stagger up the many steps to the "box" cafe, adjoining the tourist car park and watch the salmon on film. Not quite the same. We've done it previously so just turned tail and enjoyed a lunch we'd booked at Portnacraig followed by an afternoon seeing a stage version of "Summer Holiday" at the Festival theatre. Oh goodness, that was a trip down memory lane.

WiFi very patchy here but seems to be working at the moment so fingers crossed I can have a quick catch up.
Adsolutely glorious weather. We have had both breakfast and evening meal on the Beauclaire every day. We had a great day at Sandringham House yesterday with our HHA memberahip. We we were very disapointed when we went nearly 20 years ago but it is very different now. You see all the downstairs rooms that the Royal family use at Christmas with a room guide in every to to explain everything. All very informative. The grounds are also lovely. We spent the day at Wells next the Sea today in glorious sunshine. Love that place.
So pleased to hear that your car and caravan performed well WN. When are you off on your next trip?
Bad luck about your car OP. Have you decided yet whether to keep it or change it?
Your trip looks great brue. Lovely photos.

Glad you got home ok, WN, hope that the next trip goes as well.
Great value these HHA cards millie, you get in to lots interesting of spots that it would normally cost a fortune to visit. We've not done Sandringham House yet so one to look forward to.
OP, hope that you are able to sort something out with the car.
Great photos, brue, it's a while since we stopped there too.
We've had another beautiful day here, and enjoyed a gentle 3 1/2ml walk each way along the canal tow path. Saw lots of Buzzards, a few Red Kites, 1 Roe Deer and a multitude of Dragonflies. This our last night here before we move down to one of our favourite CLs, The Old Orchard at Ombersley

Got the car back today so feeling a little low sided as my wallet is considerably lighter.
Millie it’s been such a reliable tug , for example our month away we towed 2600 miles, that my heart says keep it but head says get rid.
Been wall to wall sunshine in East Norfolk again today so pottering in the garden including deadheading all the roses, something I find quite therapeutic. I have to physically stop myself deadheading in public parks, national trust properties etc..

Sounds lovely Millie. I took Mum and Dad round Sandringham about 10 years ago, and we all really enjoyed it, comes across as a lovely family home. Was the display of Royal Cartoons still there? I love Giles Etc....so found these very funny. The Museum was excellent as well.
Gorgeous weather again here as well, so more gardening for me today, after a day off Mum caring yesterday. Just taken delivery of 3 mushroom growing kits, two of which are for my Sister, birthday presents. She loves growing things and I thought these a bit out of the ordinary. Other one is fit us, we love mushrooms.
Going to look up the CL Nellie, not one we know......😁

Glad you're enjoying your break Millie, we enjoyed Sandringham too, in fact we didn't manage to see all of it and would happily return to see more of the grounds.
Good luck with the motor OP, never an easy decision.
Look forward to hearing more of Nellie's travels!
We're heading towards Northumberland now.

What a surprise to meet Tammygirl and OH in La Bernerie. Bon Voyage for the rest of your expedition. We fled from our campsite the next day as 400 'guests' were arriving on Thursday for a two-night corporate 'party' with music to 3am. We moved 2 miles up the road to Boutinardiere for one night, but no amenities/ promenade within Cath's walking distance.
Arrived at St Jean de Monts this morning - soo much beach! It's the southern-most point for this trip.

So pleased to hear that your car and caravan performed well WN. When are you off on your next trip?
Hi Millie. Glad you enjoyed THE HOUSE! We're off on Sunday, heading your way but won't be in the area until next Friday as we're stopping off at a CL near Boston for a few nights first. Have a couple of CLs booked and after that playing it by ear.
Car and Caravan slowly being packed, what with the nosy neighbours wanting an inspection. Thinking of charging or maybe taking up a position as guide.

Have to toddle off now to collect the rest of my prescription as pharmacy only had half the stock.
Anyone else noticed a distinct shortage of Paracetamol? The MiL uses them regularly to help with her arthritis but everywhere we go there is either none on the shelves or just a packet or so left. Very strange as we've tried Tesco, Sainsbury, Aldi and Pharmacy. Total packets bought just 3.
