Glad to see that you are recovering well WN and enjoy your day with NH, did a walk up Cadre Idris when on a school camping trip in the sixties that was a long time ago but the week was educational as well but a lot of walking involved but used to that living in Shropshire at the time.
Thanks RK. It was a good pipe opener but the three assistants made sure I didn't overdo it.
The legs feel good but the lungs need a bit of work to get back to optimum level. When we arrived at the Jubilee Tower on Moel Famau there was a party of young teenagers sitting there having just arrived from the lower car park. Speaking to the teacher we found out that most of the pupils, from Wallasey, had never been to Wales before and certainly had never climbed such heights. You could tell how elated they were and they were actually talking to each other and not bothering with their phones. A rather corpulent young lass arrived about 15 minutes after everyone else and she was cheered by the rest of the gang. The teacher was over the moon to see such camaraderie. All very well behaved as well. Hope they continue with the exercise.
Thanks Bakers. Getting there slowly. We pick up our new caravan on Tuesday, staying away for 2 nights at a nearby CL, home on Thursday and probably away if everything ok soon after. We sorted a part exchange on the car out and the groundwork at home nearly finished for storage.
Had another lovely day in the company of Nellie and Mrs.NTH. Probably won't see them now for quite a while. They make excellent walking companions for myself and Mrs WN. All we have to do now is recover.
Hope you and Mr.B getting yourselves on track.4 -
A night at Blair Atholl for us, very busy, Highland Games at nearby Pitlochry. Called in for fuel at Pitlochry, quick panic as garage closed, being revamped. Luckily there is fuel at Blair Atholl. Nice little drive via Killikrankie, tree colours starting to look good. Onwards and upwards tomorrow, a bit tired due to relentless nose bug but keeping going! Good to read all your posts.

We have finally been able to get some decent wifi, so can now say thanks to WN & Mrs WN for a grand couple of days. Good walks, beautiful views, lots of chat, a number of fine beers, a nice lunch today, and if as they say that laughter is the best medicine then WN should be well on the way to recovery.
Looking forward to the next time that we are able to meet up.Apart from the poorish wifi & and phone reception the only down side of our trip so far is that we have to make a dash back home tomorrow, as we've come away with only one set of car and caravan keys, and we dare not be away for 2 months without the back up of the second set. Should we just carry on, as is, something is bound to happen where we'll need the reserves. So it's an early start and a near 300 ml round trip.

Safe journey home Tricky, and hope that your trip goes well brue, the midges should now be on the run. Enjoy your cruise, Freddy. Love the photo, R2B. Have a nice time with the"kids", B2. Hope that everyting went well at the show, Goldie
Apologies to anyone that I've missed out.

Nellie you could consider keeping a set of van keys hidden in a locker (not locked) or a magnetic box somewhere on the chassis - known only to you.
That's what I have done ,but bear in mind the relative value of your outfit. Mine is not far off the junk yard!
Oh - and spare car keys on a plastic, self adhesive hook inside, just above the door.

No, much further North CY. Bowes Castle, in County Durham, not that far from Hadrian’s Wall country. Nice stop over, before heading down through Yorkshire.
We are home now after two lovely weeks away, weather very kind. We have pinpointed our viewing spot for World Championships in a fortnights time, just outside Masham, up a hill. We can park up MH and watch Time Trial all day before rolling into Leyburn. Then we can find a spot for the Road Race on the Sunday.
WORD OF CAUTION FOR VISITORS TO YORKSHIRE: 21st to 29th Sept sees County hosting UCI World Championships, and there are extensive road closures from Doncaster right up to Richmond area, but mainly focussed around Harrogate area. Some are rolling road closures, but some are for full days, so getting around different localities needs to be planned. I will post a link from UCI website that gives a lot of information. On the plus front, the County is in festive mood again, with towns and villages along the routes decked out in bunting, knit bombing, flowers, it looks like being a huge week long party for those who love cycling and all the razzamatazz that goes with it. Lots of linked events happening as well. County is expecting millions of extra visitors for the different days and weeks. 😁

Just finished packing the caravan and car - off to NYM site near Whitby, tomorrow - and the weather forecast is looking half reasonable for next week.

What a miserable day. A grey mizzle has settled over the area all day.
We donned waterproofs and shifted several bags of soil and the remainder of a small wall to the recycling centre this morning. Then just making some plans and ensuring necessary jobs done inside so we can get away soon.
Hope the rest of the UK has had better weather. Does look like being decent next week.

Today we went to an open day at our local caravan dealership to preview the new 2020 designs. It’s a nice weekend each year where they provide hot dogs and soup. Local car dealers also attend. This year they had a chef cooking Indian street food on a cadac which was very tasty. Normally we look around the new vans, pick them to bits with the changes they’ve made since last year and ask if the caravan designers have ever stayed in a caravan.......😉 BUT this year....we quite like the new Coachman VIP 460......I can feel our bank balance groaning! 😊 We had no intention of changing the van. 🤨 and we’re not going to.....

Good luck with the new van WN, hope you don’t suffer from brake squeal. It’s been slightly embarrassing at times on this trip.😫😩
Great day today, wall to wall blue sky and temperature got up to 25C. Went to son and DIL where we visited a garden centre to buy him a water feature for the garden. After lunch took dogs for a walk at Queen Elizabeth Country Park.
As we were driving home tonight, quiet road, we stopped and watched a badger snuffling around on the verge, brilliant

It's been a really busy week stewarding at the Gaia Exhibition at Peterborough Cathedral and also shadowing my 'mentor' for my guiding coursed on some of his guided tours before I start my Guiding course next month. He is a really nice guy who is also the supervisor that I volunteer with on Tuesday mornings. He is such a help and support so hopefully I will pass the course. I am now so ready for some R&R when we go to Sandringham tomorrow. We are all packed and read to go (I hope!)
Bakers2 I am so pleased that you got to your son and DIL's OK. I hope you have had a really good weekend. Interesting to hear about Katherine of Aragon's last resting place at Sawtry. I hope you enjoy your new van and car WN and hope you get away soon. So pleased to hear that you are recovering. Nice to hear that you and the NTH's had a good couple of days. Also pleased to hear that you are well enough to get way brue and hope you have a good trip. Glad you have had such a good holiday tda. I hope all your plans work out Triky. Good luck.
Have a good week everyone.

Goodness....you are all so busy .....and going away!
Unfortunately we are stuck at home meantime, but planning to go away towards the end of the month, for 3-4 weeks, so need to allow time for cleaning and loading up the van.
Meantime I am doing stuff at DD's house as usual. Just fitted a new basin/unit/tap in one en suite bathroom, that went OK, now fitting some new skirting and boxing in exposed pipes.
She is preparing for the refitting of her utility room on our return, so re-organising various cupboards that will not be affected to minimise what she needs to box up out of the remaining cupboards.
Big upheaval, lots of mess due to moving sockets and adding new ones, plus an additional radiator to be installed, and all new flooring.
Hopefully it will all be finished before Christmas.
Will certainly keep me busy!
