What are you all up to

Think that I spotted you at Smailholm sat on the front of the Jeep. Were you parked on a bend just down a track on the right as the bikes came towards you?

Looks like a great day out for you Helen at the Show and Moulesy et al on the walk. Glad that the weather's kept fine for you both, and for all others out and about.
Sunny warm morning but clouded up a bit during the afternoon.Jobs for us round the house today, bit of gardening, loading some stuff into the van, and a relaxing afternoon watching the TdB on the box.

Beutifull start to the day here in North Norfolk great early morning walk over the dunes with Rosa, then had breakfast outside talking to our Dutch neigbours who arrived yesterday evening they are on their way home via Harwich ,and told us that they are going to book next year's UK tour as soon as they get home as they did not realise how busy sites are here these days, and they now have been advised by a site warden they can book a year in advance with the cc

Raining first thing here this morning. Am sat at the Volvo dealers having our car serviced and the MOT done. Fingers crossed that all is fine. Could be a long wait.........

Glad you had such a great family day out with 'daffy' Helen. She looks fabulous.
Thanks for the great photos moulesy. What a wonderful day you all had. Did you all go home with the right dog?! (I love the Alpacas!).
I hope your car passes the MOT with no problems Nellie.
We had a fairly quiet weekend catching up on jobs after a very busy week. We went over to our storage compound to check on the caravan as they are in the process of making it all hard-standing and are having to move the vans around. Luckily our area is all finished and looking very smart. No more dragging the caravan out over wet grass and mud. We now have our keys back and can plan for our trip to Sandringham next week. We would normally have gone this week but for various reasons had to put it off a week. I am glad we did as the weather forecast doesn't look good for this week - high winds and rain - and next week looks set fair. While we were there we popped in to the accessories shop at the dealers (as you do) and saw the Suncamp awning like yours Francis. OH most impressed. We might well get one for next year as it would be very useful for short trips when it isn't worth putting up the full awning. OH is off to the dentist this morning to have a back tooth extracted - happy days!
I hope the weather improves for all those 'over there'.

Car looked great Helen.
Had a good 200 mile tow to the Cherbourg area yesterday, very little traffic till we got to Caen. The only downside was the €55 toll fees. The other think was the drop in temperature to 17C. A little drizzle this morning and it’s grey over the sea. Plan for today is shopping then follow the coast road to Omaha Beach.

What a difference 12 hours makes! It's pouring down this morning - luckily just managed to get Lady out for a walk before the worst arrived! Travelling home later today, just packing at the moment (well Mrs M is doing the packing - I know better than to interfere in technical jobs like that!

Sorry if I have ruined a good few people's Mondays, but I'm very much a creature of habit { NO NO NO, I'm not of an overly religious persuasion
} I'm actually doing the Monday Wash
.
Well it does have to be done, despite there being loads of things I'd prefer to be at !!
The Rain it falleth on the Just
And on the Unjust fella,
But mainly on the Just because
The Unjust stole his umbrella
And Brian's doing his washing
{ With apologies to Poets, Writers and the English Language }
A Long Wait, Nellie ?
Have you, perchance, been cannibalising a Grandfather Clock ??
Sorry, sorry, I'll go 'n get me soap powder

And should think so too!!

Kjell, I didn't ask but could have had a courtesy car. However it gives me time to just chill it out, write a site review and do a bit of reading. I have managed to fit in couple of mile walk for a breath of fresh air.....still raining though.

Dull, raining and cold today here, however it appears to have stopped raining for the time being.
The caravan fridge is on electric and cooling down fine so I can think about putting food in there soon
Final bit of shopping this morning done and a cuppa and chat with sister and BIL before we go away, they look after things at home for us.
Most jobs now done in the house and outside, OH still playing with the new car
he keeps finding things he didn't know about, boys and their toys.
Spoke to Toyota today to see how things are progressing with the changing of vehicle type, they say its gone to the legal dept. now to be checked
We still have a letter from them for the ferry company so hope all will be well with that fingers crossed. I guess the new V5 will arrive while we are away.
Our neighbour just saw us at the van and asked if we are going away, 'yes' say us. Hope you have nice weather he says, 'we will' were of to Spain
when will you be back he asks, end of November says us. His face was a picture, he thought we were just going for a couple of weeks.
Still loving this retired life style, can't wait to get away to somewhere warm. Forecast for Brittany come the weekend and next week look to be ok, hope so it usually rains when we are there.

The comment about the scones was exactly my first thought. I'm sure those in the West country have a real thing about scones, jam and cream. Dawn French even managed to get it into her Chancellor's speech at Falmouh University at Anna's graduation in July. She also couldn't resist commenting that the students had done a 'Proper Job' in passing their degrees.......
Great photo's Moulsey...

Not as far as I am aware, heddlo. It's a pleasant site & a gentle stroll up to the Falls of Dochart by the bridge. Sadly it's obvious I know but they always flow more beautifully after a darn good storm up on the Headwaters.
The one place I do like is the shop just on the town side of the bridge -- I get a fair few Christmas presents from there , of the simple / silly variety !!

Last night was the first night we put a duvet on the bed during this current trip. Got up late and after clearing up went to the supermarket. Drove around the coast road with the intention of heading for Utah beach, the only one we haven’t been to. Stopped off at the light house at Phare de Gatteville and had a wander around. At the other side of the road is an Etang and spotted a water rail feeding there.
Had a look at Barfleur and then made our way St Vasst la Hougue which looked lovely around the harbour area. Parked up just as the heavens opened so will return another day

We were there a few weeks ago, I would say it was half and half at that time. I think it goes around, sometimes MH sometimes caravans. Nice site though and in a lovely area.
Maybe its just us Scots know when to go and when not to
central Scotland when its wet is a very wet place to be
Should get better tomorrow.

Given the roads around here I am not sure why anyone would tow a caravan let alone drive a motorhome!!! Motorhomes are in the ascendancy of course

Jealous doesn't even cover it!!!
10 weeks since our last day in the previous caravan. Pick our new one up next Tuesday.
Have a good trip TG. Enjoy yourselves, although I must admit to being not the biggest fan of Lourdes. Nevertheless, go and make your own mind up.

Love both those sites, Freddy. If you're looking for a good place to eat while you're at Burford, head left out of the site, straight over the crossroads to Shilton where you'll find the Rose & Crown. Great pub with good real ales and food, best book though because it gets very busy. (Too far to walk, unfortunately, but only a 5 minute drive.)
