Do you take part in the 40s weekend JVB? We enjoyed seeing everyone joining in when we stayed there.

Bit of a cold wind blowing down from the north today, as forecast. OH has been clearing out the guttering, full of wheat ears dropped by birds. At least we discovered why it sounded like Niagara Falls when it rained, totally blocked!

It's been a cold wind down here in Cornwall today,  as well, brue. We walked from St Mawgan down to Mawgan Porth beach for lunch and sat shivering, there was such a strong wind straight of the sea.  A few hardy souls still on the beach but all really well wrapped up! We visited the Japanese Garden at St Mawgan when we got back, an interesting spot to while away a half hour with some interesting little niches, water features and some huge bamboos.

We've been using our newly acquired bus passes this week to get up and down the coast and do some one way walks - opens up a whole new range of options! smile

Sunday is the Setter Rescue walk on Dartmoor. We're hoping to find another dog to adopt from them soon; it's just over a year since we lost Harry so time to get a new companion for Lady! We'll see how things go!

Have been to those gardens Moulesy, at least it's a bit more sheltered there. Good luck with your pet search, we miss our old terrier so much. Some of our friends and family ask when we'll get another dog and others say "you're not going to get another one are you?!" Not to worry, our visiting terrier is here once more so we're not exactly dog less and the cat thinks he's a dog...so that's two! wink

Lovely photos moulesy. The gardens look really interesting. Good luck with your setter search. I hope you find a lovely companion for Lady. I hope also that you get good weather for your setter walk. Chilly wind here as well but warm in sheltered sun so it has been a 'cardigan on, cardigan off' day. I just wish I could have got my timing right 😂.

We have had a busy week looking after the grandchildren during the last few days of their holidays. Had such a good day on Tuesday when we took 4 of them to Belton House adventure playground. The cousins all get on so well together. Yesterday we just had 9 year old grand-daughter as she was the only one not back at school. She wanted to go to Five Guys for lunch and absolutely loved it. We loved seeing her enjoy herself so much but I dont think OH and I will hurry back anytime soon 😁

Have a great time at the 40s weekend JVB. Will you be dressing in 40s gear?

Hope you have a wonderful trip tammygirl. Keep us posted.

Lovely day up here, bit of a keen wind, but sunshine most of day. We had a run into Berwick, quick look around. It’s on a bit of a downer at the moment I would say, although we didn’t get down into harbour area this time. Then had a run up Coast to Eyemouth and took dog on beach for a play. OH out on his bike all day.

Cold start to the day yesterday, only 9C but soon warmed up to 22C just the right temperature for site seeing.  Walked into the local town in the morning which is very picturesque and has a few independent shops.  Brought bread and sat outside for morning coffee.  In the afternoon went to the nature reserve at de Cherine in the La Brenne.  Walked over 10 miles in total.  Serenaded by 2 x tawny owls last night

Just having a quick look in, since I am currently without a tablet, and have to rely on my old phone or power up the lap top.

Glad you have found a caravan Wherenext, out and about again soon. smile

Good to read everyone's news, sounds like trips are going well.

We had another drive out in the MG, after a bit of tinkering the Overdrive now works, so its all systems go for the Classic car show on Sunday.smile Will get some photos at the show, and post some on here.

Hope all have a good weekend, will catch up again soon, smile

This morning we went to the11th prettiest village in France.  Angles-sur-l’Angli. Very nice it was to, situated by a river with a castle ruins, narrow streets etc. Due to the season being over it was surprisingly quiet so great for photography with no hoards in the way. Added bonus for me was seeing 7 hummingbird hawk moths.

Back to La Brenne this afternoon to another 2 lakes 1 of which was great whilst the other was a bit of a disappointment.  La Brenne has over 2000 lakes within its borders

Dry today but a chilly wind, nice in the sun though.

Bit of shoping this morning then dropped in to see my sister, BIL had his mri scan yesterday morning, results to follow, they want to do a biopsy as well.

Haad a call from Mum's care home the mental health care team were in seeing her, they want to try her on another drug for anxiety. They have tried lots over the last 5 years, none have helped and a few made her worse, 2 of them made her so bad on her feet she had repeated falls.  Neither of us are keen as we think she is better now than she has been for a long time.

Back home for lunch then we washed the caravan smile more batch cooking done and now in slow cooker.smile Cut OH's hair today as well.

Getting there, just the grass to cut and strim then take garden waste to recycle centre.

We are here on site first time away for a few weeks. Still not too cold so we are just sitting outside under our new Suncamp canopy. A lot of arrivals after 5 tonight so site quite busy. Weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow no plans yet just relaxing hopefully.

Helen glad to hear all is good with the MG looking forward to the pics. We go to quite a few classic car shows during the year with our classic Merc always fun.

Long day in the saddle, looking at cars. Got home to a letter from hospital asking me to ring for an appointment. After making it I asked when the CT scan was going to take place as the appointment was to discuss the results. Oh, they said. "You haven't got an appointment yet for the scan?" No! Great. Left hand not talking to right hand. Now awaiting further advices.

Have a lovely time with Daffy Helen.

Did you get the VRD for your Verso sorted TG?

Oneputt, that was the first proper village we visited on our first trip to France. First proper Pain au Raisin. Mmmm. Thanks for the memory. We love to cycle around the lakes in Spring. Most have nothing then you strike lucky.

WN a lot of the lakes are dry at this time of the year.  I think May would be a good month to visit, maybe next year even though I intimated that we would stay in the UK🌞

The nice lady at Toyota is dealing with it I believe smile I say believe because she asked OH for a copy of the V5 and lots of other information, there was talk of certificate of conformity etc etc we got the impression that Toyota will deal with it all on our behalf. OH should have phoned today to see how its going but forgot surprised I will remind him on Monday.

We have a letter from Toyota giving all the relevant details that should be ok for the ferry if there is a problem.

What car are you thinking of?

Agree with May for looking around the Brenne we went up last November for a look around and a lot of the lakes were drained vey strange so had to ind other lakes that had not been drained.

Had coffee and a light lunch today next to the river Dordogne at Beynac very quiet after the last few days but sunny weather and not to hot with a breeze, plenty of crag martins and swallow flying over the river.

Our friends are making their way back to port tomorrow a day early so we will see them off and then off to another famous village along the river hopefully for lunch before a trip around the area before coming back to site and packing up ready for us t leave for home on Sunday about 2 hours from here.

The chap in reception at Cherine put a cross through all the lakes that had dried up but forgot to put a cross through Etang Reynard which is intentionally emptied every 10 years. So we had and additional 3 mile yomp to see nothing.  Enjoy what’s left of your hols RK

What car are you thinking of?

Probably an upgrade to a 2.0 litre Tuscon but they're hard to find at the right price near here. If not then something similar as long as it's got a decent Kerb Weight of 1650+. Nothing really big, like a Sorrento or Santa Fe. Only got so much budget this year as all of this unplanned. Groundwork guy coming next week which again is extra expense.

If we'd bought the Autosleeper we would have had to cash in some investments that I really don't want to touch if possible. Well, not for the moment.

Having a break tomorrow and doing some light gardening work as I've not been able to for quite a while. I'm sure MiL will supervise.smile

We have come to Tavistock for a couple of nights B&B ready for tomorrow's Setter Rescue walk. Quite a unique spot - an old huge farmhouse 2 miles up a single track from the town itself - glad we didn't meet any farm traffic coming the other way last night! I thought the Cornish lanes were tricky but Devon beats them hands down! Going to spend the morning at Cotehele NT which we've never managed to visit before, then meeting an old friend who used to live on site in Cornwall before moving to the town a couple of years ago. (But first there's Devon's version of a full English breakfast to get through! wink)

Lovely bright sunny day on site here today but it was very cold over night first time in months we have had to use the heating in the van. Not sure what we are doing today if the weather stays like this we might cook dinner on the Cadac later.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Spending the afternoon listening to Test Crikkit ( frown ) and footy on radio channels while I do some serious co-ax terminal ' remakes ' - got to have an excuse or three if they get corroded wink !

Hoping you all are enjoying the time away or the time preparing for it.

We've had a tremendous day! First a visit to Cotehele, no time for the house itself, but the Quay and Mill were really intriguing and walking through the woods you suddenly come across this view across to the viaduct at Calstock. The village is perhaps best remembered for being cut off for several months after a landslide in December 2013 (I think - seems more recent than that!)

The gardens are a bit in between seasons at the moment but the gunnera are impressive!

Then met up with an old friend for lunch followed by a mooch around Tavistock - a fascinating town, will have to return and spend more time here. The pannier market was bustling this afternoon - looked like just the sort of place Bargain Hunt might visit (managed to hold on to the cash and plastic though, so Mrs M came away empty handed! wink) and a look around the church where Sir Francis Drake was baptised.
