Some of us had to accept the pressure from the banks at the time, they ruled supreme on business loans etc! It fell apart with the banking crisis, the magnitude of banking bad practices was revealed, I won't go into further detail as it was a true scandal on an epic scale.

** I wonder if we've seen the end of it
"
I don't think so, Brue !
Listening to the radio this very morning 1 / 9 / 2019 ** and I heard a couple of adverts with only slight modifications from those of the last two years !!

Decided a slightly lengthier walk this morning in the brisk wind but nice sunshine. Quite pleased with the way it went as there is a good incline built in and things seemed okay to me. Got home and 5 minutes later the heavens opened enough to cause the bird bath to overflow.
Ttda, I've also had 3 things arrive. One was a letter about my appointment at the hospital, another was letter from the Pensions people telling me that my state pension wasn't going to be as much as I thought and the third thing was from those very people sending out Bowel Screening letters! I would have preferred your post.

Now set up by the river Saone in France. Had a wander into the local village car boot/table top sale, local folk seem to be enjoying themselves but to be honest the stuff looked to be a little bit of tat
What a shock diesel prices were on the French motorways, the average was £1.48/ltr compared with Germany’s £1.38/ltr. Fortunately we didn’t need to fill up.

Ouch WN, reverse side of our luck. I hope you are getting better by the way?
I’m still like a big kid when it comes to play equipment and doing dangerous stuff. I was eyeing up that huge zip wire thingy when we were in Wales....... despite not liking heights.
As for Venetian blinds, years of watching Mum clean hers at home convinced me never ever to buy one! Don’t have any of those vertical blinds either. Roman blind in kitchen gets the odd cursory dust, and the curtains get a shake every now and then. As I explained to my OH just before we married, I don’t do serious housework! He comes from a family of domestic goddesses, all his sister’s spend hours per day dusting this, polishing that, ironing their smalls. However, he must love me, we are still happily together, and he’s become very good at ironing!😂😂😂
I can however, cook, bake, knit, sew, decorate, garden, chop wood, fix the odd thing wrong on car, mend a plug and sort out plumbing! 👍😁

I agree brue. Scandalous. However we have drawn a line under it now 😁.

A bowel screening test. Deep joy WN!! 😂

camp followers have left me all alone, something about work tomorrow? So as Basil may say, now I can start to caravan properly.
A few bottles of Wainwright's beer will help it along.

Tda, I think your skills are far better and more practical than dusting polishing and ironing.

I had to laugh about the housework bit, my OH comes from a similar family of housework addicts. I remember my late MIL told me off once for having dusty lampshades, (she did hers weekly), I was a young Mum with 2 small boys, and also when had I last emptied my cupboards and cleaned the shelves!! 😧. Hers were done every other Tuesday. Funny I can still remember that conversation, I politely kept my mouth shut.😡

The only time I ever tried to be a "good housewife" was when I gave up my full time job. However, I became addicted to gardening, and quite happily could spend at least 40-50 hours per week in garden weather permitting. We also had three dogs to walk and a horse to exercise and look after, so it only lasted a few weeks.
i am a tidy person, put things away, keep work surfaces clear of clutter, put clothes away etc, but have few set routines. If it needs it, it gets it, but not if something I deem more urgent crops up (frequently
). We have a quite old house, big as well for just us two, so its takes some looking after. Life is too short to worry about keeping everything pristine and super shiny, it gets what it needs.
Having said that, I always have a good tidy and clean before we go away...........mainly because one of in laws looks after house for us. We didnt recognise it once on our return........polished, dusted, oven cleaned, felt like burglars had been!

I knew what I was paying for but we were told it was mandatory in order to get a credit card, store card and in some cases to open a bank account. That was what banking was like. They could make the rules up as they went along. I have always been careful with our finances. It just took.me a while to realise that it was PPI.

I’m sure at some time in our lives we've all believed what an apparently knowledgeable person in a professional position has told us, Millie. Well done on achieving recompense.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks Tinwheeler. At least we got our own back in the end. I must admit we were very pleased with our recompense. 😊

Tda, OH had a very formidable aunt (who frightened me to death when we were first married) who said she defrosted her fridge every Wednrsday (whether it needed it or not!) and slso cleared and cleaned her larder every week. I think I was a sad disappointment

Exciting Day today as after almost 2 years of restoration we had our first ride out in "Daffy" the MG
Went for a tour round our local villages.
My Samsung tablet gave up the ghost this afternoon
will now have to start looking for a new one. So many to choose from.
Very relieved to see our Hedgehog turn up tonight as usual, was a bit worried as we had passed one along the road this morning not far from the house that hadn't made it across the road.

My MIL was the sweetest person I ever met, such a lovely lady. She was quite poorly when I first knew her, but standards had to be maintained, and Brasso was plied liberally, even if others were drafted in to do the actual deed. I can't use Brasso without thinking of her every time, and she gave us a rather wonderful Grandfather clock on condition I kept the hinges gleaming! We had some lovely conversations, and she did tell us to make sure we enjoyed ourselves above anything else. She was fairly house bound, unless someone took her out, so the house was her love and she enjoyed seeing it looking how she wanted it to look. She had a lot of friends who came round, so it was her pride and joy, along with her family.
Edit: congrats on Daffy, OH has been working on ours now other Jeep has gone and more room in garage. Taken out for a run, but thinks back brakes sticking a bit........ Holidays keep getting in way of resto time!

Back from our 1 night away in the caravan
Next doors party was a bit of a wash out they said, due to heavy rain and then very windy once the rain the stopped. Their double gazebo is now no more, not tight enough then filled with rain and the wind caught it and buckled the frame work. Both of them a bit fed up today as its been a nice sunny day, no wind either.
WN, new car worked out well, towed good and the bikes fitted great inside, no movement from them at all. Will take photos tomorrow then try to post them. Lots of space for all the bits and bobs even with one of the double seats still left in.
Managed to find another couple of jobs for OH to do in the van, now sorted on our return.
Cleaning, I don't know where I get it from but I love cleaning
Mum is a 'do it because it needs it' type, so is my sister. I just love things to be clean and tidy, no longer a fanatic though. When we were in military housing I was a nightmare
much more relaxed about it these days.
If its a nice day then I'm out in the garden, there will always be a wet day at least once a week here, so that's when things get done these days
One of my DIL's says she will never be a domestic goddess, life is too short for that kind of thing. Does my head in when we go to there house, would love to give it a good blitz, think a couple of skips would be required. They are both guilty as they are hoarders. The other DIL doesn't like housework but agrees that it has to be done, she is not a hoarder, in fact if you leave anything lying for to long she will have thrown it away
PPI claims, we've had a few of these, nothing huge but decent enough to make you smile. We also got a good refund on our council tax, thanks to the nice man on TV telling folk how we were all diddled. Not just a refund, they dropped us down a band as well
Although we've got PB we've never won anything on them.
Think I've caught up with most things after just 24 hours away
Glad you had a good birthday Trellis sounds wonderful OH green with envy.
H&T nice to hear you got to drive your "Daffy"
If I've forgotten anyone sorry, its been a long busy day.

Thoroughly understand your points, Heddlo !!
My aged Sister is of a similar mould to some folks mentioned on here
. At 89 in a couple of months time, she has decided that she can no longer do what she used to do automatically. I found her the phone number of a cleaning company, very local to her, who "did" for my friends until very recently. After a three month trial they seem happy with each other so it's become a fixed deal !
Visiting my sister on my return from Dorset this week I discovered her, you've guessed it, dusting away happily. Well, she said, I can't just sit there can I ? My answer was sufficient that I never got even the offer of a coffee, never mind actually getting one !
Hope you lot and / or your OH's are a tad more inclined to chew on ones tongue, never mind just bite on it
Thirsty Boy, CREWE !!
