Very very naughty. I recall once being asked if I'd like insurance. I dug a little deeper, chap enquired re occupation and as we both government employees we were declined, as it would have been double cover as good sick pay and other benefits. Perhaps a more 'honest' person.

    Delighted you got a result.

I can think of better things to arrive in the post πŸ˜‰. But I know several people who are very grateful they are free and sent out. πŸ˜€.

We had a 'scare' in the last month or so - very swift follow up and luckily no abnormalities.

So glad it wasnt my job to test and analyse such tests or the other delights that arrive in a pathology lab.never wanted a repetitive job but would choose over former πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Lovely weekend managed to get out to events both Saturday, went to local park and discovered music, storytelling, poetry, etc and Suffolk Punch event Sunday.fabulous weather for both.

Beautiful if cooler start to the day, 12c at 8am. Got to recover motorhome again as tiny amount of moisture again! So hoped it had been cured 😒. Food shopping and back for the gardener this afternoon. I hope she and I can make another good effort today. It's getting there. Biggest issue is disposing of our prunings. I do borrow neighbours bins etc πŸ˜‚

    Enjoy your day folks

What a lot of posts to catch up on! I haven't been doing anything much, but must have been too busy for CT.

I'm not a duster/polisher etc. My excuse is our ancient old Aga. It's solid fuel so needs filling and riddling/emptying every day. The coal/ash dust rises and settles on everything in the room. So no point in dusting daily. Our room layout is unusual - the very large room we call the kitchen is where we live (settee, comfy chairs, huge table and pews, enormous partners desk - the only "kitchen" equipment is the Aga. Next door is the Pantry - equally large. Not a fitted kitchen but has the rest of the usual stuff is there (sink, fridge, freezer etc). Plus another enormous table (8" x 4" slate), and several free standing old pine cupboards.

On Saturday I had a mad clean up when I invited OH's brother and wife  for supper (their kitchen in disarray re decorating). But the dust has settled again.

And you Bakers. We are same with pruning, weeds. I could easily fill four bins per week! Bagged and off to tip in between bin pick ups.

Day on the road beckons for us. North, A1, Scotch Corner to check in with other car, then make decision if we do Hexham on way up, or straight to Rothbury. If we get a good run Hexham will be nice. Overnight booked, then a nice day tomorrow finishing off travel up to Melrose. Perfect travel weather here, bright, but heading North with Sun at our backs, not too warm for pooch, no wind or rain. Tomorrow however.........πŸ€”

Wet and windy here today frown

Admin day, get in touch with C&MC to change car registration number for up coming ferry. No problem there and no charge either as in same vehicle size and price. Member of staff then called us back to say BF class our new car as a 'van' yell we went through this at length before buying the vehicle, what is it classed as. We were told its an MPV so not a van there is a big difference in the VAT on a van (and ferries).

Thankfully the C&MC staff member agreed its an MPV family compact and argued (discussed) the point with the BF member who relented and altered their system to accept it as a car not van phew! not a great difference with BF but with other companies it can be significant.

The problem it would appear comes from the fact it is based on a 'van' but with a 'car' interior and has windows all round, unlike a van that doesn't. Seems some  companies databases have not kept up with the change of models and the range within the models, now getting written confirmation from Toyota of its classification. Last thing we need is a confrontation at the port. V5 says Van with windows yell OH now discussing with them.

Oh joy of joys, why can't life be easy laughing

We're on a countdown to a wedding this week, one where the mother of the bride has completely taken over and we're wondering how it's all going to work out! The latest news was that "mother" was going to walk down the aisle in front of the bride....I'm hoping someone grabs her and shoves her out of the way. winksurprised

Apart from that our garden is going to need a lot of work this winter as we agreed to open it up for a local charity again next year (along with a group of other gardens.) So if I can summon up the energy I will try to do a bit every few days to keep on top of it all. Our fortnightly gardener has had a nice summer break so I will be pleased to see her again. Glad to hear you are enjoying some help too Bakers2, we couldn't manage without it now.

Goldie, hope you enjoyed your family supper, dust or no dust!

Have a good holiday TDA and family, so nice to be in and around the Borders, hope the weather holds up.

And David too, now you can relax after all the travelling. smile

TG, glad you got the car hiccup sorted, we must have posted at a similar time.

As for Premium Bonds, hmm, I think they're good as I often win a small amount but my brother in law disagrees as he's only ever had one win. We'll see what September brings soon!? wink

    As it's upstairs and all the other properties around are bungalows there's very very little chance of anyone peaking in. Anyway the bottom of the window is at cheat height, so it's only birds and low flying aircraft that IO have to worry about;

Just about 4.30pm the hoards of vans, MH’s and tenters poured in for the overnight stay.  The site we are on is only 2 or 3 miles from the A6 so makes a perfect stopover.  They will mostly disappear by 10am and the site will settle down for the day until the next hoard.

Today we went walked into Chalon-sur-SaΓ΄ne and had a gander at the architectural wonders including the cathedral which is in the Romanesque style with twin towers and an apse.

Food shopping this afternoon followed by a long walk post dinner.  So far on this trip, excluding 3 moving days we have managed 87 miles of walks.

Brilliant red sky here with the new moon as a back drop

WN, new car worked out well, towed good and the bikes fitted great inside, no movement from them at all. Will take photos tomorrow then try to post them.  Lots of space for all the bits and bobs even with one of the double seats still left in.

Thanks Tammy. But there won't be a need now as we've been out all day looking at a few alternatives and how we accomplish them. We've managed to find a caravan that has had an excellent upgrade in plate, 2 years old, been out about 4 times. The caravan will take what we need so won't be upgrading to a Verso now but we have semi agreed to upgrade the car to the higher spec which will accommodate the extra weight.

It will be the biggest and heaviest of the caravans that we've ever owned so we'll need to put down more hardstanding in the storage area adjacent to our house.

Funnily enough we were distinctintly unimpressed by any of the new range caravans we saw, about 8 different models that we had earmarked, including a couple of 2019 models. The AutoSleeper Warwick PVC was super but too big of a chunk of money at the moment for us.

Thanks very much though for your efforts. Glad you're happy with the Verso and the bikes.

The payload these days is the absolute pits so understand why you've taken this course.

Mrs Wn and yours truly feeling a bit abashed. We knew we had to go out today to start looking for a replacement caravan/Mh and possibly car and we were out all day. When we got home MiL had Dusted the house top to bottom, Hoovered, Done the pile of washing in the laundry basket, sorted out the dishes in the dishwasher, ironed everything waiting to be ironed and still had time for a quick trip to town to pick something up for me.embarassed

We had intended to do it all tomorrow. Have to get back to cooking duties and pay my way. No more malingering.

Had a lovely day exploring the Coledale mine road and the closed Force Crag mine area from Braithwaite. Normally just rush along along it heading for the hause.

It is now owned by the National Trust and there is an open day on 22nd September for anyone interested.

Well done in finding just what you want, WN. Bet it's not a Luna!!wink

You do realise that even if it only been out 4 times the previous owners could have done over 200 nights in it....there speaks the voice of experience.laughing

It wasn't quite what we wanted, Nell, but one always has to compromise and keep an open mind. We made sure previous owner not from Cumberland!

Actually not entirely sure the "4" times is accurate but it doesn't look like it's had very much use. Dealer sold it to client and serviced it. With a few things we want doing I'm hoping we might be on our travels before the end of the month.

Congratulations to all those that have won a bob or two,I've never had a return on the few PB's that I hold and that must be over the last 30 yrs or so. Well done millie with the PPI payback.

Looks like I've started something with the cleaning thread. Hope you are all enjoying the exercise.wink

If I don’t look close enough my Venetian blinds are clean 😳.......πŸ˜•

ADD Ours were getting to the stage where one could almost write ones name in the dust on the top of the leaves, hence the clean....and too much free time before we head off again.

Not a very good day weather wise today, cool this morning but dry, however I & Flyte go rather wet this afternoon.

We felt like that when we went looking last year, glad we got the one we have as we like it and the size is just right at 6.2m payload is as you say rubbish but we have got round that nowsmile although the Kuga didn't have a problem that way, it was just that the bikes had to go on the back of the car which makes it awkward when hitching/unhitching. We could still use it especially in winter in UK as it AWD and we won't take the bikes then.

We also liked the Warwick but again felt it a tad too much for a new one and good 2nd hand ones are rare, well they are up here.

Glad you've found something that you are both happy with and that it will do the job for you. Once its all sorted do let us know what it is.

No problem taking the photos, at least now we will remember how we loaded and secured them, memory no what it used to be wink

I don't know Millie, I think many of us attending are wondering the same. Not the usual type of wedding arrangements in this day and age.

Not a lot happening here, some shopping and washing to do.

Good to hear the WNs have found a possible van. Didn't you mean Tempus "Flugit"...laughing

I've been offered the shingles jab, got to sort out this sinus bug first so will go for it later.

Gosh brue please report after attending the wedding!

Great news on your new van Wherenext. I've been on the lookout for the Warwick for a long time. Maybe one day the God's will smile on me πŸ˜‰

Gardener came yesterday she and I at it for 3 hours each. 2 brown bins and 3 ton sacks, she lent me 2.

Washing pegged out its dry and grey.

Just completed dump run, twice. Forgot some schools  back today so Army & Navy roundabout SOLID as flyover closed permanently. Oh deep joy! OH came with me and helped  πŸ˜ƒ. Just having a cuppa before I vac the car, 1st time since we've had it, over a year πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Nelliethehooker close your eyes and don't take it on board! Might take it for a wash later, that'll be it's 2nd. First only after wedding and farm track πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I'll have to do it this week as following week we visit our son, they don't live on the farm but may have to use the track, and I don't want to have to pay twice!

Bought some perennial plants at the weekend, aiming to repot them as ground is far good dry, budleia wilting again. So won't be idle. Plus plenty to rake up and tidy around where we pruned yesterday. Got to take OH to rehab class 1230 - 2 so that curtails my time.

    Enjoy your day folks.

Hi TG. We were really disappointed with the staff at Marquis Leisure. I've never come across someone so bored with trying to sell you something as our supposed salesman. We did a bit of research before going to see it and knew far more than he did. A complete waste of space. He hadn't even looked any info up even though he knew we were coming to see it. The manager was no better so I wouldn't touch anyone there in future. If they're like that when selling then imagine what they're like if a problem arises.

Liked the Warwick though. Quite like the Vantage Eos but again they are rare. The Eos has bike storing space at the rear inside the van.

Still PVC put on hold for another good few years hopefully.

We have the misfortune of Marquis being our nearest new dealership and can empathise with your views, WN.

We're pleased with our Warwick Duo but, truly, it’s not put together any better than other brands but it is made to look pretty. The crystal wine glasses shouldn’t sway your choice 😁.

Happy to help if you have any questions and decide not to wait a few years.

We bought our last Autocruise from Marquis, what a terrible company to deal with,,they tried to wriggle out of anything that did not give them an income, and even tried to blame us for not picking it up on time when they had valeted it ,and flooded the heki vent with water soaking the blind, also a rear light they had damaged, was not their fault, when it had happened in their storage when on first serviceyell

Same here, with PVC,we like the Devon firefly small but easy to park at home, and small trailer for the bit that are now carried in our car on longer trips,it may be sooner than expected as have been informed that our storage fees are going up again next year to Β£690 which could pay tax and insurance on PVC

Thanks TW but the dirty deed is done. It was a close thing though but it can wait until those nice people at the Pension place start paying me a weekly wage.

One thing Mrs WN didn't like was the rear doors. Really, I think she's just angling for an EOS. laughing We saw one of these at the NEC about 3 years ago and were sorely tempted before we bought the last caravan. Thought they were well put together.
