Weather a bit iffy today with squally showers, maritime festival not as good as in the past,  the full Monty whole herring and herring roe with a gap for £4.50 from Hemsby volunteer lifeboat members was still good thoughsurprised

Weather has been lovely and sunny here all day so we stayed on site sitting outside relaxing enjoying a few cups of coffee watching the world go by. Headed out in the afternoon for a couple of hours and got some steaks to cook on the Cadac. Lovely meal sitting outside but got a bit chilly once the sun went behind the trees. SWMBO is now watching Strictly Come Dancing not my type of thing but no choice when away in the van lol.

Lovely day here today in Glasgow, working on DD's gate and other odds and ends in the house.

Hopefully putting gate back in position tomorrow.

Latch  system  needs to be thought through.

Been a lovely day here to, sun most of the day and when in it, nice and warm.

Mixed day doing more jobs, grass now cut and strimmed, garden all hoed and plants that are nearly finished cut down. OH hitched up the trailer and filled it with garden rubbish + some other bits and took it all off to the skip. smile While he was away I re-potted 3 plants, that should do them fine now until next spring.

Had a water fight with the kids next door, they started it honest laughing little blighters squirting water at me over the fence, what they didn't know was I had the hose connected laughing gave them a good blast with it surprisedlaughing so all out war for awhile. laughinglaughing

Met up with grand daughter and grandson at teatime with their other granny, went out and had a meal followed by a huge ice cream, totally stuffed now. Both children visiting for the night then back to boarding school tomorrow teatime. Both of them had sport commitments this morning, grandson had his first rugby match. He said it was 'ace' managed a few tackles and really enjoyed it. Grand daughter played hockey and they won 1 nil, so both of them happy bunnies.

    Happy weekend all.

A slightly cooler day today at 24C so really comfortable for sight seeing and bird watching. This morning went and had a look at Chatillion sue Indre.  Walked around the tourist trail and visited the castle, mainly ruined the church and part of the medieval town.  Found a cracking bread and cake shop so purchase pie and cakes for an al fresco lunch. Drove back into La Brenne national park to the Etang Purais where we ate our picnic whilst watching a King Fisher.  Had a final look at the cattle Egrets, still haven’t got a photo shot of one sitting on a cows back.  This is an area of France we will come back to.  Back at van started to tidy up ready for our trip up to Cherbourg tomorrow.

Hope everyone having a great weekend

Been a lovely day here, shorts and t shirt weather. Had a nice time in North Berwick, then an interesting drive through Moors and hills back to cottage. Out for an evening recce of Best spots to watch Cycling tomorrow, and stopped off at Scotts’s View to watch a glorious sunset. Good dark sky tonight as well, plenty of stars out, and a clear moon.

Glad everyone is enjoying there time away. Spending a few days on a lovely site at Lourdes, about 20 minutes walk from the sanctuary. We enjoyed our stops on Aires on the way here, however they aren't ideal if you want to prep fish and BBQ.😋 Nice walk into Lourdes yesterday, through the sanctuary and across town to the funicular, which took us about 2000 feet above the town. There were lots of mountain bikes being taken up, as there is a world championship grade run back down. It looked a serious proposition. Planning on heading on to Carcassonne tomorrow, never been before. There is a site and Aire within about 15 minutes walk of the old city.

Looks great Steve, we are looking at going to Lourdes in a couple of weeks time, any site you'd recommend, notice there are quite a few in that area.

We got home earlier this afternoon from a nice relaxing weekend at ayr Craigie Gardens. Weather was lovely yesterday cooked on the Cadac and just generally relaxed. Rumour going around the site is that the lease may be getting extended and they are hoping it will be extended a good few years so fingers crossed they get it and can do a bit of redevelopment as the site is looking a bit tired. We use it regularly with it being so close to home but it is a major asset to the town so hoping the rumours are true. Next planned trip is a long weekend in Berwick in a couple of weeks

This site we are on is very nice. Not that big, a mixture of static and touring. You can order your bread etc the day before to pick up at 8:30. Also a small basic  restaurant / take away, which we haven't used. Camping la Foret. There is a short steep walk down to the valley bottom  then about 15 minutes walk to the sanctuary. The site give you a stamp on a bit of paper, which you hold up to the camera on the sanctuary back gate, which saves going round the road. There is also another site in the valley bottom which you pass just before you get to la Foret, which also looks OK from the outside. It's called Camping du loup. Although we just came on spec Camping la Foret is also available for booking through the CAMC.

We stayed at La Floret a few years ago too and found it fine. We were there for a week and walked in to the town a few times although at night we would get a taxi back from town saving the walk up the hill if I remember right the taxi prices were reasonable. We did pop in for a look around the site at the bottom of the hill but didn’t really think much of it.

Many thanks Steve for the info very useful to know, will mark it up in my little black book laughing

Thanks also to Francis for your comments too, good to get feed back from those who have been before.

Most of today was nice and sunny, not that warm though. Its now clouded over and looks quite chilly out judging by folk wearing jackets as they go by.

Went to see Mum this morning, she was on form today smile took her through to the hairdressers room and gave her a hair cut. She seemed quite happy about it, then a manicure and a chat while we had a nice cuppa. The staff that was on today are the ones we like the best, I know you shouldn't have favourites but some are so much better at making life for the residents a pleasant place to be.

Another few jobs done car and caravan are 95% packed, just a few personal items to go in and the food in the fridge/freezer. Will be glad to get away its starting to look very autumnal now.

Glorious day up here, wall to wall sunshine, very nice if you are in a sheltered spot. We had a good day watching Tof B, first near Smailholm, then zipped down to St Boswell’s to see them go through again. Lots of folks like us out enjoying things. After race we had a nice couple of hours at Dryburgh Abbey.

Mum and Sis had a great day down in Seahouses and Alnwick, so they have had a long day out! Back at cottage now, watching hares in stubble fields around us. And sheep.......more blinking sheep.😁

Had a fab day out today at the Classic car show at the Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam railway. The weather was perfect and "Daffy" the MG drove well, didn't miss a beat there or back. The setting at Toddington station with the Cotswold hills in the distance is lovely, especially in the sunshine.

It was a bit of a family affair too as both our sons and their girlfriends came along too. Enjoyed meeting and talking to some of the other MG owners, especially one young lad of 14 who is restoring one with his Dad.

Enjoyed a picnic lunch and a ride on the steam train to Broadway. have attached a few photos from the day as promised.smile Roll on next year!!!

We had pretty much a perfect day for the Setter Rescue walk today, dry and bright but with a gentle breeze to keep it cool for the dogs. A really good turn out, over 50 Irish Setters along with a couple of English and even a daschund with ambitions!

A lovely walk across 4 tors and then back to Spitchwick Manor for a Devon cream tea and then all the dogs off lead bounding around the manor grounds - quite a sight - and a couple thousand pounds raised for the charity! smile

And did I mention the Devon cream tea? Here is just a sample - unfortunately there was no room for the plate of sandwiches or the quiche in this photo! (I ought to say there were 4 of us sharing! laughing)

Note that the scones have been prepared the proper (Cornish) way. wink

H & T,  And there was Brian thinking it was a ' TC ' you had ( giggle chuckle innocent )

Saw some decent aged motors at Malpas Yesteryear Rally today !  Quite a few elderly i.e. pre- and post-WWII cars there. Three Rollers from 'tween wars and a very different ' Spirit of Ecstasy ' on each. That's always a nice item to look for in itself.

Nice group of Heavy Horses too, including one Shire with a rider on ( ? in ? ) a western saddle -- suppose that's why cowboys were always rolling stock when they walked, so to speak innocent

That's, for yours truly, the last but one steam rally of the year, so you can expect a touch of acid in my postings for a while now,  grumble sniffle, grouch frownyell !!

    P.S.

    Oh, Moulesy,

Did you HAVE to put those piccys of taste & calories on here, just when I was looking to see if MY post had made it on OK, I find oodles of inches of waistline have popped up  cry

MOH says no way- Jam AFTER the cream. Because the cream should be that thick and solid that the jam is not smeared everywhere when the consolidated cow juice goes on top.

Me, as long as both items are one the scone that is good enough!

Well, I reckon as long as a good thick layer of butter goes on first the jam and cream can follow in any order! laughing
