I hope your car passes the MOT with no problems Nellie
All good millie, thanks, and no notes for things to look out for in the near future either. Car was ready by 1:30 so the wait wasn't as bad as first thought. Down to Asda et al this evening for provision for our next trip, so now nearly ready for the off on Wednesday. Have arrange to meet up with daughter en route to collect bag of goodies, as she's just got back from Brussels and then heads off to Paris at the weekend, and she's too much to do at home to get through to see us tomorrow. Still we'll be well stocked up with chocolates again for the trip.

Thanks AD, hope the next 3 weeks go well and you have a safe journey back.
WN, thanks were not sure what to expect but feel we should have a look see while in the area. Spain is the main part of the trip, haven't been there for 3 years so looking forward to it.
OP, can't believe its been almost a month since you left, agree its gone so fast, you do seem to have had good weather and a good trip in general, hope ours is as good.

St Vaast is quite popular with a few guys from my sailing club although I haven't been there myself.

Hectic times down on the farm.
Friday afternoon - meeting at Westmorland Show HQ. OH is President Elect and so will be part of the Presidential Party at the show on Wednesday (plus me!). It will be a different day from showing our cows (which son and helpers will still be doing). We get driven round in a golf type buggy and glad hand a lot of people.
Saturday after milking - picking apples (brilliant crop). OH stung by a wasp and his hand swelled and got hot etc. A few years ago he had a full on anaphylactic shock after a bee sting, so we rushed down to A & E in Kendal. Very quiet for a Saturday night. Two hours of checking and dosing with steroids and antihistamine and we were on our way.
Sunday morning - trying to get a new Epipen (ours out of date). It seems there's a shortage both at pharmacies and suppliers. (Brexit? - surely not). Back to the hospital, new prescription for a different variety and we got the last one in town.
Monday- thinking about baking for the show (not to show, but feed the crew). BBC NW rang asking to come up and interview and film the person who tweets @1940atStrickley (dirary written by father in law as a 20 year old in 1940). So that's me. Frantic clean up, plus made dinner for 6 (we've got two foreign vet students here on a two week placement).
Filming went OK I think - shown last night (3 hours later). Se it here -
Today - judge here to look round for one of the on farm classes for the show.
Baking and dinner etc.
Later today we're going down the lane to watch the Tour of Britain whizz by.
Sorry for long ramble - and please excuse mistakes. Done in a rush. Pie ready to take out of oven.

Finally catching up with a few posts, Thank You for the nice comments re the MG, Trevor is very pleased with it, after all his hard work. I am hoping he doesn't decide to now buy another one to restore!!
Weather has been pretty good here despite the forecast, collected the caravan from storage ready for a few days in the Peak District which will include a trip into Manchester to catch up with youngest son and see the DIY progress on their new house.
Have had a bit of a dilemma, as we will be away for a few days we were worried about our little Hedgehog family who we have been feeding every evening, missing the food. Our neighbour who also leaves food out has kindly offered to put some out in our garden too while we are away. We know that there are at least 4 in the street now.
Safe travels to all out and about, have to dash off to work now.

Commiserations with your OH Goldie Stings / bites can be horrid things. Had a couple back in my tenting days 1975 on the banks of the Severn near Gloucester. Had them treated by a nurse but still blew up like a dirigible. On getting back home saw my own practice nurse. After a few tests she advised me to just leave them alone in future 'cos the swelling was an allergic reaction to the ANTIHISTAMINES !! Not too long after I got my first VW Camper - much easier to defend than a tent !!

Thanks OP thought that might be the site will look again did email a small CL type site British owned three weeks ago and no reply so far.
Agree with comments about your OH's MG Helen a lovely colour too, OH's used to be Classic Range Rover's had 4 of them not all at the same time does not like the new ones at all.
Sorry about your OH's wasp sting Goldie hope it will soon heal, our friend last week in the Dordogne got stung by a wasp just as we were going around for evening meal she managed get all her rings off before it got to swollen but it did not swell as much as when she has had them before and she is terrified of wasps, we went for a celebration meal the next day and we were surrounded by wasps so not good and the French just look at us as to say they will not hurt you!!!

Many thanks Steve for the info very useful to know, will mark it up in my little black book laughing
Also worth mentioning TG, although not in the ACSI discount book, when we showed them the card they offered it at the 16€ rate. I think about 4€ less than the standard price.
Not so happy with last nights site at Carcassonne. Decided on the site rather than the Aire and wished we hadn't. Said we wanted 2 nights and payment was required upfront. Might have had something to do with, although site itself was fine, pitches didn't have a lot of grass, and that's being generous. Unfortunately the weather has turned most unseasonable for a day, with temperatures in the mid teens. Rained a lot of the night and the pitch was to say the least soggy by this morning. As more heavy rain is forecast for this evening, we decided to cut our losses and leave, rather than risk getting the van stuck. Now on a nice hard surface Aire, well it's the town car park, near to the Med. Weather is supposed to get back to normal tomorrow 🤞with mid to high 20's forcast.

Last day here had a walk through the lottery funded "Venetian "water feature on the sea front (it is grade2 heritage listed) reopened this year ,then noted that the near derelict winter gardens had lots of photos of the "golden years" a couple really stood out of the camping park in the 1950s and the hundreds of touring vans there, all well packed in, off to Seacroft tomorrow

You can all stop worrying now. Managed to fulfil my duties for my bowel screening test and sent it off in the post, so the dirty deed has been done.
Goldie, I had to go and lie down after reading your post for a bit of a rest. Good on ya.
A busy day but not much to show for it. Did run over the grass this afternoon as you never know when Royalty will arrive. Found a discarded grass snake skin on the lawn. The 5 year old who cycles around the close thought it was GREAT! The 50 y.o. neighbour nearly feinted. Go figure.
Anyone away, enjoy yourselves.

We have had a nice day here, took Mum on Concorde. She’s never set foot on a plane in all her 90 years, so we thought it best to start at the top and work down. Stunningly beautiful plane, so sad to think they’ll never fly again.
Goldie, we have had a great time watching all the hectic activity in the fields out and about near us. Lots of harvesting, baling, potato picking. This morning we were treated to a sheep round up and movement. Around 300 sheep, one farmer, one two year old little girl, a quad and two sheep dogs. It all went very smoothly. Yesterday we came across a field of Aberdeen Angus Bulls, all separated in individual paddocks with electric fencing. Huge, magnificent animals....

I seem to remember paying for a piece of "lucky" snake skin at our local yearly fair!
So many interesting posts, I can't keep up! Enjoyed the photos, good to see Daffy! Nice to catch up on all the news.
We finally got away, heading north slowly.

Where you heading for brue?

Hope your trip goes well brue. Safe crossings, OP and TG. Glad that the weather's picked up for all those that are away.
You've certainly been busy Goldie, and I hope that your OH get over the wasp sting. Hope that you have a successful day at the Westmorland Show on Thursday. (Hope that the "Wednesday" was a misprint in your post, or is there a special President Party on the day before the show?).
We're all ready for the off ourselves tomorrow, just hope that it's not too wet or windy.

Our schedule begins on Wednesday night with the Stewards and Judges Reception, followed by the launch of some new farming awards. Thursday is show day - start at 8 am (up very very early to milk first as our son and grandson will be overnighting with our cows in the cattle tent). Touring, talking, drinks reception for invited, lunch for specially invited, more touring round. NFU reception with Minette Batters. Grand Parade. Prize giving etc.
Back home to milk, then back for after show dinner later in the evening.
And something on Friday that I can’t remember. And he’s only President Elect.
Last night we sorted out various sets of clothes. I don’t think I’ll need my new straw Fedora.

Wet and breezy start to the day, race course staff trying to get ready for next meeting, they have been out since early morning watering as it is so dry here , so at the moment the going on the course will be quite hard on race days ,and our neigbour says that suger beet lifting has not yet started as ground too hard ,off to Seacroft later after a food shop here at Aldi

Goldie - sounds like a full packed few days for you. I love reading your posts, they’re always so interesting. Hope all goes well.
Day off work today, so I have a date with our gas boiler man to look at moving the radiator in our bedroom. It’s on the wall where we would like to move the bed to, so it’s got to move. Not sure what it will cost though.
Also got a delivery firm coming to pick up a caravan battery. We ordered a new Banner battery online and when it arrived it had been tipped up in transit. (Even though it had “keep this way up” stickers all over it. 🤨) So it arrived with three cells half empty and three cells over full and battery acid all over the inside of the box. We’re not happy that it will be ok to use in the future so it’s being returned and replaced with a new one. Have safe and happy travels to all. 😊

Think your neighbour was pulling your leg, the sugar beat factory at Cantley doesn’t start until 10 Oct 19. I’ve never know the harvest start until October usually after it’s rained. The season runs until March. One of the reasons we have a towing cover
