Glad to hear that you got on alright HD at the diabetic clinic OH is type 2 has been for 18 years and he gets good checks over here, just had gluacoma check in local town very impressive building and 3 doctors it was very busy but all done by 12 noon they even did a full eye test and gave him a prescription ready for the optician saves having another eye test, no problems and go back in a year also had a heart check last week in local hospital all negative so no to go back for another two years. I sometimes end up by going to the Diabetic clinic and I'm not a diabetic.  The consultant is the same as for other endocrine problems, so he sometimes fits me in if he needs to see me.  He keeps checking the blood sugar levels, but, amazingly, all is well.  Should I do the 'touch wood' thing!

Hope all goes well with the regime, HD.  All the best.

A day of M&M and R&R.  About 4pm over there time we had a tremendous thunder and lightening storm, on a couple of occasions the air around us.  The rain was torrential, an hour after the sun was out and back to 31C.

A reasonable day, weather not too bad and managed to get a few things done at DD's house.

Her 17 year old car has passed the MOT without problems other than a bulb out and a slow puncture repair, so that makes a change!  A couple of advisorys but OK for another year, which is a big relief.

Preferably in the safe, you know, the one with a constantly self changing entry code  laughing.

Seriously I hope they caught you early enough to avoid the problems that come with "Long Term Undiagosed " type 2.  Now you can start the looking after yourself phase - probably for the rest of your  { I Hope } very long life  !

Nellie have a Venetian blind that I cannot keep looking good you're welcome to show me how it's done. Worse days listening I ever did when sales lady said a quick feather duster over and it's done ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Cant see how to get it down, not inclined too either. Its above the draining board and really awkward to deal with!

Ours too is over the sink, so I cleaned it in situ, leaf by leaf with warm water, washing-up liquid and a lot of elbow grease, starting at the lowest one and slowly raising the blind to the next dirty one. It took a while but I must admit that it does look so much better, B2

Noooooo please don't I didn't want you to tell me ๐Ÿ˜ญ. A few years back I  bought a special Blind cleaner too  3 slats at a time - just as useless...

Actually I did that with ours - I feel your pain. But after hours of work. We both agreed it really didn't look like it had that much attention. Maybe cos it's metal who knows? You name it I've tried it, OH too. I've now decided life's too short, and that was before this year's events ๐Ÿ˜‰. I whizz a long handled duster over it from time to time and call it quits ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Just about to go to my workshop to make some round pegs to fix legs to a "desk".

DD has an Ikea Micke desk that she got on Freecycle and used to use for her sewing machine, but it has now been repurposed as a changing table for Callum.

The castors have broken, SIL had his toes run over (!) so we are replacing the castors with wooden legs.  She wants to retain the option to fit new castors later, so I have to attach the legs in the same way as the castors.

I cannot help but wonder what others, without the ability to make things/repair things, would have done?

Did four fells today from near Buttermere, Grasmoor, Ell crag, wandope and then Whiteless Pike. Conditions were awful the only view was from the last one (attached with Grasmoor behind) when finally came out of the mist. Still a fantastic day.

I take our 2 remaining blinds down to clean them. Spread a big cloth (old duvet cover) on the decking and on hands and knees I wash one side then turn it over to do the other side. Generally do it ever 2 years, ours are in the bedrooms so don't get too bad.

Rain on and off all day, rubbish for trying to do jobs outdoors, so had to resort to ironinglaughing

Tomorrow is forecast to be worsefrown

Heating on tonight just low to take the damp chill off.

We have just the one Venetian blind in our shower room.  Periodically I get OH to take it down and then I put it in the bath and give ti a good scrub.  This has just reminded me that it is time to take it down and scrub it again frown

See what Nellie's started? I hope he's ashamed of himself!

Milliehull have you been affected by the Hotpoint fire? Wondered if it was affecting Ferry Meadows as well. Been bad for large blazes your way. Fire by A1 (9 units I believe) last weekend was on entrance to farm, not their building and didn't affect the harvest thankfully. I had to ring son to confirm location as he didn't mention it Sunday morning when we spoke. Boys!!!

Another pleasant morning here, not too warm yet. More air today.

Enjoy your day folks - especially those guilt tripped into cleaning blinds ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. That doesn't include me - yet ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorting out our energy for the forthcoming year. A job, I'm sure, that everyone on here will love doing.smile

Done the dirty deed and hopefully will save us quite a few bob, as we're going to need it soon. Felt a bit sorry for the existing supplier who have done nothing wrong and have been excellent with their billing etc. but if we can save more than ยฃ300 then needs must.

Off soon to have lunch with my cousin and her hubby. Had to cancel a couple of times on her recently so better make sure I make it this time.

A bit windy out there but dry at the moment.

We went over to the edge of the Quantocks this morning. Out to Hestercombe House and gardens. Hadn't been for a few years and there were lots of improvements. Lovely perimeter walk above the small lakes, in and out of the pretty pavilions. Beautiful views over the Vale of Taunton and Exmoor in the distance. The house is now partly open with a good restaurant, so we enjoyed a lunch there. There is also a nice courtyard restaurant, dogs welcome everywhere except the house restaurant. Worth a visit if you're in the area. I expect some of you have been already? GW ticket reduces the price. smile

Looks beautiful brue. Glad you're feeling well enough for some exploring.

Nice and sunny here again, mid 20s, to idle to check for real. After some errands this morning I'm having a quite time in the garden reading and catching up on here.

Had a text from the hospital re an appointment for next Friday.  Not had a letter so chased it down, as suspected it's for OH referral dates back to February!. We were there yesterday, seems he has sleep apnea - will it ever end? He's agreed to try sleeping 'aid' 2-3 month wait!

Went to check our motorhome, still have a slight water ingress ๐Ÿ˜ค despite our best efforts. Seriously thinking about its future.  I drove it round the storage compound, but I'm not happy to drive it out. Insurance renewal due in Oct. Engine and body work sound 5 new tyres last year. I really miss our trips. Think OH needs more time to come to terms with it going ๐Ÿ˜ข. Suspect I  will be calling one of the numbers from the ads in the magazine.

Wherenext glad you've sorted your fuel. Apart from combining our suppliers eons ๐Ÿ˜‰ ago we have never changed suppliers but have gone fixed rates.  Anyone I know personally has had nothing but issues. I didn't feel inclined to try before and can't take on any more at the mo!  Any savings would be good but not at the risk of my sanity, if I still.am sane ๐Ÿ˜‚

I would only drive our M/H in an emergency B2 so can understand how you are feeling. I'm sure you'll make a decision which suits both of you and will make life easier too. Do hope the hospital appointments go well, sorry to hear your OH has had something else to sort!

Me, well it was lovely to have a proper walk this morning, the first one away from home and very enjoyable too...especially as neighbours had woken us very early, pressure washing their driveway!!

Edit  I've just changed fuel suppliers, much better rates, I change every year if needed now. I use uSwitch, slight hiccup this time but all OK.

We drove down to Cornwall on Wednesday thinking we'd avoid all the Bank Holiday traffic holdups. Unfortunately a major accident on the A30 meant we had to detour via the A38 and A382 across the edge of Dartmoor - although an A road there are several single width stretches which makes it totally unsuitable for HGVs. Didn't stop a couple of them using though which led to some "interesting" confrontations! Journey took a good 90 minutes longer than normal!  frown

So yesterday was a day for food shopping and a stroll around Truro and in the afternoon a long, long (probably pointless) email to our MP about "you know what"! wink

And enjoyed a great day out today, walking from Lostwithiel, which we hadn't visited before, to Restormel Castle and then to one of our favourite NT properties, Lanhydrock House, where the gardens are looking a real picture. smile

Nice photos from Brue and Moulesy.

Feeling for you Bakers. Not been the best of years for you. You can quite often suspend your motor insurance if the vehicle is off the road. You might want a bit of extra time to consider things.

Had a lovely lunch with my cousin and her husband. The 4 of us had a good laugh. Even louder when I realised I'd left my credit cards at home!embarassed Ooops! My turn next time.

Long hot day here in the Black Forest with temperature of 30C.  Used our Konus card for the 2nd time getting the train to Offenburg.  Wandered around the town, had lunch, but by 3pm to hot so we returned to site.  Still 29C and not a breath of wind.  Last full day here tomorrow then crossing over to France.

Welcome!
