Spent a lovely afternoon/evening with eldest son and his girlfriend yesterday, hadn't seen them for a while, such busy lives. Got the bbq out and as I'd been to our local farmer's market in the morning cooked some rather good steak burgers. We were able to sit out even after it got dark.
Wherenext, result re your Ferry booking, apologies I think I missed your accident &van problems.
Nellie we stayed near Bridgnorth, Tedstill Farm, had the site to ourselves, very quiet.

Been rather lazy so far this morning, but have to say it's rather nice.

I've always been fortunate in living on the coast so if I ventured out on a BH I was always travelling in the opposite direction to the madding crowds. I tend to avoid it altogether these days. Might have a walk down to Portchester Castle and perhaps a jar or two at the sailing club tomorrow if the weather holds.

We bought our new TV yesterday and we are very pleased with it so far.
We are off to The Stamford Arts Centre this evening to see Ronnie Scott's All stars. It was OH's birthday while we were in Norfolk and this is my birthday present to him.Your day yesterday sounds lovely Helen. I hope Trevor's ear infection has cleared up now. Good result on your ferry reimbursement WN. Hopefully you will be well enough to take advantage of it soon. I hope your OH is still gradually improving Bakers2 and that you can get out and about and enjoy this lovely weather. It is very quiet around here at the moment. Hardly anyone about when we went into JL to buy our TV yesterday and very few cars on the road. I expect the road to the coast is heaving though!

Not a problem Helen. Glad you were enjoying yourself.
Whilst I'm recovering well from a self inflicted hospital visit I can't say the same for our caravan. Can't say too much at the moment as things are up in the air and it might turn into a legal tussle. Suffice to say that we are not mobile at the moment and will have to look for another caravan shortly when I'm fit enough to be travelling around.
Feeling quite good today as after an early morning stroll for an hour, Mrs WN gave me a haircut, I decided to give myself a proper shave, the day also for a new plaster and after a shower I felt like a new man, but unfortunately had to make do with the existing model.
Hope everyone taking suitable precautions in this heat but managing to enjoy the day.

Good to hear you are pleased with your new TV Millie. I am home alone, OH has deemed me fit enough to be left...
and has gone fishing. Glad you too are making progress WN. I had my hair cut last week, I was so glad to get out and get it done, just a nice stroll down into the village. I did a short walk this morning to pick a few blackberries, now visiting dog has arrived whilst his owners go to The Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard in Dorset (a lovely unspoilt estate with a fallow deer herd and lots of ancient oak trees.) It's too hot to do anything now so I'm not!

Thanks milliehull recovery seems to have plateaued, but compared to discharge he's come on well. He seems very tired and sleeps/rests a great deal, out in the garden so he looks very well 😉, lack of motivation is hard to deal with 😢.
Wherenext glad to hear you're recovery health wise, shame your caravan news isn't as inspiring!
Brue I hope you are feeling better, sounds like you're making baby steps. Being left home alone is a good sign, I leave my OH for a few hours now 😃 assists my sanity or lack of 😉. Are you any nearer to discovering cause etc yet?
It sure is warm 30.8 in the shade according to our outdoor thermometer so in the shade with cool drink and a book.

It’s way too hot here to do much at all. No breeze either. I couldn’t even stay outside in shade, but on the plus side have done almost nothing but read a book. Decadent, but nice. Got an invite to a neighbour bash tomorrow as well, new residents throwing a garden party, so that will be nice.

Same here TDA and the same again tomorrow! B2 I've had a mix of things, getting sorted, hoping the tests show an improvement after medication changes etc.
Me and my furry friend have had a relaxing day and a short field walk this evening, lots of straw due for baling.

Lovely little dog brue. We just did woods today, plenty of shade. I haven’t had such a lazy day for months, but I refuse to feel guilty!😀

Thanks Helen, caught up with your review just a few minutes ago. Glad that you enjoyed your stay there. It's quite close to our son's place so could well be one for us some time.

Very warm day here so like others we've had a fairly lazy day, if you don't count the 15 mile cycle ride

although warm we had a good breezy this afternoon so it was very pleasant. Back home and a hour or so sat in the garden, can't remember the last time we just 'sat' and enjoyed all our hard work.
Not sure what's on the agenda tomorrow but if its nice we just might take a run out somewhere in the car as its not a holiday up here the roads and towns won't be busy.

Garden party, tda, that sounds posh!! Hope you have a good time.
Love the photo brue. Early the short walks with Flyte today. He's content to lie outside all day in the shade, as long as he has a ready source of drinking water.
Good to read all the other tales of fine weather and days out. Just a pity someone has had to go "over there" and miss this fine spell!
Yesterday was hot but I did manage to get the car cleaned after a necessary visit to town for provisions first thing, and then a bit of gardening. Today was even warmer so spent most of the afternoon sitting outside, mainly in the shade, reading after having done a bit more gardening.

Won’t be that posh....garden party ‘cos the main topic will be gardens, plant swops, seeds😁 plus some food and some drinks. New neighbours ran their own bbq/smoked food business, so should be nice.

Thank you for the update Wherenext hope all goes well.
Millie, Trevor is still having to go and have his ear cleaned out at the JR hospital it will take several weeks to clear up completely, but at least the pain has subsided.
Very warm yesterday, took the dog up to our local woods for a nice walk it was a bit cooler .
We are off to the Plum Festival in Pershore today, they also have some classic cars which will keep Trevor happy.
Love the little dog Brue

Enjoy the sunshine folks 🌞🌞

Sign outside Patterdale church seen today: Free WiFi inside I find this rather sad Corneresteady.
Helen: sorry to hear that Trevor still as to go to JR hospital to have his ear cleaned out but pleased to hear that the pain has subsided.
I love your little visiting dog brue. I hope your recovery continues.
Enjoy your 'garden party' TDA.
It was a very hot day here yesterday. I tried to sit in the shade at the bottom of our garden but it was way to hot so had to come indoors. We had a great evening at Stamford Arts Centre last night. We are off to eldest son's for a BBQ this afternoon. I just hope there is plenty of shade

Heavy heat haze here this morning, quite nice as it feels pleasantly cool. OH has taken the dog out before it heats up. Daughter is playing at a local beer festival today.
The plum festival sounds good Helen, hope you enjoy it, we've hardly got any plums this year but are overloaded with damsons (going to pick a box and leave it by our gate, lots of garden boxes appearing just now, fruit and veg for free!) Hope Trevor recovers well from the ear problem, glad to hear the pain has gone.
Enjoy the garden get together TDA!
Deleted User User, go steady on the food
hope you have a relaxing stay before the next journey.Would like to go out today, might venture out towards the quieter Somerset levels as I think many will be heading for the coast.

Helenandtrevor sorry to hear Trevor ear still not right. Is the 'clearing out' required because of the drops? I have never had drops for ear infections, as far as I can recall, for myself or the children and we all suffered recurrent infections - thankfully seem to be very few and far between theses days, although granddaughters in NZ get them but no drops.
Very very warm here again today 😲. Milliehull take your own shade in the form of an umbrella sunshade 😂😂. I know it won't be sufficient!
Enjoy your day folks bbqs, garden parties or just plain chillin 😉

Got back from our last walk before our departure tomorrow. We got to just over 4000” in the high pasture. We did about 7 miles in the scorching sun but with a bit of breeze. Saw all sorts of wild life with lots of butterfly’s including a European Swallowtail.
Can you hear that?, still bright and sunny but thunder rolling around the mountains. New arrivals here are getting their skates on before the expected rain storm about 4pm ‘over there time’

We got back this morning from a lovely site near Burgh Le Marsh Lincolnshire. We decided to set off early to beat the coastal traffic. Glad we did as it was already getting busy. We wisely chose to pitch the van to give the most shade and also used our suncamp swift canopy for the first time. Thank you for the recommendation KjellNN. It was great to have the room and shade without having a full closed up awning. Also very light to pull through the awning rail and so easy to fold up and pack away. We normally take pictures of how the awning is packed before putting it up for the first time. (so that we've got some idea on how to pack it away 😐). We folded and bagged it first time with grins on our faces....how easy was that! We'll be using it again. 😊 We've had some lovely meals cooked in the vans and a Sunday pub lunch in between chatting, relaxing and watching the resident ducks on the ponds. Back to work tomorrow 🙁 Until the next outing. 😊

I am currently not doing what I really should be doing......😎

I'm reading the posts backwards. Had to come inside, the baler is out and the straw dust is a bit much. I like watching the baler as it gives birth, this is the oblong baler but I prefer the round egg laying one! The buzzards are following it very closely and calling to each other.

Got a call from the mother of the young man who cuts our lawn during the summer to say he was in bed with man flu so Mrs WN and myself decided to share the task as we are expecting storms tomorrow and it's brown bin week. So we now have 2 full Brown Bins worth.
Mrs WN had to take MiL to one side and suggest it might not be best for her to continue to ask me "Are you sure you are alright?" Message received (bless her).
It's got quite muggy now.
Good job you didn't get to Frinton, Bakers, judging by what happened. Did they identify the problem?

There is something mesmerising about balers. We used to buy our straw and hay sometimes off the field when we had horse, used to like to watch baling. Hard work collecting them up though. We did ours by hand one Summer.
Our party this afternoon is off, sadly hosts have had a bereavement, so we have postponed. I am about to cut our lawn, but locally in our garden it is currently 98f, way too hot to do much. Need to check weather for next few days, might need to water..... luckily butts are full!
